Delicious burgers, lot of unique combinations. Good french fries and dipping sauce. The owner is very friendly, we had a wonderful time learning about her life there in Ferndale. Also how her father lead her into this hamburger stand business after he was so taken by an old place in San Luis Obispo. He was a student at Cal Poly SLO and discovered the local favorite hole in the wall Burger joint, called Scrubby and Lloyd's. Sadly it closed after 40 years in 1998, to this day all the "older" locals fondly recall the burgers, beans and potato salad. Never had any fries, so when someone came in and ordered a burger with fries...all the heads turned and knew he was an out of towner! Don't miss NO BRAND BURGER! We got 3 burgers, fries and onion rings to share. This cost about $40, which is way less than we are used to spending on gourmet burgers. The fries and onion rings were fresh and hand made. Really good. But the burgers...the burgers!!! The patties are hand made and hang out the sides of the bun. The toppings and sauces are fresh and spot on. It's suitably greasy, but not too much and every bite is pure bliss. This place has one of the best burgers I've ever eaten (we're talking top 5 here) and I wish we lived closer! I was up in McKinleyville visiting my Brother, and this place was on my mind from a couple years back. It was my favorite meal of my trip, and I knew I had to come back. Well............I made it back, twice, during my trip. Each time, I went with the Big Hoss (Double Cajun Bacon Cheeseburger, fries and a shake...current price $22.00). Absolutely amazing burgers! Huge, juicy, grass fed Humboldt beef. Everything works so well! A great burger! The fries were different than last time (last time was crinkle cut, this time regular fries), but still freshly fried and tasty. First time I got cajun fries (cajun seasoning salt) and then the second time I got regular. I had a strawberry shake my first time and vanilla the second. The fries and the shake were great! Overall, an awesome place. Its about the size of my bathroom, but I'll be damned if they dont crank out the best burgers not only in Humboldt County, but in all of CA. Food isn't even all that definitely not for that price. Should've walked out when I heard that $100 it's been keeping me up at night. Never again . My experience today was disappointing. Honestly Idk if we'll be coming back. $80 for 2 burgers, 2 large garlic fries, 2 shakes and a can of soda. We waited over 20 minutes for our food. Fries were luke warm, shakes were part way melted and sub par taste wise, one of the burgers was part way smushed so the bun was all messed up, and the burgers were kind of bland like they didn't season them. I've been coming here for years, and love supporting local businesses especially when they have good food which in past experiences over the years No Brand has always been great. It seems like the prices have gone way too high, and the food quality has went down. If I'm paying $80 for burgers, fries and shakes there shouldn't be one thing I'm not satisfied with and that wasn't the case today. Like a year ago you could come here and get a Big Hoss meal which was a double patty bacon Cajun cheeseburger, a garlic fry, and a shake of your choice for $22 then the next time I came there it was $30, and now they don't even have that deal on the menu, so you have to buy everything separate because they have no combos or meals with burgers, fries and a drink at No Brand. Ferndale is a small town and Humboldt isn't very big to begin with so it's really frustrating that a local business like this is screwing their loyal local customers.
