Today I had my 25 years of family history research vanish from my desktop and my laptop The Family History site had me completely cut off and the cause was not easy to find. Online search revealed that if I attempted to remove what appeared to be the interfering program I would risk losing the years of research I had on those two computers. Once again JK came through. In about 15 minutes the technician had safely removed the interfering program and both computers were back to normal. The technician was terrific and did not charge me for this work. While I have one more 'component' to be addressed by JK Computers, I can happily attest to their prompt and efficient service just getting the basic aspects of my 'crashed' computer up and running. They also downloaded a new operating system. I will start this review by saying I have no affiliation with JK Computers, and this is my review on my first experience with them. I have been in the IT business for decades so I have a lot of experience with both computers and technicians that work on them. My computer has been giving me grief for a long time and producing situations that have baffled even me. Normally I can figure things out and fix them on my own through my own research. Not this time. My 12 year old computer finally had the best of me and I gave it up for dead. I decided to give JK Computers a shot to see what went wrong at the very least for my own knowledge of what the failure was (not expecting anything) before I went out to spend a lot of money on a new computer. But, something different happened. I discovered a computer shop that is the cleanest and most organized shop I have ever seen with extremely friendly and knowledgeable technicians. It is even cleaner and more organized than the ones I have experienced on the job in the big companies I have worked for! Then, the impossible happened. The JK Computers technician Ryan took my 12 year old computer, used his experience on it, and in a one day turnaround, mind you one day, not only fixed my computer but made it faster than I ever remember it to be for an incredibly low price! To say I was surprised and shocked is an understatement! Me, a computer veteran of decades am very, very impressed by JK Computers in Lockport. Ryan in short produced a miracle for me, saved me a lot of money on a new computer, and even took the time to give me advice on how I can make my computer even faster! We have brought many devices over the last few years to J.K and always had great service and complete satisfaction. My second Kindle was set up by them last May. Unfortunately, I may have tapped something inadvertently that caused it to only display 22 of the 97 books I had in my library. JK Computers came through when I needed them the most. I attempted to fix my laptop's bad CPU cooling fan and in the process could not get a ribbon cable reattached between the MB & IO board. Jamie was excellent and was able to make the repair as soon as I walked in the door. This really saved me, as the laptop was my primary work PC. It is nice to have a local shop that is so proficient in component level repair.
