I went to this salon based upon the "high" yelp ratings because my usual braid salon was not open....I first called the salon yesterday morning and spoke to Kim to see whether I could stop in to discuss my desired style and price. When I arrived (at 11am) I showed Kim a photo of the exact style that I desired. She said she could do it with no problem. I then stressed to her that if she agreed to do my hair that day, it was absolutely imperative that she be finished by 5pm as I had dinner reservations for my anniversary. She said it would not be a problem and we agreed that I would come back at 1pm. I returned at 12:40pm and Kim did not honor my appt. time as she did not even start my hair until around 2pm. Before she "started" I reviewed the photo of my desired style once again and she told me she could do it. I should have listened to my gut and just left at that point. When Kim had started my hair, I asked to check it to make sure that it was to my satisfaction as I needed to make sure I looked my best for my anniversary dinner. Immediately I noticed that the "braids" were extremely thin and spaced too far apart. I then explained to Kim that she needed to make them thicker so that the style would not look too sparse/spacey. She gave me the impression that she understood. The next few hours were filled with Kim having to take constant unannounced breaks and ramblings about how "African braiding salons were dirty"...I took offense to this as I am actually a professional woman of African decent and looking around Kim's "salon" all I saw was a place in need of a very good scrubbing, major renovations-basically, the ceiling had clear water damage, mold was falling down and some genius decided to patch it up with duct tape instead of actually repairing it. Next, there was old hair and random trash all over the place, a dusty display glass missing product, the styling chairs were falling apart-basically a roach heaven. I was not out by 5pm as you may have guessed. To make a long story short, I am very disappointed with the terrible job she did. So much so that my significant partner and I thought it best to cancel our reservation and I spent the rest of a very long evening removing this mess from my head. $150 down the drain. As a took out the braids I realized that Kim hadn't even parted or braided straight. It looked like a small child did my hair. I am annoyed with her lack of professionalism and work ethic and am completely insulted that she would try to pull this on me. I feel like I was SCAMMED right out of my money. It is a shame because I was really trying to support a black owned business. Side note: I had to actually INSIST that Kim use clean towels to dry my hair after boiling my ends. She actually had the nerve to think it was ok to use the same dirty, moldy towels on my hair that I had witnessed her using on previous clients. I am appalled because she actually looked surprised that I asked for fresh towels. Guess what? The "fresh" towels wreaked of urine/ mold. I imagine they have been around since the early 1980's. I have attached a photo of my desired style vs. what I actually got. I will let you see for yourself. Needless to say, I would NEVER recommend this business to anyone who works hard for their money and expects a reasonable salon experience. P.S. I found this place via tick tok. I called the number provided. Lady I spoke with told me to text a pic of what I wanted and my hair length. Over the next couple of days, we stayed in contact. She ensured me that she would have my black and grey mixed. We confirmed a time but she wouldn't confirm price. She seemed really professional and responsible so I went in good faith. She asked me to be there at 8a. I told her I was coming from BK and would be running a bit late, 8:15a. I was a bit annoyed but things happened. Once I got in the chair she promptly started. Checking with me to see if the braid length and width was ok. She even allowed me to take a 30 minute break when I had to check in with my boss. Once she started to bread the front I did ask her for a more natural method. We had a bit of a row between "knotless" and "natural." She agreed to braid the front of my hair in the knotless style. It was an issue because I have a TWA. In the end, I left shortly before 6pm. Baby, did text to ensure I got home ok. I was happy to get out of chair, starving and tired. The end result I thought was ok. When I got home to inspect. My front parts were extremely crooked. She did not redo all braids in knotless style as she said she did. It bothers me so much, I won't wear my hair in a bun ponytail. The customer service didn't match the technique enough for me. There were some excellent braiders in the salon. But I will search elsewhere next time I get my hair braided.

They work very quickly and have braiding hair in a plethora of colors (including grey and purple) Salon is no frills but it's quite clean. I got waist length box braids by Cisse in under 5 hours! Prices here are also amazing! I would however call and make an appointment especially on weekends.
