Do not work with this company under any circumstance, you will regret it…read more Tim McFarland is the owner of old school flooring and he's incredibly unprofessional and rude. 1. He got into a huge argument with the painters that were also at the house working. He offended the owner of the painting company so bad that they almost quit and left. 2. He finished our flooring and upon final walk-thru we find our toilets in the bath in both bathrooms. It took over an hour of stressful back and forth negotiating to get him to put the toilets back. 3. We recently had plumbing issues and found out Tim had covered up the trap door with flooring. This cost us an additional $2000 to get specialty plumbers and equipment to gain access to the trap door and fix our plumbing. 4. We let Tim know this and asked if he could come back and fix the hole using the left over flooring. Since he already has the equipment and know-how, it would save us having to spend hundreds $ more paying another flooring company to come out and do it. Tim refused to come and fix his mistake. His reasoning is that since we didn't tell him NOT to cover up the trap door, it is our responsibility now to fix it.

Danny's a nice guy, but his results suffer from lack of attention to detail…read more We hired him and his two helpers to pull up old rugs and scrape up old linoleum and then re-sand and finish our hardwood floors. They also replaced some old boards, inlaid some new wood where there hadn't been any, added 'transitions' between surfaces and filled the cracks between boards. He did a great job removing the old stuff and with the patching and transitions. But he rushed the sanding and staining. There were hundreds of little scratches from the belt sander along the walls and obvious blotchiness from the application of the stain. We had to move in anyway because we had no alternative. But Danny was willing to talk and was eager to stand by his work. We showed him the problems -- he started by blaming the botchiness on the wood, but after we walked around with him and pointed out the dozens of areas where there were either sander scratches or streakiness of stain, he corrected himself and admitted they had rushed the job after the linoleum scraping took more time than he had budgeted. So Danny agreed to redo the floors. And a week later, we moved out again (Danny and his guys helped us carry the furniture). They re-sanded, stained and sealed. The belt sander scratches were removed entirely. The blotchiness was notably reduced (we still feel the stain application could have been less sloppy, but the imperfections are less obvious). The second time around they also apparently did not take the time to cover all the set nails (in some rooms there are many visible nail heads and in others there are virtually none) or fill in the cracks again. It has been 3 months and there are noticeable gaps between many of the boards. PROS: Nice guy. Good at removal of old material. Excellent ability to patch and inlay new wood to match old wood. Wants to stand by his work. CONS: Bad at time management. Carelessness in some aspects of work. Lack of attention to detail even on second try.

Joyful! This is one word to describe Sal, his crew, and the work they do…read more a) They do great work with attention to detail, schedules, consideration, preparation, and cleaning up. See the pictures for the awesome job they did. b) Great attitude. Sal and his team answer every question with respect and explain what they're doing without making you feel you're a bother. They assure you on what still needs to be done and have a can-do attitude, i.e. when there are setbacks or things unexpected (even when caused by other contractors), they figure out a clean solution with an enthusiastic and happy demeanor. c) Friendliness and timeliness. You'll have a smile on your face when they're around. Their joy is infectious and you hear happy sounds rather than cursing and grumbling. The guys sing along, high-five, whoop and celebrate and it's all genuine. Gabe is always the smiling face early in the morning, and when my son was visiting, he remarked that he couldn't believe how high-energy and cheerful they are throughout the day. d) They were asked at the last minute to fill in for another contractor on the baseboards, and boy am I glad they did! I would never, ever let anyone else touch my wood floors, and if I ever needed to do floors again [which I won't, since this floor is as close to perfection as I can imagine], I would only hire SB Flooring. I'm so happy they were brought into my whole house remodel. They made me happy after the headaches from the previous crews. Sal promised me I'd be happy at the beginning of the job, and even though they're not finished, I'm happy to write this review because I will always remember their flooring work as the bright spot in my big project. He was quick to respond, even though it was right around the end-of-year holidays, and was able to get out to the property promptly to assess what needed to be done. Throughout the entire process, he was communicative, transparent, and professional, keeping me in the loop on every step and any requirements for the repair. Since I don't live at the condo, I really appreciated how easy he made everything. He coordinated the work smoothly, did a great job with the repairs and paint, and left everything looking clean and polished. The pricing felt fair and affordable, especially given the quality of the work and the level of service. It's rare to find someone who is reliable, responsive, and consistently delivers great results, but Zee has proven that twice now. Used these guys a second time. (different home) This time for a much larger area of wood flooring…read more Plus some beautiful ceramic tile in kitchen, laundry room and 4 bathrooms. Deciding on the wood: The owner Aaron met me at his supplier and showed me samples, and gave me excellent recommendations based on his prior experience with that wood. (Note, some vendors make wood that looks good but is much thinner or made cheaper / lower quality) Took home large samples of the wood I liked best, so I could how it looked in the house. The Crew: First, a sidebar.... So many times I experience store employees who have a "tude" or don't care, and I wonder, why do they even have a job, with all of the unemployed people in the US. That rude or lazy employee doesn't deserve that job, and there are thousands of people in line who would take that same job and do it with diligence. (end sidebar) Okay so now lets talk about Aaron's crew. They are amazing. Hardworking, fast, and incredibly good at what they do. I wasn't at the house when they were working, but would visit to see how they were doing. And every time I "popped in" they were working like madmen, killing it! The Cleanup: I've used a lot of contractors for various home improvements, and in general I could say that no matter how good they are, they suck at cleanup. Always leave dirt, sawdust, empty packaging, nails laying in random places. But Aaron's few does STELLAR CLEANUP. Out comes the huge industrial canister vacuumes and brooms and towels. They were serious about cleanup. Now get this. After doing flooring, baseboards, and tile work, both upstairs and downstairs, they left everything like new. I did a walk thru, and saw just one spec of something on the floor, so I licked my finger to pick it up. That was all there was! just a spec! And it probably wasn't even from them. The Finished Work: Well the flooring and crown moulding baseboards were drop dead gorgeous. There were some tricky corners and somehow they got those baseboards done perfectly. Nailed it! Just love the wood flooring and crown work. Stellar. Now lets talk about the ceramic tile. Not only did Aaron's tile guy do awesome work in the kitchen, laundry room, hallway, and 3 bathrooms plus master bathroom... but in the master bathroom he perfectly handled some tricky issues, including uneven flooring that didn't match right with the carpet. He made everything level. Plus he did some other magic, making the bathroom baseboard line up height wise with the bedroom baseboard at the corner junction. Anyways, the tile guy, and every other guy on Aaron's crew, get an A+. Freebie: As part of the bathroom tile work, they must remove the toilet, lay down new tile, then re-install the original toilet. After they removed the toilet they pointed out that it was old and could use a replacement. So I ran over to Costco and picked up a top rated Kohler water saving toilet. They installed it for me for *free*, explaining that after the tile was complete, they would have had to re-install the old toilet, and installing the new one instead would be no additional work. (either way they're installing a toilet, be it the original one or a new one) Many companies would have taken advantage of that situation and added a "Toilet Install" charge to the final invoice, but these guys were completely honest about things and didn't attempt to charge extra. Closing thoughts: These guys are a "class act" and let me tell you why. The wood flooring came from their supplier, but I had purchased the kitchen floor tile myself from Costco. Beautiful, modern and extra large rectangular tile. Although I miscounted and was short 2 cases. (probably was distracted by the free food samples at Costco!) So at the end of the installation job, the tile guy didn't have enough tile to complete the kitchen. My fault entirely. (btw the rest of the house was finished, all tile and wood flooring) So I trekked to Costco to buy more tile, and as a result of not enough tile he had to come back the next morning to finish the kitchen. An extra trip, because of me. But... he didn't complain. Nor did the owner Aaron. These guys are a CLASS ACT, very professional all the way through.

He called a couple days later and asked how much money I had. I asked what he meant and he said "tell me how much money you have and I'll tell you which projects I'll do". I'm guessing this is some kind of tactic but he kept repeating "how much money do you have?" over and over. I didn't want to negotiate, or play hardball, I just wanted to know the estimated price so I knew what to expect. I thanked him for his time, called someone the next day, I got a price, completed my projects.

He was able to replace a toilet, replace 3 sets of bathroom sinks with stoppers, replace the door seal for 2 doors, replace and fit an external door, replace shower door rollers, putty the wall and re-fit a toilet paper holder...all this was done within 4-5 hours at a moments notice. 3.
