Came here for lunch on a Sunday and I give Beso a 10/10!! It's a tapa spot. Everything I ordered was so good. I wish they could open a restaurant in Tampa lol. From the ambiance, server, and food, everything was phenomenal! Even though I loved all the dishes I ordered, the two that stood out to me were Carrillada de Ternera (braised beef cheek) which was so tender, and the Faln for dessert which was a mix of flan and creme brulee. SO GOOD! Can't wait to come back and try other dishes on the menu. A quick update. Went back with a close friend after a day of wandering about Sarasota..... farmers market, then craft fair, then bay front for a stroll. "Jesse" was fantastic and a top notch wait staff!! Way above average. We were pretty hungry. Got an artichoke tapas, octopus tapas, beef cheek tapas, and the roasted watermelon tapas each split 3 ways. Wonderful, tasty and exciting. (not part of the review.... the curved back chairs are horrible for lower back and extended sitting, the one booth I tried was also uncomfortable and too straight backed. We came here with a large group for dinner on a recent vacation and were very pleased. For larger groups (we had 11) they apparently have a pre-set menu to taste through a bunch of their more popular options. Everything was incredibly good. They brought out various waves of tapas and then ended with plenty of paella to share around the table. Sangria was spot on as well. Food- Great. Customer service- TERRIBLE Long story short - We dined at Beso 3 times - Friends gave us a gift card in March of 2025 knowing we liked this restaurant. We spent May thru October visiting family up north - Made a res at Beso in November - Used the gift card - they declined it saying it was used in July. - We were in Pennsylvania in July - They noted the card used for the full amount, but they apparently did not ask the user for the card nor did they keep the card? - We had our card. We had to pay for our meal - they researched it but still still wouldn't honor the gift card - the CS person offered us a free paella. Thats it! Perhaps a glitch with the gift card company or a hacked card number? Not sure. They should have honored it as gift cards are a service THEY offered and should take responsibility for. In my opinion, even with excellent food, a lack of integrity will keep me from ever returning. Was it worth losing a repeat customer over a $100 gift card? Apparently so. 10/10 Went here while visiting my mom and I was already planning my second trip before I left the restaurant. The staff was so friendly and explained the menu very well. To drink I had a regular red sangria and it was perfectly made, not too sweet but still refreshing. To eat I got the tomato & goat cheese which was deliciousss. I highly recommend asking for a second order of bread. The chicken dish was juicy and flavorful but my only gripe is that there seemed to be a lot of gristle. For dessert I got a chocolate brownie that was almost like flourless chocolate cake... YUM. If you're debating on visiting this place for dinner, do it! read more

First visit for some tapas and drinks. On a Monday evening so not too crowded. The expansive dining room might get loud at peak hours. A cool upscale and modern spot in downtown with seating on two levels. Place looks and feels great. We sat at the corner of the big U-shaped bar and service was outstanding. We sampled some unusual liquors and grabbed a nice bottle of Spanish wine. Solid wine list and expansive liquor selection. For food we sampled: Mixed olives and Spanish grilled cheese, then Polpo, Patatas Bravas and Queso de Cabra The grilled cheese was amazing and olives were delicious too (hard to pair wine & olives). The octopus and the queso (goat cheese) were tasty and the flavors on the potatoes were great but would like smaller & crispier pieces to better balance the potato & flavors. I had such a nice time at Beso. We had the watermelon salad, croquettes, lamb, octopus and the artichokes. The Yelpers are right and the artichokes were amazing. The sangria was good, and not too sweet. Service was good. In true tapas style, the dishes come out of the kitchen as they are ready. I like this, because you pace your meal if you don't want to order everything at once and everything is served at the proper temperature. It's super trendy and cute in here, but we were there early enough that my senior citizen parents felt comfortable. I'd return when I'm in Sarasota again. read more

An outstanding tapas restaurant. The drunk menu is extensive and full of Spanish wines. The menu is "small" plates but don't be fooled we were not starving and 3 dishes plus a desert filled both of us. The quality of the food and preparation is outstanding. We started with the jam croquettes they were authentically Spanish and delicious. A nice soft warm filling surrounded by a thick crispy batter. We then moved on to the pichaña steak. Perfectly cooked a rather large portion and covered in Botha green and red chimichurri. More a Brazilian that Spanish dish but wow !! A must order. We also ordered the almejas wich were large very fresh and cooked in a great garlic wine sauce. Great for dipping your bread. Lat thing we had was the flan for dessert again very large and easily shared by as many as 4. Very thick and smooth texture with a perfect amount of burnt sugar superb. Top 3 dishes Fried artichokes- fried perfectly Grilled steak- cooked medium rare Croquetas- I was pleasantly suprised on how good they were. The filling was good lightly fried on the outside. Charcuterie board- you can't go wrong. Great for sharing The paella was so so. I would skip and try other tapas instead. Large u-shaped bar as well as high tops. Went with 6 other ladies and we ordered 9 small plates for sharing, cocktails and when splitting the bill, it was surprisingly reasonable. I genuinely enjoyed all the apps, but the Picanha (grilled steak with red chimichurri and mojo verde) and the Sandía de Jerez (charred watermelon w/ manchego crema) were my favorites!! I love octopus and while theirs was deliciously flavorful, it was a bit too chewy for my taste - will try again next time! My cocktail of choice is an Old Fashioned, but the bartender suggested I try a Rojo Sabroso. While it was good, I don't think I'd order it again. My friends had some delicious espresso martinis though! With plenty of seating, a relaxed yet upscale vibe and reasonably priced, delicious food, highly recommend and will be back next time I'm in town! read more

New spot downtown for drinks and small plates has opened within the new Mark building on S Lemon. In the heart of downtown, expect to either valet or park in the city owned garage a few steps from Beso's door. There is no exterior sign, only on the windows outside so drive by slowly so you don't miss it. This spot has a great deal of potential and having only been open about a month, there is a full house on this Thursday night. Industrial feel with high open ceilings and exposed AC work, with small tables of four and two, plus a large bar area. Second floor loft is not open yet. Servers, all men dressed in black are professional, relaxed, and friendly. I tried the sangria classic and found it to be more of a smooth red wine with square cut pieces of apples and ice served in a rock glass. Ok, but not what I expected. We ordered the Charcuterie board with 4 choices for $24. The selection of options were good but we felt the portion of the jamón serrano and toasted bread given was not enough. The chorizo and cheeses, manchego and drunken goat were good and tasty. The croquettes that are described as jamón serrano, ham, and onion, and were actually a bechamel sauce that tasted like a mouthful of gooey cheese. Ok, but again not what expected or described in the menu. This seemed to be the trend, okay but not what expected. Details, like breadsticks or crostini with these croquettes or some of the other meat tapas would help and would have encouraged us to continue ordering more. There is only one stall women's bathroom and I observed a line a couple of times. Tables are cozy and can accommodate larger groups. In the end, the service was great but 2 drinks, 2 small plates cost $60+ tip, and left disappointed and, yes, still hungry. I'm hopeful for improvements as management receives feedback. Might try them again, knowing that dishes seek to have a twist and not what we expect. read more

Once the regular bartender was there it was night and day she was AWESOME, engaged with us, helped us with all our food choices and there were lots of plates ordered. I made a reservation for an important business meeting for 4. While the food was very good as it always has been in the past the service was extremely slow and the waitress was non responsive to our table for long stretches of time. We ordered around a dozen different tapas off of the menu along with drinks. We were there for almost three hours and paid the bill. Within a couple of hours two of my table were violently ill and had food poisoning the next day. Both of the parties ate the octopus. I called the restaurant to let them know and never heard back from them. My company uses this restaurant many times and this could be the last time. I was disappointed that no one called me back after I spoke to the manager. read more

Nice ambiance and the service was great. Couple of things though I would expect from an upscale eatery. First, a Spanish Tapas restaurant should treat their sangria with more reverence. Aside from some chopped apple, add a slice of orange you are in Florida for heavens sake, make it a treat for the eyes as well as the taste buds. The taste was good by the way but it needs to be dressed up a bit. The other thing is, if someone orders their steak medium rare, and you can see that it is well done, why would you serve it? if I pay $20 for a small peace of steak, make it perfect. The other dishes were well seasoned and tasty, the eggplant was probably the best dish of the ones we ordered. With a little work, this could be a 4 or 5. read more

LOVED THIS PLACE! It was a really nice trendy looking, yet comfortable place with a great looking bar. From start to finish, the service and food was amazing. We had a mix of tapas, all were great. My favorite was the pulpo (octopus). Outstanding. On a hot day, the sangria was very nice and refreshing. The waiter was great as well. Fantastic date night spot. We made a last minute reservation and got to sit upstairs at a very private table where we were able to enjoy our experience at Beso. The restaurant itself has a modern and romantic feel to it. The waitstaff and hostesses were all very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them. Our waiter was so helpful in spacing out our order per my request. The sangria-- we got a pitcher of their classic sangria and it was so good (9/10). The two of us split the pitcher and each got 3-4 drinks. The food-- my favorite was by far the carillada (12/10). It was probably one of my favorite things I've eaten in a while. So tender and so many different flavors with the sauce and potatoes. Highly recommend. The patatas bravas were also very good and were my second favorite (8/10). I definitely like my potatoes on the crispy side so they don't taste soggy, and these were the perfect balance of having the perfect amount of sauce while maintaining the crisp. We also got the gambas and they were good, but just couldn't compare to the other things we had eaten. Also a little bit different as to what I was expecting/had in mind (was thinking it would be packed with garlic flavor). The shrimp themselves were delicious, but didn't stand a chance against the beef in comparison. Lastly-- the tortilla española. A Spanish classic. I couldn't sleep on it. It was different from the tortilla española that I would eat when I lived in Spain, BUT it was still good flavor wise, texture wise, and the sauce on top was a nice touch that I wasn't expecting. Have never been what you would call a tapas fan so this is only my third visit to a tapas restaurant. After this experience I'm never questioning that again; definitely going back to Beso. We (the four of us) were lucky enough to grab an outdoor table on a perfect night and then let the food begin. I used to joke about tapas-style dining and ending a night with 42 plates and never remembering what we got but this was a different and great experience. The four of us began with a grilled octopus, chicken liver pate, roasted tomato and goat cheese, fried artichokes, and a calamari. Hard to pick a favorite between us but I'm casting a vote for the chicken liver. The presentation and flavor were outstanding. My partner who's not a liver far tried and went back for more. It was that good. The table shared a traditional Mariscos Paella and that was a wonderfully satisfying dinner for all. The server was kind enough endorse the flan as the best he's ever had and he wasn't lying. The texture was silky smooth so all four spoons dug in and devoured. Must try!!! read more

NEVER AGAIN...tried it last night and it was a big disappointment, after reading SOME of the good reviews, well...I should have read the BAD reviews!!! Terrible portions...I know, I know...I get it, it's Tapas...but there is a limit...Pollo al Ajillo ($12 - Chicken in Garlic) should be named "Garlic a-la Garlic"...5 SMALL dime-sized pieces of chicken and the rest, slices of RAW garlic! careful you don't mistake the garlic for a piece of chicken and actually chew on it! you'll regret it and so will your date! I guess there was a benefit in getting a tiny tiny serving. Carrillada de Ternera...($18) ONE piece of meat swimming in the sauce in the rest of the deep dish! Sandia de Jerez ($12) Three SMALL slices of watermelon with a couple of other LITTLE pieces of I don't know what. Spanish Grilled Cheese ($11) A grilled Texas Toast with one slice of cheese in it! Can you believe that?!?!?! Small glass of Stella beer ($6)...had to get two to wash down the tiny portions! An honest review of Beso: Food: The menu is extensive, with a good variety of tapas. Most importantly, the food is FANTASTIC. Honestly, we didn't have a dish we didn't like. We ordered: - Pincanha (10/10 - decadent) - Croquetas (8/10 - only b/c I don't love deep-fried food) - Gambas Ajillo (10/10 - delicious) - Potatoes Bravas (10/10 - the best I've ever had!) - Queso de Cabra (12/10 - I could eat this every day) Drinks: They have a variety of cocktails and wines. They don't offer draft beer but they have a decent assortment of bottled beer, including Estrella. The bartenders introduced us to a new Spanish wine, which was delightful, although I can't remember the name of it. Service: We sat at the bar. The bartenders, Yahir and Cynthia, were great. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Outstanding customer service and bartending skills! Beyond the bartenders, the managers and hostess were also fantastic. We went last night as two couples to this restaurant which I have been wanting to go to. We started out with the goat cheese appetizer, fried artichoke, and bottle of Spanish wine. Tempranillo. Three hits right out of the box.! All ingredients were fresh, and the wine was authentic and delicious. We moved on to the beef cheeks and paella, with also the clam dish. Beef shakes were tender and tasty! Paella was much better than anything we had in Spain (We were just there a few weeks ago). And the paella was really delicious and full of seafood and large prawns. Really an excellent dish. We finished with the cheesecake which was not to terrific. They labeled it " basque cheesecake" But it really wasn't. Basque cheesecake is much creamier and denser. But overall I give it great ratings. Andy was our server and he was really excellent. He spent 30 years in Spain and was quite knowledgeable about the food. The atmosphere is modern and trendy. Although the plates were Tapas, the portions, they were tasty but I would have like a bit more. We tried the Paella. It was very flavorful but a little too much Tomatoe flavor. Beso was a mixed bag. The service was excellent, the decor sort of that industrial chic which is so over done. The sangria was great, couple of the plates were very good. Second time here. Again a very nice experience. Sat at the bar. Walker was an outstanding bartender and a very personable young man. We enjoyed the toast with tomato, jamon, and manchego. Really nice. Had one other tapa which was outstanding...beef cheeks. My only criticism...and it is minor...wish they had some HH Pricing.
