This Review is for Geek Squad in Best Buy..I don't even know where to start but i will say upfront, the geek squad employees are the most INCOMPETENT individuals i have ever come across in customer service. If you have a computer that needs repair, take it anywhere else but here. I brought in my mac book pro to have the screen repaired. (stupid of me). They first sent my computer to be fixed to a place that doesn't fix mac computers. Upon geek squad receiving my computer back it took them weeks to let me know.The only reason i found out was because it was taking a long time so i checked in with them. They told me my computer was there and they sent it to the wrong place. I asked why didn't they tell me this? To only find out they were trying to e mail my phone number?!?! Not even a courtesy call. Whatever idiot got my information put my e mail and phone number in the wrong boxes....... Ok fine, so why don't they send it to the correct people to be fixed? Cant do that! I have to make an appointment and come back so they can send it to the right place to be fixed. I make an appointment and come in days later. Ok, Computer is on its way to the right place this time. During this time I get multiple spam and scam calls about my computer from random phone numbers. Some even from Japan...Apparently they share your information with 3rd parties. Long story short (hahah) I finally get the computer after about a month or so. (total time of this entire ordeal was just short of about 3 months). Super happy to pick up my computer. Invoice says they fixed the screen and top case assembly with battery?? hmmm. Whatever, glad to have it back $1395 later. Get on the computer only to find that the battery they put in does not work. Only when plugged into power otherwise it just shuts off. There was nothing wrong with the battery in the first place. They just tried to up-sell me and basically rip me off for an additional $700. Wow, I pretty much cant believe it at this point. I still give them a chance though. I take the computer back to them again.......thinking ok well they will fix this....i was wrong again. They tell me now that they are unable to fix the computer. WTF??? I let them know that the battery was fine and they didn't need to up-sell me on that. Yes i was rude to them and told them what i thought..crazy right? They refunded me $700 the amount for the battery they replaced that didn't need fixing...... Took it to The Apple Store. It was complete opposite. They were helpful and fixed the problem right away.Even had it shipped straight back to my house. The battery was replaced wrong they said. Bad connections amongst other things apparently. Apple fixed it for less than Geek Squad charged me to do a horrible job. learning lesson for me. I will never go to Geek Squad ever again. The "techs" here are not very professional or knowledgeable. Often times I forget why I don't go to big box stores like this and when I do, I am reminded that they are definitely there to make money at all costs. The individuals who greeted me said they can price match anything from any store. But they didn't know to research or price match themselves. I spent a good 15 min teaching one of there sales people who I found a better price on the manufacturers website. Despite this, there were stipulations that weren't mentioned for there "price match" criteria. It can be from Amazon but!!! Not from a third party no matter how reputable they are. It also can be from the manufacturer itself... However!!! It must be in stock. It was like they were looking for reasons not to meet other people's price. Skip the face to face subjective interaction and stick to buying online or dare I say costco. At least there it's objective and no one is trying to tell you what's better based how much commission they get and there limited experience. read more

beware if you buy appliances. they would t hook up our washer and said valves needed replacing. Fair enough. Had to call and plumber and said they would redeliver next day. BUT, the online record said no delivery scheduled. Waited on hold 50 minutes. Finally got told they don't have record of new delivery date and have to wait 4 more days. Delivery driver and manager they called on phone from my home said if I have a plumber install it voids warranty. When I called (after 50 minute hold) was told that's not true. Paying a plumber to install the washing machine. At least I had the sense to tell the Best Buy folks to leave the new washer at my house so the plumber can deal with it. I went back to Best Buy to try and get a straight answer and have now wasted half my Saturday dealing with this nonsense. Another harsh reminder I should have bought from a local and reputable company. read more

Shopping for a new washing machine isn't for sissies. There are so many from which to choose. First you have to do the research and read the reviews online. Getting an energy efficient, low water use machine is a must. Best to set a price cap, too, so that you don't go too wild. I mean, who REALLY needs a "Waterproof" setting? Will I ever use the "Download" setting? Next you go to the stores and see what appeals to you. Be sure and figure out if you can reach to the bottom of the drum (if you're like me and prefer a toploader and you're not a tall person). Find out when the delivery time is. The machines may be on back order. Are you okay with waiting for two weeks to do laundry in your own home? Check the measurements on the machine so that you're sure it will fit in the space allotted. Don't forget to ask about rebates: SoCalGas and City of Santa Barbara. And-----If you're lucky, like me, you'll find the perfect salesperson. One of THE NICEST sales guys EVER; one who is knowledgeable and is happy to share what he knows. You need to hear what the top selling machines are, which ones last the longest. You want a quiet machine, right? Don't forget to ask about that. All that online research may have helped somewhat, but seeing the machines in 3-D and talking with the sales rep is essential. I ended up at Best Buy and found Taylor Rowson-Moir. It was like finding a pearl in an oyster for me. Customer Service with a smile. So young and fresh-faced. My first thought was, "What will he know?" How wrong I was. We looked at several machines, I got the low-down on the problem machines and had a good look at the high-end front loaders. (I admit to having a prejudice against front loaders. Read too many complaints about the mold and smell.) Taylor told me the machine I had in mind, the one I'd selected during my online research, was a good choice. He answered every question I put to him. He said also I should go over to Pacific Sales and have a look there, just to see the larger selection. Did you know Best Buy and Pacific Sales are affiliated? The next day, I did go to Pacific Sales. There I met several more SUPER NICE salesmen. What a terrific crew. I told them about Taylor and asked how I could contact "Corporate" to give him a five-star review. They told me Yelp was my best bet---so here I am. Alfredo Lopez, I thank you for all your help. You're a class act. You made everything enjoyable and painless. Alfredo at Pacific Sales got me all squared away and my new washing machine will be delivered this week. We have been trying over a week to make a claim and we're receiving nothing but a run around. I gone as far as writing the CEO of the corporation to resolve the issue. I visit many Best Buys due to my job, and I don't typically review them -- however, this one was so friendly and the store was so "cute" that I had to review. I liked how it wasn't a typical "box" like they are at every other location in the nation practically. This storefront actually "blends" into their surroundings. Well, not just this BBY but every other retailer in this complex area doesn't have any flashy signs. It was nice... actually pretty soothing on the eyes. I tried to return an iPad case and was quickly informed of the store's 30 day return policy, even with the receipt. The manager was completely unhelpful and was borderline condescending towards me because I did not know their return policy. I really want to give them a good score but my experiences have all been lacking. For example, the last time I was there I brought up an item to the checkout and it rang up at a higher price than was stated on the shelf. He rang me up. I asked him to check the price before he completed my transaction and he said it didn't matter. After checking the shelf, he realized that I was correct and the advertised was the only one stated (it was a Black Friday tag they had forgotten to remove.) Then came the problem. The supervisor said the checker can not give me the difference since he had completed the transaction. I was forced to go to the long customer service line. Once there, only one woman was at the register and at least eight of us in line. She was also going to and from the back. It took over 20 minutes to get my 15 dollars back simply because my previous transaction had been completed. This ineptitude is all over the store read more

I had a complicated phone issue & called beforehand to ask if they could help me before I made the trip, the gentleman I spoke to, Thurston, said they could & to come in. I went after work & when I arrived, Thurston remembered my call & called over a young lady by the name of Paola to assist me, she immediately got to working on my problem & did her best to try to get us in & out in a timely fashion. She was so helpful & patient. She also was very knowledgeable about the Verizon plans & broke down each plan & cost, which by switching plans, in turn, saved my husband & I some money. We left very satisfied & very happy that I was able to get my new iPhone 6 for a lot less than anticipated! Thanks Best Buy, Thurston & Paola! I'm from Goleta, CA. I recently used Geek Squad at Best Buy, Goleta. I had an issue with my new laptop, which has an internal stripped screw (which I stripped), therefore I cannot but my second m.2 ssd, however I'm assigned to Agent Kolya in Geek Squad, and they removed the stripped screw and install the new ssd in only 3-4 hours. It was an amazing service there! I brought my computer in for a tune up. When I tried to find out about the status of the work order, they could not find the order. I eventually found the work order and discovered it was for someone else. I couldn't get a human back on the phone and had to drive 20 minutes to the store. They finally found it but the work hadn't been completed, although I had been told it would be ready that day. They are inefficient and waste your time. I will never come back here! read more

I've been shopping at various Best Buy stores across California for some years now. I now live near the Goleta location and frequent it often for my electronics and household gadgets. I recently purchased an item using a gift-card that I had received as a Christmas gift, and put the remaining balance on a credit card. The sales associate tossed the gift card as there was no remaining balance, and the transaction was complete. After debating whether I would be happy with the item in the long-term, I decided to return it the next day. When the refund was issued, by default it was refunded to the original payment methods- my credit card and a gift-card that was no longer in my possession. It didn't even dawn on me at the time of the return what had just occurred. After following-up in the store, the managers on duty at the time assured me that they would take care of it and see to it that some form of refund or store credit would be re-issued. Over the course of two to three weeks, I was in contact with a manager by the name of Andrew who was able to work with the corporate accounting department to audit the credit-card transaction. While it was no easy task to get in contact by phone, each time I was promised a follow-up phone call, Andrew was on point. After we thought the issue was squared away, there was a minor snag- the credit card company that issued the gift-card had changed their phone number. Attempting to contact Andrew to see if there were any alternative phone numbers I could reach out to, I got in contact with another manager, Luke. After explaining the situation to Luke, he was determined to get it resolved. Using the information Andrew was able to gather through the audit, Luke was able to work some magic on their computer system and refund the gift-card balance to a Best Buy gift-card. It took some time, and a couple weeks of back and forth, but I must commend these guys on their excellent follow-up and customer service. Glad I didn't have to forfeit more money to a credit card company, and the wife and I decided to put that gift card towards a new Roomba for our apartment. I love the idea of supporting local businesses, even if it is a big box store. But after spending an hour and a half trying to get a SIMPLE "non contract" phone for my mother in-law, I realized that this store is completely incompetent. The lady in the phone sales, while friendly, was not able to setup a phone that she said would be the best fit for my needs. She spent 45 minutes trying to get it to connect/activate before giving up and then wanting to try another of the same type. I told her that if the phone is having a hard time activating, then I am not too confident in the service provider. I asked about another phone and she said that one I pointed out would be better anyways... wtf? She proceeded to ring me up and because they didn't have the correct "prepaid card", she sold me a different one and said to call the company and have it switched over to the one I wanted. I called Tracphone and they had no idea what she was talking about. I spoke with (3) different people and all of them said that what she was suggesting would not work and just didn't make sense. I then went back to Bestbuy and they refused to let me return the prepaid card (that was never even activated or even given to me at the point of sale). After 15 minutes of trying to explain what happened, they just returned the card to get me to leave. This store adds NO VALUE compared to buying something online. Last time I go there. I have been on hold and disconnected so many times. it is ridiculous! You can't speak to a human and when you do, that person can't help you and you need to be transferred and hold again. I recently purchased some Sony headphones. After using them for a little while, the tip of the Jack broke off and it got stuck in my brand new iPhone. After trying to go talk to them about an exchange, they repeatedly pushed me away. Having worked retail in the past, I was aware of what they can And can't do. After asking to talk to the manager, they simply replied "why, what are you gonna ask him". Then they ignored me and walked away. Their customer service is absolutely trash. I decided to ask another employee so I told him my situation and he replied: "I don't care what your old job did(Calvin Klein), we don't do that here. That's not us". I've noticed that items at Best Buy rarely have price tags but most of the featured sale items are displayed with the price displayed on tags. Unfortunately store personnel/management are NOT competent enough to put the correct product on the shelf above the price. You only find out when you bring your items to the register. I have visited the Goleta store periodically since I've moved to the area (probably 5-7 times now) and EACH time - 1 or more of the items I went to purchase were a different price than what was posted. This review pertains to the employees and management. At this store, one can pay for their products at random kiosks rather then at a checkout line. The lack of communication from employees to security to management, it is evident with the modern world evolving to paperless, emailed recites had not harmonized with this store. When I used a kiosk to buy phone accessories, security stopped me and asked for my receipt. I choose to receive an emailed receipt, rather paper, but my phone was dead, so I had nothing to show the guard. The female manager came out and pulled me aside, where I logged onto one of their showroom computers to prove I was not a thief. The manager then continued to explain to me how I should be more polite to security. How can one be polite after being embarrassingly stopped, accused of theft, and humiliated as management appeared? Past experience has been very good ( we recently bought a dishwasher) but trying to get information on a recent order has been a nightmare. Online, I tracked my purchase and I found that my item had been shipped, but damaged in transit. That was 6 days ago and I have no idea where my purchase is now. I am now waiting on hold on the phone to talk with a real person. It's been over 20 minutes and this was after trying to reach a real sales person by pushing every possible digit on my phone. I have all the information from the website, but no one to talk to....What's up! I have finally gotten a live person, who is working on the situation (he also found this to be troubling) He suggested I cancel the order and reorder the item, but there is nowhere on the site to do that. I am now continuing to wait, as the employee is working for me to remedy the situation......It has now been another 25 minutes. It looks like they perhaps expected me to deal with UPS but I am unable to do that as the product was not delivered to me...AND I do not wish to deal with this issue, as it is Best Buy's customer service who should be handling this for me......Another 30 minutes have passed and I am wondering if my 2 stars should now be 1..... read more
