We were at the BB to check out some Legos, but I also took a sneak peak in other areas. The store is clean. Associates are friendly, saw many of them helping customers. Apple, Microsoft, Samsung areas look fantastic with many different products on demo. TV and Theater section is also big with lots of TV of different brand are on display. I saw many different TVs are on sale for the beginning of NFL season. Also was impressed with huge Dyson corner, home security section, speaker and headphones section. We've been here a few times, and it's our go-to place for comparison shopping on electronics. They offer a better choice than Costco, and a larger selection of electronics than Chapters. Sometimes they have the best deals, and sometimes it's just.... meh. The clerk was helpful and cheerful, but really couldn't help us much. Best Buy has a few readers on display, but not what we were looking for. I can say that their prices on Apple products were pretty much the same as what we saw at the Apple store this week - you can get an Apple tablet the size of a reader for about $330, so I wouldn't hesitate to consider an option here and it might just beat having to go to Bayshore (where I hate the parking!) What I found odd about our visit was the lack of clientelle! It was dead quiet in there, and we had the place almost to ourselves! So the staff was attentive. No problem there! We are looking at alternatives for potentially replacing a Kobo Arc. Too bad, too, because that Arc got a LOT of use! It's the best reader we have ever seen (we really lucked in with it), but I think in the long run readers are getting hard competition from tablets, which you can read on but you can also do other stuff. And therein lies the problem: this Kobo was a pioneer among readers in that you could download other apps, like Kindle, email and Google - even chat through Google hangouts while in Wifi! Tres cool. The newer Kobos stick to being readers and have less options. So, we have been searching around to compare, and Kobo does not even make the Arc any more! That is SOoooo too bad! But our experience with this one is disappointing in a way, because it's only just over 2 years old and it just crapped out - it died. Unfortunately, Kobo help (live people) were not a huge support, suggesting a couple of things to try (to no avail), or a discount on replacement! So we are looking for a work around. We did try dropping it off at a repair shop. The technician tried plugging it in and it seems to be working now. Maybe our charging plug has bit the biscuit? In any event, I hope it will revive. It would be nice to get a couple more years of use out of it before purchasing a tablet. Yes - a tablet! That would be the alternative, because once you have all these gadgets, you are hooked! read more

I was interested in buying a printer yesterday and was helped by Ahmed who was an assistant sales manager. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. I bought a printer and when I got home, I tried to set it up and had great difficulty. We are seniors and are not computer literate. I called the store and got Ahmed who spent 45 minutes walking me through the steps. This was far above and beyond the call of duty. His help was greatly appreciated!! Thank you. Dwight R. read more

There's always times that, as much as you tell yourself that you don't want to, you need to head into a big-box store. Be it price, selection, what-have-you, you have to go and you don't feel particularly nice about it. If you have to go, at least the Best Buy will make you feel a little bit cleaner about the experience. The one in Kanata has staff that help with that as well. I tend to hit this place if I'm in the neighbourhood. It being in one of the only Kanata malls in the area, it's an okay place to kill time in the afternoon, looking at DVDs of shows and movies that you may want to add to the collection. In times when I've needed to find something in particular, the staff were decently knowledgeable about the stuff they housed. The computer and TV sections are pretty well stocked and similar to most other Best Buys that are out there. I guess it boils down to the context by which you go into these places. I tend to go in relaxed without really needing anything and the staff seem to fit with that. They're also not on commission, so you don't need to shoo them away with a "Just looking" delivered in such a way to convey that they probably won't be making any cash off of you. read more

It's been a long time we haven't done shopping at Best Buy due to Covid restrictions. Last weekend we came to the store to look for a small microwave for our elderly 94-yr old mother, we were wandering around to look for the section, we were greeted right away by staff offering help to show us the way. We were looking through the different models ourselves and were quickly helped by a staff named FAIZ. We were very impressed by FAIZ's sincere and enthusiastic help. He's very knowledgeable, the most impressive thing is after hearing our requirements, FAIZ introduced us various models that are most suitable for elderly people. He's really in together with us trying to help us understanding the features to facilitate us making decision. At the end, we haven't found the specific model we are really looking for, but we are so impressive with FAIZ's service (thoughtfulness and sincerity in helping customers) that prompted us to make an effort to write this review. OK so not sure what's going on but it seems there's now an issue I've personally experienced, that is finding someone to help you within a section. Where this isn't obviously an issue is in the television and tablets section where it seems they congregate. There have now been a few occasions where I've been left standing around looking for someone to assist me. So much so recently that I've felt obliged to update my review. Not sure if anything has changed with regards to management but I've found that it's happening more so now then before. I know in wrote about the rewards and whether that may sway you to buy here versus Futureshop-flyer but in reality I've realized that having been a member for years now I've really heart gotten anything out of the rewards points, and that's from having bought a few large ticket items. This location needs to improve on its resource deployment that or get the staff from congregating in certain sections and actually be available to an obvious customer with their head on a pivot trying to catch the eye of a sales representative. read more

Best Buy Kanata has certainly upped its game. The staff are helpful and the store goes out of its way to make a sale. I like that. And, the price match policy is a real draw. Hopefully, the store will remain at this level or even better in terms of customer focus. It's definitely an improvement over the past. read more

I had lost my dell laptop charger and was looking for a replacement. I know a little about computer so I brought my laptop in. When entering the store the lady asked if I could be helped. I told her I was looking for a replacement charger and she told me where to go and said she'd send someone to help. I headed back to the computers and waited around for 10 mins for an associate to come but no one showed. I finally gave up and when to a different section to find and associate. He then followed me back to the chargers and told me there were two kinds and I would have to know if my laptop was a 65 or 90 watt. I had no clue I am not a computer person. He then told me we couldn't help cause he didn't know and I'd have to wait for someone from the computer section to help me. I waited another 10 mins and no one showed so I just grabbed one and left. Only once I got home and ask my father if it was correct I found out it was the wrong one. I will now have to go back and return the cord. I am very disappointed in the lack of care and customer service and this location. I suggest trying a different electronic store or a different Best Buy location. read more
