This place has been on our radar for some time, and we're happy we made the decision to eat at Soy and Spice. We went around midday on a Saturday, we got there right before a rush for lunch. The restaurant is small and cozy and the service was great! Also, bathroom was clean. We decided to eat pho, pad Thai (level 3 spice), and salt and pepper wings (delicious). The food was great. There I was... laying in bed... coughing... hacking. Test myself for COVID... it was negative. Anyways longstory short I lived the ordeal but needed soup DURING the ordeal. In comes my relationship with the Wonton soup. Quite frankly the relationship was inappropriate, toxic even. It really wasn't that good but I kept ordering it ???? With a touch of MSG and some probably costco bought wontons, I slowly returned to my original form. Now flip the narrative. One day after work I'm kinda sad... being an LA boy I missed my asian cuisine. Mom was out at MahJong and dad was idk planting flowers or something (he's retired now so I guess he picked up Botany). Out comes the beef chow fun. Quite frankly it itched my chinese tickle. You know its good when it's named "fun." That's "noodles" in Mandarin for my non-Mandarin friends. 5 out of 5. I didn't know what to expect when I came here. The place is very small, but just the right size in the dining room. It seems that they do a lot of takeout orders. So we didn't have to wait very long at all. Everything came out pretty quick and everything was just amazing. This place is across from my house so we will definitely be back. Cozy little spot that seats about 40 - 50 people. There seemed to be only two people working but they were very efficient with seating and service. Their menu offered a nice variety of Asian favorites, we were hoping for more Pho choices but what they had was good enough for what we wanted. We enjoyed the presentation of the hot tea. The individual tea pot was adorable and being able to watchnit bew was a cool touch. The wonton noodle soup was delicious. The broth was delicate in flavors and didn't swallow up the flavor of the added chili oil. They weren't stingy of the amount of wontons or noodles. There definitely was enough to where if you wanted a wonton soup you could eat a few wontons, if you wanted a Ramen, you could slurp up enough Ramen to enjoy your Ramen soup and go back to having a wonton. My husband enjoyed the three meat beef, tripe, and pork combo Pho. Not sure what kind of tripe is used but its cut so nicely thin it looked like a piece of chicken. His only negative about it was that it was served with a side of lemon that he said changed the flavor profile a little bit from a lime. The staff is always really friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. I usually get the two-item plate with orange chicken and kung pao chicken. The orange chicken is perfectly crispy and fresh, and the kung pao chicken has an amazing flavor -- kind of chili-style, but not spicy at all. We got takeout for our lunch today. 2 orders of 2 item combo plates. One combo was Kung pow chicken, teriyaki chicken with fried rice and Chow Mein. Other combo plate was Kung pow chicken and 2 egg rolls with fried rice and Chow Mein. Well, the Kung pow chicken was good, nice and tender chicken and veggies, but the ratio of chicken vs zucchini was a joke, it was like 75% veggies and 25% chicken. Still good though! Teriyaki chicken was also good, just didn't taste very much like teriyaki. Still had a nice coating of sauce that had a good flavor though. Also tender and not fatty huge chucks of meat! Chow Mein was pretty good, but wasn't that flavorful IMO, until I put a little salt on it. Made it better. Fried rice was the best. Perfect. And the egg rolls were crispy and tasty, not sure if we were supposed to have a choice as to what flavor we wanted (chicken or vegetable) they didn't ask, just gave us veggie rolls, which were good, but they didn't have much filling in them. Everyone was friendly. Place was clean, they got crowded as soon as my husband started ordering lol. 27$ total. Not bad at all. There are other items we'd definitely like to try, so we will eventually come back for more. Worth a shot IMO! read more

Ok so i've got an up and down relationship with this place. My rating is based on the fact that they can and have done better in the past and have just crept downhill for the last year or so. It was so rich, dark, flavourful with tender beef amazing sauce etc. Well what i received this time was shit literally awful! Tough meat, no sauce it was all just dry. Canned mushroom???? Like wtf?? And such an odd taste like it had been left out for days like spoiled tasting FAIL!! This was immediately thrown away. Hong Kong style chow fun...Not the prettiest chow fun not the sauciest but decent flavour but still quite bland no discernible wow flavours in the sauce at all. Noodles were great nice texture, veggies were still crisp tender. Pork fried rice decent. Enough to feed like 10 Lol! Nothing super special but flavoured nicely and basic could've used 1-2 min more in the wok though. I've had some pretty bad fried rice this is ok pretty basic but truth be told i've had better from them in the past. In fact this used to be my favourite fried rice in town. Salt & Pepper wings....These were great delicious, crispy, juicy, full of flavour!! Interesting batter they used and i'm usually not a battered wing girl. I definitely could eat that whole container and not even care and wink at you happily after i'm done ;) No i won't share Haha! Well maybe if you ask nicely. Cream cheese wontons...They we're basic good wontons and crispy but definitely lacking enough filling maybe a scant 1/2 teaspoon if that in there and for 9.99 i expect more plump filling ;) Will i come back? well if i don't get stomach issues from this batch (you know what i mean Lol) Yea i'll be back for certain dishes but not for a while after i ate it i was just completely over it...Please reevaluate that Mongolian beef it's horrible like real horrible!! We started with Spring Rolls and Salt and pepper combo which included fish , shrimp and calamari. The spring roll was fresh and delicious. The thing was that it had a small piece of pork and the sauce it came with was on the thicker side. The salt and pepper combo was perfectly seasoned and crispy. I got beef pho. What a gem! The first time I came here many year a ago, I ordered Pho, and I didn't they were all that special. I recently visited them to give another chance. My hubs and I ordered calamari, pork chop daily special and pad thai. All three tasted fresh and delicious. Pad thai was full of flavor(3 out of 5 spicy level was plenty spicy for a spicy lover like me), and the texture of the noodle was spot on. Pork chop was out of this world(onions came with it was barely cooked, so it was pretty spicy, but it went very well with the pork chop, so i loved it). The restaurant may look small and mellow, but their food is very flavorful, so don't get fooled. The young server was a bit shy so didn't/couldn't answer some of my questions, but i find that kind of cute to see that in these young new professionals, so no prob there - she was very nice. read more

However, the portions are super stingy and the woman was arguing with our waiter about giving us teriyaki sauce for my husband's plate. My broccoli and beef combo plate only had two small slivers of beef in the actual serving I got, and it was mostly rice and noodles. They're very stingy on the main entrée portions. The lady seemed pretty irritated and was yelling in Vietnamese or Chinese about how she had to give us more teriyaki Sauce. We would probably eat here again because the place was really delicious, but we just know maybe to order out to see if we can get a larger portion of the actual entrées and not just a vegetable and rice if they try to overfill the plate with. read more
