I had a very disappointing experience at Best Buy Store #397 that reflects poorly on the store's leadership and customer service culture. I came in to return an item that I believed was covered under my Total membership plan. When I was told it wasn't eligible, I was surprised and simply asked a few clarifying questions. The associate quickly became frustrated and responded in a dismissive tone, saying there was nothing he could do. I remained calm and asked to speak with a manager, only to be told that he was the manager. I then requested to speak with the General Manager. The associate walked a few feet away to the break room where the GM, Jeffery Williams, was and discussed my situation within earshot. When Jeffery came out, he already seemed irritated. Instead of engaging professionally, he immediately cut me off mid-sentence and said, "Yeah, you don't have a warranty protection," making it clear he had no interest in helping or even listening. When I asked for his business card, he didn't address me directly. Instead, he yelled at the associate to give me a card and walked away. I've been a loyal Best Buy customer for over 15 years. I'm a credit card holder, Total member, and have purchased appliances for two homes, 8+ TVs, and multiple Apple products. This interaction was the final straw. Stefan Mcclinnahan represents exactly what's wrong with retail customer service today. There was no accountability, no effort to resolve the issue, and no basic level of respect. Awesome selection of products, very mid to poor customer service. There's plenty of parking at this Best Buy center, although I will say a lot of spots are taken up by police equipment and just about every time I've shopped here there is always police present; not a problem but an observation. Customer service is either average or not too good. I've shopped at this location on multiple occasions and I usually find things on my own. Most recent I went into get a TV I bought online, I bought Best Buy's Geek Squad warranty and tech support plan, and it didn't improve my experience. I waited almost 25 minutes to get through to the line and waited for them to find my order. A lady ahead of me had a smaller TV and wanted to take her TV to her car on her own, but she was met with enthusiasm & employees insisted to help support her taking it to her car. When my TV arrived the same employees assumed I was going to take the TV in purchase that was significantly bigger to my car on my own and I had to ask for assistance; I wasn't met with the same enthusiasm or any. I'd understand if it was busy, but it was pretty empty on this visit. The value of the products you'll find are average, nothing that really stands out. Best Buy's warranty through geek squad is slowly loosing its value, now there are service fees when replacing your products which their once wasn't. Their tech support plan provides 2 years of warranty and if you cancel your subscription so are all your warranty. The one benefit is that it extends your return period by 60 days which is really the only great incentive; it's a plan that's consistently changing so do your research. I will say though black Friday and cyber Monday deals have passed you can still find awesome deals along the way. read more

Not sure if this place is closing but I went in and there was no one in sight. Usually there's someone watching the monitors at the entrance but this time there was no one and there's a bare empty space on the left of the entrance where the registers used to be. What will they do? Not sure as it's been like that for awhile. I wanted to ask about a phone screen protection but the only people I saw working were in customs service or geek squad with several people in line. The selection is very minimal and as I said the store is bare as in it either was ransacked or they're about to close because they did not have inventory or employees. Once upon a time, Best Buy used to be good with prices, selection and return policy. Well times have changed all that and I'm sure with the way this store is handling business they'll be closing soon for good. I like the fact that a physical store is accessible when you need a last minute purchase. 1. Same price as amazon Cameras were actually cheaper than online during sales. I bought camera bag and SD cards here. It costs the same as amazon, so it makes more sense to buy from here as it is more environmentally friendly not to use all those amazon boxes and don't need to wait for package. I liked that I could see the 4 different sizes in person instead of online, made purchase much easier. 2. Service: not good I always have trouble finding a person to ask something here. 3. Recycling: love that they have electronics recycling. For this alone, they deserve our business and we should support them. read more

Purchased a "lifetime" warranty for my phone from Best Buy - $50. When I went in to Best Buy to get the cracked glass replaced, I was informed that Best Buy doesn't carry the replacement glass any more. They refused to contact the manufacturer, essentially saying that I must do so. They refused to honor the warranty that had been purchased and were rude in the process. read more

AWFUL! I bought a large TV with a delivery "BUNDLE". The salesperson told me that it included delivery and set-up (I asked them specific questions about the set-up, so I know that they told me it was included in the BUNDLE). No mention of additional fees to set-up the TV. The delivery drivers came, took away my old TV and then just left. I have this HUGE box sitting in my living room. Had I been told that there was an extra fee to set up the TV, I would have NEVER purchased it. So now I don't have my old TV and there is just a huge box sitting in my living room. It is impossible to get in touch with customer service. My average wait times are almost an hour and sometimes they just answer and hang up. If I could give them a zero, I would! Terrible! read more

Ah the loves and screams at Best Buy. First off Best Buy please get rid of Citibank. They are the reason I dumped your credit card. This is a good location, but it can be extremely busy. That's due to the area, and I usually prefer the Fair Lakes one. Yet if here this works, and I do like your employees. Very good customer service. Parking can be a challenge here. Also be wary of the aggressive drivers. It's definitely not relaxing. As for stock, sometimes this store seems out, when you're looking for an item. It's not the end of the world, but it can be a slight inconvenience. Still I do think worth going to. It's clean and well organized. read more

Went for a quick pickup of an online order. One thing needed to be modified on the order- one hour and 5 minutes later, ended up cancelling entire order. The cashier /customer service clerk was having challenges with the MyTotalBestBuy account--- and the entire time, despite repeated requests- the manager failed to come over. Apparently Stefan Mcclinnahan was too busy to come over and help a customer with a larger purchase. If I could give zero stars I would. I wait in customer service line and once it was my turn they send me to mobile after waiting there for them to get a response. After waiting even more at mobile with only one person there helping a customer no one else is attending since no one is there. I just wanted to buy some stuff but on short time since I have to work very soon. Dislike going somewhere to spend money to not get service and leaving empty handed. Will be going to another place closer to home who will appreciate value customers. As the customers in front of her finished their purchase, a white lady walks up to the side of the sales associate & asks a question, wanting assistance. Instead of telling her to get in line, he handled her request, prioritizing her above the Asian woman waiting to actually buy an item. As near as I could tell, the white lady was never in line. She used white privilege to jump the line for her own benefit & the sales associate validated her white privilege by allowing it. The Asian woman actually bought the laptop bag after he was done answering the white lady's questions. He even laid the item the white lady wanted to buy on top of the Asian lady's purchase. This might be the worst Best Buy in America. I walk into this Best Buy to buy a $6 thumb drive. Simple task right? Wrong! First I walk in. When did Best Buys remove the checkout counter?!? Also, there were absolutely no employees in sight. Undeterred, I continue to search up and done this store for any storage device. They were impossible to find. I finally track down an employee. He says to me: "yea they're on a shelf right behind you" and walks away. Turns out, they were 3 aisles behind where I was standing, so excellent help from him. I finally find my $6 thumb drive and to my sheer amazement there is a security lock on this item. For those unfamiliar, this area of Virginia has to have one of the lowest crime rates around. Fed up, I rip the item's packaging to continue. My next mission: find the checkout counter. For some reason, this Best Buy only had 2 customer service registers, so I waltz over to stand in line to see if they could help me. One register opens and I begin walking over and ask if they are able to check me out. The guy at the register says "yes, but this other guy can help you" and he runs off. The guy in front of me is purchasing a TV and once the checkout is finally concluded the employee says "oh I have to go put this TV in his car I'll be right back." Since when were non-employees incapable of handling a TV?!? Finally he returns and rings me out. WHY DOES IT TAKE 25 MINUTES OF MY LUNCH BREAK TO BUY A $6 THUMB DRIVE?!?? read more

I bought a 65" Samsung TV ($1000) on Friday afternoon from the Tysons Corner Best Buy. I excitedly took it home, opened the box, and was shocked to see that the screen was broken! Took a photo of the broken screen in my house. I immediately called customer service. They said "no problem, just return it to the store." I returned it the next morning at 10am. The store manager refused to accept the return, because the screen was broken. WTH?? I showed him the photo of the broken screen at my house. He didn't care. And Best Buy customer service claims they can do nothing to help. This is the worst shopping experience I've ever had. So I'm out $1,000 for simply being a good customer. Went with my brother to pick up his Xbox series x special edition, and when we got there, we found out that they gave away his Xbox to somebody else and their best option was to tell us to wait for the next shipment for that model, even though we paid for it and they told us it was ready for pick up. The worse experience I ever had with customer service in this location. I bought a item from their web site I needed to return it , I went with the recommendation of their own customer service to return it at their store!! I had the receipt my iPhone and unopened item I didn't think I was going to be approached by this customer service woman starting to doubt my return and acting like I was trying to return an item that was not bought there even though I had all my receipt ! She started by scanning the barcode and saying this is not in our system I was shocked she was insisting on it!! I said ok let me do some more research I started chatting with Best Buy customer service once again they told me to go back, as I went back she was not behind the register there was a young man who took my return and had no problem with the bar code I got my credit!! She then came around and once again was going to even doubt the young man saying why it didn't scan for her ? Instead of apologizing to me that she wasted my time and the Best Buy's!! Being in client services myself for a life time I can say this woman was judgmental from the beginning before even trying her best to see why the bar code is not scanning instead she was trying to accuse me!! I see this kind of attitude more and more these days i think companies need to hire competent workers who are not going by their own bias toward customers and be professional! Because of the way this woman treated me I will never go back to that store in Leesburg pike they lost my business who is a local in the area for over 40 years! I came to return an item that I recently purchased from here and the clerks stated I was out of the return policy date; I said that I was fine with a store credit after I had returned 4 cords that were all wrong with recommendations from the store clerks. When I called customer service, I was told that the store manager could make an exception to refund the item considering I had finally purchased the right cord from this store. The manager was no help!! Very dismissive and recommended that I join a club for $69 a month in order to extend my returns valid through 60 days. Now I'm stuck with a cord that I have no use for. I will never visit this best buy again, and with such short return policy restrictions I may never visit best buy again. This was by far one of the worst experiences I've ever had. read more

I can't begin to write how frustrated and livid we are with not only this location, but Best Buy, in general. We purchased a big screen TV on 12/27/2020. A few days later a black line appeared on the screen. My husband called the Tysons store (where the purchase was made) and they said to just bring it in, they would verify the damage, and replace it. Great. So we load the TV back into the car (I tried to insist this was a pickup issue, but they refused) and he drives it to Best Buy. When he got there they REFUSED TO ACCEPT THE RETURN because of Covid. BS. Unfortunately, he had not gotten the person's name that told us to bring it to the store. So he asks them what he should do with the defective TV they had just sold us. They said THEY DIDN'T KNOW - MAYBE CALL CORPORATE. Seriously, people? So he did. After 2 HOURS of being passed around to multiple people, someone said they would send him a UPS label and we could return it that way. FIne, whatever. Now another kicker is this was an out of box purchase, so we didn't bring it home in a box. They assured us we wouldn't have to pay for packaging. Fine. So we lug the TV back to the house and unload it (waiting for the shipping label). A few days later, we load it BACK into the car (this is a 65" TV) and drive to UPS. We carry it into the store. They scan the label and say WE are responsible for packaging. Um, NO. Another HOUR on the phone, and passed around to four different people. We told the exact same story to EVERY single person. First person says "You never should have been given a return label; it probably would have been sent back to you b/c you didn't buy it online." Finally got passed from one person to another saying they could set up a pickup. Great! New person gets on phone, we had to explain the situation again, and she says she can't help us because we bought it in the store, not online. YOU HAVE GO TO BE KIDDING ME. She REFUSED to do anything for us. Nothing. My husband finally drove it back to the Best Buy store and said he would sit there until they took back the return. They finally did. This is ridiculous. What a joke and a waste. Your brand and company owe us an apology and more. I will be contacting any and all bureaus and places I can to discuss this asinine behavior. I came to this store today because I desperately needed to replace the iPhone that I've had for over five years. It's definitely seen it's share of abuse over the years, and the screen also has a crack in it. I have also been wanting to change back to Android. The place is awesome because of its sheer selection, and the have no shortage of cellphone options here at this store. The store also represents all of the major cellphone carriers which is a plus. However I decided to get the Samsung S22 unlocked phone. This is not the best or most expensive model, but it has plenty of functionality for my needs. The more difficult part of the buying process was trying to find an associate who was available and not already helping other customers. One employee from another department did stop to take the time and asked me if I needed help but that was the extent of good service here today. This was expected though. Was let to believe the price was as labeled only to find out that it was almost %50 more at the register. Went to talk to a Dyson representative. My Dyson (DC14) would not click upright and only the hose was activated. I took my vacuum cleaner to Best buy where there was a Dyson representative. John was working on Sunday and he was amazing. He fixed it right away and my Dyson is now more powerful than ever! It's like brand new again. He was very quick too! He also fully demonstrated how to troubleshoot in the future and how to clean and keep it clean. So helpful and easy to talk to!! He is definitely an expert with anything Dyson related. I also inquired about a potential ventilation system for litter boxes and although Dyson doesn't have something specifically for that, John was very helpful with suggestions and ideas to try. Best Buy, I have contacted you many times over the phone. I initially submitted my computer to your Geek Squad tech team and bought the total tech subscription on 12/20. I thought my repair was going to be an easy one, but they could not repair it at the store and sent it to another location. It was lost in the mail until 1/1 I called several times during the 12 days it was gone to figure out its status. By 1/5 it was obvious that the computer was not going to be fixed, the techs were simply going to replace every part until it started working. Did anyone try an EEPROM flash? I requested the return of my computer and it was lost in the mail AGAIN and I am calling 1/15. I have been on hold for hours and spoken to 5 people. No one can resolve my problem. I can think of a real quick solution. Give me my computer back or give me the money it would take to buy a Dell Aurora R8. You are responsible for losing my computer. You ought to make this right. I was doing a big home theater project - installing a new 77" OLED tv and relocating a 65" OLED tv. I had it in my mind that I was going to wall mount them both. Because I wasn't sure exactly what I needed, I purchased the following: Two $200 wall mounts (one in store and one online) 1 HDMI cable $70 (in store) I realized immediately after mounting the 77" tv that I did not need the new HDMI cable - my old one was longer than I thought and the same HDMI 2.1 standard. So, I went to best buy to return the HDMI cable TWO HOURS after I bought it. The guy at the return desk goes, "Did you open this?" I told him no, I just bought it two hours ago and hadn't even taken it out of the bag. Then he shows me, surprise, it is not sealed and has been opened before. Then he opens it to begin inspecting it. Um.... Why did you SELL me an open item if you're going to be like that? Shouldn't you have exercised this level of care before you let me walk out of the store with it. The disturbing thing is that someone could have stolen the cable out of there, replaced it with something cheaper, or any other number of problems that were not my fault. Anyway, they took the return but made me feel like a criminal in the process. The next day, while trying to wall mount my 65" TV, I realized that the mount was not going to fit the TV and the space (stud widths were weird in the other room), so I brought the wall mount purchased online back to return. Now the crazy thing about this is that Best Buy shipped me the wall mount in the exact same box you would buy at the store. They didn't pack it in a shipping box with any padding. It showed up on my door step as if someone had just bought it at the store and tossed it at my house. The box was somewhat mangled and, again, IT HAD NO SEAL AND LOOKED LIKE IT HAD BEEN OPEN. So I get to the return desk and immediately a different person (it's not just one guy) goes, "Did you open this box?" And I lost it at that point. I was like listen dude you guys shipped me this mangled, open box. I did not open it and it is completely shady that you are sending out products like this and then accusing customers of opening them. He opened it anyway to examine any damage or theft I may have caused! This will be the last time I ever purchase products from Best Buy in-store or online. Treated like a criminal and could have easily received a product that had been tampered with or more likely previously used! Shameful. read more

Booking this serious took time to schedule. The tech show up 30 minutes late after I waited 2 hours (8-10am slot). The Smart Home setup I requested was connect my Verizon internet to Ruckus, setup Ring, thermostat and smart appliances to my phone. This was my first time using the Best Buy Geek Squad to do any work and I was surprised and delighted with the experience. The crew, led by John Manis, was the hardest working crew I've had the pleasure of working with. They were professional, friendly, and went above and beyond to insure my project was completed to my satisfaction. The level of communication by Best Buy and the team throughout this process was outstanding. My project was an upgrade of a 12 year old home theater setup which included a new receiver, projector, and installing four ceiling mounted speakers for ATMOS to add to the existing 7.1 configuration. I used Angie's List to connect with some local service providers and got some quotes on the work. I stopped by my closest Best Buy at Tysons Corner in Vienna, VA to visit the Magnolia Home Theater and compare projectors and speaker configurations. I met Sean and he demonstrated the various combinations I asked for and asked if I'd like to engage the Geek Squad for a free consultation. I had not settled on a vendor so I agreed and gave Sean my information and setup an appointment. I was contacted by Michael Cronauer, In-Home Advisor who stopped by a few days later to look at the project and give me a proposal. Michael's questions and suggestions conveyed a deep level of expertise and the quote was very reasonable so I moved forward with the having the Geek Squad do the work and ordered all the materials except for the new receiver from Michael. We made the appointment for the install and received confirmation from Best Buy and a few days before the date received another confirmation as well as a phone call from John Manis who's team was going to do the install. John and team showed up as scheduled and put in a very long day installing the gear. The task was complicated by having to install four ceiling speakers in a basement theater as well as run new HDMI and CAT6. As their final task they installed two more speakers upstairs having to cut through a plaster ceiling. Michael followed a few days after the install to see how it went. Very nice touch. There was one small task that they were unable to complete that day but John and Justin came by the following Saturday and terminated the CAT5/6 cables for the projector. The project has exceeded my expectations and I love the new 4K Epson projector and 7.1.4 ATMOS setup with my Marantz SR8012 receiver. The biggest surprise has been just how professional the entire team was and the level of communication via email, text, phone, and the Best Buy app all working as one to keep me informed every step of the way. Truly impressive. This experience has encouraged me to use the Best Buy iOS app more often, especially since it supports Apple Pay for purchases in the app. I've since made a purchase that otherwise would have been on Amazon (which does not accept Apple Pay). Bought $700 worth of peripherals Wednesday with a next day delivery promise (February 18, 2021). One item arrived and I received a notification that the rest of the order would arrive by MARCH 4TH!!! An Apple keyboard and mouse and a wireless headset. I think I'll return the other item now, on them. Jerks. Okay, no big deal, as see I could pick up the items at the store in one hour. I am on hold now for over 1 hour waiting to get the cancellation processed. Apparently the agent helping me isn't authorized to make a simple cancellation. I suspect I am being punished for not wanting to be gamed with their delivery scam. I spend thousands at Best Buy every year. NOT ONE MORE PENNY THERE. NOT ONE. Too many good retailers to buy from. Terrible service at this location. Instead of shipping my repair out, like they did at the Potomac Yard location with no hassle, their Geek Squad played dumb and rudely dismissed me - even with an appointment for repair. Pretty mind-blowing stuff and I will hopefully never have to do business here (or attempt to!!) ever again. Shameful and shameless. read more
