On October 6th I scheduled an appointment at Best Buy Geek Squad for my Iphone port not taking a charge. I still had my warranty until November 4, 2025. The girl behind the counter said that I had damaged my charging port and could see a pin missing on my phone so she said it was not covered and it was going to be very expensive to fix. She noted that if I had Applecare it would only be $49.00 to repair. So I took my phone to the phone shop and the owner said that my phone look like new and she didn't see any pins or damage to my port. She said that I was still under warranty and to make them fix it. I didn't trust Geek Squad so I went to Alpha Computers in Richland and they fixed it free of charge. I'll never trust Best Buy Geek Squad. read more

Scheduled and appointment for a phone battery replacement which the web site indicates will take approx. 20 minutes. I arrive early to drop off my phone, that part is my fault. After standing in line for ten minutes a very slow and very sour employee asks if any of us have appointments. I and the gentlemen in front of me both do but he chooses to help a person behind us without an appointment. Eventually another employee gets to me and seems extremely annoyed at having to help customers. She tells me that 'we are busy and it will probably be 24 hours'. Geek Squad Review- Long long long story short... I cracked my phone screen this week and after dealing with a terrible representative geek squad in the morning, I came in in the evening and was greeted by Gustavo. He went above and beyond to make sure they were able to get my screen fixed in a reasonable time. I was able to pick up my phone same day with absolutely no issues. I would literally ONLY go to Gustavo if I ever experience issues again. He deserves a raise X5! This is the second time I've went to this particular Best Buy and receive five star service from one employee by the name of Austin. This man deserves a raise because the first time I came in to disestablishment no other sales representative approach me try to assist me, but Austin did and help me find the best computer for school because of his help in the selection of my computer I definitely came back when I needed help with a new purchase. I called Best Buy's Geek Squad because my cell phone battery would not hold a charge. The person assisting me troubleshooted as to what could be the problem. He was generous with his time. He determined that I needed a new battery. It was easy to make an appointment because there were only certain time I could come in. The service was excellent. I didn't have to wait in a line and was politely greeted. There were two geek squad members that were making sure they had the correct diagnosis on what needed to happen. I was told that it may take up to 24 hours to complete. I requested they put a rush on it. I had my phone in three hours. Update from Jan 2023 post. Geek Squad had said they need three parts to fix my laptop they never did fix. I was getting ready to buy a new laptop from anyone else when a co-worker suggested Cline Computers in Richland. Best deal for what I wanted was $1500 from Costco on sale. To emphasize - had I listed to Geek Squad, it would've cost me a minimum of $1500 and the time it takes to break in a new computer (not insignificant). Turns out I only needed a battery and that was easy enough to get since the laptop is actually just 1.5yrs old. I don't know how they stay in business but they certainly will not get mine ever again. read more

I just moved to this area. But there are certain people at this store and in the geek squad that have gone above and beyond. First: OSO - he helped me with my laptop, my washers and dryers, and fridge. Since the home was still being built he set up the delivery. He also made notes that the geek squad would be back out for instillation. Those installers came and went above and beyond. Loved them! They really assisted in making sure all was working. I have also, now gone back to get a 75 inch and 70 inch tv. Mounts. The gentleman, Karnveer, that assisted was amazing! He listened to what it was I needed, and made sure to set up the items for delivery and even the install date. Today, geek squad came and delivered most items. They noticed a part was missing and went back to the store to bring it back. They happened to be the same team that came to the house before, and were wonderful! The 29th they will be out to install both TVs. I can't wait, as the teams they have sent have gone above and beyond. I know I have seen some bad reviews. I returned a product after the two-week full refund period and was given a gift card; so far, so good. Then my wallet was stolen, and I went to the store to redeem my credit. They printed the receipt showing I still had $157.62 left on the card but said I would have to call Best Buy to have them issue me a new gift card. This is where the hell begins. Talked to 4 different people. Calls dropped after spending 15 minutes with each representative and got nowhere. Before that, I had previously experienced chatbot hell. They have the dumbest chatbot system I've ever seen in a tech company. Finally, got someone who tried to help. The person who stole my wallet redeemed my credit, but they said no worries, just give us the case number from the police report, which I did, and they said it was invalid. Checked back with the police and they confirmed the number was correct. Now what? Big promises, but absolute crap for service. read more

I've been on hold over an hr multiple times w call backs set up. I also had people pick up then put me back in hold instantly so that way I've had to start they wait time all over again. So's here's how dis worked for me. I was behind the eight ball wit my tv. Pally of mine says go to Best Buy and talk to the tv mugs, they got it covered. I does that see. This palooka salesman in electronics, Chris bumps gums with me, he says he knows all the shit about LG televisions and the one I'm look'in at is the heat. It's gonna do all kinds of stuff, he knows all this cause he's the "LG man" for the store and so on. This particular TV is an LG 43UK6300 I think. Close anyway. I get's it to my crib along with the brandy new LG 4k blu ray player, cables and the like. This TV is worse than one I'm replacing. The screen is so dark even after adjusting it I can't see the picture, mostly shadows. It's pitiful. It's a paper weight. I gets on the horn to the store ask'in how to make this thing work. The dude on the phone says put the LG tv in the box and bring it back here, it's an entry level 4k tv and you shouldn't expect much from it. He say's you'll have to spend more money for a good 4k UHD tv . That wasn't what ol' flimflam Chris told me on Sunday! It's a long drive over to Kennewick WA. The long drive takes gas for the ol' boiler and time. But I ain't keep'in junk in the house or being a patsy so off we goes. I'm think'in maybe this is a clip joint but Best buy gives us a refund no problemo. We only had this junk 3 days. I'm think'in we'll go somewhere else and find an honest sales person. I met up with Tony who asks if he can help with anything. I tells him my sad tale full of woe. Tony shows us some Sony tv's. I always like Sony. He tells us he deals with "Magnolia" sales mostly which means "high end" electronics in the Best Buy store. I ask him if Chris is around cause I'd like to have a little chat with him. He tells me Chris isn't there. Tony goes on to say Chris is the LG guy. The LG tv he sold me isn't a good product. It's entry level and isn't a competent tv. It doesn't really display 4k or High Dynamic Range all the time. It's "capable" sometimes. Tony shows us a Sony that true to the mug on the phone's words is more expensive. Tony and a pally of his seem to know a lot about the technical aspects of why the Sony is better. I only know it looks better and it's bright enough I can see the picture on it. They say it's like 10 times the tv the LG is. We buys it and takes it home along with a new Sony blu ray 4k player which is also more expensive than the LG. The Sony tv works great. I can see the picture. I can see the difference between 4k and non 4k which was all the same on the LG tv. If I was rating Tony and the Sony equipment I'd give the store rating at least 4 stars. Having to include ol' Chris and the crap LG equipment, waste of time drive, gas etc. comes out to a 2. And that's being gracious. I leaned this: (1) There is a huge difference in 4k UHD tv's, what they can really do and what their picture looks like. In store displays will not look the same at home. (2) If it says LG on it don't buy it. (3) If a salesman named Chris wants to help you in electronics take a pass. (4) Ask for Tony in electronics, he steered me in the right direction. Shop around for the best deal but the best deal isn't always gonna be cheap. read more

AVOID Best Buy's CAR AUDIO installation service if possible!!! Backup camera went out after 4 years. Turned out the installer ran the wire out into the weather and pinched the wire near the rubber conduit in my hatch. He did this to save installation time and avoid having to pull the wire through the weather tube. After opening and closing the hatch for several years the wire failed and the camera blacked out. After the camera blacked out the Axxess digital signal processor began to cycle (auto-detect) and eventually reset to factory. This caused my radio to lose ACC power altogether. I had heard Best Buy honored their installs 100%, so I called to see what they would do. Car bay manager was professional and very nice. But unfortunately I had to wait almost two months to get in. I dropped off my van for the free repair and discovered the Axxess box was not programmable (too old). Had to buy a new digital signal processor (PAC brand - $89). Once the new box was installed, and over the next few weeks, I discovered several things were not functioning properly. Radio microphone didn't work. Ipod (USB) sound didn't work. Pulled out the radio and discovered the installer (a younger guy) had swapped the two 1/8" jacks and that's why they both were out. Was driving around another couple of weeks and realized my two rear speakers weren't putting out sound. I'll be pulling the radio out AGAIN tonight to probably discover the rear speaker wires are either floating or hooked up incorrectly. If you HAVE to use Best Buy's car audio installation service, be sure that the manager does the work or check it all before you leave and be prepared to visit the bay several times. :o( read more

I'll gladly start spending my thousands at Costco now as I was told my local GM today echo pulled me aside while picking up an item, that I'm no longer welcome in the store and would be blacklisted due to my high returns that allegedly isn't "profitable" got them even though I literally owe them $7590 now on my BB card. Their own idiotic return policy that I've done nothing wrong but taking advantage of when needed. Pretty sure it's border line illegal what they are doing, but, they can go to hell and I'll take my literal thousands I spend there each year somewhere else! They lost a great customer. read more

Went into the store to trade-in a few phones after upgrading and to make a fairly major purchase. I was helped by Sharla. She was AWFUL. She was entirely rude and disrespectful. When I would ask a question, she would ignore me. I'd ask again and she would answer in a very short and rude manner. When she did answer, I can't begin to describe how rude she was in her responses. She was argumentative about everything. Here's one example: Sharla proceeded to tell me the model number was NOT printed on the back of the phone. I pointed out that the model number was in fact, on the back of the device. She argued and said it was not. She was beyond rude about it. Apparently the model number printed on the back of the iPhone is not the model number needed to complete the trade, but the model number WAS still printed by APPLE on the back, bottom of the phone. She shook her head and huffed. Rude. Sharla then proceeded to tell me the phone had no value. That would have been fine IF 1) It were true, and 2) She was KIND about it. I asked how that could be considering it was newer than the other two phones I was trading in and they both had value. Her explanation was that the newer phones have less value than the older ones a lot of the time. Ok...fine. I asked a couple more questions, twice, because she continued to ignore the first time I asked. She was snippy when she did respond. After finally having enough of her attitude, I finally called her out on it. I said, "you know, you could be kind when you respond...you don't need to be rude". She tolled her eyes, huffed, threw my phone down and said, "I'm done with this one!" and then said to her associate, "you can take over". I said, "yes, please do" and then told Sharla I didn't appreciate rude customer service. She had the nerve to say, "I don't appreciate a rude customer". WOW!!! I can honestly say, I have NEVER been treated so poorly in customer service EVER before. I am appalled! I requested to speak to a manager. Chris came over and I complained to him about her disrespectful, argumentative, condescending and RUDE behavior. He asked what he could do to make it right. I appreciated that; however, there was nothing for him to do other than to acknowledge my complaint. For the record, I said nothing to be rude to her in any way. She was snotty from the very beginning. Andros and Joanna helped me complete the trade-in and both went above and beyond. They were extremely friendly and polite and we even had a few laughs. It is worth mentioning that the phone that Sharla said had "no value" had a value of $225. Quite a significant disparity. Sharla was just lazy and didn't want to help. Andros continued to help me through my purchase and answered all of my questions. He was extremely gracious and I appreciated both his time and his willingness to help. He also apologized for Sharla's behavior (not that he should have needed to, but I appreciated it). He also helped me check-out. I would give Andros 5 stars if I could. I would also rate Joanna quite high. If I had to rate Sharla's behavior and overall attitude, I would give her negative 10 stars. I settled on 3 stars for this review since negative stars can't be factored into the average. No sense in letting one terrible customer service representative ruin it for everyone. I sincerely hope that Sharla's behavior is dealt with and something is done to curtail it in an effort to prevent it from happening to other customers. I am a fairly regular shopper but I can tell you that Sharla's demeanor will prevent me from wanting to visit my local store. I am extremely disappointed that this was allowed to occur. Fortunately, this store has other associates and managers that compensated for her abhorrent rudeness. I will add that even if Sharla was just having an extremely bad day, there is still NO EXCUSE for ever mouthing off to a customer like that. My fiancé and I went into Best Buy today to look at TVs. We already knew exactly which one we are going to get we looked at online before we went. We went back into the TV section and couldn't find anybody to help us. Standing there confuse looking for the specific TV if I gentleman walked up and we asked him if he would mind helping us find this TV. We have been into Best Buy several times including last weekend and could not get anyone to help us. Every time we go in there we get ignored. But today a worker I believe his name tag said Oso went above and beyond to help us find the specific TV. He went into the back could not find it so he had to hunt it down personally himself. I will say that when you come in to any Best Buy, you will be asked if you need help, but it's a toss up whether it's a snarky person that obviously doesn't want to be there, or the person that loves their job at Best Buy. If you get the latter, that person will bend over backwards to help you find EXACTLY what you need. Sad story here: My husband wanted to get me an HP TouchPad for my birthday, since they were reduced to $99 (quite the deal) because they were discontinued. He called BestBuy repeatedly for a week before being told they'd be receiving a shipment on 8/26 and would hand out "tickets" on the morning on 8/27. Since he had go into work briefly, I decided to get to BestBuy early to hold our place in line. I get there just before 9, they open at 10. I'm the only one there for a while, but within about 20 minutes, there are about 7 other people in line. All these people called and got the same response as my husband. So, we're waiting. At about 9:30, an employee pokes his head out and says the Touchpads are all gone. They handed out tickets to a line of people at 3am. WTF? 3AM. Had we known they'd be there passing out the tickets at 3am, we would have been there. They open at 10...why were they there at 3am? Why wouldn't they mention that on the phone? Kinda sketch. Our guess is that the employees told all their friends and family just what time they'd be handing out the tickets. The rest of us were clueless. I suppose this means we'll be getting an iPad, and not from BestBuy either. For computers, I'd recommend Costco, anyway. You get a better warranty (2 years) and a better price (I saved $300 for the same model). TV prices are also better at Costco. UPDATE 7/19/2014: Three years later, I haven't been back. No. Absolutely do NOT buy here unless you are in an absolute rush to get your product, like, that same day. Best Buy Stores have been hit hard by the online buying market, and they've had to trim stock and jack up prices to maintain their physical location. Seriously: a hard drive crash had me looking for a drive FAST. Best Buy had me cornered, and I paid for it. I could buy the identical drive on Best Buy's online store for $15 less. Basically, there will be about a 20% markup at their physical location. Here's the plan: go here, see what you like and what feels nice, and then go home and ORDER it! There are also very reputable websites around that will give you even cheaper deals. Newegg.com is excellent for computer-related, while www.bhphotovideo.com is good for photo & video. Their geek squad is underwhelming. I knew more about DSLR cameras than their professional camera guy. Too bad! Shopping at Sears revealed slightly better big-box deals. Much like the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause, Unlike the cannabis enterprise you are running from your mom's basement, the compensation package at Best Buy is not commission based. Basic economics, for those who live in the real world. What Best Buy does provide for the technology-obsessed junkie is access to an oasis of competitively priced electronics unrivaled by anyone, anywhere. You can caress, fondle, grope and even purchase the newest gizmos for hours a day, even on Sunday. Take the first flight departing fantasy island and give it a go. If you arent transformed into an alternating current possessed Zombie looking to drop some serious cash, seek immediate professional help. Terrible product quality and mediocre customer service! I had purchased a laptop from best buy a few months ago. The computer had issues ever since I had it opened up and running. Could not find wifi signals, could not update like it should through Windows, could not run HP update, etc. I had to contact Windows customer service in order to find out how to download and update the computer myself. That worked only one time and only once. Also had to manually discover wifi signal myself and enter the signal name and password every time. Once I had the time to bring the computer in and have it fixed and running properly, it was outside of the deadline. They wanted to charge me over 200 dollars to get the computer working the way it should have since day one. The guy in geek squad had taken a look and seen that it was way out of date on Windows 10 OS and never had an HP update. I explained that the computer had been that way since I had bought it from best buy. I asked to talk to the manager and the only thing he wanted to was knock 50 dollars off the $200+ fee I was going to be charged. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING! They won't even stand behind their own products even though they could both tell that the computer was dysfunctional since the day I received it. The repair should have been free since the proof was staring right at THEM! Had to return a camera that I bought a month ago and unfortunately the store warranty is only 14 days. The clerk in customer service sent me to Geek Squad and said sometimes they make exceptions and just exchange. Well no exchange for me, which is unfortunate because it's the holiday season and a camera does come in handy, especially when family members are coming to town! The manager kept asking when I bought it and that leads me to the assumption that he has the power to override the exchange. This is my assumption and I'll not hold it against them (Too Much). We are record collectors and while trying to find a keyboard for my tablet which was futile, lol, shelves empty. I definitely can see the market change for Best Buy. We found some cool records for our collection. The one I chose was a Beastie Boys Sounds of Science. The plastic was torn on two corners and two areas of damage where the cover was exposed including a half inch dog earred corner. I asked for a small discount 10% maybe. I was met with confusion by the polite clerk. She asked the manager on duty, she said "No, since thee actual product isn't damaged, I can't give a discount." "If the record was damaged then yes". Let me inform Best Buy, the cover of a vinyl record IS AS important to the collector as the vinyl itself. It can make or break the asking price for a vinyl record. Some collectors have vinyl and are in search of the mint sleeve. If you want to sell vinyl records, know your product. Unprofessional to say that the actual vinyl is the product and not the cover sleeve. read more
