Came in to return a laptop from another store. Was told it would cost me to get someone in the shop to reset it, so I did it on my own. The very nice woman who was at the cash register plugged up the laptop and let me reset it, which took a while. The Man at the door watched my laptop while I went to use the bathroom and then walked around because the reset was taking a while. The woman at the computer section was very nice and patient, answering my questions while I looked for a nother laptop. I ended up exchanging laptops, and the whole process was seemless. I rarely leave reviews, but my recent experience at Best Buy was so unprofessional that it deserves to be called out. The lack of customer service skills, accountability, and basic consistency with their own published policies was honestly unbelievable. The employees I interacted with seemed more focused on shutting down questions than actually helping. Instead of listening or trying to resolve the issue, they spoke over me, dismissed what was on the website, and then proceeded to invent policies on the spot -- policies that directly contradicted what BestBuy.com clearly states. When I pulled up the information on their website and showed it to them, they still insisted on their "in-store policy," but couldn't point to anything written, official, or even logical. It felt like they were improvising excuses instead of providing service. That's not professionalism -- that's laziness and a complete lack of training. If Best Buy expects customers to take their brand seriously, the very least they could do is ensure their staff follows the same rules listed on their own website. When I shop at a brick-and-mortar store, my solitary expectation is to have an item in hand more quickly than I would if ordering delivery. This store now keeps shelves bare. They require a customer to scan a code and place an order online, from inside the store, and then wait on an associate to find and fetch the item from their inventory. And oops, they swapped their QR codes, so I ordered the wrong item and had to try again. I typed this review forty-five minutes into my attempt at a run-in-run-out purchase, as I spent most of the time waiting on an associate to search their stock. Dropped off our pc for repair 1st off charged a $100 diagnose fee which is ridiculous to start with at the White Marsh Best Buy store in Baltimore Maryland area. I received the AirPods Max for Christmas, however the wall plug did not come with the gift. Best Buy is close to me than the Apple Store so I decided to go. Great place & location. Friendly staff greeted me at the entrance & I was asked if I found everything I needed which I did quickly. Store wasn't crowded and is clean and usually well stocked. If I can't find an item or not in stock the customer service staff will look in computer system for a close store that may have it or possibly order it online. I've been to this location numerous times and have never had an issue. If I had to leave a reason for my 4/5 & give feedback to improve I'd say to hire & properly train the cashiers at front of the store to expedite checkout. Although certain items can be rung up in other locations sometimes those "specialty " departments are busy with customers requiring customers to pay at the front registers. I will state I've had positive experience in computer department on several occasions with different trained staff-don't recall all their names at this time. Each time was not for a computer. Once an I-watch as gift, then recommendation for a protective cover for the watch, & other charger needed for travel gift. That all said I had a quick trip today & found what I wanted and checked out quick. All with friendly service-a plus! I stopped by this store on Sunday December 15th to pick up a surface pro with keyboard bundle deal that was for that weekend only. It was for 1 specific model which is what I went in for. I stopped by that evening after work after confirming online that they still had a couple left. When I got to the store I told the rep what I was looking for and he confirmed that they did have it. The rep grabbed the device and rang me out. Quick and painless. It was a Christmas so I went home and wrapped it and didn't think anything of it until later after Christmas when it was opened. Turns out that the rep only sold me the surface pro and not the bundle. I assumed the keyboard was already in the box since it was large enough to encompass a keyboard as well as the surface pro. So anyway I now have the computer without the keyboard. I contacted customer care and they instructed me to go back to the store where I purchased it. So I stopped by today after work with hopes that someone would be able to help me. I was greeted by the GM Trong or Trang something along those lines and she seemed like I was inconveniencing her from the very beginning. I was friendly and calm when first dealing with her despite her despondent stare and complete lack of empathy for my situation. She basically told me since she had no real way to verify that that's what I came in to purchase since the rep didn't ring me out properly. Common sense would tell you that is exactly what I came in for since I came in on the last day of the sale, purchased the exact model that was part of the deal, and paid the promo pricing. Why would I pay a promo price on a surface pro alone when I could get the keyboard with it for no additional money. And of course the original rep that helped me wasn't working today nor did she offer to reach out to see if that's what actually occurred. A gentleman from the Geek Squad came over and tried to offer an alternate solution but unfortunately it wasn't viable. She said the best she could do for me was sell me a keyboard at a discounted price. Why should I have to pay extra for something I had already paid for? I asked if she could just damage it out of inventory but she said that wasn't an option. I work in retail sales and I know that there are ways to zero out items especially accessories. I wasn't even offered a store credit. I told her that this wasn't an option and I shouldn't have to pay for the mistake of one of her employees. She told me that we were at an impass and nothing else can be done. This did not sit well with me so I became loud and demanded multiple times that she give me what I paid for. She told someone to call the cops so I cussed at her and left. Could I have handled myself better? Yes. Am I proud of how I acted? No. But I was furious at the complete lack of empathy on her part. If this is the type of person that Best Buy wants representing them they should do some serious reevaluating. I can honestly say I don't think I have ever had a worse in store experience. I have been a loyal Best Buy customer for over 20 years and have purchased all my electronics and appliances from them but after today I don't think I will ever make another purchase from them ever again. Their "Open Box" sales options are very misleading, I was interested in a OLEM TV at this store, the condition of the item was listed as "Minor to moderate cosmetic signs of use possible." Naturally I wanted to know if it was more minor than moderate and what the possible damage was. I tried to call the store but apparently you can't do that. Finally a phone support rep told me that no additional information is available on the item than what is listed. You can drive to the store but they will not show you the item before you buy it. This place could be good, but I am always disappointed when I leave. They never seem to have anything in stock that I am looking for, and I'm not looking for anything out of the ordinary. Went there once looking for an iPad and the one I wanted was, of course, out of stock. They did offer to order it online for me, but that wasn't going to work because I needed it that day. Went there on another occasion to get a Apple Watch band and the section with the bands was decimated. Almost nothing in stock! On a third occasion I went there for a Kindle and of course, sold out! I was charged twice for a $700 purchase; I was told specifically before my card was ran the second time that my money would be automatically be out back into my account; this was incorrect. I purchased a water cooling system for my computer (Corsair H60) online, which comes with the thermal paste pre-applied. When I received the box, it was not shrink wrapped, but I thought nothing of it. When I came home and opened the box, it was clearly used. The components were not in bags, the warranty manual was missing, and the quick start guide was rolled up with smudges on it. The part that made it incredibly clear this was previously used was the thermal paste. It was not a uniform square as it should be, but rather smudged around the bottom of the heat block, which clearly shows it had be placed on a CPU then removed. Either Best Buy intentionally sold a used product as new or someone returned their old part after keeping the new one. In the latter case, Best Buy seriously needs better quality control. Wasted 2 hours of driving time as well. Bottom line: pay very close attention to what you get from Best Buy as they may very likely sell you something used when you are expecting something new. read more

Just experienced great customer service from Gerald, James and Danni on a phone purchase. I stopped by the Rosedale location but when I was not receiving the level of service needed, I came to White Marsh. Gerald immediately greeted me and went over the current plan promptions and phone options. I'm very indecisive when making long term purchases so James went through the pros and cons of each phone. Danni assisted me with choosing the right plan to accommodate my needs. All of the gentlemen were very patient as I probably asked a million questions. I was in the store for over 3 hours and they were very helpful (James even offered me a donut because he saw how long I was waiting). Now I have a great phone that I love! Great job guys! read more

I purchased a computer January 9, 2021. I was told it would ship to the store for pick up. I went to the store on January 12th to inquire about this purchase. I was told by customer service that it would ship to my home address. I tracked it via UPS. The item had a "hazmat" issue and was returned. I can no longer get information via Best Buy or UPS. I've been letting this review marinade inside me for a few weeks and today seemed like the time to pop it in the oven. As I stated in a previous review of Best Buy ... it's one of my favorite places to shop. I have bought thousands of dollars worth of merchandise there and continue to do so. Which leads to bad customer service, unhappy customers, and loss of loyalty. The ironic part of my tale is that it occurs because of a customer loyalty program. On with the story ... As a LOYAL Best Buy customer, I enrolled in Best Buy RewardZone. It's a frequent purchaser program that tallies up points for Dollars. Every dollar spent earns you a point and every 250 points earned rewards you with a $5 certificate. After years of amassing points I printed a handful of aforementioned certificates and headed to the White Marsh Best Buy to pick up O.A.R.'s new released Live at Red Rocks DVD. I arrive. Great parking spot. I walk in ... Greeted with a friendly "How are you today sir?" B line for the live music DVDs ... One copy left! Price tag on this bad boy was $19.99 ... Just so happen to have a $20 certificate!! Things couldn't get any better!!! AND THEN I walk up front to get in line (on a Saturday night at 7:30) and there are only two registers open. WAIT, one register. She just turned her light off. Three people in front of me. No big deal. I'm a patient man. During the next 10 minutes I must have saw no less than 15 employees doing everything else imaginable, except responding to those of us waiting in line. Finally I get to the register. The cashier (40ish white quirky man) scans the DVD and gives me the total of $21.18. I hand over my RewardZone fake chedda' of $20. THEN .. it just gets ridiculous. "SIR, I CAN'T ACCEPT THIS" says the cashier in his Rain Man like loud voice. "THE CERTIFICATE HAS TO BE MORE THAN THE SUB-TOTAL" he adds ($19.99). Maaaan, he spit on me. I just looked him dead in the eye, paused for 10 seconds, and said "seriously??". When he confirmed that indeed he was serious, I proceeded to look for the cheapest item within 25 feet and may have been cursing while I was doing it. At one point I asked him if they sold anything that costs 1-5 cents. He was not amused and called a manager over to resolve this impossible situation. Now I realize I'm a tad bit crazy but I assumed that a member of management could come up with a resolution to our penny dilemma. I'm afraid not. When I left that night, my bag consisted of my new DVD as well as a $1.30 mini can of Pringles. This was after my suggestions of overriding the system or charging me a penny more for the DVD were dismissed as "Not Possible". It never ceases to amaze me, the lack of common sense that lives among us. Just waiting to attack! The final slap in the face.... The Pringles were stale. read more

Today on Black Friday I was shopping for a tablet for my wife and was waiting for someone to help me for almost 30 minutes when the electronics manager came up to me and offered to help me. I told her I was interested in the new ASUS tablet and the portable docking port that turns the tablet into a Net Book. The floor manager ran around the the computer department gathering all the individual components for my purchase and then brought it to the Geek Squad and asked them to rush it. DO NOT SHOP AT THIS BEST BUY. I bought a washing machine for this best buy. It was to be delivered today 1/4/2022, I received an email around noon stating the delivery would be late. The email had a phone number to call, I called and the rude man on the other end told me due to whether they would not deliver my washer for 10 to 12 days. I told him this was unacceptable. He said I could cancel the order; I told him I wanted a cash refund so that I could go buy the washer at Lowes which will price match. The rude man on the phone told me to go to the store for a cash refund. At the store, I met Chris, the useless manager who informed me that he could do nothing for me on the delivery and since I paid with a debit card, he could not give me the cash and it would take 3 to 5 business days to get a refund on my card. Chris, the useless manager, also informed me he could not start the refund until 24 hours after the delivery was scheduled. So here I am, no refund and no washer. BEST BUY has my money, and the washer and I have nothing. BEST BUY has my money and will not give it back. They took the money in 2 seconds from my bank no problem. Best Buy can't keep their end of the deal because they don't have the product that they sell, but they took my money. I can only hope Amazon puts BEST BUY out of business like so many others. I purchased a $170 Xbox elite 2 Controller for my son. He immediately noticed that one of the buttons was not working quite right. I thought maybe it was just him but the problem continued to get worse. Today I went to exchange the controller at Best Buy a little over 30 days after it was purchased and they refused to take it back telling me that I had to deal with Microsoft. I bought a television at Best Buy and paid Geek Squad to install it on the wall. The installer told me to buy a longer cable at the store as the one we had was not long enough. The installer did not wait for my husband to get back so the job of "hiding the cords" was not completed. He did hang the tv on the wall, but when putting in the switch plate, left a gap between the wall and the switch plate, which the senior community I live in is telling me this is a code violation. I called Best Buy's to inform them and was on hold and transferred to 3 different numbers. All in all, the 1 1/2 hours spent on the phone, I finally reached someone to come out and complete the job correctly. They scheduled me for service only to cancel the next day as they did not have someone in the area. Now I have to wait 5 days until "maybe" someone comes out to correct the mistake. So NO, I will no longer shop at Best Buys or ever use Geek Squad again!!! read more

Pretty bad experience, in fact one of many. I was set to make a $800 plus purchase on one of the new iPad pros. They had zero availability in the model I was after. No information was made available in regard to any options or alternatives I may have. I understand supply chains and how the popularity of certain products affects availability but would expect that that if I walk into a location with cash in hand ready to make a purchase that it shouldn't be a problem. This is one instance of many that illustrates how Best Buy and this location in general fails to compete in the online market. There have been several occasions like this where I walk in to make a purchase, have to educate the sales associate on the product I am looking to purchase and walk out empty handed despite the product being advertised as available at this location. I was able to make my purchase online with another vendor with no issues. I can see why Best Buy is a dinosaur failing to keep up in a modern retail economy. This has been the BIGGEST mistake I've made buying electronics since I was last in this store years ago and a bunch of GEEK squad "techs" installed a car stereo that when I picked up my new car would no longer turn off, I would remove the key and it kept running! I returned to let them CORRECT THEIR MISTAKE and when I got the car back again now the radio would not automatically turn on with the ignition and after enough of this fiasco left to go to Koons Chevrolet but not before I had the installation manager sign my papers stating what they did to me! When I got to the dealership they showed me what looked like a bird had been gathering wires and was building a nest! BB did NOTHING to try and remedy this nightmare! Unfortunately at the time with severe medical conditions facing me my lawyer said that with all that was going on in my life this wasn't worth my physical and emotional well being to pursue this and continue throwing money away! I AM A FOOL for having given BB a second chance except for my sales rep named Noah who I'm sure won't be staying around like most of your employees because he is so personable and has been the ONLY thing that has kept me from going "crazy" in BB! This new nightmare has been going on for over a month and now instead of trying to work this out in the store I'm going to corporate! Does anyone know a number where I can start, someone who is at least an east coast director over these stores! TERRIBLE. I have experienced nothing but problems dealing with this store. The customer service is very distasteful to say the least and the managers that are around and on duty aren't looking to resolve any actual problems. They were more concerned with getting me out the door and passing the issue on to the next than actually fixing the problem.
