I generally don't have a bad experience with Best Buy but this time I ordered a washer/dryer and set up an installation appointment. Great, that was easy. The day comes, the tracker has an appointment time range and is updating like my technician is going to be there as expected. At 645 the tracker updates to say the tech got there at 536...? So I call and am told that the delivery was never happening that day bc the items weren't delivered in time so I'm going to need to reschedule. Was anyone going to let me know that? Apparently not. The next available appointment was a week and a half away. The AI customer service is wildly condescending in situations like this... I canceled my order and went to Lowe's. Got it for the same price and delivered/installed a few days later. read more

Located in a semi-sketchy part of North Charleston close to the mall, Best Buy is still hanging on as a staple of "brick and mortar" physical locations. The outside seems normal enough, on par with our memories of a begotten age but the magic has dissipated considerably when compared to their golden age. I blame this in large part due to a smaller product selection and customer service from the time I used to visit back around 1997-2000. I'll admit, I love Best Buy. I have a very expensive home theatre, I have a bunch of CDs, DVDs, Blu Rays, 4ks, Xbox and Nintendo games along with a Galaxy Fold phone and accessories. I list these products b/c many of them aren't available at Best Buy anymore. With the advent of streaming, Best Buy no longer carries physical media. So, when you stream Toy Story 2 and say "hey, where's that scene with Stinky Pete?" well that's because Disney has altered the movie and unless you have a physical copy your memories are all you have of the scene. Or perhaps you purchased a game on Sony's streaming service, yup you don't own that either. My point is Best Buy isn't there to give you an option to streaming anymore and their floor space has opened up to even more boring and drab "knick knacks" instead of electronic goods. Please note the inventory of DYI items like wire, connectivity butts, odd length of HDMI cable and things of that nature have been scaled down. I strongly advise checking online if you don't like just browsing like me. Also, a lot of options in terms of computer mice, keyboards and things of that nature aren't a plentiful anymore. I mean, it's better than many other competitors but not what I remember of the golden age of Best Buy in the 2000s. They do have a good number of phones and accessories as well as gaming consoles with the game selection being scaled way down. They have a decent number of controllers and things of that nature but most have been replaced by toys like Funko Pop, Disney and that kind of stuff. It's odd because it caters to the much younger crowd while the store itself is a more adult centric business model. There again, most do shop online so it's a balancing act, a direction I loathe as an avid window shopper. This is the first Best Buy I ever stepped into roughly 29 years ago. They've continued to have competitive pricing, yet customer service has declined along with products and selection. If you're a window shopper, I invite you to come by. However, if you need an item and expect it to be in stock, I suggest checking the website first. read more

I typically don't need much from Best Buy and do a lot of shopping online for that type of stuff. This store is okay, but I generally avoid this location due to the parking sitch. When it came time for new phones, my friend had already started the process so we ended up here. I stuck with AT&T since the original iPhone came out, but with the deals they're offering to switch carriers these days it's hard to resist. We decided to join forces and port 4 number from AT&T to Verizon and all upgrade to iPhone 13 pros. We talked to the Verizon rep Naijah at Best Buy and he said he could handle everything there. I know doing a job like this with carrier switches, multiple original accounts, rebates, etc... can be complicated, but he was confident and really seemed to know his stuff. We came in and waited for him to become available. Because it was so busy he had someone else get us started which I wasn't a fan of because that's how things get screwed up. Needless to say, we had some major issues with porting numbers over amongst other things. Naijah was able to get things in order. I was the only one who left with a phone because the others were out of stock and needed to ship. We eventually got everything working, but I wish we just went to the Verizon store to start. Naijah told us we would get tracking numbers for all the phones which never happened. Best Buy couldn't find them and Verizon said because we didn't buy from them so they couldn't help. Three out of the four of us had issues with some features of the new phones working and others not. It took days in some cases for the numbers to finish porting. We were also not given any of the information about getting our rebates and sending the old phones back. All of which was very important info. I felt like Naijah talked a good talk up front, but once he got the sale he didn't follow through with all the details. Those details are what made our $5000 phone purchase less enjoyable and left me doing a lot of follow up and waiting on hold for customer service reps after the fact. read more

Best buy said that since the box looked untouched that they would not honor their return/warranty policy. So. This place has very competitive prices and we love the open box specials. We went inside to pick up an antenna adapter for my husband's new car entertainment system. The Auto Audio store that we normally frequent has the antenna adapter for $71. We went to Best Buy online and got it for $19 with instore free pick up. Conveniently or strategically placed near the audio antennas were some open box electronic items. We found a Pioneer rear back up camera for only $79 which was not bad at all. It was fully automated and easy to install. Continuing to Peruse around the store, we found the S10 Launch display Kiosk. Boy was I excited!!! I had no idea this phone was launching and glad that I was eligible of an upgrade. I temporarily lost my mind with excitement (for an old lady that just uses the phone only to call, text, snap pix, facebook and Yelp)! While watching the introductory video of the Samsung Fold phone I was saying to my husband "I want it, I want it" but at $2000 He said NO... We will wait for all of the kinks and bugs to get worked on. Anthony and My husband got into a lengthy techie conversation about Huawei, Apple, and Galaxy phones, their capabilities, capacities, and functionalities. I just stood there smiling like a deer in headlights. So, I settled for the S10+ which has great features but it doesn't fold(GRRRRR). It's all good, I am a diehard Galaxy phone Lover. I have owned each one except for the S9. I'm jumping from S8+ to S10+. What's important to me is the quality of my pictures, the long lasting batteries, and the free Ear Buds. The staff was helpful (Anthony was just awesome), the store was neat and clean, there was ample parking in the public parking lot, and we found everything we wanted and needed in just 1 stop. Although I like my Samsung washer and dryer I recently purchased, my experience with Geek Squad and scheduling an appointment to put in a steam dryer kit that was forgotten during delivery and hookup has been extremely frustrating. It would make me hesitate to purchase anything else from this store. The initial person who left a message for me was never in when I returned the call and never returned requests for her to call me back. Geek Squad at the store told me they couldn't arrange that appointment and gave me another number to call. I guess they think I work for them. Then I arranged an appointment for the following week with this new number and had to reschedule when a conflict came up. The person I talked to reschedule never notified the tech and I found a note on my door saying sorry we missed you. Make an appointment online. I thought I already had an appointment so I didn't do that. (on neither of my appointment dates did a tech notify me of my 4 hour window) When I received a text the morning of my appointment saying don't forget to schedule an appointment online, I called the 800 number again to verify I had an appointment that day. I was told I had one between 12:00-4:00. By 4:30 with no one showed up and during this call I was told I didn't have an appointment for that day. Some misunderstanding. They have one more chance. If this one doesn't work out I'm going into the store again and raising hell until they refund me the cost of that kit. I can't waste any more time on this. read more

This store is ok. Some departments are better stocked than others. I saw several associates but none of them spoke to me. They have a great variety of tech items. I like how they have some of the items on display so you can try them out before you buy. But I think can find better deals on many items elsewhere. I like the recycling bins for tech by the door. The greeters at the door were super welcoming and friendly. The employees at the customer service desk, on the other hand, were dismissive and didn't even give me the courtesy of looking me in the eye when talking to me. I like he layout of the store and the location as it is easy to get to from all directions. The store is well managed and I enjoy being able to walk around and see and touch everything before making a purchase. Geek Squad Tech Support. North Charleston, SC On my first visit, I was in need of a battery for my laptop. I had an appointment that was a day and a half from the original call placement. Great 5 minutes and out the door. When I arrived I was informed they did not have them and that I could go to Battery Plus or online. On my second trip, I did not make an appointment. The sign in the store states drops off your device and shop. I brought the battery and my laptop in with my wife in tow to look at a new stove and microwave while they installed the battery as the first Clerk told me they would do. It is about a 15 - 20 minute time frame if you don't know what you are doing. I handed the battery and laptop to the clerk and he input my information into their system as I stood there. He looked up at me after a few minutes and told me to leave them the items and they would be ready 3 days later. EXCUSE me! I said nothing and told him I would do it. No thank you, no apology. Sorry I walked out. No stove, no microwave shopping. I went home did a Utube and installed the battery in 20 minutes. The same night as my first visit I asked a clerk if they had a cover for my device. After waiting 10 to 15 minutes another employee came up and said they did not have any in stock. I saw a group of clerks huddled in another area, including the first clerk that I was waiting on. Why do I pay for tech support? Why do I go back to Best Buy? Today I not only was on hold for another 45+ minutes but was trying to chat with someone online to see if I would be better assistance. NO. Horribly understocked store. Over half of everything was blank on the shelves, the other half was on the floor. All the associates were busy, but at least they were working. I had a hard time finding what I needed, but when I was ready, not a single regular checkout line was open. They had the customer service line open as a makeshift check out, with about 3 people in line. Kinda odd, but whatever. Finally! After much debate with the wife, I went here to get a television for our kitchen. I found the size I wanted and the bracket to mount it with out much assistance. The layout is pretty self explanatory except when it comes to checking out. The checkout is on the side of the building instead of the entrance and the guys standing there had to be interrupted to be served. Perhaps they were tired from Black Friday when we went but customer service was pretty slack. After checking out you go through a second check point to leave. TSA ish. Although this is nice I prefer going to the physical store where I can work with someone who's knowledgeable about the product. That's why I love Best Buy. At Best Buy the employees are always eager to find the perfect product for you and further more will make sure you know how to use it before you leave. And for those that feel they could probably find it cheaper online...THEY PRICE MATCH!!! I think for all my electronic needs I will always use Best Buy. As far as the Rivers location goes it is bigger with more selection compared to the other two in the area. So we had kind of an emergency we needed washer and dryer. everywhere we went they said it will be delivered next Saturday there's best but promised us next Tuesday I didn't think it would be that complicated to buy washer and dryer but it was. Right now they are running a promotion if you spend $1500 you get $100 gift card and the Google echo. We came around eight and left around 840 it was not easy but we did it I've never had my own washer and dryer so I did not know anything about it the young kid explained a lot to us and was very nice unfortunately I forgot his name. This has been the worst experience I've ever had. An associate Kyle sold me an Apple Watch on dec 21 2010 and never said that it wasn't cellular or explain anything about the watch. When I brought it back a week later to up grade yet again nothing was explained which didn't matter because they didn't have the product in stock and the guy was very rude. In today again dealing with Kyle and just finding out about it not being cellular and of course now they are saying there's nothing in file and of course they do t have that product in stock can't find phone number or anything thank bud for bank statements. I chose to get a subwoofer amp combo installed. First of all to be fair the tech said they dont take this installation through their website. I didnt know which category it would fall under. To make a long story short. I took it to them because I didnt have the tools. After watching a few youtube videos on doing it yourself but like I said I didnt have the tools. This was a simple stealth powered sub woofer that fits under a car seat. The tech couldnt do the job. He didnt feel comfortable going through he firewall so he couldnt do the job. He said they havent been through any training with best buy so its not his fault. I had to get it installed at an independent place near me. So to make a long story short, Dont go here to get work done IF you ever find a way to contact them since they make it impossible to contact their stores by phone. Had to bring back a dyson vacuum that was purchased here two months ago that quit working. I did buy the protection plan and got a different brand.problem is that the dyson cost me over 300 with the warranty but only received 278. The vacuum I picked out cost 250 and with the new warranty had to pay an extra 75. Total loss on buying a dyson vacuum that lasted a month was 115.30 out of pocket . Best Buy sells garbage and I will never recommend buying a dyson at all .i do not like the return policies or crap Best Buy sells .i will never purchase anything from Best Buy and recommend buying your stuff someplace else or you could spend more money on new items or be stuck with stuff that doesn't work.dont gamble with your money read more

Approached a salesperson and he said "just a sec" and I never saw him again...hmm...I did take 2 showers today and used deodorant. purchased a Monsters and Men cd...but they never can find my Rewards Zone number in the system...so no points for me today . the weather is HOT...the customer service was NOT' it's tax free weekend, but it wasn't very crowded so feel that was no excuse? enjoying the music on the cd...so it wasn't a wasted trip in that regard. in response to the review regarding lack of cds (my son tells me noone listens to cds anymore) I like them in my car since my phone isn't up to date yet , nor do I like fooling with downloading & plugging in stuff ....but anyway, Best Buy will order anything you want and it arrives in the mail pretty quick, or you can order yourself on the Best Buy site. 8/5 update...went back to get a smart phone and Eric was great. It took me a long time to finally upgrade my phone . I'd go and look and change my mind, almost did the same this time. I walked around the store contemplating and went back to the cell phone area and Eric approached me and asked if I needed assistance...He was very patient with my technically/mechanically challenged self ..he was very informed and helpful, knew his stuff and could write a book "Smartphones for Dummies".
