The OS on my Macbook Air was way outdated so I decided to try a Windows laptop. I saw a pretty good deal online for a Lenovo Yoga 7 14" with AMD Ryzen processor. I chose to pickup my purchase at the Bellevue store. About 2 months and and 1 or 2 day days of ownership, the laptop was EXTREMELY HOT to the touch. Hot enough to cause burns. I was using the original included charger. And the laptop was on a hard flat surface as recommended. After unplugging it, it was still very hot after over 5 hours. I put a box fan next to it and direct airflow over it. Once it was cool to the touch, it would boot up as far as the log-in screen and then shut off completely. It did that twice. I'm not plugging it in again. EVER. I felt like had I not unplugged it when I did, it woud've caught fire in minutes or seconds. I went to Best Buy and the guy in the computer area and explained what happened. He said basically, tough luck. Even though I'm a rewards member. Deal with Lenovo. He actually BLAMED ME for purchasing from the Best Buy website, because if I would have done it in person they would've sold me an extended service plan and warranty. What the hell? it's only two months old! and well within its warranty period. All I expected was some kind of store credit, not even 100%, whether Lenovo repaired it or not, so I could purchase an Apple product from them. Partial credit would've been fine to keep me as a customer. Sales guy said they couldn't do anything for me and I should've bought something with an Intel processor, because he was wearing a shirt with an Intel logo. If he was joking, it wasn't funny, because Best Buy just lost a customer with disposable income and an amazing credit score. I am never setting foot inside a Best Buy store again. Even if I have to take leak, I'll go somewhere else. I literally won't take a piss in a Best Buy store. read more

Way back when, the announcement of a new Best Buy store was exciting news. Good prices on all sorts of electronic things, great selection of hardcopy movies, and employees who were helpful. That was a _long_ time ago. This evening, I went there on a mission. I wanted a voice-over-IP device so I can have a land line again. Why? For when my bottom-of-a-hill cellular signal goes silent. Digression: Ziply had a series terrible customer service failures, so bad a switch to Comcast. It takes a lot to make Comcast look tempting. Anyway, Comcast's price for a land line was ridiculous, so I wanted to get a voice-over-IP device to avoid Comcast's fees. Back to Best Buy, I parked in their poorly laid out parking structure. (I should have used the upper level, like another reviewer suggests.) I went into the store. Quite a few employees were there. Only a couple of them looked busy. Most looked like they were watching the clock, awaiting the end of their shifts. I tracked down a pair of employees who didn't look busy. Neither had any idea what voice-over-IP was; one seemed confused about the idea of a land line. (I don't expect most people to know what voice-over-IP is. But I expect people in an electronics store to have an idea.) The less confused employee pointed at two guys who looked idle in the computer section, near a very large Microsoft logo. I approached the two guys. They likewise had no clue what voice-over-IP was, and had never heard of the brand name I mentioned (Ooma, which I knew about because they're an NPR sponsor). One was familiar with the idea of a land line, and walked me to a display near the opposite side of the store to a bunch of land line phones. Points for him for taking a break from clock-watching to guide me to the right shelf. Among a dozen or so cordless land line phones from an era before smartphones was a single Ooma box. The guy suddenly seemed to be interested in selling product instead of just waiting for the end of his shift. Alas, the device was not the one I had expected ($100 suggested retail, $80 on the Best Buy web site). It was a $140 model. I mentioned the less expensive model on the web site, and he excitedly told me about the 15% discount I could have by getting a Best Buy credit card. He also mentioned the 14 day return policy. I shopped at an in-person store because I didn't want to figure everything out myself, plus I'msick of Amazon. 14 days is a rush to figure out voice-over-IP myself. I declined. Maybe I can do more research. And if I do mail order, Newegg also isn't Amazon. But I still want my land line back. And I miss the days when a "Best Buy opening soon" sign was something people got excited about. read more

Their Geek squad service causes more damage than they fix things. We bought a Samsung dishwasher which started leaking a spoon or two of water every now and then. They took 4 months to resolve the problem as their vendor Tekniton could not be reached and when they scheduled appointments they failed to show up. Finally after 4 months Best Buy replaced the dishwasher instead of fixing it - what a waste for the environment! The leak caused flood damage below the dishwasher which they did not help us fix. We now have problems with the new dishwasher as the light doesn't turn on and the Geek Squad technician who came to fix the dishwasher caused large scratches on the floor right in front of the dishwasher. It's just hard to deal with a bad installation and damages caused by the Geek Squad tech along with delaying with normal day to day family life. I would recommend private repair companies around Bellevue than buying Beat Buy Total Tech program. We bought our previous dishwasher and all appliances from Lowes twelve years ago and didn't have a single problem with any of those. I was sold 2 Sonos speakers and a pair of wall mounts. Told that if I didn't need the wall mount I could return it. I lost a week to an injury (I was hospitalized) before I could set up the speakers. Didn't need the wall mounts. Tried to return the set - unopened. I went into the store 1 day after the exchange window, which I found out to my surprise was just 15 days! The store manager said no to a return - she didn't care if I was hospitalized "If I let you return it late, then I have to do it for everyone". Store credit? "No". The manager has no discretion? What nonsense. We just spent over $10,000 at Best Buy last summer on a media room. That's how they treat customers? I won't go back if I can find an alternative. read more

I purchased a phone from another Best Buy store and tried to return it to the Bellevue WA location (Their return policy is nationwide). The staff refused to process the return due to the IMEI on the receipt didn't match the phone, but didn't bother checking IMEI2 which INDEED matches the one on receipt. It's basic knowledge that phones can have two IMEIs. The lack of professionalism was astonishing. One staff member even suggested I buy a cheaper phone to save them restocking costs. Uh oh Best Buy. My latest visit had a few tumbles that have brought its review down. I came in to purchase a game. I saw that it was available in store on the website, so I was slightly prepared. It wasn't on the shelf, so I went over to customer service and ask the attendant to look it up. He claimed that it was "in stock, but if not on shelf, probably back in our warehouse". So confused I ask if it's available or not. He then said that he handles inventory and hadn't seen that game, so if they're not on the floor, they aren't for sale. Still confused by that, I go over to ask another associate who was very nice. I showed him the picture, he looks it up on his inventory device and says the same thing the previous guy said about it being in the "warehouse", but he says give me a few minutes and I'll go look. Sure enough a few minutes later he comes back. So shoutouts to this associate. Did the other guy just not want to be bothered to look? Now that I have it, I go for checkout with the intention of price matching it this because it is on sale cheaper at a few of the other stores, but I have a gift card for here at BBY. The associate helping me says "We price match for all stores except GameStop." (Which is the ad I had pulled up) Why?? What is so special about GameStop that you can't price match it?? He had no answer. So not being one to argue, I get out of line and pull up Target who has the same sale sure enough. Now it's no problem, except that I have to wait in line. So, I feel a lot of this could've been avoided the one associate who claimed it wasn't in stock and lack of preparedness for price matching I had to remove a star. read more

Avoid doing business with these people. I purchased a new Canon printer in May, 2025. At the same time, I told the salesman I wanted a set of replacement cartridges for the machine so I would never get caught without a cartridge. They sold me a set of 4 "replacement" toner cartridges. This week my first toner cartridge went dry and I went to replace it with the backup cartridge. But the cartridge was the wrong one. It was a different part number than is required by this printer. No problem. I'll just take it back and have them give me the correct ones since they supplied the wrong one. But Best Buy said, too bad, it's been more than 15 days, so the $400 you spent is gone. They said they'd be happy to sell me $500 worth of the correct cartridges. They admit they made the error, they sold me the wrong cartridges, and now they are hiding behind their "15 day" return policy and taking no responsibility. Needless to say I have spent my last dime at this ripoff operation. This is an extremely poor way to treat a long time customer who had spent thousands over the years with them. But fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Never going to cross their threshold again. read more

I like that you walk in and you get met with a greeter who is there to help you out right away. The store was kids if empty from shoppers but it might be cuz I went like 30 min after the opened up. There was enough workers to ask for help if you need further help as you walk deeper into the store. I loved that they have PS4 games so that made my life easier as it was a last min shopping for my nephew. They have good selections of games, games accessories, phone accessories, computers and everything you need for an office space or gaming room. Prices honestly are good. Definitely one of the worst experiences I've had as a consumer, I went to BestBuy Bellevue to buy a kindle or a tablet, not knowing which one I wanted. I'm not very tech savvy and was hoping the sales folks could help me. I was by the Kindle section and noticed a device for ~500 ( I think more likely 450), and then saw tablets for about a similar price point. I just checked my library app and it said I could read their books on Kindle or any tablet. I was a bit confused since the tablet is general purpose while the Kindle is very specific purpose, but they had the same price points. So I asked this question to the salesperson on the floor. He said it is "your preference". I said, can you please explain why I would spend the same amount on the kindle device vs a generic tablet,. He said different customers have different preferences, and I could select what I wanted based on my preference. I was a bit flabbergasted - I see one device superior to the other, but for the same price point and the sales person cannot explain why I should choose one of them. After I tried to get him to answer, he said "I'm not the kindle person:" and he called for the "manager". Thankfully, he did not call Security! I was already feeling a bit uncomfortable at this point, but any way, his manager's behavior was worse than his. She also could not explain the difference, and then told me "I've already told you 3 times that it is the customer's preference", And when I pressed her on what is an example of a preference that would make me choose one, she pointed to the sign and said "If you can read the sign above you will see it says it is from Amazon". Wow, at best rude and at worst racist (I don't pull the racist card much, and I've only had the best experience in USA, but this manager at the Bellevue Best Buy definitely had my spidey senses on racism on high alert given that she addressed me as a 5 year old). Anyway, she said she cannot answer my question and said "I'm going to walk away". I went home, investigated the differences (BTW, turned out to be the blue light from the display), ordered from Amazon, and am never going to go to Best Buy again. Do not purchase open box products! Even at the highest price point "excellent", that is supposed to be inspected, they sell broken products that don't work. It's a waste of your time and money to go down, pick it up, bring it home find out it doesn't work, and then have to return it. They will give a refund but they can't replace it because they don't have any more of the item in stock. No apology, no compensation. Was simply told open box can have "issues" which is the opposite of what their website says, that open box will be fully functioning. 2/3 of the ports not working is not fully functioning. read more

Tried to EXCHANGE for the correct size (same priced phone case). Oh my gosh. I couldn't exchange it because the "system needed to be updated" so I have to come back in the morning. Tried to get customer service on the line twice and really nothing I could do but wait. Ok that was just for a $16 phone case. Imagine I bought something super expensive and needed it then and there but couldn't exchange it. What a scam. Report report report. Don't recommend the pickup option. This place is a freaking joke their website barely works now a days and the staff are just there to collect a pay check. Even when the staff does reply they mostly want to push some extended warranty or they barely know what they have. Which obviously can't be true so I looked on line to find the phone number and called them where I was put on hold for look at the screen 15 minutes. These people are unbelievable. While I appreciate the awesome sales person I use past him this store suck. In the past year and a half I have purchased 1) LG washer and dryer set with pedestal was damaged upon installation 2) LG gas stove ( no issues) 3) Refrigerator French door 29"(?) and lg microwave to go over the previous purchased stove. They broke my chandelier took parts of the chandelier to see if they could find the parts. Upon calling the Techs they admitted they could not locate the parts 4) LG dishwasher tech ripped off front of the finish of my cabinets and did not say anything. The damage to my cabinets and my chandelier happened in Jan And Feb after weeks of trying spoke with a supervisor in April and addressed a couple of other issues and referred to an escalation person.... Nothing this week the replacement chandelier I bought was finally installed it is not as nice as the previous one but it cost nearly $600 to install it. Started all over again received an email for a escalation team member in Min. Cheyanne Olsen who also lied promised action and apologized for the long delay YOU LIED. Filed a claim in KDC and the Mgr of the Bellevue store can explain it to a Judge, as he is named along with Best Buy for violations of the consumer protections act. read more

I tried to return an unopened, new-in-box item with receipt, and the employees refused the return because it was past the return period when I brought the item in the day I received it. I had the item shipped to home and it took 3 weeks for the shipping, which was clearly shown by the tracking number. Not Best Buy's fault about the shipping, but to use the lengthy shipping time to deny a refund when I brought the item to the store for a return the day it arrived is appalling. It was a quiet day and clear the employees simply didn't want to have to process it. The employees were apathetic, and kept telling me there was no one in the store with the ability to process returns that were "overdue" even the customer service department. I have been to this Best Buy multiple times and have always been able to find help whenever I need it. I usually end up in the PC section and have been helped by a sales associate named Christopher with the curly hair who was very knowledgeable in the PC department when helping me understand the difference in keyboards and mice that I wanted to purchase. He also helped me with selecting the right internal storage drive for my PS5 and helped me compare a few different options.
