Best Buy has changed in a big way over the years. In the old days, Best Buy was a great place for audio or visual components for your home entertainment. Today, it sells a lot of stuff it did not 20 years ago ... like ovens and stoves, refrigerators, cell phones and the like. It just doesn't carry many of the components it used to. Probably Amazon and all the online ordering has forced the change. I went to the store looking for something, and ended up on Amazon where the selection was much better. Best Buy had what I wanted, but not the choices. Still and all, if you are looking for something in Best Buy's niche, it remains a good store for immediate gratification. We still shop at Best Buy, and the personnel there were very helpful. They either have what you want or not, and the staff can get you a quick answer and helpful suggestions. We'll continue to shop at Best Buy as it does fill in a specific niche for electronics purchases. Good place. read more

I was the worst customer service experience that I have ever had. I feel so cheated. I purchased a GE washer for $979.91 and it stopped working after 1.5 year. My choice was to pay $800 to repair it or spend an additional $979 to purchase a new one with no consolation or allowances, after years of loyal purchases. They sold me the washer and then turned their back on me. They don't back the manufacturers they sell and they don't support their customers. Washers are meant to last on average 8 to 14 years not just 1.5 year. read more

Sold used printer ink that costs $71.00. Got home the box was sealed like a new set of cartridges but the cartridge containers were open and there were dates written on them. Went to return them since the cartridges were empty!!!! I was told they you can't return opened packages. How do you know something isn't right if you don't open it? The dumb cashier asked me if anything was wrong with it, even though the package was 100% sealed. Then she didn't take it back because of a 15 day return policy. After talking with a guy that had NO CLUE in car audio, I was ready to walk out, and then, I ran across Alberto C! Alberto recognized that I may have been frustrated and asked how he could help. After explaining my frustration with the previous "Best Buy" associate, he offered to walk me back to the systems and answered all of my questions. He then wrote up a spec sheet, offering my different options and guaranteed that Best Buy could handle the job quickly and affordable. Wow!!!! We ordered a dishwasher 4 weeks ago, and it's still not installed. The first dishwasher was damaged in shipping, and the second one has been sitting uninstalled in the kitchen for a week. They unhooked our old dishwasher to take it away on Monday, the 6th promised date of installation, but they didn't block off the hot water tube, so now we can't use hot water in the kitchen or it leaks. When I got to the desk, I wanted to return a $35 battery that an employee told me would work with my camera. I left for vacation the following day. The battery did not work with my camera. When I returned from vacation, I tried to return/exchange it. Literally the most obnoxious return policy I've ever heard of- You have 2 weeks to return something. I go to Best Buy way more than my wife likes me to go. What can I say, if I am the IT guy for the family I have to keep up. Best Buy is not top of the line electronics but their Magnolia division is. I have found that the personnel that work in that section are generally very knowledgeable. I had a great experience there with my newest speakers. However, I usually frequent the branch in Tinley Park just because of traffic and distance. Christmas is approaching and it just makes the present process go easier if I pick out my own electronics and my wife wraps them and I pretend to be surprised on Christmas morning. Lately, I have had an itch to have an Apple computer, hey, don't hate me PC people, I just want to branch out. I went here and had a terrific experience with the Apple people who work right here. My sales consultant; Chris Martinez, was without a doubt the most professional, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly sales person I've ever(and I've met a lot) worked with. I came in the store on a mission to find the right equipment for my home entertainment upgrade. I explained what I had going on already and what my needs were; and Chris took his time to go over a lot of options, helped me with my configurations and didn't hesitate to point out better/best options. Making the choice to walk into a store with the intention of spending some or a lot of money can sometimes be overwhelming. Sometimes you walk away because of bad service or because of a pushy sales associate. I not only had a great experience; but I was appreciative and thankful after shopping there. I'm looking to buy my husband a remote starter for his car so I decided to walk in this evening to inquire about making an appointment for this. I waited like ten minutes and then walked back to the gentlemen at the front who greeted me and asked him if I was supposed to just stand back there and wait for someone to come to me ? I made a purchase on 9/6/20 for an Insignia washer and dryer as a gift for my mom. Paid $1316.18 which is STILL under warranty. The washer continues to leak even after we had a technician come out and attempt to "fix" the product. After this attempt, how can I trust that this product will even last beyond this year even if it gets "fixed"? We were simply requesting for the unit to be replaced. It's still under "warranty" right? Best Buy claims to stand by their products right? If I purchase a TV and it goes out within a year it gets replaced right? Why the different rules for appliances?? So..... after the run around, and several attempts and COUNTLESS HOURS ON HOLD, I've been lied to, disrespected and hung up on by their horrid customer service team, I am seeking a REFUND at this point because I simply regret spending my money with this company and urges anyone reading this review to consider my experience before purchasing appliances from Best Buy. I can't believe the experience I had at this location. Best Buy, you should be ashamed of the type of individual you allow as "Security", at your entrance/exit. I have never had the type of experience I had with this individual at any business in my entire life. I owned a retail business for 7 years and never spoke to, or allowed my employees to speak to anyone the way I was spoken to or deal with a customer on the manner I was dealt with. On 12/28/14 at approximately 8:06pm I walked through the door of a busy store, many people at check out and throughout the store, some seated at various stations and others browsing. I was abruptly stopped by the point of contact, security employee. He informed me that the store is closed in a not so friendly tone. I informed him that all I need is a charger and they're right there, as I am familiar with the layout. This employee told me no, as my kid's looked up at me with puzzled expressions. I then told him that there is a store full of customers, I will be out before any of them, I just need a charger for my son's iPad, to which he responded in a power trip inspired tone "dont make me throw you out of here, in front of your kids!" Noting his offensive posture (which I was fully prepared to respond to) and trying to keep my composure amidst a pretty intense adrenaline rush, I responded "You do anything goofy, and we'll have a serious problem!" (struggling to monitor my language and tone, in front of the kids). Was he going to attempt to physically remove me from the store!?! Let me say that I haven't had a physical confrontation with anyone since I was in my twenties, (nearly 20 years) yet if my kids weren't with me, I may have left there in handcuffs. My retail stores, Wireless Phones and Accessories, of all things, (before I sold them) were a 9am to 8pm operation, yet I've worked, just as my employees have until as late as 11:00pm, maintaining a philosophy that we're never too big for our customers and as long as we're serving guests, we won't lock our doors to other guests.Guess who's too big for their customers, Best Buy. I will avoid shopping at Best Buy at all costs, until or unless I can somehow get past the intense anger I have over being disrespected by this employee and having to explain to my children that sometimes people behave that way and it usually has nothing to do with you, it's just how they are. 1 month ago, I returned a Sprint IPAD Mini to the Best Buy in Orland Park. I bought it at the mobile counter there and they directed me to return it to the geek squad desk. I made sure to ask at the geek squad desk that this would also remove the device from my sprint account, as it was charging me 15$ a month for the data plan. They told me it comes off automatically when they scan it into the system. I receive my sprint bill today, and behold. I am not only charged the pro rated amount from when I activated it, but it is still on my account. Sprint cannot remove the device because Best Buy in Orland Park has not marked it as received in their system. Now the fun part... yet disturbing.... I have called Best Buy in Orland Park 3 times in the last 3 hours. "Steve" at the main call desk has told me... "We are running a big promotion in our mobile department and the workers are really busy. They will not be able to answer the phone." I asked, can they call me back today? "Probably not. But we will get back to you." I asked Steve, "I am a customer too and I would like to be called back sometime today, is there a manager that can do this for me?" Then Steve tells me, "Our manager isn't in." I'm sorry, so now Customer Service is put last and a stores' "Big Promotion" comes before someone who purchased a product and the store couldn't even "return it" correctly a month ago is of no concern to them... that SPEAKS VOLUMES!!! Not sure why there are so many negative reviews about this location but we didn't end up purchasing anything. We visited this location for some help from the Geek Squad. We had some weird Adware on our new computer. The store has a door man who appears to be checking for people that must try to steal items. All the other workers were helpful and checked in with us to see if we needed anything. The Geek Squad counter identified the issue with the computer onsite, fixed it in about 30 minutes, and charged us 40 dollars. Most electronic stores in the USA are declining as we also order many of our electronics online. But hopefully Best Buy will continue to stay in business to assist some of us that enjoy a more person to person purchase experience. read more

I went to the Orland Best Buy to exchanged a damaged tv. The "Supervisor", Emily, was extremely rude and condensing about the whole process. She refused return the tv because it was an online order and it was unknown to her if I damaged the tv myself or if it was UPS. I called the 800 number for Best Buy, and the Customer Service Representative said it should be no problem for the store to take it back and exchange for a new one. Emily still did not let me exchange the tv because it was a "store specific policy". I left the store with my same damaged tv and just went to the Tinley Best Buy and was able to exchanged the tv! Asked one salesperson where to find what I was looking for and he pointed to the next aisle. Once there, I spent 10-15 minutes looking at the merchandise and watched the salesman (who had just pointed me in that direction) walk over to four more employees and then proceeded to stand around and joke/laugh with each other. I went to this location on October 6, 2022, I purchased a open box clothes dryer that was on sale. It was scheduled for delivery on Oct 20,2022. I took a day off work. On Oct 19th I received a text and email verifying delivery for that date, first the time said 7a - 7p finally, I was advised between 7am and 12pm - I sat home all day. I finally got concerned so I the called them to see what the hold up was. Only to be told the dyer never made it on the truck. Supposedly, I was to have gotten the call stating the delivery was postponed- I told the agent no I got a confirmation message ,when she looked further she saw what I was sent. No one called me to say anything, the only resolution was reschedule & call back to complain so I can get a discount. I told the lady I could not take off again till the following Thursday, October 27th. Perfect I was told, she scheduled it and said there should not be any delays. Oh, but there was, on Wednesday, October 26th I got a text & email advising the item was out of stock and no new date was known for delivery. How was my open box item, that was on the floor be out of stock? I called and no one knew any answers when I asked for a manager or supervisor they claimed one would have to call me back. As I type tonight I still have yet to hear from any one. I called a number that was supposed to be the corporate number listed in goggle to be told - he wasn't corporate & all calls are routed to that number, he stated he would expedite a delivery and upgrade my item. He can TRY to get me a delivery by the 24th I reminded him the today is the 26th. I just hung up on him. I called & cancelled the entire order. I'm not sure if it was just a that location that will sell your open box item after purchase & not notify you or do all of the Best Buy locations carry on like that. I went in two Saturdays ago. Wanted to buy my son a new iPhone for his birthday. Early that day I had stopped in the Verizon store and was completely frustrated. The Best Buy guy was excellent. He was very patient and helped me pick out everything. He even helped me switch from postpay to prepay. Stayed with me while I talked to Verizon and helped me every step of the way.
