The factory edge vs the crap edge.

THIS PLACE IS A ZERO FOR KNIFE SHARPENING... I would give this place a zero but you can't do that on Yelp. My 3 Henckels 4 Star knives are ruined! My knives are as follows: 8" chefs knife, 9" flex slicing knife, and a 4" paring knife. These knives have served me phenomenally since they were purchased in Germany back in 1989. They have only been sharpened by myself using a Henckels 2stage pull through sharpener. But after 30 years of regular use there were some slight chips in the blades and they could use a professional sharpening. Returned from this business I notice right away after less than 30 min of cutting and chopping the knives needed a touch up on the pull through sharpener. Before I took these into get "sharpened" even after 30 years I would use the sharpener approximately twice a month. I knew something was not correct. Then I pulled my wife's 4 star that we purchased 4 years ago... The issue, the angle placed by the guys doing the sharpening. The angle from the factory is 15 degrees not the unknown angle placed on all my knives by this company. They are professionals and should know the difference. I'm sure these are not the first Henckels brought into the shop, they should already KNOW what I found out with a cursory Google search. The takeaway: STAY AWAY from these idiots who sharpen knives to a spec that I can only surmise is to keep you coming back for a sharpening. Now I have to find real professionals who can maybe restore my knives. Or I guess I'll spend another $350+ to replace my beloved knives.

I have bought multiple items from their showroom for my kitchen, and have had my knives sharpened by them. They are very knowledgeable, and nothing but excellent service. By far the best in St. Louis!

Super fast. And the customer service was what you would expect from a family owned business.

It had been many years since my last visit to Kitchen Conservatory, we had gone to the previous…read morelocation and had an average time but after a decade or so I decided it was time to try again. Wrong. There were two simultaneous pasta classes going. Our group seemed to have no clear direction. There were two pasta rollers and each kept malfunctioning with the handles falling off. It was at this point one couple left. It only went downhill from there. My sister kept saying we should just leave but I wanted to learn how to make pasta! And I paid a lot for this class so i was going to learn! But I did not. The revolt began and people just began cooking on their own (which in the end turned out quite well!!) just so we could eat at some point. We could hear the other class drinking wine and sitting down to eat, and our lasagna wasn't even in the oven yet. Another ominous sign. Our chef was very kind but it was clear he was not ready for this. It was my second and last visit to the KC, I walked away with no additional skills. Waste of 3.5 hours (though the class was scheduled for only 2.5) and 65 bucks.

I took a wine and food paring class. The facility is very nice with a curved seating counter. The…read moreplace is roomy. The class wasn't exactly a cooking class but the chef gave us recipes and further demonstration when questions came up. Every dish was delicious. The store part of the place has pot, pans, kitchen gadgets, and some gourmet food items. I'm giving it a 4 because their items are on the pricier side.

I like Ikea. It's not usually a quick in & out thing. I go when I want a browsing shopping…read moreexperience. It's a little more self-service than I like. Who wants to pick up and load a sofa? Not I. I bought a new sofa at Ikea late last year. For a small fee (under $40), it was delivered. The restaurant on the third floor was a must-visit, but now food is pricier (everywhere, not just here). Still, maybe it's worthwhile for an old-time experience of sitting sit in a department store eating a warm meal in front of those big windows with views of Midtown and other areas of the city. Room for improvement: I think the store should open a little earlier than 11 a.m. on Sundays.

I miss having an IKEA in my backyard. So when a friend asked me if I wanted to go there on a recent…read morevisit to STL, I said yes. We went at 10 AM, thinking that was when they opened. To our surprise, the opening time has changed to 11 AM. We left and came back at 11. Both of us always enjoy the displays that show you what you can do with specific amounts of square footage. The merchandising team at IKEA are so creative, they make use of every bit of space in their examples. IKEA is a huge store, but you can't get lost. All you gotta do is follow the arrows painted on the floor. They're there from start to finish. They'll lead you through; furniture, accessories, housewares, plants and more. When the arrows lead us through the frames and artwork, we got a giggle that they had copies of the Mona Lisa and Starry Night. My favorite area is the housewares, I can always find something that I need in my kitchen. However, on this visit I found a coat tree for my front foyer in the accent furniture area. It's going to be nice to have something to hand my coat on instead of throwing it on the chair. If you need assistance there's always an associate working nearby. As I shopped, I did notice the prices weren't as low as they use to be, but that is the case almost everywhere. However, it's still a good value.
