This is a low key restaurant in a dated strip mall in the Mississauga neighborhood of Toronto.  They're not flashy but as our party of 5 ate our dinner, the place went from empty to half full.  So the locals certainly know about it.   We enjoyed our first Toronto dinner here on this foodie road trip.  With the evening traffic patterns in Toronto, it was actually more time efficient to eat in Mississauga and wait for traffic to clear to our ultimate destination Markham which it nicely did.   We ordered: - white pepper chicken with pork tripe - roast duck with black pepper - mixed mushrooms with tofu - lily sprouts with spinach - a bowl of congee Every dish was tip-top delicious but I did find the chicken dish to be overly peppery with white pepper but the pork tripe in this dish requires it apparently.   The food came out pretty quickly but service otherwise was a bit impersonal.  I also didn't like that they briefly had a strong incense smell going in the dining room.    The seats were also a bit uncomfortably low and the tables small for the volume of food.  The pre-tip bill was $127.68 CAD or $93.88 USD, a great value.  The competition in the Toronto Chinese restaurant business is quite keen and we found almost all the places we visited were great values, so this was typical in that regard. It was also nice to visit this older Mississauga section of Toronto for one of their Chinese eateries and to later compare and contrast it to the newer Chinese enclaves of Toronto.

We were here on Friday for lunch. Service was okay, there are some new staff whom I guess are still adjusting to the restaurant. They had lunch specials which come with a drink, however they did not have any soya milk even though it was listed on the lunch menu. I ordered the stir fried vermicelli noodles, there was barely anything in there besides noodles. It tasted really bland. My boyfriend ordered the Cantonese chow mein which looked and tasted great.

My family is acquainted with the owner and chef of the restaurant and he's a very nice person with lots of creativity. You can have the standard westernized and traditional food you expect in any Chinese restaurant and it's the default menu. For fancy and creative new dishes the chef makes, you have to request it or ask for a different menu (sometimes in advance). The food here is great, servers can be a bit loud or direct but that's part of what makes a Chinese restaurant. The chef takes a lot of time to create his famous dishes (request the menu!) and has great plating skills.

Amidst the streets of Mississauga lies the Mississauga Chinese Centre, and there is where you'd find the Best Friend Restaurant. Whatever you call it, I honestly don't have the words to describe this restaurant. The servers here, especially this one lady, was like watching someone's reaction to a movie from start to finish - exciting and hyped up (trying to upsell literally every dish on the menu) to dank and dreadful (literally not giving a damn). She had mustered enough energy to sell 5 dishes that afternoon. Green Onion & Ginger Lobster: Wasn't bad, but wasn't really that good either. The lobster was tough and rubbery and overall, it was really dry. The flavour was alright, but that alone wasn't enough to save it. Also... fried taro strips on top? Not pretty common, but I'm fine with that. "Korean Vegetables": This was one of the dishes the waitress was heavily upselling. For $15, you get a plate full of what looks like something a Buddhist temple would serve after prayers. Something along the lines of Buddha's Delight. I can see why she was upselling it though... looks like it only cost 50 cents to make. Disappointing. Green Beans with Minced Pork: Probably one of the only dishes I didn't mind. It's hard to mess this one up. The beans were cooked to the right doneness (tender, with a nice snap to it) and the minced pork gave it the right amount of saltiness. I could do without the random fried vermicelli bits though. General Tsao's Chicken: My gosh... this was horrid. They messed up the coating on this real bad. All I could taste was flour. Not batter (cause fried batter covered in sauce is fine), but flour. It was gritty, damp, and disgusting. And holy **** (pardon my language), this last dish looked like they were bored out of their mind and watched all 15 seasons of Top Chef. It was chicken stuffed with this rice mixture with a side salad doused in sesame sauce. It came on a slate inside a cloche with smoke trapped inside. I came for CHINESE FOOD man, not some weird experiment. If I wanted that, I'd go somewhere else. Anywho, this dish looked like chicken, but tasted like fish. Like seriously? It was that bad. This place honestly deserves a 1-star, but I'm giving it 2 for the entertainment value. A well known man once said, "Your worst enemy could be your best friend, and your best friend could be your worst enemy." I really think it's the latter only.

The food is excellent here. If you are looking for authentic Cantonese style with fusion technique. My absolute favourite is the slow cook beef ribs Then it's the chicken stuffed with glutinous rice, this is the most traditional authentic dish that even in china it's very hard to find. I saw a review here saying it taste like fish but looks like chicken, honestly he/she has absolutely no knowledge of traditional Cantonese cuisine. The steam lobster with garlic and glass noodles is done nicely as the garlic sauce has been seasoned very well. The shrimp with egg is pretty good. The pork with green beans in pepper sauce is excellent From time to the the chef Vincent will promote some of the seasonal food such as Scallop sashimi from Hokkaido French edible crab The price is very reasonable.

Good decor Lunch special I had - L10 spicy tofu with pork was very mediocre. And the waitress brought the dish with her thumb in the dish. Gross!!!. My wife had L8- beef dish with radish. That was better. She ordered chicken soup with papaya. She say was barely ok. Would not come back here. Come-on, Thumb in customer's food???!!! How about using a tray to carry food, instead of carrying dish with your hand and using thumb to get a better grip. When the waitress brought the food, her thumb was in the sauce, and her thumb had sauce on it. I looked at her, and she looked at me. What a moment. Owner should take notice and make sure the food is carried on a tray not with fingers, and having fingers in food dishes. That is very unhygienic and disgusting. F grade!

What a delicious meal! We chose the pick 3 option: deep fried tiger shrimp served over a bed of chicken in black bean sauce, deep fried chicken and beef with onions and mushrooms in a sizzling skillet. The dinner came with soup (tonight's soup was carrot, papaya, tomato in a beef broth) and dessert (Chinese dessert) - you have to order the rice separately ($1.75 each). When we sat down at 4:30, there was only 1 waiter serving 5 tables. Service was quick, the food came out piping hot and we still had leftovers to take home. A lot of the other patrons ordered lobster - we'll have to try that next time. The only reason I didn't give a 5-star rating was that the decor and seating area is dated and a bit on the dirty side (don't expect white linens). But if you want to fill your tummy with good food and not end up with a bill of over $80 for dinner for 2, come try this place!

I used to come here as a kid when the Mississauga Chinatown was good and was jamming. Now, it's a sad shadow of it's former self with all the urban sprawl happening around Mississauga and more people willing to travel to the east end for food these days. However, I haven't been in the restaurant recently, but my mom told me that it's a lot more up-to-date than it used to be, but this review is purely on their delivery. Timing of delivery: 30 minutes to an hour. 45 minutes at the most. Impressive for a Chinese place. Some of my recent orders have included deep fried tofu with salt & pepper, hot and sour soup, fried oysters with salt and pepper (yes I know, I like my salty and spicy foods), eel fried rice, shanghai dumplings. Honestly, all the spicy foods and deep fried foods are excellent, especially the deep fried oyster. Definitely recommend that. Eel fried rice - not bad, but not excellent. Shanghai dumpling - they are okay, but hard to judge considering they were in a foam container so it's not really fair to judge those unless you eat in. For delivery, definitely recommend and they are on Just Eat. For dine-in, TBD.

I really love this restaurant, such a great atmosphere, the people were friendly and food was pretty good! Here's what we had: Eggplant with Minced Pork (5/5) - this was AMAZING! My favourite dish of the meal. Super tasty and the eggplant was tender without being gooey. Steamed Fish (2/5) - not good! Seems frozen, wasn't well flavoured, not enough ginger or soy sauce for my liking Scrambled Eggs with Broccoli (3.5/5) - pretty good, nothing spectacular though Green Beans with Minced Pork (4/5) - loved by everyone! Super tasty and the beans were especially crisp Steamed Chicken (1/5) - not great, this was disappointing to be honest but everything else was great enough for anyone to overlook this Don't forget to order some lemon tea omnomnom PRO TIP: a couple stores down is the BEST bahn mi store in sauga. THE BEST. If you leave the area without some bahn mi you'll regret it! (The tofu shop is also great)

It's clear they take pride in their little establishment. It is small, so be sure to reserve if you can! I wasn't as fond of the house sauce as I am at other places, and some of the crab pieces were a bit hollow. But this place, located in a plaza on the southeast corner of Mavis & Eglinton, dispelled any negative notions I had about seafood boil restaurants. The place was very cozy, as myself and my three other lunch companions fit into a booth. We arrived right when the place opened, but soon space was getting limited as the lunch rush came to pass. And we could see why throughout our meal. We all ordered non-alcoholic mojitos first, with our choice of fruit syrup flavour; I selected pineapple. Then we each ordered our respective boil buckets; I went with shrimp and crawfish with corn and potatoes in the restaurant's namesake sauce. The servers brought the boil bags and emptied the contents onto our place, providing a dizzy aroma of spices, oil and garlic that would remain on our fingers all day. We also bought extra servings of rice to sop up the leftover sauce after our seafood was consumed. My shrimps and crawfish (which I haven't had in some time) were all finger-licking delicious, thanks to the Seau de Crabe sauce that infused every bit of meat inside the crustaceans. I would go back for future visits, seeing as how my family loves seafood, and it's not too far from our place in Mississauga!

Service & Atmosphere: Five Stars The service here was truly exceptional... super quick, genuinely friendly, and so very kind. The interior is decorated well with a fun, slightly nautical vibe, but my absolute favorite feature was the artistic touch on the way to the restroom. There are these vibrant wall paintings that are clearly designed to be photo ops, and I loved that they encouraged patrons to snap a picture. It's those little details that really elevate the atmosphere! The Captain's Boil: Good, but Different Now, to the food. Full disclosure: I lived in Georgia for 12 years, and nothing is ever going to beat a seasoned, authentic Florida crab boil in my mind. However, this boil is pretty darn good in its own right. I went with the Non-Spicy Captain Boil (which is a mixed seafood option) and loaded it up with lobster, potatoes, and an egg. The seasoning was flavorful and well-balanced, though it leaned a little less toward the heavy Cajun spice blend I'm used to. It delivered a scrumptiously satisfying seafood experience. Everything was cooked perfectly the 1.5lb lobster was tender, and the potatoes soaked up the sauce so very nicely. I would definitely go back the next time I'm craving a seafood boil.
