This is a great place with friendly, knowledgeable and caring staff every time I've been in. I have bought gift cards, an entire shop setup, and a few classes even. Tonight I took the wine stopper and cheeseboard class and it was a lot of fun. Small group and personal instruction. The supplies are of adequate quantity and quality as well. One of my favorite things is how you can explain the project you are working on and the staff all really are curious to learn and advise on a few ways and supplies to pull off the trick. Horrible customer service! I ordered a Stanley Jr. gift set for my son on 12/15/2022. I have checked online to see the status of my order and it says "In Progress." It has been 9 days and I still have not received my order or any answer on the status. I realize it is a busy time of year and things get caught up in the mail but after 5 days of calling they cannot even tell me if it has shipped out. It is coming from the vendor and they have emailed but not called them. One customer service rep went as far as telling me she understands my frustration because she is waiting on Christmas items as well. Really?? I called again this morning and they told me that they have to wait until the person who sent the email (5 days ago) comes in to see if she has gotten a response and then they can call. I have honestly not ever encountered this level of poor customer service. I would think twice before ordering from this company. I have talked to several people and none of them care!! read more

I came out to Woodcraft to pick up a specific brand of stain I needed for a personal project...I built a desk! While I'd love to pretend I'm super handy, but the truth is my pops was the brains behind the project. Me no math well. I just yolo'd on through it. He has much more project experience than I do and recommended I check out Woodcraft. They had a ton of water-based stains to choose from but they were out of the one I wanted. I grabbed a different one just in case. The employees were helpful and they have complimentary coffee and popcorn when you enter. I didn't partake but a sweet gig for a hardware store. Sooooo I ended up not using the stain I bought but we kept it anyways. It might be of use for a future project. We had to go elsewhere to pick up the original stain I wanted. And yes, my desk looks good. read more

Great chain of stores! I've shopped the local version for years and am always amazed at the depth of knowledge they possess. I've yet to ask these guys a question they couldn't answer...including today's inquiry about rehabbing some teak patio furniture we just picked up. Off Craig's List and without even getting murdered. My daughter and I have been woodworking for about ten years( she is only 23 now) doing intarsia, scrollwork, and even some furniture making. I've always done lathe work making bowls and larger turning projects and it interested her. She wanted to get me my want list and got me into pen turning. I am not a professional woodworker (weekend warrior) but when we arrived at the local woodcraft store 45 miles away they were pro!! They treated my daughter as a person not a tag-a-long, We both had questions. The gentleman that helped us answered all of our questions didn't try to oversell us and we walked out with an understanding from his knowledge and advice that we were confident and ready to go... needless to say we are having so much fun in this new adventure! Unique supplies but when I went to buy a tool with the standard sticker price on it for $74 the cashier said "This rings up at $124, so there must have been a price increase in the computer and you will have pay $124 even though the price listed on the tool is $74." This is a top-notch shop for woodworkers. They stock hand tools (like the Veritas line of hand planes and an assortment of Japanese hand saws), power equipment (from SawStop to Laguna to Festool), clamps, sharpening stones, abrasives, and raw materials like live edge wood slabs and pen blanks for turning. This place is staffed by experts. Each employee has a particular focus of interest: veneers, hand planing, finishes, lathing. If you are there on a particular day, they kind of play tag team and can answer just about any question. And you don't get that feel like this place isn't for beginners. In fact, I think that they love beginners. I've been most impressed with their advice for wood restoration. They have helped me with rotted thresholds, unstable sapwood in a bench, and water rings on a kitchen table. Each time, cell phone photos and a brief history were enough info to come up with a solution. I can't comment on their classes since I haven't taken any of them. Recommended for the veteran looking for specialized woodworking tools AND beginners who are interested in starting their first project. read more

They've got some cool exotic and domestic wood scraps which are helpful for my projects. They do have you sign up for their mailing list BEFORE you can purchase anything and today I might've met the pushiest salesperson. He was a gentlemen in his 40s or 50s, I think named Craig but I'm not 100%. He asked me for my phone number and I said "I'd prefer not to" and he gave me a look like I had just asked him to quit his job... He then asked for other details which I gave, expecting them to be mundane, until he asked for my email address which I politely declined. Then he asked me "Are you still not going to give your phone number?" Which struck me as being quite rude for something so simple for him to ignore for this transaction. He then asked for my birth month and I was expecting a grin or chuckle at how invasive your system is, but no he was serious. I mean even at Harbor Freight, where customer service aint exactly a priority, I said "I'd prefer not to" and have never been hassled just so I can buy some cheap tools I bought a $5 beam of wood, my first purchase here, and can say I left with a bad taste in my mouth at the employee's handling of a simple request not to share personal information. read more

Beware - Woodcraft sales discounts not always applied!! On Saturday July 26, 2008 Woodcraft had a 10% off sale all day, Plus a 5% Early Bird sale for people who arrived before 10:00am. I arrived around 9am and received the orange coupon for an additional 5% off. At 10:18 (after waiting in line to check out - there were 5 people before me in line) I checked out. Today (Tuesday) I go to enter the credit card receipt into my accounting package and noticed that I got the 10% off but not the 5% off. So, I called the store and spoke with Larry. Neither the manager nor assistant manager was available to speak with me in resolving this problem. I explained about not receiving the 5% and Larry kept telling me that I could not receive the 10% off twice. But, I didn't want the 10% off twice, only the 10% (once) and the 5% early discount! I will have to call back and speak with the manager. Called back and spoke with Mike, the assistant manager. He pulled my receipt and verified that I did not receive the 5%. If I give him my credit card number he will credit the $10.35 to my card. I still don't see why I need to call Woodcraft to get the discount that should have been given me at the beginning. Follow-up: Some of the items purchased received more than the 15% discount, some less. I can't see any pattern as to the application of the discount. I wonder about all of my fellow woodworkers, who did not pay attention to their reciepts and did not get the entire discount they were entitled to. read more

Great shop! As a new woodturner, finding the right tools can be a bit overwhelming... this place has damn near everything you'd need to get started. Which means you will probably spend a small fortune too. There's certain things I'd buy here but there are also other items I would prefer to buy online just due to cost and sometimes online you don't have to pay sales tax or even shipping. But there is really no dollar value on the advice you can get from the people who work here. Plus did I mention they have an entire room of WOOD? AHHHH. I love wood!! I will probably come back here eventually to further browse their wood selection and maybe purchase a couple of small turning blanks of exotic woods to try out once I am a little more skilled. I did purchase a plastic shop vac vent from here and the tube that attaches to it so I can set it up behind my lathe to collect dust from sanding, though I am still in need of an actual vac system itself. I also got a pusher stick here for my radial arm saw, cause that thing is scary asf, LOL. I would love to come back here and take a class! I hope they have some good beginner turning classes and that they are affordable. read more
