The store offers one of the worst shopping experiences, i walked through the store for about 15 minutes trying to find a game controller. The website showed they were in stock. We picked up a new unlocked phone. The staff was nice however, we had a new employee who was unsure about a number of steps. He got help from more senior staff. The pick up process still took 40 minutes. The good news is we didn't have to wait in line. It seems the directions given when you choose to trade in your old phone make things harder. You are asked to wipe your phone and factory reset it. However, they asked for our google account password which we didn't have with us. Fortunately, this part was skipped after hitting skip multiple times. Staff needed the "one" number which they finally got from settings. It would be better if information was provided so we could give "ime" number prior to wiping phone. Of course you can let store wipe your phone but we preferred to do that important step ourselves. To sum up, the instructions need more specificity for the process to work smoothly and take much less time. Finally a tip. Did you know you can trade in an eligible phone at any time and not just when you are buying a new phone? Good to know. I need to provide an update. We were told "just insert the SIM card and connection to our carrier would be easy and all would work". Not so! Are you surprised? It was actually very time consuming. It would have been better to say I don't know instead of trying to make it sound easy. Best Buy staff should take a note. The phone is working now. read more

There is no sense of urgency when it comes to pickup orders! I ordered my item on Dec 10th as the website said it will be available for pickup on Dec 15th. On Dec 15th I contacted the store around 4:45 p.m (they close @ 10 p.m) about my order & the phone magically hung up. I managed to get in contact with someone else & was told that my order just arrived off the FedEx truck & the earliest i would have my item is before they close on Dec 15th or the latest on Dec 16th as they have to scan in the shipment. I then got an email @ 6 p.m stating there was a delay with my order and if the item is unavailable by 12/29 they will cancel the order. On Dec 17th I reached out to Best Buy customer support via the X app & was told my order just arrived today. So did it arrive to the store on the 15th or the 17th??? Sounds like Best Buy is allowing us to purchase items while they are in stock & promising us a pickup date all while selling the physical product in store so by the time our pickup date arrives, they sold our item so we have to wait longer. Why not pick the items & sit them to the side as you get them?? Today is December 18th & I still don't have my item nor an email update!!!! This was supposed to be a Christmas gift for someone special to me & it doesn't look like I will get it in time smh. If i cancel the order I will have to wait up to 10 days for the funds to be refunded before I can use the money to shop elsewhere. Visited Best Buy yesterday to finally upgrade our TV, and Josh was incredibly helpful with our search! He asked questions to try to find a right TV that fit our needs. He showed us various options from different brands to different price points, demoed all the TVs we were interested in and even did the same for the sound bars! He didn't pressure us into buying anything, and was very patient with us as we weighed our options. We came home with both a TV and soundbar that are perfect and working well so far! I picked it up the same day of the email. I was greeted when I entered and directed to customer service. There was no line, so I was assisted immediately. We bought a 2-Pack Ring camera less than 3 weeks ago. After we installed it and followed all the directions on the Ring app, we found that one camera worked and the other did not. We also discovered that Best Buy only allows returns for two weeks which, since we were four days past that, the camera was no longer returnable!! This short return window applies to the whole store and is ridiculous for most of the products sold there. Simply a way to rip off customers! Their Geek Squad could not do it either so they wanted to send me to their other support team which would have cost me more money for their assistance. I had an open box item in store pick up from Nov.25th but no ready-to pick up email was sent to me. Around store closing time, an notification pops up says my order was picked up and returned without me physically in the store. Until that, it was fine and I expected a refund and everyone is happy. And I bought another one to be shipped the next day. However, 10 days later, no refund for the store pick up order! 6 calls to best buy, 1 hour drive to the store - they are telling me that this was flagged as an exchange in their system and not able to refund me for that reason. I am like WTF. store manager promised to look into it and give me an call. guess what. No follow up call of course... I moved to Fort Meade for school, and this was the closest best buy. I've been fortunate enough to have Brian as the associate to help me, this man really went up and above in helping me find the right monitor for gaming that I also use for video editing, I bought an Alienware QD OLED monitor, I couldn't decide between that or the Asus ROG Swift 32, he suggested the Asus but out of curiosity I went with the Alienware for the curved screen. He then went on to help me pick out a sound system to which I ended up buying a razor Leviathan V2. I loved the sound system, but I wasn't in love with the Alienware, the curved screen was kind of odd to me and I felt as if the color were not that vibrant for a monitor that was 1100 dollars. So, Brian said I could bring it back and switch it out for the Asus. I did, and the monitor is beautiful, sturdy and made out of good materials, whereas the Alienware was made of plastic materials, I definitely got more value for my money going with Asus that was suggested by Brian. He also went on to help me buy some Lan cables, a Lan switch, and an affordable tv to use as a second monitor, I definitely had a lot of needs as far as connectivity and mix and matching of different products goes and he went to look for answers to my question, that man is the G.O.A.T. side note I did get help by other employees there, they didn't have the burden of answering one of my tougher request but they were all nice and helpful. First, Best Buy deletes many negative reviews on it's Goolge site, to get a 4 star rating. on. Here on Yelp, where it is difficult to remove negative reviews, they have 2.5 star average. I get the robo-answer from hell that keeps trying to get my Best Buy credit card number before letting me pass. Yes, I called the store and not the credit number. After 5 minutes of this I get another robo-menu which I've tried before and know it doesn't give a human sales person, it gives a useless voice activated search system, in case you are not infuriated enough already. They also give a voice message which lies and says they are open until 9pm. So I have no idea what the truth is, or if this is actually a Fraud Dept. The recording says it is Card Services. Fraud Department and Card Services are NOT the same thing. My card has already been stopped. I don't need Card Services. I need them to take the fraud amount off my account, since they have already acknowledged it was fraud. BEST BUY IS A PIECE OF TRASH. The store is clean and orderly and actually would be a pleasant store if they didn't blair obnoxious music, like dance party loud, thinking that this somehow encourages grown men and women to stay and make a purchace. Instead it rather reeks of desperation. Also, there are often no sales/information people on the floor, just several security people huddled at the front door and the verizon phone people. In any case, this review is about their "special plans" that you purchase to supposedly get a "discoun" on products. Sort of a fake sale price scam. I saw an item I wanted to pick up as an impulse purchase and saw there was a decent sale price which actually would have closed the deal for me. When I asked how to get the "special plan price" no one could tell me and I didn't have all day to figure it out so i left (was on my lunch break from work). In any case, i googled the supposed discount plan they have and found it is pretty much a scam. You have to pay hundreds of dollars for it. I googled the product online and found out that Target carried it in-store regularly at the "special plan price" that was unobtainable at Best Buy without a major up- front investment/donation to the masters at Best Buy. My husband and I went to this location yesterday to look at laptops. The associate who helped us, Tricia, was very friendly and super knowledgeable. She answered all of our questions and offered different options for us. When the first laptop we wanted was not in stock she explained it could be shipped to us within two days. When we asked for a comparable laptop that was available in stock she was very quick to show us options. I especially appreciated the fact that she did not try to upsell a bunch of stuff that we did not need. In today's day and age, where you can order pretty much anything on Amazon and get it the next day, it's nice to be able to go into a store and ask questions and get options and still be able to walk out with an item in hand. I'd give zero stars if I could. I purchased a new laptop. Called before we went and spoke to someone at the Geek Squad and he told us he could transfer all the data and it should only take an hour, maybe a little more. We went to the store and the sales clerk that sold it told us for $179.99 for the Best Buy Total plan would cover all costs for the transfer. Well in person the story changed. In person we were told it would take 3 days. The person we spoke to in the on phone wouldn't look us in the eye and tried to backtrack on what he said. Went home and called The Geek Squad and the person told us to open the box and turn in the laptop because he had updated the license 3 DAYA AGO. we have to turn it on to diagnose the problem. We told him multiple times, there is no problem, it was only a data transfer Called again and spoke to Edwin (?) the nicest person I've ever spoken to. I explained the situation as he not only told apologized profusely, he told me the Best Buy Total plan only covered up to 100 gigs of data transfer. He also said they've told the sales force that multiple times but they don't listen. He gave me the 300 gig package for no cost, a savings of and additional $249.99! A warning to potential customers- you will be ignored. And if you try to return your purchase, completely unused unopened and perfect condition, the manager will be condescending even if you remain polite and professional. That was my experience at this location on more than one occasion. I'm a paying customer, and a very good one at that. I've spent thousands of dollars in purchases there recently. When I came back to make a $60 return, I couldn't believe the treatment I received. They told me to call the manufacturer, so I left and did. The manufacturer told me to return it to the vendor because the vendor buys that product at a huge discount. So really, when it came down to it, they didn't want it returned because it was such a huge profit margin. I can take my money elsewhere. My recommendation would be to go-to Lowes for appliances- they're right next door. And go to Microcenter for electronics- their selection is vastly better, and their customer service is terrific. read more

I've been a long time customer of Best Buy but I think my recent visit will more than likely be my last. Of my last 10 visits, I only had one sales associate that was helpful and that was to buy a power cord for my phone. I tried to buy a 85 inch flat screen TV which I waited weeks on for delivery. I was contacted and hour before that the delivery was canceled and I would have to reschedule another time. When I did contact Best Buy asking for another date -- they said they couldn't give me a date and more than likely it would be another 4 weeks. This was through the Elkridge store which I frequented regularly. I canceled the order and purchased the same TV through Amazon and got it in 3 days sans the setup which I scheduled through a local service that exact same day. Recently I went to this Best Buy to pickup some bookshelf speakers. I tried to ask the sales associate questions about what they had and he acted like he couldn't be bothered. I tried to ask another sales associate questions about bookshelf speakers and he said he was helping another customer and he'd get back to me. He never did. I ultimately figured it out on my own and made a less expensive purchase on what I intended. I've also tried to use the Geek Squad service as well but won't do that again either. Long story but Best Buy at this location didn't want to honor the extended coverage I purchased on a laptop. I could understand if the store was busy with some of the issues here but I often go during times when there's no many people shopping. Really a shame. I do like supporting the local retailers -- even the big box stores like this one. I think it's important in order to keep jobs in the community. But this isn't worth the aggravation or gas money. read more

Considering I had initially purchased the laptop at the Best Buy (Store 263) in Columbia Elkridge, Maryland, I naturally sought assistance there. The Geek Squad technician I consulted with suggested that purchasing a new laptop charger would resolve the issue. Trusting their expertise, I followed their advice and acquired a new charger, only to find that the problem persisted. In July, I returned to the store to explain my ongoing issue, but was informed that my two-year warranty had expired. It's essential to note that I had initially brought the laptop in while it was still under warranty. Despite this, the service agent indicated that the issue was related to the motherboard and insisted on replacing it without conducting a proper diagnosis. Reluctantly, I agreed to the motherboard replacement, for which I was charged approximately $249.95 plus local tax. I paid these charges and patiently waited for the repair. Originally, I was told it would take two weeks to complete the repair. However, after numerous follow-ups and phone calls, I finally received my laptop on August 19th. To my dismay, upon attempting to power it on, I discovered that it would not boot. I immediately returned to Best Buy and requested further assistance. After a half-hour wait, the Geek Squad supervisor named Ari informed me that my hard drive was failing to load and read. He was unable to resolve the issue and suggested that I take it to a Dell service center for repairs. He was rushing to refund my money and wanted to prove that nothing was wrong on their side.I was puzzled by this assessment, as my hard drive had been functioning perfectly before the repair, and my original complaint was solely related to charging issues. He insisted that the problem might be unrelated and even suggested that I consider replacing other laptop parts. This was perplexing, as Best Buy had initially identified the issue as a motherboard problem. In a shocking turn of events, he even threatened to discard my laptop if I did not take it immediately. I vehemently refused to accept a non-functioning laptop and argued that it was Best Buy's responsibility to ensure that all issues were resolved before returning it to me. The level of customer service was unprecedentedly poor. After a lengthy argument, he reluctantly admitted that something might have gone wrong while repairing the Laptop and said he would send it back for further inspection. However, he could not guarantee the outcome or data preservation. When I inquired about speaking with his manager, I was informed that the manager, Dillen Lee, was unavailable and that he would contact me on the next business day.When I finally spoke with Mr. Lee, his attitude mirrored that of his subordinate. After another heated discussion, he promised to contact me on the next business day. After two days, I received an email from Dillen Lee, asking the Bitlocker key, which I was unable to locate, as I had not anticipated that Best Buy would tamper with my hard drive. Thus, the only option provided was to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows.I found myself frustrated and distressed by this situation, which appeared to be a direct result of the mishandling of my laptop by Best Buy's Geek Squad technical team. After a week, I received an email stating that my laptop was ready for pickup, but the battery issue had not been addressed. After two months of patience and frustration, I find myself back where I started, with the added loss of data, time, and money.I am deeply concerned about accountability for the data loss and time wasted during this process.Best Buy should strive to learn from retailers like Costco and others who prioritize their customers and provide efficient service. I hope that no other customers have to endure such a frustrating ordeal with Best Buy. read more

With ropes and everything the male cashier said it was 2 lines . The customer begin to mock me even though I was following directions . The female cashier helping me told him to always take the next in line but by that time damage was done . It was rude and uncivil . What a way to kick of 2021 . I never write reviews especially negative ones but you cannot treat ppl or customers this way . I wish I I hadn't even bought my Sony speaker or Apple charger .
