I lost the keys to my ford yesterday at the movies, Called several companies for pricing and because it was late at the evening they tried to over charge me for more than 300$ for a simple key without even a remote! Let me first say that Raphael will forever be my go-to locksmith forever! I hope to never need him again, but after my experience with him, I know he will be there if I do. My girlfriend got her purse stolen in Vegas and her car was at Love Field. Classic scenario, Apt key was in the car, spare car key was in the Apt. She flew back to Dallas and I dropped her at work that next morning. She spent the morning canceling credit cards and trying to figure out how to get her car moving again. She spoke to two dealers close by that said she would have to: A. Have the car towed to the dealer ($70.00) B. Purchase a new key ($250) C. And have it programmed ($500) She had an old spare key that no longer worked, she thought she had lost that one years ago. The dealer said that key fob had been deactivated and would not work. She got this story twice. I told her that was BS!. The dealer was clearly trying to scare her into spending more money than was necessary. I Googled it and of course there are several options available for new & used keys and services that would come and program the new key (her particular car required physical contact) She called several companies that offered to come out and fix it for $185-$225 roughly, but everyone required a $85 non refundable service call fee. I later found out that the reason they charge the $85 call fee is that if their software isn't up to date and they can't program the key, they want to still make money, and it's their fault they can't fix it! Raphael just charged a $20 service call, basically the cost of gas to and from the location, Very-Reasonable! The Total cost for our situation was $165. Long story short, I called Raphael after seeing him here on Yelp and he came out after his next call. He arrived when he said he would and kept me updated as he left his last call and was on the way. Seriously - these guys are amazing. David came to my apartment within 20 minutes to open the front door to my apartment building and the door to my actual apartment. He was a little too late - turns out my across the hall neighbor had keys to my apartment?? So David replaced my lock and charged it to my landlord. He basically read my landlord the riot act and got him to cover the cost. I'm so happy he handled this quickly and with professionalism. From start to finish these guys were extremely professional! My first appointment was earlier than the appointment I ended up having, but I fell asleep. It was also the very next day, I might add! So, instead of being annoyed with me for sleeping through their phone calls, everyone was SO nice to me about it :) So Eran called 30 minutes before he was supposed to arrive, just as they had promised and arrived 30 minutes later, just as he had said. He was super polite and very knowledgeable with regard to his job. Our garage door didn't have a lock on it, so he showed me how someone could enter the overheard door without a remote control! So he installed a new lock and door knob on our interior garage door, and re-keyed our other three locks, at a super reasonable price, I might add! A European gentlemen I believe was the owner (I'm bad with names.) I had locked the keys in my trunk..it was an older high security lock a 5/16" thick steel trunk. We talked for about 10 minutes about random stuff while he got his tools ready, as he is very friendly. He had the trunk open within 5 minutes. He came out to East dallas in Junius heights (don't wanna be here after dark) after several locksmiths heard the situation and said "good luck." Opened the trunk on an '82 mercedes benz 300SD. Well, we accidentally left our ONLY garage door opener in our baby stroller and shut our garage door from the inside. We have an older detached garage with no side door entrance so we were in trouble. I call one garage door company and one locksmith before calling A Star. Both explained there was no way in and it would require damaging the garage door to get in...Yikes!!! Then, I make one more call to A Star based on the Yelp reviews. I speak to Raphael and he explains he finishing a job and will be at my house in 45 mins. He shows up (early) and within 15 minutes, he's got the garage door open with no damage to the garage door. If I could leave zero stars, I would. They were very prompt in getting to our new home. After they recommended something twice as expensive as my original quote, I told him we'd need to talk it over. He asked for $25 for service few, we were never advised of the fee. It wasn't so much the fee ($25 isn't worth writing a bad Yelp review) it was his comment "You didn't expect me to work for free" I gave him my card & told him I'd pay the fee but we'd look elsewhere. I went back into the bedroom & was surprised to find that he had come back in my house & followed me into the room. I think he thought I was alone. He was aggressive & in my face. I told him to run the card & get out of my house or I'd call my husband. I asked him repeatedly to get out of my house. He refused to leave. I ran to my husband who was in another room & told him what was going on. He literally had to chase him off our property. We offered numerous times to pay him, please don't think we're trying to get out of the $25 service fee, I'd hate to think what might have happened had my husband not been here. I'm happy he didn't re-key out home. I don't want him anywhere near here. I added this to my Twitter & FB accounts to warn others. read more
