Since the chain opened they always under cut the customers and will tell you your jewelry doesn't have much value. Then I'd go to the SF Gold Buyer in San Francisco, out on West Portal, and I'd get double to triple the price. I sold them a very unique fine grass weaved bracelet with a silver clasp, 2 side silver adornments, very plane, & the larger adornment in the middle. I was told by this place that it had no value but the silver that amounted to nothing. I drove over to SF Gold Buyers and the bought it. A week later I saw it in the sale cabinet, and another week later it sold! I sold it to them for $60. They priced it at $120. So, you have to know more than just the value of the metal! These lunkheads have no clue of the value or history of anything but the obvious. Like that Haida silver jewelry is expensive because it's ALL hammered by hand & hand engraved. It's a kind personals. They have sold me my bicycle : a Peugeot. I wanted to buy also a violin and more much things but I've to wait and now no hope to try again. It's my best purchase. You know, riding with a bicycle in SF it's difficult ; for me, more with the Ford public transport. Many times, I was stole and they cheat on public transport (no change for money back on bus...). But for me, I was really free and I can go anywhere and having a little bit fun in San Francisco. I discover the city with it, all streets, all places, I did with it. Big pleasure and Very SAD story now. In San Francisco, you can ride with a bicycle, in another, it's more difficult and drive, it isn't sometimes the good way of this life. Update to my last review. Tony is probably one of the only associates that takes care of loyal customers. I've been coming to best Collateral for close to a year now and I've came back for all of my loans which I get quite frequently. Today I come in with a brand new 279$ Milwaukee grinder & I'm asking for a simple 20$ loan and they will not help me out. Consumer beware. I have finally got all my items out, took awhile. I lost 1 of my items due to it being expired. I received no notice. When I confronted the manager at B C, he said it was not their responsibility to send out notices since they were short staffed. Which by law is untrue. They gave me the run around where my items might be for over 2 weeks. Was it sold or scraped ? No idea. I lost the item due their negligence, I was devastated. I knew I had to get the rest of my jewelry out. I did not feel that my jewelry was safe there. No other information was given. I emailed customer service numerous times, no one returned by call/texts. I was told there was no contact person. BC were so unprofessional & uncaring. I found the staff to be nice but useless, not trained properly in how to properly assess jewelry much less an a loan. Turnover of employees is high always someone new there. Enough I just had to vent because I was so disappointed in my loss. Consumer just beware of their unsavory Business practices. I have found Maxfrieds & Pacific Loan in Sf to be more forthright in their Business practices & definitely more transparent. Never again Best Collateral. v read more

How to run a a professional pawn store with friendly and knowledgable staff . Apparently blessed with natural ability to stay calm under pressure conducting business during the initial stages of a spreading contagious and lethal vrral Pandemic. The Best Collateral on Mission has that covered. I had the pleasure of dealing with Tony. Had his mask on , gloves, was keeping customers 6 feet from the counter, looking up prices, helping me test out some microphones all while following COVID procedures. Calm ,funny and fast . Good guy. Good at his job. We worked out a price. All good. 2 customers at a time allowed in the store. Great policy. Less worrisome for us than a packed store and obviously safer for all concerned The woman in charge of the door, All over it. She was outside taking our temperature's. Plus keeping the line straight outside , keeping customers straight inside. Back and forth. Joking with everyone but serious about her work. Mask, gloves, digital thermometer. All day long? Stressed me out just watching her . I awkwardly asked her name, knowing I wss3 Yelping this killet crew.. (my first time to Yelp). I didn't mention YELP .She refuse to tell me! Then ran to the locked front door to greeet another patient. I mean customer... Total pro. Lovely black woman with cool glasses on , late 20's. Robert was cool too. Answered the phone when I called 1st. Super nice so I decided to visit. Hats off to the hiring manager. Excellence starts at the top. Good eye. Im a 25 year pro bartender, now bar consult/ mentor as well as entertainment for events. Ive seen every situation imaginable. And Im good. But Ive got nothing on your superstar staff at Mission Best Collateral. It may sound gushing , because it is. Crowd control, ( very varied SF crowd) cash handling, conducting business professionally, taking temperatures, keeping an eye in the drunk guy stumbling around. Cool and humor? That is a talent. In the face of a deadly contagion, It's damn near heroic. NOTE TO BEST COLLATERAL CORPORATE OFFICE: If you haven't already.... I hope there is some type of provision made to help these guys during a hard time. That your company feels some obligation to take care of folks above the line of duty. Maybe Hazard Pay for their valiant work. I came in 3 different days , same Vigilant MO. Or- Overtime / double-pay for every hour worked. Or - 500$ a day bonuses. Roughly equivalent to cost of a private nurse had one been hired. Performing a job for agreed upon salary or hourly is one thing. Performing said job well in addition required to take on protocols and prevention procedures to protect 1 the health and the very lives of customers, while protecting your own., Also by extension protecting the family and loved ones you going to every day. With a death rate of 2%to 4 %- coukd be more. Mathematically these guys potentially saved 4 or more lives per 100 customers far as we know. Maybe more. Trllions of Federal Stimulus Dollars your Company can get a piece of now. A company with such well-run stores (I've been to two locations) I'm sure has a cognizant CEO Regional, HR staff, etc.. Pawn Shop pay when duty includes entire shifts is minimizing deadly viris infections of customers, and themselves , potentially saving lives or at least extending them in the process at their own risk deaervws consideration. . You hear about pawn shops all the time being dark and cluttered with only 1 person behind the counter but that is not the store with Best Collateral. When you 1st walk in you are greeted by one the the amazing employees, when I went in it was Paola that greeted me with a smile and asked me how my day was going and advised me of all the monthly sales that were going on for July. I advised I was just looking around and I wasn't pressured at anytime while I was walking around this bright lit store with many pieces of amazing jewelry and all types of electronics. As I was walking out of the store I was met by the Store Manager Will who thanked me for coming in and handed me his business card if I had any questions in the future feel free to call the store and ask for him personally. Came here during a job transition a while back, got less than I expected, but was new to pawning anything. Everytime I dropped in the manager drooled over my mixti-frame bianchi, asked when I was gonna pawn that. Finally I bring it in, hauled it alongside another bike, not easy for a guy with sever nerve damage. Get in and they offer me $40... for a Bianchi frame. I wouldn't care, except this useless manager kept telling me to bring it in. Guy is a chode, asked for all this marketing advice from me.. then when I need a little help he can't step away from his lunch. What a total hole. Won't be back, won't recommend.
