Not what I was expecting. I read the review from 7 years ago and was excited to check this place out. First thing-although very nice the lady and her daughters working there knew next to no English. The kids did moreso than her, but not perfect. I asked for pork knuckle and thigh bones. Daughter had to show her on her body where the bone I was asking for was lol. She showed me she had pork shoulder-not exactly what I was looking for. I then asked for neck bones (I was making a soup and needed bones) and she said she didn't have any. I guess she didn't really understand me because I found them myself on the shelf. I grabbed some pork belly and asked if the skin was on. She looked closer at it and said no. I asked are you sure cause it looks like it does. She said no skin. Well I was right it did have skin so that was an extra step for me to remove. The inside is kinda dingy but it is easy to find things (if you look yourself that is...) thing is, everything is frozen and I just don't understand going to a butcher for frozen meat. 2 stars for the prices and the wide variety. If you need cheap frozen meat with a wide variety this is your place. Not what I expect from a butcher though. At all. I probably won't be going back. read more

I have driven by Best Meats many times and often wondered if it was a good place to shop. So I finally decided to stop and check it out. I am glad I did. I bought a bone-in pork butt to smoke for the 4th. The pork was very moist and delicious. I also bought filet mignon which also was good. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was getting Black Canyon brand beef. The staff was friendly and helpful. The store has a large selection of different meats, chicken, sausage and seafood. This what you'd expect from a butcher shop. It ain't pretty, but you have excellent service, the owner is on scene and you can have the butcher suggest the cuts of meat. They customize all cuts, unlike the grocery stores and unlike the grocery stores they have the unusual. There are certain items that you won't find in a grocery store, like rabbit, like pork belly, like pig ears, and jowls. I'd even bet that they would have beef cheeks, these are wonderful when cooked correctly. The prices are better then Whole Foods Market, fresh market, Publix and Winn-Dixie. My parents live in a community near the Villages. I was trying to find a nice gift for their anniversary. I called Best Meats, spoke with the butcher and explained that I wanted to find a nice selection of steaks for them to cook on their grill at home. Been looking for a real butcher shop since we moved to FL in 2012 ... finally found a little place in Wildwood, FL ... called Best Meats ... One of the most tender and tastiest ribeye steaks I ever bought down here ... it was almost 1 1/2# ... did it on the grill and was thrilled how tender and juicy it was done to Medium Rare ... also his sausage reminds me of sausage made in PA ... his thick pork chops were also excellent ... Just had my first meal with pork chops purchased at Best Meats. They were custom cut 3/4" chops that I oven roasted. They were excellent! The service was professional and the shop clean and well organized. The price was very reasonable. I also purchased some ground sirloin that will soon become chili. We drove by Best Meats a couple times and Friday decided to stop. We live in Leesburg. The butcher was a great guy to talk with. And, asked him if he had any filet mignon. Well, he pulled out a filet and cut 6 steaks 1 3/4 thick and they looked great. Saturday, I barbecued 2 on the grille. And, was in heaven. They would melt in your mouth. We didn't look at all the meats, fish, pork, poultry, etc. they had. But, will check them out in two weeks, when we go back. read more

I was on my way up to Belleview because our meat market had closed last year, and on the way up there, I saw Best Meats, so I stopped. I made my order and was told it would be ready by 9:00 am the next day. A little after 9, I showed up and it was ready. The butcher went through the entire order with me. The only problem was, when they went to ring me up it was almost $50 higher than I thought I was supposed to pay. After explanations back and forth, with the owner, or manager, not sure which, they told me they were going to honor the price I was told. I was so shocked. I even offered to split the difference and pay a little more, but she wouldn't let me. After the butcher carried my box out to my car, I went home and immediately called back to make sure I had said thank you. It's so very rare these days for someone to do the right thing, even at a loss to themselves. On top of that, the meat is excellent. They've earned a customer for life. read more
