Thought I would swing by to price a wireless router so I don't get ripped off by Verizon for the new internet service (see my TWC post written earlier this week). As I walked towards the door I was very suddenly and very violently hit with the urge to find the nearest facility. I immediately asked the front employee on sentinel duty where the restrooms were. "All the way in the back". Of course. I duck-waddled my way there in a panic as the back of the store seemed to run away from me. The distance seemed to increase the faster I ran. When I got there I saw a Fort-Knox style keypad on the door and a sign stating to please ask for assistance. NOOOOoooo! Now one thing I don't like about Best Buy is that you walk in to buy an overpriced phone charger and you have to dodge 15 blue-clad wolves trying to ensure you've found everything you need. Certainly not this day. There were two employees within the 200 yard radius of the restroom. One was seriously engaged with an older Hispanic couple as they tried to put together the best home computer, and another was painfully slowly applying a protective sheet on a mom's new iPad as she tried to control her bratty kids. No help here. I asked someone near the front and was told that an employee in computers would be happy to help. Thanks, but I have already thought of that on the way to you. Fortunately my wife, just as annoyed as I was, pinned down an associate to lead me back to the bathroom. I think she had to actually tackle someone trying to escape being noticed by a customer and physically pin him down like a lioness on a gazelle. My wife's a bad-ass. The employee led me back on the long, long walk to the restroom and it felt like I was in 3rd grade and I had just had an accident. I swear, I almost reached out to hold his hand. When we finally arrived, he guarded the code to the restroom like it was where he kept his diary. He positioned his shoulder in front of the pad and even stole a quick glance to see if I was trying to peek. No time for cynical comment now, as finally I was let in. It was indeed a photo-finish, people. Crisis averted, the rest of my trip to Best Buy continued to unimpress. I waited and finally got the usual Best Buy non-answers from the "iPad mechanic" and I left there feeling let down, humiliated, frustrated, and yet a little less queasy. I couldn't help but stop on the way out and tell the front employee on guard that it would have been extremely helpful to tell me I would need help getting into the restroom instead of just pointing me in the direction. After all, people don't go to Best Buy solely to use the bathroom, so I must have needed it pretty badly to ask for it immediately. Said employee reverted to the "angry old guy complaining at me better say as little as possible until he goes away" mode and blankly looked forward nodding. I really hope I never need to visit this particular place again. If I do, I'll be sure to hit the bathroom at home before my journey begins. read more

Waiting for over 20 mins for help seems that know one is in the store shopping ... Now I know why... It seems the employees are all looking at there watches - but not helping anyone. I would go to a different store ... But don't have time thanks Best Buy the worst store in the DMV! read more

the 4 stars is for the floor manager Matt who walked me through exchanging and upgrading a defective LG Roku SmartTV i had purchased in February. He literally spent an hour going through all the rigamarole of finding my previous purchase, upgrading my information, explaining to me the difference in TVs and getting everything in order. There was another associate in the TV section who was very helpful too (Chris? i think?) but he was called away on another issue but was helpful too. I went at 11 am on a Monday and i think that was wise since i could tell if i hadn't had the luck of getting these guys to help me, i would be been writing a different review. I think if you treat people who work there like you would want to be treated, you will get helped. If you act like a jerk, you wont. It's a two way street and I was fortunate to be on the end of great customer service. Moving forward, i plan on only dealing with these guys or another manager. Another associate was way unfamiliar with the return policy and i had to correct her (eg-told i had to pay 15 bucks for a haul-away fee for my defective tv to be picked up when they were to deliver the replacement upgrade) that wasnt true as i verified on the phone prior to coming into the store. I wouldnt have known that i didnt have to pay a haul-away fee if i hadn't done my research prior to coming in. the stars are for the helpfulness of Matt. Waited at the camera section for about 20 minutes (that included the 15 minutes we were told someone would come right away to help us). Very small selection and store empty; staff walking around aimlessly. Does not look like BB cares about selling anything. read more

I started waiting in line at 6:45 to get a replacement phone under my Best Buy warranty. I finally got out at 9:15 (2 1/2 hours later) with a temporary phone because they do not have iphones in stock. I will now have to go back in a few weeks and waste more time to get an actual replacement. A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME!!!! I will never buy a warranty (or phone) from them again! read more

Bypass this store if you need to be treated like a paying customer. DO NOT buy an open boxed item from these people. I saw an open boxed washing machine on the floor. I wasn't even looking to purchase but it was a good price. The salesperson told me he couldn't set up a delivery at that time because of a system glitch and would call me. They never called me. I went back to the store twice over the course of weeks and finally they setup a delivery. The missed the first deliver - saying the washing machine never got on the transfer truck to the central warehouse. They missed the second delivery - saying the cross dock at the central warehouse was missed. The delivery person called and told me they had the machine but would not deliver and setup because it was missing a leg (which it had when I saw it) and that, in his opinion, the product was damaged in a way that it probably would not work. Never mind that it was dented on the front bottom and not on the working mechanisms. I was told by customer service (after speaking to three different reps and one complaint escalation person) that these products are quality assurance checked before putting back on the floor if damaged open box sales. The complaint escalation person promised me she would get to the bottom of it and I NEVER HEARD FROM HER AGAIN. Finally I cancelled the order and received NOTHING except an "I'm sorry for your frustration." read more

Went in this store about a month ago to drop a couple Gs on some home theater equipment. Was ready to hand them my credit card. I stood around for about 15 minutes and watched most of the employees play grabazz with one another and yell a bunch of street trash. I was in this store with 2 other customers. There were at least 12 employees on the floor. As I walked out in disgust, the guy asked if I found everything OK. I told him about my experience. The ghetto dude I talked to stared at me for a moment and said, "Well, I get you some help, now"! I told him they had their chance; I'd be giving my money to a competitor. read more

I went here to buy a replacement charger for my apple laptop, but no one in the store was able to tell me where I could find one, let alone whether they even had them in stock. I finally managed to find one on my own only to get home and find the charger was defective. They let me exchange it for another, but it was not a pleasant experience. read more

On Saturday, March 3, 2018, I walked to this Best Buy location in Wheaton. I have stopped by here many times & had nothing short of a most pleasant & helpful experience. This day however the greeter by the name Ibraham took it upon himself to insult & demand me to remove my trash out of the trash can that clearly many others have used. It was quiet windy this day & I was later informed that the recycle & trash bins were moved inside because the kept getting blown over. I had a few empty water bottles & a few trash items with me, I disposed of the empty water bottles into the recycle bins & my trash in the trash bin right next to it. I had not even stepped into the store yet when Ibraham, in a very abrasive tone said "take your trash out that's not a trash can!" I was completely shocked & in disbelief that I was even being addressed in such manner. I looked at him & said excuse me? He repeat himself in a more aggressive tone "take your trash out now there's a trash can behind me". I said there's clearly trash here already how is this not a trash can? He proceed take your "trash out now I will not repeat myself, I did not catch anyone else thrown trash there but I caught you". I was so incredibly upset that I told him to have a great day & left the store. Mid way out the building I could not justify what had just happened. I came in to do a simple return & considered my drive to the College Park location. I came back in & decided this is not right & I refuse to get bullied out of a store because Ibraham is having a moment. I walked back in & asked to speak to a manager. No manager was available so I was told to wait for Guillermo. I proceeded to continue the point of my visit which was to do a return. While in the process I mentioned to the cashier that I need to speak to a manager when we were done. He very politely asked what happened & I explained. A co-worker asked what the problem was & he said Ibraham was extremely rude to her & co-worker mentioned "Oh whats new". This is extremely discouraging to hear that this a a known issue & nothing has been done about this. I would hope this doesn't go unread & most importantly not addressed with this individual & you should really reconsidered what position he fits best in at this location. My suggest is NOT a greeter. A greeter should be welcoming, pleasant & eager to help. I shouldn't feel like I am walking into a boxing ring to make a purchase or return an item. I patiently waited for Guillermo to become available as he was dealing with a customer issue. While waiting I can her Ibraham telling a co-worker about the incident. There is no professionalism in this individual. I can clearly hear everything & for the one that was so wrong in the situation he told his story very proudly. Finally, I spoke with Guillermo who was empathetic & provided information on how to contact the GM while on vacation. read more

The customer service was horrible here. When I attempted to return a broken product that fell apart the first time I used it, they refused to accept it because it was outside of the return period. They accused me of breaking the product myself and were incredibly rude and dismissive. You couldn't pay me to go back there. The geek squad guy was also fairly idiotic and really slow. read more

please do not use the wheaton, md best buy to have a radio installed you will get ripped off!!!!! purchased a radio for my husband for father's day, the following week made an appointment to have the geek squad install the radio. an hour into the installation received a phone call that they can not complete the install due to the fact there is an airvent blocking so radio will not be flush against the dash. he then proceeded to tell us that sometimes with this model car you have that problem. he then stated that bestbuy does not do customization work of this type. fine we said will come and pick up the car. upon arrival to pick up the car we were then told we were still going to be charged $200 even though the radio was not installed. i requested to see the manager because as the customer the technician should have informed us regarding the issue of the air vent on this model vehicle prior to the install. secondly, the manager kept insisting because they installed the wiring that it was complete. the manager was perplexed as he was not certain what to do with regards to us being charged $200. i have since sent numerous emails to the store manager, district manager, corporate, geek squad, etc. i have yet to receive a response or my refund!!!! how can they justify charging $200 for an incomplete installation??? needless to say we had to take the vehicle to a local radio installation business who was able to install the radio with no problem and charged us $160 even with the customizations! i will never purchase another item or use geek squad services again!!!! read more

wonderful shopping experience. The sales associates were ready to help, went in there looking for a 32" tv with 1080p and was shown where to look. I would recommend this store to anyone who wants to test their electronics before purchasing. Don't ever go away Best Buy. read more

Worst Best Buy Ever. Period. I used to work at best buy (different location) and I can safely say that the customer service here is just awful. Like the worst. I could type a 12 page diatribe detailing how this location wasted days (not hours... days) of my time, how their incompetence cost me $200 in savings if I just would've gone somewhere else, and how none of the sales associates know anything about the products they sell or the promotions that they are running. When they don't know the answer to a question (which is pretty much all questions) they'll just make stuff up and tell you what you want to hear so you will leave them alone. Not to mention that they don't answer the phone and when they do they put you on hold only to hang up on you or they tell you they will call you back but never do. Don't. Just don't. Go somewhere else, anywhere else. Doesn't matter what you are buying, don't buy it here. Your welcome. read more

I have been a loyal customer of BB for years, however the service at this particular store has been getting worse with each visit. Visited the other day with my brother to buy some electronics, as on my recommendation we had decided to purchase these items from BB instead of a rival outlet store - big mistake! We needed a member of staff to assist with a few questions we had about the range on offer so went looking for someone. It got so bad we split up to expedite our search for one helpful staff member, only for one of cashiers to direct my brother to someone called 'Chris' (who we NEVER found btw). Basically spent almost 20 minutes trying to find a member of staff to help. I was baffled, as I looked around and saw many other bemused patrons probably facing our predicament. In the end we asked for a manager, only to be told that 'they are all busy'. Amazing - it's like they were actually trying to refuse our patronage! Needless to say I guess we''l be heading back to the rival outlet now. read more

I was sold an iPhone the sales person could not activate. When I wanted to return it just a half hour later since it couldn't be activated (they sold it to me with no sim card which Sprint said should never have happened) they said I had to pay for a $35 restocking fee! This is not to mention the fact that they told me Sprint had no discounts for signing contracts (wrong!), that all iPhones come with no sim cards these days (huh??) etc. The sales person basically had no idea how a cell phone was sold and activated. At some point in the process I asked him what happens if somebody walked in with no phone and wanted to buy an iPhone (since he told me the phone came with no sim card and I had to use the one from my old phone). He got stumped and then said they would tell the customer to go to a carrier's store instead. That should have been my last and final clue that these guys had no idea what they were doing. Note to self ... always check the ratings of a business before hand for big purchases. I know most other Best Buy stores are not as horrible but this particular store seems to be one of the exceptions. read more
