Lots of wonderful explosions of flavors! We sat in the bar area and the ambiance was good and people dining around us were very friendly. The bartender was a little slow but was to be expected since he was tending the bar and taking care the tables too. We ordered steak bites, truffle fries, chipotle shrimp and bruschetta. So many yummy items to choose from and had to narrow it down. The decor is very nice and classy.

This restaurant has closed. It is now called Blast and Brew. Same owners, different menu. Fortunately, a better chef. Go over to blast and brew to see my review.

I came in to eat with an old friend on Thursday. It was relatively pretty slow around 6PM and it started ramping up at around 7. The server was really friendly and helped me choose a really tasty cocktail! I rarely eat steak, but I thoroughly enjoyed my Hangar Steak!! I couldn't finish it all and took it to work the next day. It's pretty spacious inside. It kinda just looks like a better Blast. Can't wait to come back!

Got it -- here's a more casual, friendly, and slightly longer version you could post as a review: Beso Cocina in Nipomo is hands down one of the best food spots I've been to in a while! Everything we ordered was incredible. The asada flatbread was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of flavor in every bite. The chimichanga was stuffed full of fresh, tasty ingredients and so satisfying. And the shrimp enchiladas...wow. It was my first time ever trying shrimp enchiladas, and they completely blew me away--loaded with shrimp and covered in a sauce that tied it all together perfectly. On top of the amazing food, the vibe was warm and welcoming, and you can really tell the kitchen puts a lot of care into what they serve. This place is definitely a must-try if you're in the area. I'm already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu! Ambiance was quiet in the beginning, but got quite busy later in the evening (on a week night). The waitress flew solo and she did well to manage all 10 tables by herself.

I recently visited Beso and WOW -- what an experience! From the moment we walked in, the energy was on point. The place is absolutely beautiful inside -- such a vibe! The ambiance is next level, modern, stylish, and perfect for date night or a fun night out with friends. You can tell a lot of thought went into every detail. And the service? Top tier. Huge shoutout to Ash Cab for going above and beyond. Super attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect the entire time. That kind of service really makes a place stand out! The aguas frescas were so refreshing and full of flavor -- the perfect touch to an already amazing meal. Everything from the food presentation to the atmosphere was 10/10. Beso is definitely a must-visit spot. Make sure to check out the speakeasy as well! We'll absolutely be back!

The mock tail saved the night(watermelon cucumber), but we got the enchilada blanco and hanger steak were okay.. enchiladas had an interesting flavor maybe too much cumin in the salas verde ? Definitely not salsa verde im use to. And the hanger steak was a bit dry. But the mock tail was amazing

We got inside and out was pretty nice. Clean and spacious our server was ok, not too friendly but at the same time not rude. I think of we had better service and more personable it would've made the visit that much better. The appetizers were really good, we ordered several of them. The queso dip, jalapeño poppers, and poke tacos. No complaints there. However once we got our main course over half of the table got steaks and every single steak came out medium well to well done. Specially since most of us ordered it medium rare. I let our server know and he brought it back and got me a new one. The next one came out rare, I'm guessing to avoid over cooking it. I kept my mouth shut this time and just ate it. Better more rare than over cooked. The one plus is they have a hidden bar through a cabinet. If you ask they'll escort you back there. Unfortunately by the time we were done eating they were already closing up so we couldn't try any of the drinks. They have a separate menu than the restaurant. If you want to come for appetizers and drinks I recommend coming here. If you want steak this is not the place to go. Hence my 3 star rating. I expect better for the price.

Sea bass was very good and a nice portion however presentation could have been more updated

Is anyone outraged that they charge $6 for (usually free) chips and salsa?

Chips and Salsa??? Where's the salsa? Just two 1oz cups to serve 4 people?

We went…read morein at 5:00pm 7/11/26 with no reservation and were please to find seating in the bar right away, even though the place was packed. We watched her make & serve drinks with lighting speed, even serving food as well. This lady needs a raise! Second, the food was delicious, perhaps the best ribeye I have ever had in my 51 years. My wife and I shared a 16 oz spencer steak with baked potato, and chicken with ravioli and fries. They came with beans, side salad with the best ranch dressing ever! Of course, we could not come close to finishing all the food and had to ask for our included ice cream to go. Lucky, we had a room in Santa Maria with a big fridge and freezer. After our vodka soda and food coma wore off, we enjoyed our malted crunch ice cream in our room and finished our meal the next day. The smokey flavor of the steak and chicken was amazing. We will be going back very soon. Truth be told, I am getting hungry just writing this review.

Danny never came by for drink refills and I never received the glass of red wine I'd ordered with my steak. . That said, the giant $58 NY Steak was amazing! One of THE best I've ever had with great flavor and texture. The grilled artichoke appetizer was also delish with a great smoky flavor. . Unfortunately, the fried mushroom appetizer was just OK. They did not taste house made. And, the full-rack of pork spareribs for $47 were very chewy and dry. The ribs did not come with any sauce and it took ages to flag down our server to get some. We decided to simply take most of it home to re-cook :-( . After we'd finished eating, we sat around with 1/2 eaten plates (and a pile of uneaten ribs) for the better part of 30 more minutes with zero service or follow-up. And by that time (two hours later), it was not busy and we really needed to head home. Gosh, did he go on break or something? When Danny finally arrived, we had to then ask for boxes and the bill. . The mediocre food, plus the forgetful service definitely put a damper on our family gathering. For a nearly $300 tab, the service really should have been better.

WOW. I was in town visiting family today and stopped here for lunch. I grew up in Orcutt, so I've…read moreknown the Swiss for years, but today's meal reminded me exactly why it's such a local institution. The oak grilled open faced rib-eye sandwich was absolutely incredible. I'm not exaggerating when I say it had more flavor than Wolfgang Puck's CUT. The rib-eye was perfectly cooked to the medium temperature I requested, tender enough to bite through without a knife, and seasoned exactly the way Santa Maria style beef should be. So many places are too conservative with the seasoning these days, but they got it just right. Even the bread underneath the steak was perfect. It didn't even need salsa, but of course I tried it both ways. Honestly? I couldn't decide which I liked better because the sandwich was outstanding on its own. We also ordered the linguiça appetizer with garlic bread. The linguiça had that slight char from the grill that gives it so much flavor, and the mustard served alongside it was the perfect pairing. My mom ordered the prime rib sandwich with grilled onions and chose the 50/50 fries and grilled onions. The only minor criticism I have is that it wasn't quite a true 50/50 and could have used a few more grilled onions. Other than that, it was delicious. The pinquito beans have a little kick, so if you're sensitive to spice, keep that in mind. Personally, I wouldn't change a thing. The whole meal took me right back to growing up in the Santa Maria Valley cruising Broadway on Saturday while the entire town smelled like oak fired Santa Maria barbecue. We cook a lot at home, and we're pretty serious about our beef, so eating steak at restaurants is usually disappointing because very few places compare. That's why I was so impressed today. This wasn't just a good sandwich.. it was one of the best rib-eye sandwiches I've ever had. To whoever was running the grill today: outstanding job. You absolutely nailed it. I'll be thinking about that sandwich for a long time.

We each ordered a filet mignon with a side plate. I ordered the chicken noodle soup for starters. It was delicious. I was off to a good start. However, my companions all ordered salads with blue cheese dressing. They each reported the salad was wilted and the dressing was terrible. Then the main course came with our sides, a little pot of salsa and a little pot of beans. The filets were very tender, it not well seasoned. Baked potatoes were fine, but the mixed veggies were tasteless. There may have been some kind of bread, but I don't remember. Service was fine. But waitress really made out. She didn't mention that the tip was already included in the bill. She readily accepted a substantial tip in addition to what was already on the bill. Bad food. Rip off spot!
