This Best Western wasn't our main hotel while we were in Austin. We flew in a day early and hung out in Bastrop, taking in it's restaurants, distilleries and breweries. So since our main hotel wasn't quite ready for us we made a leisurely stroll to this hotel for a single night. The hotel was nice and clean and the service was quite good and friendly. No complaints at all on our stay here. It was quiet all night which we can't always say as our fellow guests aren't always so considerate. read more

Ripped off. We there for a wedding and reserved as part of the wedding block - 2 rooms for $250/night for 2 nights. They botched our reservation and charged us for a "no show" for another 2 rooms for 2 nights. (We pointed it out and were told the charges would be reversed but we've haven't yet seen our credit card bill to confirm.) We learned that others at the wedding booked on-line and laid mush less. Silly us. The rooms were perfectly mediocre but the bathroom sink aerator was faulty and sprayed all over the counter with normal use. We reported it to the desk but nothing was done. On our second night, the push-button toilet wouldn't flush without lifting the lid pushing directly on the interior mechanism. We give this 2-star hotel 2 stars (rather than 1) to acknowledge the front desk staff people, who were lovely. They - and you -can do better. read more

The worse place to stay!! This establishment has no regard to customer satisfaction. They allow rooms to be filled with large amount of unruly guests in one room. They allow guests to handle food with their bare hands and allow kids to touch all of the items in the buffet with their dirty hands. Yes, I understand there are families with young children and need to have everyone in one room but when it's four adults and about four to five unruly kids that's ridiculous. The manager asked to call the office if there were issues but even when that was done, nothing changed. I will never stay at this establishment again. Worse place ever. read more

Horrible!!! We had to stay overnight for a state wide school bike race. We were in the room for approximately 10 minutes when the tv, that was working at the time, made a huge popping noise and shut off. At the same time the lights flickered and numerous other items stopped working. All the outlets we had plugged our phone in to no longer charged. The two landline phone didn't work. The alarm clock didn't work and the ac temp setting got stuck at 67 degrees (which was really cold when you sleep directly next to the wall mount near the floor which doesn't stop blowing). The staff was unable to fix any of the items and could not get us into a different room, sold out. The entire time I never spoke to anyone who was a manager. The mentioned the gentleman who came to my room was a possible manager but yet he never had a conversation with me about a refund. The next morning upon checking out I requested some form of compensation since nothing worked and our phones were now dead and we all had to sleep in sweatshirts and sweatpants with no television. They said they would have a a manger reimburse me. I then followed up two days later about not seeing a refund. They then gave me, without me agreeing to it, a $20 refund on a $230 tab. Still no manager has called me or spoken to me. I called AGAIN and they tried to claim that I had all these conversations managers (NEVER HAPPENED) and that $20 should cover ALL THE BROKEN items in the room. It doesn't. This is unacceptable and you shouldn't pay this price for a place that is not functional and not working. Stay at the Holiday Inn a few blocks down if you're smart. read more

We stayed here after a very long, tough trip. We came in late and exhausted. We were greeted at the front desk by Rolondo. He was so helpful and friendly and made checking in super fast and easy. This is a fantastic hotel off the beaten path in Bastrop. It's located in a nice, quiet neighborhood, but has easy access to restaurants. The room was clean and quite comfortable, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. A nice, hot breakfast before I had to leave - you can't beat a deal like that. Super friendly staff, free breakfast with something for everyone. Great outdoor area with swimming pool, hot tub and tables for enjoying lunch or dinner outside. Rooms with two queen beds are nice size. House keeping team did a great job! From check in, day crew and night crew our experience was fabulous! Our room had roaches. We found 2. When we called the service desk they offered to change our room but we didn't see it necessary considering it was 1030 pm and we were leaving the next day at checkout(11am) and we had our 2 yo with us who was asleep for the night....so I kindly declined and asked if I could maybe get a refund for that night (we stayed 3 nights) and he told me to talk to the manager the next day. So when I went to talk to her the next morning i was told she was out sick and that they did not offer refunds. I was then told she would talk to the manager and then give us a call to let us know what they can do and I have not heard from them. That was Wednesday July 13th 2022. We live in missouri and were our there for a work trip. Would I recommend them to a friend at this point ... probably not. read more

Not bad, but for the price seemed just ok for what we got. I think there were a lot of goings on here that weekend because when I first checked the rates here a month or so out they were a lot less (should have booked then!); then when I came back to book the prices jumped like $75 a night! Ouch! The first morning hubby didn't have much breakfast selection around 7:30 or so. He probably got there at the wrong time, but still, it would be nice to have more choices of the things offered. The second morning there was more selection, although it was just standard fare. Which is fine, as I don't expect gourmet dining, just give me some decent tasting carbs and protein and some OJ. And it was decent. Eggs, sausage gravy, biscuits, waffles, pastries, toast, etc. The room was okay. It was a larger sized room and was handicapped accessible for some reason. I don't remember reserving that but it may have been what they had. We did get early check in which was nice, as I was there for a race. The AC was fine but when it shut off it got stuffy, but if you left it running it didn't cool it down. It was ok the first night, but the night after the race, I just couldn't cool down and the AC wasn't helping. The people were friendly, but the first day the lobby smelled like a toilet.I mean seriously; I guess the bathroom stopped up or something? It was pretty bad, but was gone later in the day thank goodness. It wasn't terrible, and I would certainly stay again; I actually have a room booked for the race next year already, so will let you know how it is then! read more

Several months ago my parents were searching around for a hotel for the Formula One race in Austin. They stopped in and spoke with the friendly new owners for a while and were able to find the best rate for two rooms in town. We have had a pleasant stay with no issues. Great housekeeping and customer service have made the 3 night stay wonderful, especially on the wettest weekend of the year in TX. It is comparable to other Best Westerns I've stayed at and cleaner than some of the higher end hotels I've stayed at. Regular continental breakfast with traditional fare, cereals, waffles, and fruit...if you're looking for a 5 star breakfast you should know better than to expect it here. We had a king bed and it is SUPER comfortable....probably my favorite part :) There is low water pressure in the showers, but nothing to complain about. The hot water was all I needed after each rainy and cold day. We also had a welcome amenity with products to anticipate our needs from the owners which was unexpected and so nice. I plan to stay here for future F1 races. read more

I stayed here while visiting Bastrop for a wedding. This is a relatively new hotel. The rooms were big and the beds were comfortable, the pillows were a little firm for my taste. Everything was very clean, housekeeping did a great job every day. The shower is nice and big, bring your own soap if you are picky about it. The Breakfast was good, I had biscuits and gravy every morning! The staff was friendly and helpful; however, 2 of the 12 rooms that the wedding guests booked had problems with their reservations. There was a tray on the front desk that was for fresh baked cookies, but they never made any for the 3 days I stayed there, maybe its only Monday through Thursday. Overall I was satisfied with my stay and the cost. I would stay here again if visiting Bastrop. read more

The service from the front desk was lacking. Where is the southern hospitality in Texas these days? Some people and places have it but few and far between. (The girl was on her cell phone and hardly put it down to help us) The room was clean but things like the bathroom door that would not close and poor water pressure kinda make it "blah". I didn't even bother with getting the breakfast there. Checked out early and bounced to a nicer hotel but this place is what it is... Horrible experience - A/C and in-room fridge are as noisy as anything...the A/C unit started making a loud buzzing noise at 4am that sounded exactly like an alarm clock. Not fun. The housekeeping staff seems to start cleaning rooms at 8 or 9am. They are VERY noisy in the hallway, and kept trying to come into the room, despite the fact that we had the do not disturb sign on the door. If you want a roof over your head, this place is great - if you actually want to sleep, try another hotel. read more

I'm surprised to see reviews from as far back as 2010. I thought it was a new hotel, perhaps no more than a year old at most. They had me fooled, so I would say that's a good thing. The place is very clean and has a "new" vibe to it. The carpet, the walls, the bedspreads all seemed very new as if the place had just been remodeled or built. No funky, old school, stale hotel room dated vibe here. The had cookies at the front desk in the afternoon when we checked in, and the guy at the check-in desk was friendly, and helped us find a Mexican restaurant to eat at. They also have where you can buy little dishes of ice cream and candy bars for like a $1.00. This was pretty awesome when we came in late at night from the concert we went to. Being able to buy a candy bar (they keep them in a cooler just the way I like them) for the same price as I would at a gas station was pretty awesome. You just pick out what you want and pay for it at the front desk. I found the bed completely comfortable, but I can pretty much sleep anywhere. My husband on the other hand, didn't care for the bed very much. It was a little too hard for his liking. Also the glowing lights on the in room fridge bothered him during the night, so he had to cover them up with a towel. I found the room to be very quiet, but I stayed on a weekday night, and the hotel wasn't busy at all. The continental breakfast is standard roadside chain hotel/motel fare. Bagels, toast, assorted cereals, yogurt, biscuits/gravy, powdered scrambled eggs, bacon. They have a juice machine with chilled cranberry juice which totally made my morning, and made it worth getting up by 9:30 am for breakfast. The breakfast area was clean, even the waffle iron. Maybe not the best place I've stayed, but far far far far from the worst. The price was very reasonable for a new and very clean room with breakfast included. Maybe someone picky about a softer bed (like my husband) might not be fully satisfied, but I'm a seasoned hotel guest, especially the roadside travel motels, and for the price, I thought it was quite nice, and one of the nicer (chain roadside) hotels I have stayed in for under $75 for the room. The Hampton or Comfort Suites might be nicer with fluffier beds, but they are about $75-90 more in price. read more

Stayed here for a couple of nights during the week in July. The room was very nice, there were a couple of minor problems (dial broken on the in-room fridge temp aduster) but nothing I had to talk to management about. Beds were comfortable. In the Texas heat, the AC quickly got the room down to sub-freezing temps. You could tell this was a fairly new hotel, everything looked nice and barely used. Every room has a mini-fridge and a microwave...nothing fancy, but you can definitely use them to store groceries or drinks and heat up popcorn or microwave meals. The staff was very efficient and engaging, nice people. The breakfast was below average. Eggs from a mix, bacon microwaved, everything else average. If you just want to grab an apple or bagel and go, or make waffles, it's fine. Nothing more substantial. The "manager's reception" was a joke. A bag of chips and bowl of salsa. I'm not making it up. Plus cans of cheap beer and soft drinks. It's free but don't think you are going to have anything on the level of a meal, it's munchies (and not very quality munchies) at that. Location was very close to downtown and the state park, maybe a 5-10 minute drive at most, right off the highway,. Located near several places to eat (Chilis, Panda Express, Chinese Buffet) within walking distance and a couple miles away from a Wall Mart...not to mention not one, not two, but three liquor stores pretty close. All your needs should be taken care of in that regard. All in all, I would stay here again. read more

This was a horrible experience. We started out with a room that had the a/c unit leaking all over the carpet and it was soaking wet. As we were in town for a wedding we had no time to switch rooms that evening. The next morning we were off to events and let the 2 people at the desk know. We returned many hours later and the nice lady who was now working had no idea what we were talking about. Went upstairs to find a dehumidifier plugged in. The floor was worse than the night before. The lady at the front was very nice and moved us to the room right next door. Well the fridge didn't work, luckily we just had sodas to put in the fridge. We used the ice bucket and stuck 2 sodas in their for the morning and put it inside the fridge. Also, there was a nice crack/water damage in the ceiling. Thinking nothing of this even being on the top floor. We let the lady at the desk know the next morning while running to wedding events about the fridge. We returned many hours later after the wedding. At this point our keys don't work. I return downstairs (the nice lady was now working the night shift), and let her know the issue. She fixed the cards and back up I went. I found out she had put the previous room number not ours. I headed back downstairs and finally after this time we got into our room. The last morning there were bad rain storms, remember that crack? It started pouring rain through that crack in the ceiling. For being a newer hotel this is unacceptable. I did get a refund for 1 night out of the 3 we stayed today. I would never stay here again! It was too much of a nightmare with all the events we had going on. read more

We stayed here for the Tough Mudder. The girl working the front desk was very friendly. The continental breakfast was fairly standard. The beds were comfy. A couple of things worth mentioning. For some reason, there were a lot of dead bugs (crickets, grasshoppers) on the carpet. I counted at least half a dozen. Not sure why. Plus the walls are fairly thin as some late night "activities" from our next door neighbor kept my wife up most of the night. Overall it wasn't a bad hotel. I've stayed in worse. This place was awful. We had a rather large room block reserved for a wedding party and everyone had a bad experience. When we first arrived there were so many birds under the overhang and flying about that we had to dodge them in order to get into the hotel lobby. I checked in and asked for a rollaway crib for my baby and they came back with a raggedy playpen which they had no fitted sheet for. Later that day I took my baby to go see the pool. IT WAS GROSS and overflowing and non usable. You would think they would of gotten it in working order seeing it was summer and they knew they had a large wedding party arriving. THE REAL issue was on our 2nd night there, at 3:30am in the morning, two drunk people came into our room using a key! They left quickly once we yelled but it woke up the baby. In the morning I reported it to the front desk and they seemed less than concerned that they gave someone else a key to my room. I suggested they check id before just giving keys out. On the day we were leaving the lady at the front desk had the NERVE to approach my father (who spent a lot of money at this hotel) and complain to him that other members of our wedding party had taken a couple of the pool chairs out of the pool area and that he needed to put them back. EXCUSE ME! MAYBE YOU SHOULD OF HAD THE POOL AREA OR LOBBY OPEN FOR PEOPLE TO ACTUALLY USE! OR MAYBE YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING AND PUT THEM BACK YOURSELF!!! Overall way overpriced hotel with no maintenance & horrible customer service. Don't stay here. read more

My stay at this place was horrible. It's a smoke free hotel, and I know this. They charged me $300.00 because they said I smoked in the room. I did smoke a cigarette at the pool and put it in a Sprite can, then took it to my room. Which should be on their video camera of the pool. The next day the cleaning lady said my room smelled of smoke and found my can. (I use a e-cig in doors!) I asked for another room on Saturday evening, so it wouldn't happen again. On Monday morning I asked the general manager to go smell the first room. When she opened the door it had already been rented. The general manager said they had to steam clean the curtains and carpet, wash the bedspread. I don't believe this was done in one day and on a weekend. The hotel wasn't even close to being full. Parking lot was only half full. So I got screwed for $300.00 for what they said I did. And you can't do a dang thing about. Please stay anywhere but here. AND the electricity went out on Sunday night from 2:30 to 4:30, it was so hot, myself and other hotel guests had to go outside. Would they compensate anybody for our inconvenience. Of course not! Very disappointed. First room had a leaking ac unit that soaked the floor. They put a fan to dry it and after being gone 12ish hours it was still soaking wet so we changed rooms. After changing rooms we discovered the fridge wasn't working and then after laying down discovered an old leak in the ceiling. The following morning it was pouring rain outside so we woke up to drip drip drip from the leak in the ceiling. read more

This motel takes advantage of those who were flooded out of there homes. I was charged 527.00 for 1 night with 1 king bed. They double charged our credit card. The staff was rude and unaccommodating. I thought it was just the one I had on the phone at the time, but the second one was the same. The stock answer was, "we don't offer that" They don't offer late check out, they don't offer early check in, they don't offer cots. The breakfast was awful. Our floor had no hot water, and there seemed to be no urgency about fixing it. The plumber was here the day before, either they didn't check to ensure the problem was fixed, or they knew it wasn't and didn't let the guests know. I checked in in the evening, I should have been told I do not recommend this hotel. I had a corporate rate that changed when I made changes to my reservations and the staff wouldn't even discuss it with me read more

Overall experience was just OK, which is not what I was expecting. Room & bed were comfortable including A/C. Could not adjust temp of refrigerator, and it was too cold. It froze everything. Switch on desk lamp was broken. Had to unplug lamp to turn it off and on. Best Western advertises being a green hotel. We left towels on racks to be reused, but they were replaced anyway. Everyday housecleaning threw away partially used bottles of shampoo & bars of soap in the shower - a big waste. Toilet had a leak in it and kept refilling constantly - a big waste of water. Shower flow restrictor was so restricting that water flow was not strong enough. Water in bathroom sink never got hot. Curtains in room had red fingernail polish stains on them. The placemat on the desk was torn. The top was separated from the bottom making it impossible to use. Internet speed in room was so slow and unavailable most of the time. Only reliable connection was in lobby. The soft drink machine was empty the whole time we were there - 3 days. All that was available was Diet Coke. Good for me, but not my family. Breakfast is served from 6:00 until 9:30. We were in the breakfast room at 8:45 and they were out of eggs and orange juice but not once did anyone check on the food. No one refilled anything the whole time we were there. I was disappointed in my visit. Most likely, I will stay at the Holiday Inn Express next time even though it's more expensive unless these items are corrected. read more

I stayed at this location with a friend for a wedding in town. I was sent an updated invoice after checkout stating that I have been charged for smoking in my room. I called to let him know that this is a mistake because neither I, nor the other guest, are smokers. I was laughed at by the general manager Charles Adeniken. He proceeded to call me a liar and make claims that he has ways to "prove" I am a smoker. I continued to attempt to let him know that this was a mistake. He then decided to hang up on me. I contacted the corporate Customer Care department. Each representative I spoke with would not give me any information besides their first name (no last name, title, contact information). I spoke with 4 separate representatives each claiming that they were the previous' supervisor. They would not budge on the charge due to their "policy" about this location being independently owned and operated. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and Chamber of Commerce. I have also personally written the Board of Directors and Customer Care department. I have yet to hear a response. read more
