Been wanting to try this place for some time. We were able to make it there for happy hour. Food: Had the French fries and they were perfect. Cocktails: Cocktails are awesome here. The house margarita on happy hour was fantastic. Definitely one of the best I've had in the area. Not to many places offer real margaritas Service was perfect and the place was really awesome on the inside. Great decor. We will be returning for a full meal and cocktails. We drove 10 miles yesterday to eat lunch at what we thought was Beso Cocina, but were unpleasantly surprised when we saw that it is now labelled Blast & Brew. The menu now includes only a few generic Mexican dishes and a single Margarita, apparently to keep folks like us from just turning around and going home (I was very tempted). They don't even have anything like the broad beer selection like that at the Arroyo Grande Blast & Brew, which has many of their own very good brews. We got the Chile Verde nachos, but it was tough to find much Chile Verde. They nicely split the order into two plates without our asking, apparently because we indicated that we would be sharing and charged $5 for that useless "improvement". Adding two tiny containers of dipping sauces for the Truffle Fries added $1.50 each (no one mentioned that they were "extra"). We don't care about the added cost, but this seems like a sleazy attempt to squeeze as much revenue as possible from patrons. We certainly will never go back. read more

Please please do away with the consistently egregiously sh** music. For the love of all that is holy, Stop! Food is delightful. Beautifully presented and always wonderful. Service is great and we love this place. We would be here a lot more as we live less than1m away, if it were not for the god awful 'country music'. Please just shut it off. Your chef clearly has attention to detail and is a prodigy. We loved the tortillas and butter you previously served, but the freshly fried tortilla chips, fresh homemade salsa and sauces were delightful and a much appreciated prelude to our lovely meal. We love the speakeasy. The bartender is absolutely wonderful. Best cocktails I've ever had. I would argue he is the best in the county. Frankly I love to just request 'dealers choice' and he makes the most amazing drinks I've ever had. Fun way to spend a weekend evening. Can I please just say one more time, get rid of this horrific noise. We love the DJ in the speakeasy! So cool, and great music in there. Even if we are not completely vibing with it, it's curated and inoffensive. Can I say, what a joy to have Beso in our neighborhood. We love this place (just NOT this 'music'). We come in for breakfast/brunch or dinner and the music is so annoying/uncomfortable/noxious, that we leave before ordering desert, etc. would hang out longer, would be in more frequently if not for that one big adversity. It takes a month or more to extinct the unpleasantness of the 'music' , we come in and there it is, all over again and we are reminded of why we don't visit more. Please fix this!! read more

Lots of wonderful explosions of flavors! We sat in the bar area and the ambiance was good and people dining around us were very friendly. The bartender was a little slow but was to be expected since he was tending the bar and taking care the tables too. We ordered steak bites, truffle fries, chipotle shrimp and bruschetta. Our server was very attentive. Drinks were refilled and extra napkins arrived without us having to ask. The reception desk could improve on greeting folks on arrival. I came in to eat with an old friend on Thursday. It was relatively pretty slow around 6PM and it started ramping up at around 7. The server was really friendly and helped me choose a really tasty cocktail! I rarely eat steak, but I thoroughly enjoyed my Hangar Steak!! I couldn't finish it all and took it to work the next day. If I'm being honest - Would not recommend, and will not go back again. It's not anything special and most of the food has no flavor at all. Service is really meh, had to ask for more water a couple times, and asked for a straw various times from different people and never ended up getting one from anyone. We ordered the jalapeño poppers, steak bites and the shrimp which were all very bland. When we asked the server what kind of cut the steak was, he said it was "just steak" and looked annoyed (or utterly confused, who could really tell). We ordered one of the cocktails and it was fine but also had no flavor. We ordered a few pizzas as our entrees and they were similarly very bland, and tasted like cheap take-out pizza. Got it -- here's a more casual, friendly, and slightly longer version you could post as a review: Beso Cocina in Nipomo is hands down one of the best food spots I've been to in a while! Everything we ordered was incredible. The asada flatbread was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of flavor in every bite. The chimichanga was stuffed full of fresh, tasty ingredients and so satisfying. And the shrimp enchiladas...wow. It was my first time ever trying shrimp enchiladas, and they completely blew me away--loaded with shrimp and covered in a sauce that tied it all together perfectly. On top of the amazing food, the vibe was warm and welcoming, and you can really tell the kitchen puts a lot of care into what they serve. This place is definitely a must-try if you're in the area. I'm already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu! Ambiance was quiet in the beginning, but got quite busy later in the evening (on a week night). Lowered Expectations Do Help... Beso's made a number of adjustments during the past few years which worked out for the better, but this was an interesting experience. Family from Los Angeles came for a visit so we went to Beso for dinner on a Saturday. I called at 1045 AM...made a reservation for 6 PM...and got a text confirmation. Then around 2 PM, I got a text saying our reservation was at 645 PM. I called and they said "the manager realized we had a big party this evening so he moved you". I replied "that's not how things work. You can call me and ask". Anyway, we arrived at 6 PM and got a table. The party was the "Winter Formal" for 100+ students and their parents/chaperones from Nipomo High School. It was big, but everyone was on their best behavior. Our server, Hailey, said they only had 3 employees covering the room because the Winter Formal was a last minute reservation. She did an excellent job juggling our food and orders from everyone else. All 3 workers really hustled. Our table ordered a Calamari appetizer ($12)...Asian Crunch Salad ($20)...Branzino ($32)...Steak Tampiqueno ($28)...Margherita Pizza ($16) and a Mixed Green Salad ($12). Everything was good - not great. The highlight was a bowl of tortilla chips which were thick and tasted homemade. Oh...and one other thing - the pizza never arrived. But the mixed green salad was big and an extra bowl of chips was filling so I couldn't tell the difference. Hailey said the kitchen would make it free so we could take it home, but I declined her generous offer. Drinks were an 805 Draft Ale ($6)...a margarita ($14) and a glass of Grey Wolf Grenache ($16). We had a party of five and enjoyed Beso immensely. My wife and I had specialty cocktails which were absolutely amazing. Three friends each had a martini which they said were excellent, as well. Moving on from the cocktails to the food, all five of us ordered something different and, to a person, loved what we were eating. Not only were the dishes delicious, but the pricing is amazingly reasonable. Sometimes a restaurant has excellent food and drink, but it is spoiled by the service. Not at Beso. For the life of me, I can't remember our server's name, but I do remember that evening was her third day on the job. Third day, and her service, her personality, her efficiency - all were superb. My only critique would be the ambience. We got inside and out was pretty nice. Clean and spacious our server was ok, not too friendly but at the same time not rude. I think of we had better service and more personable it would've made the visit that much better. The appetizers were really good, we ordered several of them. The queso dip, jalapeño poppers, and poke tacos. No complaints there. However once we got our main course over half of the table got steaks and every single steak came out medium well to well done. Specially since most of us ordered it medium rare. I let our server know and he brought it back and got me a new one. The next one came out rare, I'm guessing to avoid over cooking it. I kept my mouth shut this time and just ate it. Better more rare than over cooked. The one plus is they have a hidden bar through a cabinet. If you ask they'll escort you back there. Unfortunately by the time we were done eating they were already closing up so we couldn't try any of the drinks. They have a separate menu than the restaurant. If you want to come for appetizers and drinks I recommend coming here. If you want steak this is not the place to go. Hence my 3 star rating. I expect better for the price. read more

Being a local from the area and being that I have given this place (3) shots, it's now time to review. Honestly, it has potential but with some major flaws. I want to 1st start out with the "newly" offered wings (yes they truly are different then a Blast wing) who offers a wing plate with not side of Blue cheese or ranch? I was upcharged for ranch, and not just a range but some Sh$tty watered of green ranch, literally charged extra, never in my life have I seen wings not served with ranch, "so just eat my carrots and celery dry?" Wtf!?!? It's a mixed of crap and awesome, the drinks.... Awesome (5 stars) but the kitchen should consider another line of work, maybe drywall or landscaping and it's not the kitchen staff, it's who's making the decisions in the kitchen, that person should be embarrassed and hopefully the owner reads this or is told about this but that person should be literally fired, because that 1 person will take down this entire location for Blast, slowly. It's obvious that that person egotistical, possibly narcissistic and might even be somewhat racist against white people. It shows. I love the bar but don't order any food because you have now idea if it's good or microwave food and you have no idea what they're gonna charge you for honestly, I'm surprised they don't charge you for using their napkins. Ambiance, not super great, again I like the bat area but the rest or the "normal" restaurant area has always been uncomfortable and it's hard to say why. read more

My wife ordered the cheese enchiladas. The tortilla was cold, the cheese inside was only half melted, yet somehow the top was piping hot. It just wasn't consistent or enjoyable. I ordered the Asian chicken salad, and the chicken tasted like it had been cooked the day before and reheated -- that tough, dry texture you immediately recognize. The one bright spot? Fun, large alcohol selection bar inside if you like to drink/bar scene. Large screen TV. Really clean and modern in appearance inside and outside. Very friendly and attentive service. We had finished golfing at Monarch Dunes and was heading to Pismo for the night. We passed by Beso Cocina and it was very inviting and so we thought we would check it out. We got there early, it was about 5 o'clock so we had the place to ourselves. We sat in the bar area and Evan waited on us, he was wonderful! They have bar specials during the weeknights and a really great menu to choose from. I had the chili Verde and it was amazing! My husband had the fish and chips. They tasted good and he loved that it came with a salad as well as fries, but the batter was a little thicker than he liked. My favorite thing, however, was the spicy cucumber jalapeño margarita! So good! Both of them : ) The chips and salsa they bring you before your meal are excellent, all freshly made. I texted a local friend while we were there and she said ask them about the secret speakeasy. I guess it only happens on the weekends so it's something we definitely wanna check out in the future. We were pleasantly surprised. On arrival, We saw one server with about 8 tables seated, one of which was a table of 6-8. I was hungry and not sure this was a great idea; but after a small initial wait , we got our drinks and our food in short order. The seared tuna was fabulous. We also had a mixed green salad, which was very generous and the blue crab soup was spectacularly resented I had steak tacos I had lime Crema instead of the salsa Roja. These were delicious. I especially love the beans and I don't necessarily love beans.. This server moved like lightning and really took on the challenge probably 10 or 12 people came after us a lot of them had come to see the musical talent, a male and female guitar acoustic duo that were also a pleasant surprise. Anyway, this server was on fire. The music was great and the food was outstanding. The only fault was, after reading reviews there were 2 items I wanted to try that were not available because they were serving a brunch menu, not the regular menu. Uniquely delicious although I'm not sure quite how to eat them at first watermelon salad was good but only three shrimp added little on the cheap side tacos or tacos so how can you screw them up? The night we went they had live music which was way too loud for dinner. Conversation belonged more in a bar setting or even after hours. The music itself was great and once we finished talking, it was great to sing along with some of the songs but a little over the top to enjoy a nice dinner lastly, the secret room to die for. This was my favorite part, a separate speakeasy bar and a quiet classy setting - can't wait to come back. Oh I forgot about the desserts couldn't choose so we had them both delicious. read more

Gosh everything. Food used to be decent, that's gone down the toilet. The place looks more and more awkward, with no tie in to the atmosphere despite being open for some time. The worst part is that tonight you hosted a comedy show, that people paid money to see, about the same as what the laugh factory and comedy clubs charge. It was so embarrassing and cringey that it felt like I went to a stoners mom's garage, sloppy and zero effort. We went here for lunch over the weekend and it was just okay. My in laws are regulars at the Arroyo Grande one, and it would be nice if things were more consistent between locations. This one does not have the weekend lunch specials, or the loyalty card that the other has. The food we got was just okay. It says "Oak Pit Tri Tip" but it's not. It tasted like day old reheated beef. The Tri Tip was tough and not great. There was zero oak pit flavor at all. The garlic bread was good, fries were decent. Ranch is good. The kids menu is AI slop. The word search is missing words, the connect the dots doesn't make any sense. The whole thing made my 5 year old frustrated and she asked why they would give her a connect the dots that didn't even have the right numbers on it. They have Mac and Cheese on the adult menu as a side, but no mention of it on the kids menu which is pretty crazy to me since most kids would pick that. My husband got Tri Tip added to his Nachos and they gave him Carne Asada instead. The food took FOREVER to come out of the kitchen. It took us an hour to get our food. Came by this past Saturday for the scheduled live music from 2-5 pm. Place is kind of in the middle of nowhere. It is not near bar/restaurants or retail stores. There is ample parking. Seating is inside and outside. Place can accommodate a lot of people. They also have a speakeasy type room located behind some nondescript doors. Small space but pretty cool. It was not active at the time. Live music was located in the outside patio furthest from the inside restaurant. I was greeted immediately upon entering and momentarily directed to a table. Place was mostly empty at the time and later got busier. Beer is priced nicely at $5 for a regular and $8 for a "mug." Staff gave me mixed information on the sizing (16 oz and 22 oz, 14 and 22, etc,). I ordered a beer, a bottle of wine, and calamari. Food and drinks came out timely and at right temperature. Calamari was good. Music was great. I love restaurants and bars that provide live music. I only knew about this place because I was following the musical duo. Ambiance is great. Ambiance - a solid 5 stars. It's super cute inside! The natural light from the big windows, plus all of the different lights throughout the restaurant give off such a pleasant vibe. The all black table linens and chairs provide an air of sophistication. Very chic! Drinks - 5 stars. My friend and I were both very happy with our drinks. Service - 4.5 stars.
