It was a night for soup. Went to Kamisama Ramen. It was empty. We were the only ones there. But that's ok. I asked about the DanDan noodles. I had never heard of them but they were advertised on the wall. I could be wrong, but I believe it is like Tonkatsu ramen but spicy. I don't know.... But it was amazing!!! This will for sure be my go to ramen from now on. I added boiled eggs and garlic. It was perfect!! So yummy!! So much flavor!! We also ordered the gyoza. It was good. Upon arrival, the place is clean so I'll give them that but should have known the place isn't great by the fact that I was the only one in the restaurant. I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup and it looked nothing like the picture. In the picture you can clearly see a different broth (more red and clear) was used and was also missing Spinach (as seen in the picture). Came with family and would say the pictures are misleading. It wasn't busy but that doesn't mean anything to me, people on a Tuesday night may not be wanting to go out in the Bakersfield heat to have dinner. We ordered the garlic edamame, Gyoza (chicken), an Tonkotsu chicken ramen, and yaki-udon beef. For drinks we had a Diet Pepsi and a Okinawa milk tea. The food was so flavorful! We thoroughly enjoyed every bite! The only thing negative that I can share is that the appetizers came out at the same time as one of our dinners. A surprise find on a rainy, cold day! Perfect ramen bowl for much less than other competitor restaurant prices. The pork chasui was tender, the broth had depth, I added corn, boiled egg and kamaboko to the regular base items of bean sprouts, bamboo shoots and green onions, noodles were cooked perfectly and had the right "chew" factor. I wish they had powdered tongarashi (spicy chili powder) available, but their red chili sauce wasn't bad to spice things up. Contrary to the other reviews, we had a good, courteous server who showed us to a table and promptly took our order. Restaurant, although smaller in size, was clean and bright. A Starbucks Cafe is directly adjacent to the restaurant-- a convenient location for a post meal coffee! We'll be returning back to try other menu items! read more

I was in town looking for ramen and saw this recently opened, so I made my way over. It's more fast casual with table service and works well. I'm immediately seated and look over the options. Prices are very reasonable! Ramen was $8 and rice bowls and noodles were about a similar price. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen. It comes with pork, bean sprouts (different take), and bamboo shoots (also unique). I asked to hold the bamboo shoots and add nori, scallion, and garlic. The nori was $1 more and the other two were free toppings. It's great to customize the options as not many ramen places allow that. It arrives fairly quickly and I see the garlic. Wowzers. They're liberal with it. Perhaps a bit too much as it overpowered the broth. The noodles were excellent and pork okay (bit too fatty for my taste). Service is great and prices reasonable. I would give them a 5 based on service alone, and a 3 for the food. So I averaged my review, but there were a few issues with what they are serving now, compared to what they used to offer. On the Ramen scale in Bakersfield, I would say Kamisama has become the least authentic. While the flavor is still good enough, they have washed away the iconic things that make Ramen and Ramen houses so good. The quality has diminished, but the singular front of house staff was kind. I went at 1230 on a Monday, no other customers were in the dining area, and no one else came in while I was there. Food: For $10 I ordered the Tonkotsu and added (for an additional cost) Tempura shrimp and a boiled egg. (Final cost around $15) It already comes with 2 slices of Char-siu Pork, Bean sprouts, and Bamboo shoots. The broth was lacking some flavor and tastes like it was made from a base, and not from scratch as before. The Tempura shrimp was dipped all the way into my broth, which made them soggy, and it had a freezer burned quality to it. They do not offer a soft boiled egg option; It's hard boiled only. Finally, I asked for hot sauce and the server brought me Sriracha. I followed up and asked for chili oil, which used to be on the tables with other condiments, to which she replied they don't have. There's no spicy options, and there's no upping your heat level. The only other condiment was soy sauce. Service: Zero complaints. She was So kind and so friendly. She brought everything quickly and I could see her checking my table with a glance frequently. I really hope they can up their game in regards to the quality of the ramen. Compared to the other Ramen options in town, but if you like a mellow vibe, and basic Ramen, give them a shot. read more

Had a young gentleman serving me who never checked up on me, he left and then had a waitress took over and she seemed very nice but I was at the end of my meal at that point. Ordered gyozo for an appetizer and absolutely no color and was still cold, needed salt as well. I had the pork ramen, the chaschu pork was tender and delicious, the broth was delicious but was barely hotter than room temp. I did add bamboo, an egg(the egg is just a hard boiled egg, no ramen eggs here) and the fish cake. The noodles are good with a chew but are more of a udon noodle than ramen, not my preference. In total with service, price and quality, probably won't be back but it is close to work so maybe if I ever see a good lunch deal I'll try again. read more

Then made it a combo with garlic rice and 3pc gyoza. My only complaint it that the broth was a tad too salty for me, however maybe that's just because of my option of broth that I chose. First time coming here, I got the shoyu ramen bowl. I think for being a ramen place over here in Bakersfield it's pretty good. I won't say it's better than the ones in Los Angeles, but I will say they do try at their ramen. The reason for the 4 stars is because the noodles themselves were soft and easy to go down. The shoyu broth was a bit salty but overall appetizing. The chashu slices seems to be boil down to the point of evaporation, and though it may sound horrible, the moment the slice of pork went in my mouth it melted in my mouth sending delicious shockwaves down my throat. The restaurant itself was on the "ehh" side. It wasn't like a traditional ramen shop, but I will say when I went around early afternoon it was pretty empty. This Ramen is legit. Been my go-to Ramen place for years. The tonkotsu broth has has nice soul-warming thickness to it.

PSA: Would've given it three stars, but I'm being petty while I write this review and I don't want to lower their stats. Now don't get me wrong, the food here is good. And that's about it... Do you remember in high school going to your lab partner's house to work on a project, and your forced to eat there, and there's just this weird vibe because you felt like they didn't want to feed you but they were forced to because you were a guest. Well that's how it felt when me and my friends ate there. It was so quiet that whenever we laughed we felt bad. It's such a sad atmosphere. They had TVs but they didn't turn it on. And I know our waiter was trying to be personable, so I give him kudos! The food was good, best thing was that we ordered the Kamisama Roll which was good, but only 6 pieces though.
