I was never so disappointed as with my trip to Best Buy Geek Squad in Shakopee. I dropped my wife off at Walmart across the street and took her Apple Series 3 Watch into the Geek Squad. I waited for 20 minutes (no appointment) to talk to a Geek, and then showed them the watch. It had a visible crack on the upper corner, which I found when my wife asked me to take a look at it because it was acting funny. They showed me a sheet of bar codes, which was too small to read, and said the repair would cost $90. (I had told them I had AppleCare+ on the watch which they had taken another 10 minutes to look up and confirm). I told them the watch needed repair, so I agreed to pay. It didn't have a charge, so they put it on a charger and told me to wait. After 20 minutes they called me back up and said I needed to disconnect the watch from my wife's I phone before they could proceed. I went over to Walmart and tracked down my wife's phone and returned to Best Buy). When I got there, I initiated the Disconnect procedure on her phone, and then her phone said "can't complete.....please continue on the watch." When I told them the disconnect process needed to be completed on the watch, they said they couldn't get the watch to boot. [I was later to learn that one of the only ways to get the Serial Number of the watch that doesn't boot, other than the original box, is from the phone that it is connected to. A good Geek would have probably grabbed the Serial Number off of the phone, before the watch was disconnected. ] After now an hour and a half had elapsed, I just told them my time (and patience) was up, and to put it all back in a bag for me. The next afternoon, I took it into the Best Buy Geek Squad near the Burnsville Center. They told me they'd have to send the watch in, because they didn't do anything with apple locally. My best bet was to take it into an Apple Store, but they didn't think they'd get me in without an appointment either. The best thing they did was print out the receipt of my AppleCare+ waranty purchase. I tried to call call Apple's automated system from the parking lot to make an appointment, and was emailed a link to their web site. The Catch 22, was the web site wouldn't let me make an appointment without a serial number and the only way I had to get the serial number was off my phone if the watch hadn't been disconnected. Day 3, called AppleCare and asked for a representative. The representative told me that the serial number on the receipt had an "S" character in front that looked like part of the serial number, but was not. When I gave her the rest of the serial number, it came back as valid so she could set up the repair order and send out a shipping box. When she had me read the rest of the warranty info, it also had a statement that the repair should only cost me $69, not the $90 Best Buy was going to charge. Long story short, never, ever, never take anything into the Geek Squad at Best Buy or even buy anything from Best Buy if you can help it. This is only one of four really bad experiences I've had with them. I'm now leaving for good never to return. Over the past weeks I have ordered a number of curbside pick up items. I pick up during non busy times. First time was reasonable but today I got the runaround for thirty minutes. While sitting in the parking lot I called store three times and could never access. Bounced to other stores and a couple of terminal holds and disconnects. Of all stores, I would expect Best Buy to have their communications together - they don't. In the future I'll put my money on Amazon. read more

Most of the employees here are terrible people. The greeter is rude and does nothing. They could be used assisting other customers. Brandon in the mobile department is the only one who seems to care about helping the customers. I have been in this store a handful of times over the last few months and I notice he is the only one doing anything. The customer service here just seems to be getting so much worse. I will never buy from them again. They are rude and lazy !! I brought in a laptop to have the cracked glass screen to be replaced. They ask me how much did i pay for the computer. What does it matter what i paid for it? They estimate the repair cost from the price you paid ?? I said what does it matter ,i'm sure you have a part cost and a labor cost associated with this type of repair. the tech sounded like she was reciting what she learned in best buy classes. i ask to speak with the manager. He was as much of a puppet as she was. So the manager told me the repair cost is based on what you paid for it. He told me the propable cost would be 400.00 I left the store., called dell directly and the repair cost is 200.00 with shipping fees. Where did common sense go. STAY AWAY FROM THEM . How these stores stay in business is beyond me! Updating my review....kinda long. I made an appointment to have a car amplifier wire kit installed - their schedule was so booked it took over a month for there to be an opening (I will get back to that). Brought my car in for the work to be done - nice guy, clean bay, I was happy. Paid the 150 bucks and went on my way. Got the car home and the next day I go to install the amp and speakers (something that I have done numerous times) and it didn't work. I troubleshot the issue every way possible for several days and still nothing. I even thought my old amp was the problem and bought another one. I was stumped and wanted to bring the car back - called and was told the installer wouldn't be back in the shop for two more days. I waited... On the day I was told he'd be back I get up to the store well before they open in hope he'd be able to test the system and fix the problem. I wait, wait some more and then wait some more. That's when I made a quick drive to a local stereo shop and ask for some quick help. Well after days of me looking for answers it was finally figured it out - the BB installer, when hooking up the "remote turn on lead" never tested the volts and it was only getting 8 and not the 12 needed. Something so simple that should have been checked with a multi-meter like this other guy did. He suggested that because I paid good money for the install I go back to BB and get them to fix it. After testing with a jump-lead wire and everything working fine, I drive right back and still no installer. I go inside and the geek squad member sitting at the front table asked how he could help. When I ask about the installer coming in I'm told "he's not scheduled to be in until Sunday". Now I'm upset as I was told two days ago to come in today and now clearly understanding why it takes forever to get an appointment booked on their site. Then I'm asked if I want to make an appointment for sometime next week at another store - I said no, I want this fixed and I will just show up Sunday. He proceeds to insist I make an appointment at another store just in case (whatever). I was SO annoyed that I went home and did it myself. Took all of 10 min. Something so simple that their "MECP certified" installer should have checked. I was so relieved to have fixed my problem but was beyond frustrated with BB. (worth mentioning, when I was trouble shooting the issues I replaced his ground screw with a more realistic one - his was three sizes two small for such a gauge wire and ring terminal). I am done with BB. I will add one more example of horrible service - while I was there asking about when the installer was coming in, a woman came up to the same Geek Squad guy I was talking to and he asked what she needed (while still helping me). She wanted her new phone (that was delivered to her home- likely through BB) to be set up with her old data and have a screen protector put on. This guy was so insistent that she "could do it herself with the Samsung app" and when she clearly stated she wanted them to do it he questioned her "you want us to show you how to use the app when you can do it yourself"? She insisted that she wanted help, especially with some important data and the screen protector. He then just says, "okay go over to mobile and someone will be there to help". Both my and her experience is why these stores are dying. There's no help, no assurance, nothing (really) in the stores anymore either. For a retail store competing with online sales, it's customer service that will keep the customer coming back - this day I am certain they lost two forever. read more

Horrible customer service, I called 20 times in the last 4 days and not once has someone picked up the phone after 15-20min. I even called the customer service line and they were no help at all. I wanted to support Best Buy because it's local (Minnesota), but I never seem to have a real positive experience when I shop at this, or any, Best Buy. Last year, based off online research, I knew exactly what Macbook I wanted. I walked into Best Buy, strolled right up to the exact Macbook I wanted to buy, and waited there for 20 minutes. I had to walk up to the customer service desk and tell them I'm interested in buying something to get help. I can't just grab a new Macbook and take it to the register. Same Best Buy, but just the other day. I went in looking for a new TV. Our TV died (RIP) and I wanted to pick one up ASAP. Best Buy was my first stop. I walked right in, went to the televisions, and not a single person asked if I had a question. Again, I was there for about 20 minutes, ready to pull the trigger on a new TV. This time I didn't go to the customer service desk and went across the street to buy. read more

Purchased a refrigerator. Paid to get water installed. They would not install because you must have a value behind the refrigerator. Try to tell that was code. I was not told about this before the install. And it is not code. They would not disconnect old refrigerator and put the new one in place. When I went to the store they did not care. So we went to Home Depot and purchased the same refrigerator at a better price. read more

This Best Buy store isn't very old. It is a decent size. The staff seem friendly and helpful. I have gone in a few times just to pick the brain of the Samsung experts there. I have some Samsung gadgets like my phone that I have questions about from time to time. They are pretty good at helping me out with my techy questions. This location is near my work so when I stop in, it is at lunch time and I am normally in and out fairly quickly. I haven't spent excessive time there like I do the one close to home and stopping with my wife. Sometimes I need to get my inner geek on and that is best without my non-technical wife in tow asking when we are going to be done. :) read more

I was due for an upgrade on my cell phone. I stopped by Best Buy in Shakopee . Tyler and Brian were working the Cell Phone area. They knew exactly what to do. From getting the best deal possible to down loading our old phones to the new phones, they were professional. We got new phone covers and screen protectors with the rebates we received. My wife got the new Galaxy S10 and I got a Galaxy S10+. Thanks guys. We will be back for more great deals. read more

On my way home from work today I stopped buy Best Buy in Shakopee. What a waste of time. I had two or three items in mind that I was look for info on, and possibly to purchase. When I walked in the greeter greeted me with a "Hello". A good start, but that was the last interaction I had with an employee for the 20-25 minutes I was in the store. Other than when I left, the greeter thanked me for coming. I told her "Horrible customer service. Other than you, no one even acknowledged I was in the store." Employees, 6 plus deep, standing around various stations (home theater, mobile, etc.) doing their best to ignore customers. Employees BSing, checking their phones or just standing around doing nothing. I passed 8-10 employees while I was walking around almost every department in the store and not one greeting let alone a "Can I help you?" I noticed two couples have the same customer service experience I was having. While I was being ignored looking at remote controls. I noticed a woman flag down an employee for help in cameras. Initially I thought she was kind of rude/short with him. The tone she used to tell him "No, I haven't been helped." But I began to realize her frustration. Then I noticed a couple looking at TVs. Looking around obviously needing help. After realizing help was not going to be volunteered to them. The woman walk over to the home theater station and stood there staring until the employee looked up from him laptop. "Oh do you need help?" Yes, we're looking to buy a TV." You would think in today's retail climate brick and mortars would be trying a little bit harder or at least trying. It seems like this store has just given up. read more

I took my iPhone in for a front cracked screen repair at Geek Squad. The Tech looked at the phone and said we should be able to repair but cant if there is damage on the back. We both looked at it closely and didn't notice anything wrong. Being it is my phone I knew there wasn't any other damages. He said he would have to go get a managers approval and took the phone over a few stations, returned after about 5 minutes, and said they couldn't fix it due to a fracture in the back camera lens. The fracture was a noticeable fracture like a pen was used to crack the screen in the center where the camera is located. This would have been noticeable by both of us when we looked at previously. The tech said they couldn't repair and I would have to replace it. I walked out obviously not happy. I called the best buy store the next day and wanted to talk to a manager about the situation. I got the Geek squad manager and told him he should look at the cameras and will be able to see what happened. He look at the camera footage and called me the next day. He said he was the manager the day I was in and the camera shows the phone was in my possession the whole time. I called him a liar and said I obviously know if he took my phone or not. I took my phone to the Device Pitstop at lunch and said they would fix both. In one hour both were fixed for $160.00. This was $10 -$ 20 cheaper than Geek Squad quoted me for just the front screen. I went in to upgrade my verizon phone there were 3 people working in the cellular department not a single one acknowledge me or offered to help me in 20 minutes I was waiting there. Only person to acknowledge me was the greeter at the door. I will take my business elsewhere! read more

I will never buy another phone from Best Buy. I had a terrible experience the first time with it taking them 2hrs to activate the phone due to multiple errors made by several people with poor communication of what the last person did. I should have learned my lesson, but I returned today (2 yrs since the last experience). I purchased an Iphone 13. The person assisting us asked my phone carrier. I told him Sprint. He told me the phone would be $699 +tax. A different guy assisted at checkout, and stated the phone is $799 +tax, and that T-mobile is $699, but Sprint is $799. I went ahead with the purchase anyways. He asked me to confirm that the address was correct. I told him it was my old address. He told me to sign everything, and that he could change the address later, and would email me confirmation. We left the store, and got a call that he could not change the address, and I needed to call Best Buy corporate to change the delivery address. I was on the phone for over an hour with 5 different people who ultimately said they cannot change the address or cancel the order. I was told they are going to intercept the package and deliver it to my correct address, but at this point, I do not believe anything they say. read more

However, the night before delivery, Geek Squad calls and tells me that my TV never got to them and therefore couldnt be delivered and installed. read more

My boyfriend & I had some time to kill so we decided to stop by before heading to seafood night at mystic lake. I googled this place to GPS it and noticed it had 2.5 stars out of 5. I laughed it off and said "We'll just have to wait and see for ourselves!" When we arrived, we already had a bad impression of the place. This building is TINY compared to the Walmart & SAMs club on the opposite side. As we walked in, we were not greeted by the person by the door. He just looked at us. As we continued to walk through the store we found it to be pretty empty and boring. The workers avoided taking to us and were busy talking to each other. Only one worker looked interested in us and help direct us to the iPad Air covers. We purposely walked passed a few workers and they just looked at us. As we walked out, the same guy didn't say anything to us. Oh well! That's why we didn't buy anything anyways! The reviews found on Google were absolutely right! read more

I was undecided on which external hard drive to buy. The sales person asked me questions on my intended usage, the type of computers connecting to it. (I have PC & MAC). I recommended a hard drive. Had I not gone to the store and talked to him, I would have chosen the wrong drive by buying online instead of going to the store. read more

I had a remote start install and when I got my car home I noticed that it had a bunch of adhesive (some sort of strong epoxy) slobbered down the front end of my car. I was furious as my car is pretty mint as I'm a fussy guy and know every scratch which there are very few. I drive by this store quite often as it's near my work. I always see the cars behind the install center backed up in a line after they are completed. When I went to pick up mine after the install it was parked straight in which I found odd. I found out why when I got it home and into my garage. They parked it this way so that I wouldn't notice the hardened glue waterfalled down my front bumper when picking it up. I know they did it because I detailed my car the night before taking it straight there in the morning and went straight home directly after. I confronted them the next morning and of course they originally denied it but It didn't take much for them to surrender because they knew they were guilty. I was going to have them try to remove the glue but backed out because I didn't trust them. They had already shown me the quality of their work. I now get pissed off every time I wash my car. I hope that eventually I won't get so mad every time I see it but it's going to take a while. Don't trust Best Buy's rookie installers. If they don't show any regard to your vehicle on the outside I wonder what kind of shortcuts they take when wiring. Geek squad and their employees are under informed or don't tell the truth. I purchased a phone though best buy this last January. At the time it seemed liked a great purchase the employees seemed very knowledgeable and helpful. After choosing my device it was time to pay and I was asked if I wanted device protection. I said yes and told them I wanted the protection that my mobile carrier offered. The sales person then proceeds to tell me that I should buy their geek squad protection because it's the best way n the market. So I did and I walked out of the store feeling confident I had made a good purchase. Here I am now nearly a full year later and my phone gets stolen. I figure no big deal I have the best device protection I can get, at least that is what I thought when I walked into my local store to get a replacement. After talking to the geek squad I am told they can't replace my device because the protection plan that I purchased doesn't cover lost or stolen phones. I looked at them and said that can't be true and that I was assured that I had purchased the best protection I could buy and that I was not informed that their plan did not cover lost or stolen phones. The employee then continued to go back and forth with me and told me I was out of luck. From there I spoke with the manager and was told the same thing and left the store. After being lied to and then told they can't do anything I have decided to quit shopping there. read more

I was reluctant to go into this store due to employees not caring about customers needs. Thought I would give it a shot. Again. I went here to get into a phone that had just basics. I just been dealing with a new identity theft issue with my bank account. Supposedly it's easy to get an intruder with all this fancy stuff on yer phone. Well, I didn't think it would be challenging to find a good plan for a cheepy phone with no bells and whistles. It was more challenging to keep Ericks attention. He seemed to be more interested in his new Apple Watch and TEXTING someone then his customer. So in a 30 minute visit. He must have checked his watch about 3 times and texted someone around 6 times. I am a business owner and if Erick was my employee his butt would be walking out the door. Obviously he doesn't need a job for texting. Something he can do at home. I wonder how employees get away with this mentality. I'm sure they can do better with hiring employees as I'm sure there are people who need jobs better then that. I think they should go back to commission and make them earn what they are worth. Get caught with cellphone on the floor and your gone. I wonder how many employees would not be left. I'm sure it will be a really long time before I step foot in another Best Buy. Think twice before visiting. You may regret it. read more
