Dog urine in the bedroom carpets were unbearable and previous owner tried to cover the urine stains on the wood flooring by doing a bad job of DIY refinishing. At the time of installation we loved the team - fast, polite and great with our dogs. They gave us a solution that we thought was perfect, which saved us replacing our entire wood floor downstairs from a flood. However, the installation did not go well and one year later the floor is not level, there are marks in the wood where one of the solutions didn't work, and we now face having to redo the work to level out the boards. At the time we did get given a discount because the installation wasn't flat, but with hindsight I wish we'd insisted the work get done again, as its continued to raise up. The one positive I can give is that they perfectly matched our existing floor wood which had been discontinued, with a new brand. We were also not the easiest job as we'd flooded, so we knew this wasn't a straightforward installation. I just wish at the time we'd been given more options than 'here is some money back', and that we'd got the job done right. If you do choose to go with this team, be careful to really inspect the work before you give the final payment. read more

I highly recommend Geary Floors! My wife and I had a great experience working with Tad. He is super knowledgeable (and patient for putting up with my endless questions!). Tad was also very flexible when we needed to reschedule last minute because of things I needed to deal with at work. On the day the work started, everyone was on time and took the time to walk the entire downstairs so we were on the same page for everything. Jose was great, he made sure we walked through every room and made sure they knew exactly what we wanted. Robert was very nice and helpful with moving away the demo'd flooring and arranging the delivery of the new floor. Carlos was our main point of contact each day. I was away for work but Carlos met with my wife each day to show her the progress and tell her the plans for the next day. They stayed late a couple nights (after asking if we were OK with it) to make sure that they finished the project in five days. And when they finished, they really cleaned up everything nicely- so much so that my wife commented that we didn't even need to swiffer the floors. Again, it was a great experience start to finish. Geary floors was the best decision I have made to refinish my sad floors. I had a water leak by my refrigerator and everyone I had out said I needed to replace my entire (700 sf) floor, since my floor was no longer available. Tad, my rep at Geary said refinish could be done. Raul and Jose had to replace several boards with some new floorboards of the same variety that they stripped. Jose did a fabulous job with that. Their attention to detail was awesome. To me, it was a miracle what they accomplished. The floor looks brand new with a new updated color. We hired Geary floors to level our cement foundation. We had two additions and the floors needed an extreme amount of sanding and leveling to prepare them for our dream wood floors. The preparation was tough clearing it out and we braced for the mess. John and Eduardo made the process so much better than expected. The first thing that impressed us is that they came on time. We've had so many contractors and that's one thing that usually never happens. They covered our kitchen cabinets even though we told them we would be replacing. What was wonderful was that the dust was kept under control and they cleaned up every day. They finished in three days. They worked through extreme heat. I was very impressed. I'm a little late on my review but it doesn't take away from the amazing job Tad, Dominic and the entire team completed on my home. It started out as a partial replacement but based on their recommendations, I completed my entire home. The job took a few weeks as they chiseled and leveled the concrete floors. They managed to work magic on the multiple angles my home has. Not to mention working around two half limestone circles I wanted to keep intact. They kept me updated every step of the way and included me on certain questionable areas. We chose Geary floors to replace 2200 sq ft of carpet and tile with unfinished engineered wood, sanded and stained to perfection. Before selecting Geary floors, I searched yelp and found they had great reviews. Then I found them recommended more than once on my neighborhood discussion forum. Finally a good friend swore she had the best floor guy, turned out to be Geary Floors! Of the bids we got, Geary was not the lowest and not the highest but in between. I appreciated the bid was specific with which products would be used. We ended up having a leak with delayed our plans, and almost 1 year later Geary Floors still honored their bid. Carlos was our lead, along with Brian, and both were fantastic. Jose and Rudolpho worked tirelessly as well. These guys showed up on time, everyday, and worked hard. Very little time was wasted. We were aiming to finish our floors before thanksgiving, and crew even put in some weekend hours trying to make that happen. As we've settle back in and cleaned up the dust, we are thoroughly enjoying our new floors. First, let me say I didn't go through Geary floors to install my flooring, but man, I wish I had. I went with another highly rated flooring company and they were absolutely awful! The other contractor we used didn't level our floors correctly - or at all, really. Ultimately, we ended up having to have our newly installed floors ripped out. Our original flooring installers came out and "attempted" to fix their previous mistakes. Looking for a second opinion, we had Andrew from Geary floors come out and inspect our original company's attempt at fixing our floors. Within minutes, Andrew was able to mark out areas that were still not level and provided the proper recommendations on how to fix these areas. I started a kitchen remodel over a year ago with a design-build company in San Diego. My main and highest priority from the beginning was to keep my beautiful Southern Chestnut wood floors. I was moving my peninsula down in the new kitchen so the floors would have to be repaired, interlacing old with new. Unfortunately, the manufacturer of my wood had gone out of business and even though I had one box of wood leftover, I didn't have enough to do the entire repair. I met with 2 flooring people from the design-build company to discuss how this could be done and get their help in finding a suitable replacement but neither of them could help and said they thought it couldn't really be done. I thought otherwise so I called, googled and ordered samples for several wood planks and finally found as close of a match as I could although it was still 1/16 of an inch thicker than mine. Then I used Yelp to look for a 5 star highly recommended flooring repair place that would be up to the challenge...enter Tad and Geary Flooring! Tad came out and even though he said it would be tricky, he was positive, knowledgeable and nice about it...what a pleasant surprise! Tad gave me a very reasonable quote for a 1-2 day job and said to let him know when the kitchen was ready for the repair. When that day finally came, he sent Nickolai. Nickolai was very meticulous, worked extremely hard in a time when most people barely work at all, and stayed from early to late for 2 days to get it done. And yes, it was difficult but he stuck with it and in the end, you can't tell the difference! It's beautiful! I would absolutely use Geary again and have already recommended them to others.
