Stopped in on our way to the Knight Monsters game. Service was great. They truly made us feel like we were regulars and it was our first time in. We picked the club sandwhich and basic burger. This was the first time my partner was able to order a regular burger without having to ask for anything to be left off. There's usually an aeoli or secret sauce, but this time it truly was the basics and it held up until the last bite. Club was also spot on. A classic that they did very well. Solid restaurant next to the Safeway in Zephyr's Cove where we usually shop for groceries when we are in South Lake Tahoe. We stopped by after spending the afternoon paddle boarding and kayaking at Kiva Beach, tired and hungry. Not surprisingly, we ordered a LOT of food, to-go, so we could eat back at our timeshare unit at The Ridge. Standouts: - pepperoni pizza ($19.95) - chicken flautas appetizer ($14.95) with nacho chips and cheese - cinnamon churros ($6.95) served with rich chocolate and caramel sauces Everything else we ordered - Hawaiian burger, regular cheeseburger, fried chicken sandwich, spicy chicken wings - was adequate. I appreciated that they gave us ranch and ketchup packets and a lot of napkins! I was a little surprised they charged us an 18% large party gratuity even though there were only 4 of us and we took the food to go. We didn't even hang around waiting for our order - we went shopping next door at Safeway for car snacks for the drive back home. Total bill after tax and the aforementioned gratuity was about $160. They have two dining areas, and I noticed they have Guinness on tap, so wouldn't mind stopping by again on our next trip for pizza and churros. read more

I went here twice in one week while we were staying in town. Both times I walked in I was greeted with a very warm welcome and smile. The first night I picked up two pizzas and chicken wings to go. My favorite was the Buffalo wings (and wings are not typically my favorite). The second visit I got our lunch to go and again, the food was delicious! I got the burger and fries and wow, so good! Came here since we were craving an American diner. Seemed like there were a bunch of regulars at this restaurant. Favorite would have to be the waffles from chicken and waffles and bbq wings. The waffles were sweet and had the cake flavor almost like dessert. Bbq wings were delicious, chicken was nice and tender. Ordered tostada too which had guacamole, beans, cheese, lettuce, and chicken. Delicious crust. Ordered fish and chips as well and was solid. 6 different dishes came out to around $138 with tip. Super yummy food, we went there for Father's Day breakfast! The prices? HIGH! Red Hut a mile away is less, and open longer, but we were here, and the food was near! The ONLY issue I noted is that STOP BREAKFAST AT NOON! Now, I like a late one sometimes, we just made the cutoff We ate outside, and dogs are ok out there (not that we brought ours), so not sure about inside, looks like a regular diner. Various seating options, all with umbrellas, I prefer a chair to the picnic table options. The food? tasty! But it is weird, they do NOT INCLUDE TOAST in a 2 eggs and chicken fried steak meal? why? I found the food to be decent, but nothing stood out too much. My breakfast sandwich was a little burnt, but the flavor was good! I definitely got a good amount of food with my order. I was a bit let down by the chicken and waffles. The chicken was alright but the waffles were incredibly soggy. I think portion sizes were good though, and that everything was affordable. This place is a hidden gem. Locally owned and they support a lot of charities and local businesses. This is where I discovered Dad & Son owned local hot sauce, which was amazing, I drenched it all over the hash-browns and added a dap on the egg Benedicts. We asked them where we can get the hot sauce and they were very knowledgeable. They gave us the backstory on the hot sauce and said the safeway next door supports their business and sells them there. After our meal, we definitely stopped by Safeway and bought 2 of their hot sauce to go. The place is nice and quiet, perfect for having a nice conversation with your group. It is very rare to see a diner place now a days that actually serve really good maple syrup (other diners always serve us table syrup, which I hate). They only serve maple syrup and it's from Vermont. The eggs benedict itself was okay, the hollandaise sauce was a little sweet for me. I would love it to have a hint of cajun seasoning to amplify the taste. The Swedish crepe was amazing - 10/10 would definitely order again. I am so glad we stopped by here. read more

Just stopped in here on my husband's birthday for lunch while we are in Tahoe. They waiter stared at us for a few minutes before he even asked how many for a table. We finally sat down and myself and daughter ran to the restroom. There was a chair sitting directly across from the toilet. The bathroom desperately needed a DEEP cleaning and there was also no toilet paper. The menus were covered in old food. The ceiling had decor that looked as if it was hung for an event and forgotten about months ago. There were dirty napkins under tables and overall I was scared to eat there because of the severe lack in cleanliness. We waited at least 15 minutes without even being acknowledged other than when the waiter brought food we hadn't ordered to our table. We left before we could even order drinks. The only positive was they provided coloring pages and a bucket of crayons for our girls. Maybe think twice before coming here. read more

Stopped here briefly during a two day trip to Lake Tahoe and have enjoyed eating here. We got a meal and a sandwich and I will be honest - their hash browns are the best I have ever tasted. Stateline was so busy that hubby and I wanted to avoid the crowds after dealing with them all weekend. We were looking for somewhere quieter for breakfast before heading home on Sunday morning. We checked out of our hotel and started driving in towards Zephyr. I have fond Summer memories spent at a cabin on Elks point Rd that brought us into Casey's American Cantina! I knew worst case scenario we could grab a sandwich or something at this busy Safeway. Casey's was super busy and we got there before noon, so we could still order breakfast. I was stoked to sit down and enjoy a strong cup of Joe! This place does it right! I ordered two eggs medium with smothered hashbrowns. Added on onions, raw sliced jalapeños and sliced melted cheese for additional $1 for each. I was disappointed with the hashbrowns, but they weren't greasy. Hubby ordered the chilli cheese omlette with a bloody Mary! We both enjoyed our food and coffee. The service was superb and exceeded all of my expectations! They were jam packed and everyone helped and pulled their weight. It's nice to see a team work like a well oiled machine! I'll be back next time we're passing through or staying in South Lake! We arrived at Caseys on Monday night around 6:30pm, and the restaurant was packed!! All of the tables were taken. On Monday night, there is live music in a separate room. Before getting seated, it was really nice of the waitress to alert us of the live music and if we can tolerate the loud noise. My daughter didn't like it, so we decided to wait for a regular table. Caseys has a nice kids menu with lots of variety. My daughter had kraft Mac and cheese. We decided to order the bowl of Guinness Irish stew, and it was so tasty!! The stew had chunks of beef, potatoes, and carrots. I really loved it. My husband had the western burger and he really loved it. I ordered 2 pork enchiladas which came with rice, beans, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, and about 6 chips. The enchiladas was really good. The portion size is huge, too. She specifically recommended their mahi mahi fish tacos (and ofc, fish and chips). FOOD - Fish and chips: well fried, and it's huge!! The tartar sauce was good and seemed homemade. Fries could be crispier but still good. Would definitely recommend this dish. - Monster burrito with steak: average imo but decent flavor wise. Steak was a bit tough and tortilla chips was kind of stale. - Cup of chili: good for the soul. Apparently it was voted best in Tahoe so we had to try. I haven't had a bad cup of chili and I'm glad Casey's hasn't proved me otherwise. SERVICE Friendly service. We came for early dinner on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. Food came out quickly after we ordered. LOCATION/VIBES Location is convenient, right next to a Safeway with plenty of parking. Not too far from South Lake Tahoe. This was hands-down, a spot and a brunch to remember. My family and I have 12 came with our dogs, but we're hesitant at first because we saw a sign that said no dogs. But then the owner had come out and greeted my family and I and told us that all is welcome and he would love for us to come in and enjoy the food there. We felt immediately welcomed, considering we had our dogs in a big group when we walked into the café, we got greeted immediately by our server and the customer service there was out of this world. This is definitely a place you should come and bring your family and dogs, he even has little treats for the dogs that come in too. Used to really like this place. Was just here a couple of months ago when I was in town. Then, I went in yesterday and all the prices have been jacked up $4-$5 per menu item. I understand some inflation but $20 for a salad at a glorified dive bar is ridiculous. It's really a shame as the people there are nice and this was always a low key chill place to grab a reasonably priced bite to eat and drink, but now you may as well go to the California side of state line for better food for the same jacked up prices. read more

We were looking for a place to grab a cup of coffee and maybe a baked item to hit the road back to Reno. We just went cruising through the Safeway plaza and found Casey's. What a fortunate find! A real locals joint. We were seated immediately (on a Saturday at 11AM). I had the spinach eggs benedict. It was made with a sausage patty and fresh spinach. The hollandaise had to be fresh as it was so delicious and not bright yellow (from a pre-mix). Husband had the 4-egg Denver omelet and ate every bite. The hash browns were cooked to crunchy perfection. I am not usually one to make overt comments on the virus and how establishments handle it, but in this case I will say, I thought it was cool that there was a mini hand-sanitizer on every table. Well I searched the photos to see if I could find a picture of Nachos. I found one from 8 years ago. This chef should check out that pic to see how to actually prepare nachos. We ordered Ground Beef Nachos. Why I did not take a picture of the over cooked nachos are beyond me. The chips on top were burnt. The cheese overcooked and about a cup of plain very dry ground beef dumped on top. Not guac, no sour cream, no pico or salsa. As we worked thru the tasteless chips to get to the middle of the pile. There were refries and nicely melted cheese. For $20.00 it was a big disappointment. Myself and friends will not be back. But today my large cup of ice & water cost me $2.28 when in the past I paid only $ .65 So I left it sitting on the counter, and the cashier started drinking from it for FREE, HOW can water last night cost $ .65 then today cost $2.28 ?
