I haven't heard of this store so I decided to look and I was pleasantly surprised. Aroma of a coffee shop was evident. Complimentary coffee was delicious. They specialize in gourmet kitchen items, popcorn and candy. All coffee is bulk bean but they will grind as well Flavored and unflavored is their specialty and they sell by the pound and or pre packaged. Popcorn store is located in its own section which offers samples of both. Linda was very helpful and knowledgeable of the fudge and popcorn. Fudge sample was a banana cheesecake and a sherbet that was delicious, popcorn samples were cheesecake as well and spicy popcorn x3. This area smelled popcorn fresh. Had to go back to the Chef's Shoppe for some more lemon balsamic vinaigrette. This is a must stop shop for all things kitchen, unique gifts and tasty treats. They have a wide variety of fresh ground coffees (by the pound so you can try several before committing), numerous oil and vinegar options, a tasting bar featuring specialty items to sample, assortment of candies by the pound, homemade fudge, and a plethora of fresh made popcorns. I was waited on by a young man named Charles, who was one of the friendly sales associates that I have encountered in a long time. He was very helpful and patient. This store just amazes me every time I shop here. What impresses me most is the fact that it is privately owned. The merchandise is top of the line and they also have some unique and original gift ideas. Best of all, when I do shop here, I am shopping local. In addition to having every kitchen gadget, gizmo and cookware that you could possibly want, CS also offers fresh coffee and loose leaf tea. If you are in need of a snack, they've got you covered as well with their gourmet popcorn. They offer so many flavors, I can never leave with a couple junior sized bags of some of my favorite flavors. My most recent visit, I finally tried their in house made fudge. OMG - the Orange Dream won me over & I'm not a fan of fudge. It truly tasted like a orange sherbet and vanilla twist cone. The customer service here is also top notch. The entire staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Be ware of the ladies in the popcorn area, they like to offer samplings, which can lead to you buying more bags of the delicious and freshly popped snack. If I could I'd give this place a ZERO RATING. I stood in line to order some popcorn the kid waiting on people looks right past me and waits on the "white lady" behind me, takes care of her then tries to call me "sir" to wait on me I'm already walking out of the store. I wanted an Elephant cookie cutter and I figured this place would have one; they did! They actually had two styles! I love Elephants and I decided I wanted to make some Ellie sugar cookies for hubby's co-workers! They had just what I wanted. They have a huge selection of cookie cutters on the back wall. I also picked up a donut pan while I was there. I've been wanting to try making baked donuts. I love to cook and bake, so whenever I walk into this shop, my first thought is; I want one of everything! I could spend hours just looking at all the baking and cooking equipment and tools. I can't imagine them not having what you need or want. The selection is amazing! Like most of the other reviews say, if you love to cook, this is the place for you. I love that the products they have are high quality. They may be a bit more expensive, but I've learned, sometimes you get what you pay for. I bake a lot, so it's worth it to me to get the good stuff. Hubby bought me an XOXO cookie sheet from them and it's the best cookie sheet I've ever used! I refuse to use any other brand now! I love to come to this store and just look around even if I don't need anything at the moment. I can always find something I think needs to come home with me! I was surprised I hadn't done a review on this little shop. It was about time I took care of that! If you need a gift for someone who loves to cook, I would highly suggest coming here! The Chef's Shoppe is a great specialty kitchen store. I recently bought a few items and returned one when I realized it wasn't dishwasher safe. Who wants to hand wash anything anymore? Not me. Anyway, the return process was pretty painless except the clerk kept explaining how easy it is to hand wash the pan I was returning. I'm not interested in getting dish pan hands! I would shop around for some of the items in the store. Their prices seem to be a bit higher than other stores in the area. Some of the items they carry are available at the local BBB at a lower price, especially with a 20% off coupon. I digress as I am known to pay more for service at a local business instead of a chain. However, there is a ceiling of how much more I'm willing to pay. In some instances, Chef's Shoppe's prices are above that ceiling. read more

This is a lovely little store, really. Pricing varies. Kitchen textiles, I find them to be a bit high. Some of those oven mitts and aprons you can find cheaper elsewhere. Overall, you're looking at Williams-Sonoma prices, but without the drive to Plaza Frontenac. A little cramped in the store, wish there was a bit more space. Staff is a bit young, so know what you're looking for, since they're unknowledgeable when it comes to the products. Although, there are a couple of older ladies during the day that do know their cookware. If you sign up for their email alerts, you know when they're going to have a 10% off everything in the store on Saturdays. Which helps if you're eyeballing a new Lecreuset dutch oven. Overall, I recommend this store to any closet gadget collecting women and cooks in general. read more

They've got pretty much all the gadgets, pans, utensils, accessories, and on and on that you could possibly want or need in your kitchen. They've also generally got a good spread of products from top of the line to more cost effective options. They've also always got a nice assortment of seasonal products. If you are a home chef or baker, novice or expert, this place will be very helpful to you. They also sell various mixes like cheeseball and cake and bread mixes. Also they have spice mixes and all that jazz. All really good stuff. Tastiest of all, they've got fudge. Tasty, tasty fudge. What an amazing store! When you walk in, you're immediately greeted by their friendly staff. Then, you realize that you're not just walking into any regular kitchen store. This store is truly a hidden gem. If you are at all serious about cooking, you'll love visiting this store. There is a gadget wall that has everything you can even imagine. There is a huge selection of cookware, ranging from Le Cruset to All-Clad. There is a display for the Big Green Egg grills and all the fun accessories. It's the perfect store for a wedding registry or anyone who just likes to cook. Holy popcorn! With over 70 varieties of popcorn all made in-house, I've truly never seen anything like it. As someone who lives in Chicago and has regular access to the famous Garrett's popcorn, I can truly say that the popcorn at Chef's Shoppe knocks the socks off Garrett's popcorn. While Garrett's popcorn often gets soggy and has a stale flavor after even a day, the popcorn at Chef's Shoppe remains fresh when sealed in an airtight container and still tastes fresh for days on end. Plus Garrett's has a greasiness that just makes it less appetizing. Personally, I love the dill pickle and beer flavored varieties, but the great thing about Chef's Shoppe is that there is literally something for everyone. The Chef's Shoppe is a must-have for me around the holidays because my friends and family love getting popcorn! i live around the corner from this place. I have been in buying little things here and there. This past Christmas i was looking to buy my gf a set of wusthof knifes for a gift. I went in to the store and was helped by the owner. They were extremely busy because me like most guys were shopping the Monday and Tuesday before Christmas. She took alot of time and gave me a great education on the knifes and what made them worth so much more then others. I ended up buying a set along with some other extra knifes. after i got home with my perches i was curious what they sell for at online retailers. I always expect to pay more at these locally owned specialty shops but as long as its not double it normally does not bother me. After looking online i found out it was less here then the online retailers. I still br all my friends and family about how this shops pricing is better then online stores and the people working here are knowledgeable about there products and that alone is hard to find. Big thumbs up for these guys and keep up the great work. I have now been in the shop trying to buy things like champagne glasses or cutting boards before i go to a big box store. so take my advice. What a place! I had their cake and popcorn yesterday which was amazing! I used to live in Chicago and consumed the famous Garrett's popcorn on multiple occasions and Cheffs Shoppe is actually better. I highly recommend them and will be returning in the near future. read more

I will no longer shop at the Chef Shoppe after a rather rude e-mail from what I'm guessing is the owner, Nancy Schneider. A newsletter was sent out that had a word the I thought Nancy had meant as wine and instead was typed wind, I made a small joke when I sent a personal e-mail back and even added LOL, trying to let her know that a mistake had been made. (Nancy had always been very pleasant, up to this point) Nancy responded back, "Yes I live auto correct and people who have nothing better to do with their time than to point out other peoples mistakes." This is a direct quote. I was floored, I sent a message back immediately to her telling her I was sorry and it sounded like I had offended her and I was just trying to help. I cannot believe a local store owner would be so utterly rude to a customer. Not the type of business I care any longer to spend my money. Word of mouth is the best advertisement. OMG...the popcorn and fudge are to die for. And I love the cake balls. I had a great time in the store wandering through the aisles. It was a Saturday and really busy, but the staff was extremely helpful and directed me right to the items I originally came in for. Prices are much higher than Walmart or Target, but you get what you pay for. The quality and customer service are much better than a chain store. This store definitely doesn't do cheap. However, I will definitely be coming back again and again. I have my eye on some All-Clad pans. read more

Bag of Kernels. I have been going to this place for a couple of years and for the first time actually got a bag of Kettle Corn that had mostly kernles. Do not know why because they were really not that busy at teh time. Did not ever mind paying the brice for good Pop Corn, and still don't I would say just check before you leave to make sure you were not given the bottom of a barrel. read more
