The broth was excellent and the accompaniments were tasty , fresh & generous. I ordered Yum Wooden glass noodle salad, it was light, bright and delicious. We shared an order Pork Shumai that was so yummy. They also have a great happy hour. Outdoor patio seating with fan's & misters, what a treat, for our hot Bakersfield weather. Great idea for a noodle house: make it more upscale and offer wine pairings with them as well. Lots of people at the bar at about 2:30 this Thursday, watching soccer... Sat in the back ( dining room) which was quieter. Anjelica, our server, was personable. Great menu, but I wasn't so hungry so just ate from my hubby's plate (! ) The garlic edamame was really good, not overwhelming like I was afraid it would be, and the drunken noodles had a bit of a kick to them. Had dinner this evening with Friends. Personally, I am offended because I suggested this as our "Dinner of the Week". Ugh.... Our service was slow. Our server only remembered she had us in her area as we waved our two fingers to get her attention. It was a quiet night. I could see 4 other patrons in the general seating area. (Regardless- she received a Fab tip) Our food order was disappointing. Our appetizer, Crab Cakes, was greasy. TWO cakes. ?!? Our Entrees comprised of small, decimated over cooked and over sauced small servings in square bowls... ?!? 4 shrimps in our "Stir Fry". Seriously?! When a customer has multiple orders, and everyone wants to sample a little bit of this and a little bit of that... Do not expect this experience from this restaurant. Not gonna happen. I went to this restaurant when they were downtown. Good experience. I have no idea what's going on now once they've relocated to the Marketplace. Money best spent if you were to just go to the nearby Vons and pick up your own Thai or Chinese food & cook it at home. I wish we would have gone somewhere else.. 1.5 stars. We haven't eaten at this restaurant in a while. It's set in the Marketplace, which is on the opposite of town. It is a really nice atmosphere with outside dining. The menu is a little confusing and our server was very happy to help us out. We had the cashew stir fry with shrimp, fried rice, and chow mein. Our food came out quickly. It was a good stir fry. The vegetables had just the right amount of crunch. We both enjoyed the fried rice and we really liked the way the cashew nut was seasoned. Went to dinner tonight and this place has went downhill incredibly bad after years of eating at the downtown location and now here. Waitress was aggressive several times with an attitude about "are you ready to order now?" Pho came out with lukewarm broth that tasted like water, the meat was pre-cooked, and the noodle tasted like they'd been sitting in a stagnant pot of non flavored liquid all day. Being Vietnamese makes you a bit of a Pho snob but this was hands down the worst bowl of Pho ever made, waitress was embarrassed enough to take it off our bill. My friend had shrimp and noodles. Somehow the noodles tasted soggy and old but had a crunchy texture, an impossible restaurant achievement. What happened to this place? read more

My favorite Thai food in town! Lisa the bartender works harder than anyone here! She is in the zone

Gave it another try last week and same experience with gluten free, ordered it gluten free, verified at pick up and was told "it says it on the sticker" and get home and lo and behold it's not gluten free. Feels like they should take "gluten free" options for their dishes off the menu at this point as they never get it right. At least they made it right by refunding and remaking the order and throwing in their flourless chocolate cake (this was actually delicious, would come back just for this). Such a shame though since the food is really good flavor wise. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for awhile and today was the day. How I wish I would have gone anywhere else but here. First off, the prices are ridiculous for what you get. Four tempura shrimp four twelve dollars. Very small and unremarkable. Then the entree chicken mongolian style. $21.00 for about five ounces of overcooked chicken and a scoop of white rice. You would think at least the green onions would be nice and fresh and plentiful. They were not. I don't know why I even brought the leftovers home truthfully. I have been coming to this restaurant for years and I think this new place is beautiful. But boy, have they gotten pricey! My favorite item on the menu is the crab fried rice and it has gone up to a whooping $29! I mean, I know they use real crab but my goodness, I'd like to get an entree also and once you add that your bill is well over $60 and that's without drinks! I enjoyed all of my food including my espresso martini! The hubby and I will come back for another date night but with the prices I'll leave my greedy kids home lol. read more

Lovely decorated specious restaurant featuring Amazing Thai located off Ming Ave in Bakersfield. Very delicious, good service, full bar! Special mention for the Thai Basil dish with pork. Our family has been coming to the Noodle Bar for years. My husband was wanting some drunken noodle and I wanted to try their happy hour food and drinks. All our food came and quickly and was fresh. Guess I won't be ordering from Chef's Choice Noodle Bar anymore. They left off half my order, put me on hold for 15 minutes to "check with a supervisor" about what to do, and then when I called back because of being on hold so long, told me there was no supervisor and they are "too busy," so i should call back later. I ordered directly from their website, but they said because it was a 3rd party that did the delivery, I would have to go through them, even though the issue is that the restaurant left food out. I tried to go through the delivery app, and they say to contact the restaurant for any issues. This has been my go-to restaurant for years, since they were downtown, and I'm incredibly disappointed in the way they handled this. Apparently they have no problem taking people's money without providing what's been paid for. read more

Called back due to incomplete order received, young lady did not give her name, spoke over me continually forcing me to request a manager... Made reservations for 6pm on a Friday with my family and it was a pretty good spot. Cute ambiance in the reseraunt, wasn't too packed but I still recommend you call and make reservations. Good extensive menu. So depending on what your looking for, they more then likely have it. We decided to try the Cashew Nut with shrimp, Mongolian Beef, Veggie Chow Mein, Veggie Glass Noodle, and Pad Thai with shrimp. In my opinion, the STARS of the evening were the Monngolian Beed and the Veggie Glass Noodle, honestly a 10/10. So much flavor and the quality is superb. The cashew nut shrimp was very good and would have to rate a 8/10. Pad Thai and Chow Mein came in as my least favorite and would have to give it a 6.5 out of 10. We went with a deser and tried the mango sticky rice and it was very good! Warm, full of flavor, and yet again great quality. Would have to rate that a solid 8.5 out of 10. This is a much larger venue than it looks from the outside. They have a large patio area, a separate bar area and even a separate area for groups. I was greeted immediately upon arriving and sat quickly. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the mixed vegetable noodles with duck. This came in a large bowl and they didn't skimp on any item. I, unfortunately, wasn't able to finish it. It could easily be shared. Our waitress (Lisa) was friendly and attentive to our needs. We started with edamame and the tofu triangles. The edamame was basic and what we expected. The tofu triangles had a nice crunchy texture but the sauce it came with was very tasty. A nice balance of sweet and savory. We both ordered the panang curry, mine with chicken and coconut rice, my husband had tofu and white rice. We both thoroughly enjoyed the curry. I have been to this place a couple of times when they were located downtown and even though they are now closer to home I have only visited once since they are now at The Marketplace. Location is in a nice area; however, parking can be challenging sometimes. The good thing about the parking is that there's tons and you may have to park a little far, but that's okay since it's not that far of a distance. The restaurant is clean and you can tell it's a newer restaurant. It has a modern Asian look to it. They have a small private area that you can see when you walk in. We tried booking their private room for a private event and we would have to book the room for $1500 and if our party spent less then we wouldn't get the difference back, so we didn't end up booking. It wasn't something that was gonna make me feel different about this place, because I would still come and dine in w my family. The staff is always nice, the food is delicious and service is always fast. Food is a little pricier than other Thai spots in Bakersfield, but the food is worth it. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends. My only gripe is the eggplant dish doesn't have tons of eggplant. Eggplant is my favorite veggie so any time I see eggplant at any Asian restaurant then that's what I'm usually ordering. read more
