Not only did someone answer but agreed to save a table for us during prime dim sum hours. (Excuse me...what?). Something is learned in MA is always factor in traffic, no matter what Google Maps says. The order sheet with pictures was given and immediately checked off our staple items. -Siu Mai This was DD's favorite of all time and she is the Siu Mai monger in our fam. I trust her opinion. Well balanced filling, nicely steamed. Not overly fatty or seafoody IYKYK -Baked BBQ bun Tradional baked bun. Slightly crunchy top (not the pineapple crust). I could have eaten a whole plate by myself had I not had to save room for other dishes -Har Gow (being that we're in a fresh seafood state) -Steamed Beef ball - it was steamed on a bed of greens vs dried tofu skin. Omg! It's been ages since I've had it this way -Sesame Roll The egg tarts were sold out and this was our consolation prize but OMG, I might have cried at the first bite. Yes. It was that good. Freshly steamed and them rolled bc it came out in the beginning and still hot on the inside -Tofu pudding -Rice Roll (Beef) -Sticky Rice (Lo Mai Gai) - "Ha moon choy mai" (kinda looks like Filipino pancit) A wok fried vermicelli dish I haven't had in over 30 years was requested and didn't think they'd make it. But...they DID. The owner said the chef was from HKG and could make anything I wanted . The flavors were so nostalgic. Not only did the owner and manager stop by to chat, but the customers sitting next to us joined in. Everyone was so nice and welcoming like the other Bostonians we encountered on our trip. Ngl, I considered moving here just for the food and atmosphere. Probably one of the best dim sums I've had in the States and probably in HKG. Everything was steamed to perfection. We ordered a rice roll as usual--the female owner accidentally handed the dish to another table, and it sat there for about five minutes or so, while the couple was talking over the dish. Then the female owner apparently realized the dish was handed to the wrong table, she took it back into the kitchen (as a deception, thinking we wouldn't realize it's the same dish, we saw her through the curtain, she was holding the same dish the whole time--she didn't know we were watching and rightfully suspicious of what she was sneakily doing), then brought it out right back to our table. We did not want to say anything. But it was disgusting, people do spit onto the dish when they talk over it during those five minutes, you know? We were too shy to cause a scene or destroy the long standing relationship. Further, we couldn't afford to let that $12 or so dish go to waste. So we tried eating it. Afterward, we felt so disgusted. And that was the last time we went to Big Fun Cafe. Two years or so ago. Even after learning of its new location in Brookline, we are just so disgusted by the memory of the incident described above -- so we never tried their Brookline location. Note to the owners: for future customers, such mistakes do happen, but please have some integrity and just discard/trash the contaminated dish -- or if you want to be so cheap, eat the contaminated dishes yourself. Don't be so stingy and deceptive so as to hand it to your presumed naive customers. That was extremely disgusting and even two years later, we're still disgusted by it.

Though not a Thai restaurant, their Tom Yum noodle soup is just the best. They let you choose the type of noodle you want which is really nice if you want to customize and have a preference for noodles. Other favorites I recommend from the menu are the fried oysters and the green tea smoothie. Wish I could recommend more since it's such a big menu but I keep sticking to the same things so I can't personally speak to them. Others have tried the rice dishes etc and liked them a lot as well so I really don't think you can go wrong.

Most of all, it was a great value. Had I gone to the north end or anywhere else in Boston? It would've been 30 to 40% more expensive. The long rice noodles were silky and filled with char sui. The sauce was more vinegar than sweet which is how I have normally had it. Still good! Their stir-fried peapod stems are pretty good. They'll work with you if you are vegan/vegetarian. Service is probably its weakness, even with the understanding that it's a Chinese restaurant and I order in Cantonese. They'll try to hurry you along at the end of a meal. One waiter even asked, "Are you done?" Before I could retort he said, "We're running a business here". The FOH is pretty nice and is prompt. Hints of black bean sauce in a thinned-down broth. Great on its own and mixed with white rice. -- Chicken with Fried Garlic: Stellar as well, but a repeat item, so the greatness wasn't a surprise like the clams. Crispy, juicy, strongly flavored of marinade that stood out even with the garlic (mild, not bitter) and salt. Some light heat in there too. Elite and a perennial must-order dish. -- Beef Chow Foon: First time offered a choice between wet and dry. I remember the last time it was soaked with sauce (delicious though), so went dry this time and enjoyed it more. Very soft noodles, beef very tender, and much more of it than you would expect for the fairly reasonable price. The bill adds up quickly but I contend there's good value-- unless you need good service to have good value. After three visits, I can say the food is mostly spectacular, but the servers are anything but attentive. The Chinese donuts were cold and old tasting; I was super disappointed. The shrimp steam rolls were very delicious! The ovaltine French toast is sweet. It has ovaltine powder on it and it's covered with sweetened condensed milk. It is tasty, sweet and a bit messy to eat but I enjoyed it. Iced coffee was strong. Iced soy milk is preferred over hot soy milk but that is just personal preference and it was over 90 degrees outside. It is a small cafe with limited seating at the window. The menu is on the wall. You order and when it's done they call your number. It is NOT ADA friendly. You have to climb stairs to get in. It was quite difficult for me as I was using my cane. This was my first Hong Kong style fast food cafe created by Chopped Champion and James Beard semifinalist Chef Laurence Louie and Rary Ratsifa. After going to another Hong Kong cafe nearby, and having something to compare this to, I would not return to this establishment as I think there are better Hong Style cafes with better food and ADA friendliness establishments.
