My HP laptop stopped working after six months. I contacted HP support and was informed Best Buy in Rock Wall, Texas was my closest support center. The location is an hour drive, so I called their tech support to ensure they could assist. It took me two calls to get past their AI answering service, once I did the technician who answered said they do NOT service HP products still under manufactures warranty. He suggested I send it back to HP for support. I called the HP support line again to find their staff baffled, insisting that Best Buy is their local support center. I bought a new laptop there in November. I asked to have everything transferred to my new laptop and have the old one wiped clean. I live over 60 miles away. I have been back 5 times attempting to get their inept Geek Squad to actually do their job. The last time there they said they would replace my new laptop with another new laptop. Now I am sitting at my computer after picking it up on my 5th trip there only to find out that absolutely EVERYTHING is gone. None of my documents or pictures were transferred to my new computer as requested. I have lost EVERYTHING. I absolutely would NOT recommend taking ANYTHING to the Geek Squad at the Rockwall location. The level of ineptness is shocking. All I wanted was for all documents/pictures to be transferred and to have both an Owner and User passwords set up. 12_2023. Generally, I really like Best Buy (BB). They have a lot of great electronics. My experience this season is subpar at the Rockwall location. My wife called BB customer care at about 5:30pm and asked about availability for an Owlet baby monitor. The BB rep said that it was available at this 995 E. I-30 Rockwall location (their website even stated so). Rep wanted to take the order over the phone, process payment and to schedule pick up at Rockwall. Enough time was given and I arrived at the location at about 8:00 PM. BB had already withdrawn $345.53 from my bank acct. I checked in with Customer Service. They told me to wait as BB was verifying that they received payment. (My bank said they already had). Common sense: the funds have been withdrawn from my checking account, please go to the shelf and give me what I paid for, thanks. Instead, I was told to wait. I waited in the store roughly 45 minutes. Maybe longer. I asked the clerk to check again, she scanned the bar code on the email I received from BB. No, nothing, still processing. I would have liked for them to take the initiative: Sir, your payment has been processed, here's your product, thanks for shopping with us, good night. No. I got the impression that they were passing the time until closing time; instead of really helping out a customer. I checked the floor and the Owlet was not there. Meanwhile, the wife at home is waiting for me to pick up this baby monitor so that we could get some peace of mind rest. Closing time near, I checked for availability at Target. I drove to Target location in Rowlett. I walked into Target, found the exact model Owlet baby monitor, checked out, drove home. About the next day, I received notice from BB that they actually do NOT have what we paid for in their Rockwall location. Then why did the rep say it was there in Rockwall and take my payment? It was a complete waste of time. I could've been home with the fam. With our newborn. BB Rockwall, I feel very disappointed. And I had to wait about two business days to get a full refund. I asked the sales rep about store delivery and he informed me it could take two weeks, so I decided to pick it up myself. I returned to the Rockwall store the next day with straps for transit. At this time the customer service rep told me it was in transit from another store and couldn't tell me when it would arrive. I visited the Rockwall, Tx location on a Wednesday evening. The representative in the section I was in (David) seemed more interested in having a personal conversation with a previous customer and left me and another couple waiting for over 20 minutes. (A seating area might be ideal if service is going to be so slow). I finally was able to purchase my Chromebook but didn't need it until the next day for work. Once I set it up, I tried to plug in my monitor only to realize that he gave me the incorrect item. Right when I should have been working I had to return to the store to exchange for the Chromebook I asked for. There was a slight price difference ($20) and a manager (Preston) was able to negate that due to my inconvenience but I don't feel like my time or business was appreciated. I think moving forward I will look elsewhere and best buy will be a last resort option. The lack of professionalism by the phone rep was very sad. its is all scripted, and when you dont comply or agree, he just hung up on me. I needed to return a small appliance for an exchange, i have the extended warranty and the manufacture is 4-6 weeks out. I asked if they could have the store hold one of two for me since I am 45 miles away and didnt want to show up and they be gone, he was adamant that he wouldnt and couldnt, when I pressed, he hung up. The experience at this Best Buy has been okay. Typically, a Best Buy associate would come up to you & ask if you need help, however that was not the case this time. So I don't know if I can fully blame bestbuy for this one but because that's where I bought my appliance and they contracted out the work for the install they should be making sure the people they contract with do their job and they should be following up with me like an hour or two after the job was supposed to be completed to check in with me and at the very least the next day. So I don't want to make this a money thing or a status thing but you would think someone that has the bestbuy credit card with a decent spending limit and that just paid a decent amount for a appliance from you that you would want to keep that person happy. But anyways as you can see I ordered a new stove from bestbuy. I got delivery and install. My window was from 12-6 and they got here at about 5(I figured we would be able to have it ready to go for dinner that night) The old stove was already gone. The installers were polite and professional but they failed to uphold any and I mean any of the health and safety standards bestbuy told me they are doing for safety right now. Then it took them over an hour to "install" the stove. They took it out of the box on the truck. And then took all of the plastic off of it once inside even though I said several times not to worry about it because I knew I could do it faster. And they had to put on the cord which I had to let them borrow my tools because they forgot theirs. And they didn't even install the cord right. I had to fix it after they left. And the only thing I asked of them was to level it to my countertop and make sure the anti-tip device was installed. Both of which they tolde they could not do. They said they couldn't level it because they can't risk damaging my countertop(my wife and I levled it in the middle of the kitchen not affecting the countertop. And we don't have granite counters so there's really nothing to damage but they said they couldn't do either because it was bestbuy policy. So they really didn't install it. I was hoping for a full install because I have a bad back so it only took my wife and I 20 mins to level it but it was more difficult on my back than I was hoping for when I thought I was getting it installed. Then they leave which is when we levled it and got the anti tip device installed(only required two screws by the way) I went to go plug it in so we can be done and finally cook dinner now at almost 8pm and I found out they gave me the wrong cord. Here we are now 3 days later at 8pm still waiting on the cord with the stove sitting in the middle of the kitchen. I had the installers number so I have been talking with him and everyday he keeps telling me he's bringing me the cord and it never happens. Bestbuy will be getting a call but Everytime I call the hold times are over an hour. This makes me think twice about making big purchases from bestbuy again. And maybe if it was a geek squad install it would be different i don't know. And I know times are difficult for everyone right now but this is just ridiculous. If they can't do it then don't offer it. And if they aren't going to uphold the health and safety practices that I thought were set by the CDC then why lie and pretend to make people feel safe it's just wrong. read more

Bought a freezer over the summer 2019, delivery only, they were several hours late, way past the delivery window I had. I was mad they took up my whole day waiting for them. Fast forward to end of 2019... Bought and paid for a large TV with wall mount installation. Did they show up in their scheduled window? NO. Did they call, text or email me? NO. I had to call the store and wait 45 minutes on hold to talk to anyone. Their third party vendor stated they were not able to transport the tv due to its size so they placed me in the reschedule list. Was I notified? NO. So when the hell were they planning on making the delivery and installation I paid money for? Earliest available time frame was a week later. Unacceptable. I was given an escalated status. Scheduled for next day. Same 7am to 1pm window. Did they show up? NO. Did I get a call, text or email? NO. Do I have my TV? NO. Am I getting pissed off? HELL YES. Do I recommend any Best Buy delivery or installations? HELL NO. Anyone that buys at Best Buy, buy only what you can take with you, on the spot. I visit not knowing if it's going to be a miserable experience or a great one. Some of the employees go out of their way to help, some are condescending a$$H0l$. NEGATIVE- I recently purchased Microsoft Surface Laptop and it stopped working after two days. Took it back to Best Buy and the Geek Guy wasn't helpful at all and rather dismissive. He ended up saying it would cost me $100 dollars to reboot it... really? I wasn't about to pay more money on a new purchase. I left extremely disappointed to say the least. POSITIVE- Came back the next day, spoke to store manager, got a solution and was in and out in less than 20 min. NEGATIVE- I went in today and as I tried to pay with two printed gift cards they informed me they couldn't use them because they didn't have a barcode. They asked me if I had saved the e-mail where I got the giftcards from, as they were sure there was a link he was supposed to press on with barcode (because my husband is obviously an idiot that can't successfully print giftcards from an e-mail). Unfortunately, my husband likes his inbox empty and, of course, he had deleted it. The man checking me out then questioned me and schooled me on why would anyone delete an email with giftcards before one had actually used them... what if I had lost them? (because I'm obviously an idiot that misplaces giftcards...). There were 3 people that came to assist the guy checking me out (including a store manager) and NOT ONE offered a solution, the store manager even said that since my husband had deleted the e-mail there was nothing he could do to help me. I have just been hung up on after being on hold for JUST under 30 minutes. I was instantly placed on hold by the Geek Squad because "my system is loading and I'll be right back." Maybe this "geek" isn't so geeky if he can't figure out how to use Best Buy's system. And he's even LESS of a Geek if he just "accidentally" hung up on me. I called in on a different phone to the Geek Squad to see if the dude just forgot about me. That line has still not been answered after 12 minutes (and counting). This is a simple warranty exchange. The selection is usually pretty good, just like any other Best Buy. The people that have checked me out at the registers up front have always been helpful. Other than that, this place has left a lot to be desired lately when dealing with their customer service and managers. First I went to pick up a game that we pre-ordered. My husband made the order and I was picking it up but they wouldn't give it to me even after he called and said that I would be picking it up. If that's store policy, fine, but at least make that clear when placing the orders and try not to be such a jerk about it. Second we went looking for a specific item and there was only one left, however, the box had clearly been opened. Actually it had been ripped open, damaging the packaging. Bought a product online for in store pickup. The charge was voided, they then attempted to charge my account again, and then once more. Then after cancelling my order as I did not want to continue to be charged, they lacked the common decency to void the charge to my card and instead allowed the charge to be processed as a refund which means I am stuck without those funds for at least a week. I have some good and bad comments for Best Buy of Rockwall. I will start with the bad. I purchased a digital camera from Best Buy right before Christmas. I was very clear that I needed a fully automatic camera that would pretty much operate itself. I ended up buying a Nikon. I have had them in the past and found them to be a good product. This time I ended up getting a more advanced model. I was after a little more powerful zoom and something that would take good picture in lower light conditions. Well this camera did not take good pictures at all. They were all out of focus and blurry. Evidently you have to configure the camera settings based on the conditions. Not what I wanted. Now for the good. I took the camera back to Best Buy and they gave me a complete refund even though I did not have my receipt. So I am left the some pretty crappy pictures of Christmas this year but at least I am not stuck with a camera that does not work. I will continue to purchase from Best Buy. Not only have we purchased products from this location on different occasions, but we currently have a Tech Support contract with Geek Squad. Up until yesterday, we've never had an issue with customer service. My 16 year old son loves computer technology and plans on pursuing a degree in that field. As he decided where he might like to work part-time, The Geek Squad at Best Buy was an obvious first choice. With that said, it's understood that just because he applies for a job, doesn't mean he'll get it. It seems that most places want an application completed online. Prior to doing that, he contacted Best Buy to confirm this. He was told to come by the store. That was the first mistake. When he arrived, he explained to the individual that is seated at the front door that he was interested in applying for a job. That person told him he would need to do it online. When he returned to the car and relayed the conversation to me (he has his driving permit), I questioned if that pertained to the Geek Squad department or for all other areas. He was uncertain, but took the initiative to go back in the store and ask someone directly in the Geek Squad department. He returned to the car a few minutes later deflated, shook his said and said, "Never mind. I'm not sure how anyone would like working with that jerk." According to my son, he approached the Customer Service desk in the Geek Squad department. He asked the man behind the counter how old you had to be to apply and if they are hiring. He was very curt with his response and stated "no interviews this week" and added, "technically, I shouldn't be serving you right now. Next in line please." I wondered if maybe they were swamped. My son said there was only one person behind him. It was made very clear to him that he was not welcomed. Some people might say that my son will have to deal with rude people, which is so very true. However, an employee is standing under the "Customer Service" sign and this is the best you can offer? It was a simple question being asked by kid who's nervous and excited about a new possibility. I attempted to reach the manager, but the hold time became ridiculous. Clearly, I will no longer recommend patronizing this location. Based on other reviews, I'm surprised there haven't been other issues until now. And Phil, you suck at customer service, but thank you for the lesson you taught my son.
