No chitchat or small talk . The ambiance was take out buffet. The food lacked good flavor. The bbq pork was dry and had small flavors. The spicy chicken had way too much chili powder and no other flavors. The broccoli beef was ok but mostly broccoli. I will say that the food is not as bad as some people state. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and beef with broccoli, with half chowmein and half fried rice. For the price and the portion that is given, I can honestly say this is a good deal like any other Chinese spot. Reading the reviews, I was already excited to try this place. My family and I will sometimes do our laundry at the laundromat a few doors down and stumbled upon this place. Best tasty food, huh? That's an expectation to live up to and this place did not disappoint. I ordered the combo B place which comes with chow mein/fried rice and two entrees for $7.99. I got half and half chow mein and fried rice and bbq pork and salty/spicy fried fish. It was divine. The salty/spicy fried shrimp was absolutely amazing and something I could eat every day. The flavor is powerful and the saltiness of it is perfect to where it is savory and gives you just the right amount of flavor punch. The spicy aspect is also not that overpowering, so you keep wanting more after more. That will definitely be something I get again. The bbq pork was good too! I would've liked some more flavor, but that might be my opinion after having something as savory and delicious as the fried fish. The chow mein is good and the fried rice was a little hard, but that's okay! We also got egg rolls and those were delicious with their sweet and sour sauce. I've been living on the North side of Bakersfield now for about a year and I barely decided to try Best Tasty. I'll admit I was hesitant about it. I'm super picky about Chinese food. I tried the pot stickers, cream cheese wontons and teriyaki chicken. The teriyaki sauce had a weird taste, I'm not a fan. The pot stickers and wontons were really good. Their chowmein and rice were flavorless. I paid $14 for all that and overall I was not impressed. The employees weren't talkative but they weren't rude so I can't complain. I am honestly so disappointed on how they run their business. How money hungry they can be. They charge 0.50 cents for watered down sriracha sauce & I have no problem paying for it. Once I got my bag she said something about not charging me for the sauce & that it was free pointing to the bag. I thought that was what she meant, what she really meant was that she didn't charge me for the sauce & DID NOT put it in the bag & what was actually "free" was those nasty ones in the little package. I checked in my car & of course no forks nor napkins and that's when I realized I didn't get my sauce. My husband went back inside & said that the lady told him I didn't get it because she didn't charge me for it!! It's not like I was asking for it for free. This place is a little hidden treasure. My brother in law told me it was the best food and I had to check it out. It is very clean and they are friendly. I have my favorite, chicken breast in black bean sauce that has onion, peppers and green beans. The fried rice is great as well as the chow mein. The food has gone down hill in quality. Everything seems to have a grease slide and is over cooked. My Won Ton soup did not have Won tons at all and the Orange Chicken tasted burnt.
