Probably the best thing about this Holiday Inn experience was that they were hosting site for kind of a kinky or fetish seminar that involved all sorts of educational things regarding this last April when we went. It was the primary purpose why we did this trip to Austin. There were lots of classes and vendors that sold the themed merchandise here and everything was discreet and well managed for guests who had no interest in this seminar. We bought a lot of things from the vendors from shirts (leather) , accessories and more. The classes on various topics on kink were covered and it ranged from various content on the overall umbrella here. This primarily brought in a lot of gay men and it felt like the gays took over the hotel which was cool because it's not a feeling of being a majority in this setting comes into play often. Despite the seminar being themed like this we are actually pretty plain people but we appreciate everything about it. I want to give big kudos to the Holiday Imn for hosting this as it's definitely something some hotels would shy away from but it went well as far as we know. We went to a Breakfast Buffet several times we were here because we were given tickets for it for being guests here during the event. Our room was very nice. The accommodations are OK, and the staff have been fine. But... I've been here for five days for a convention it's Sunday and the bar and the restaurant, which has a very limited menu, are closed today. And it's very hot and we don't have a car. So we checked out the "grab and go", which apparently hasn't been restocked in the entire time we have been here. Nothing but snacks (chips, etc.) and frozen food. No salads or sandwiches or anything like real food. Just frozen food. But NOTHING for vegetarians. And the WiFi is very poor. Pages took a long time to load. It's a simple little Holiday Inn next to the local community college. It's clean and the staff is all friendly. They are super proficient behind the desk. I don't think I've seen another place get so many customers checked-in so quickly. I'd stay here again. The rooms are your typical three-star hotel types. Small, nothing special, but clean and organized. I've seen pretty much all their conference rooms, they have a variety of sizes and they're all nice. Lots of chairs available and there's plenty of space to cram in a bunch of folks if needed. The outside is pretty nice. Out the back of the building there's a big area with plenty of tree coverage to lounge under. The pool nearby is kept clean, but it could use a bit more shade. Housekeeping is swift and consistent. Worst hotel! Front desk was nice, but other than that it is terrible. The hotel is wayyy outdated. It feels very crammed and filthy inside. The room is supposed to be "smoke free", but as soon as we stepped in the elevator to our floor and room, we could smell the strong smoke/weed scent. The bed and room was dirty. For $120 a night, you can get something better. The pictures and the reviews can be deceiving lol. The shower had mold. We could barely breathe the air felt dirty. Was in town for my daughter's school competition at UT. Went to check in at 3 after the event, only to be told that no rooms were available. Verified that 3pm was check in time, front desk clerk told me yes starts at 3 but he's got no rooms available because they were fully booked the night before. Isn't the expectation the same whether or not the business was full? Check in time at 3? There was a lobby full of customers waiting. I heard the front desk tell a couple he's taking down names and blocking rooms for them when it became available. That was news to me because he didn't even ask me my name when I attempted to check in, just told me there were no rooms available despite having a reservation. When I returned to the desk to ask about this "list" he had, he said he just started it and I pointed out that he's not even asking people's names when they try to check in. I gave him my name and he rolled his eyes at me in front of other customers. I asked him not to do that to his customers. He repeatedly told customers he couldn't do anything about the rooms not being ready and no manager was available to help resolve this issue until Monday. Individuals and families have plans for the weekend, things to do and places they have to be at a certain time. Plans are altered because this business failed to deliver. And a having a front desk attendant that doesn't escalate the situation is not the best solution. Plans and money are wasted. And in this economy, that's huge!! Very disappointed. For a conference gathering, it was sufficient. For a hotel room? The maintenance is UNimpressive. My desk chair had a detachable armrest that couldn't be fixed. The wi-fi is so bad that I was kicked out of an important one-hour Zoom call THREE times. Keurig, which most folks like, is totally not OK for tea drinkers. No microwave. Most of the available outlets in the room didn't function. I had to charge my phone in the bathroom and not where I was working. (Had to choose between my laptop and my phone getting electricity.) Fridge wasn't plugged in. The room phone didn't work-- no dial tone at all. The toilet runs on a bit, and the sink handles need some serious WD-40 so they work more easily. BUT... My room seemed clean. I appreciated the Dove bath products in "green" reusable bottles. Jeremy (hotel employee) was just LOVELY-- helpful and seemingly everywhere. The layout of the hotel worked for our needs. There were lots of nooks and rooms inside and out for meetings and gatherings. I may (need to) return, but I'm hoping to see improvement. read more

Not sure why, but i was surprised how nice this hotel was! There's plenty parking outside. The front desk attendants I encountered were a delight. The beds were nice and comfy! It was a cheap and short uber ride into downtown. Also, i was having bad allergies and they had some allergy meds for me to choose from, free! The breakfast buffet was ok. I have stayed at alot of IHG hotels in town and this is definitely highly recommended. The front desk staff are friendly, efficient and checkin is super easy after a long day of travel. The onsite bar that offered dinner selections was perfect. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup with fries. In the soup I could taste the roasted flavor on the chicken and this is pretty good considering its COVID 19 time and so many businesses are not able to offer the usual fare from their menu. The location is very convenient with plenty of parking onsite. The morning grab and go breakfast was hot breakfast tacos, croissant sandwich with juice or coffee. Private Balconies! wow, I was not expecting that when I booked this property so it was such a cool surprise to pull back the curtains in our room and see that. Checking in was quick, the agent was friendly with a helpful demeanor and I was able to modify my room from a double queen to a king because my traveling party changed sizes. The property felt lively, there is a conference area onsite and folks were mingling in the bar when I arrived. Three guest elevators in the lobby made the trip up to the room easy. Once in, the room was quite large, with a lot of room for bags. I appreciate that there are tables with outlets and lamps on each side of the bed, as other hotels do not always consider that both people sleeping in the bed will need to charge their devices. I'm in the middle of my second stay at this hotel. My first 1-night stay for a business trip was fine - the room seemed a little worn but the breakfast buffet that came with the State rate was good and there was nothing concerning about the stay. I'm here again for a 2-night stay because my Father has been inpatient at St. David's and they offer a discount for families/patients. No breakfast buffet included this time, which is fine given the discounted price. However, this time I'm encountering challenges with housekeeping. After my first night I leave very early in the AM to be at the hospital, so I ask the front desk what time housekeeping is finished with the rooms and they tell me they're done by 1:30. I return to my room at 2 pm to grab a nap before going back to the hospital -- the room hasn't been cleaned. Ok, fine, whatever. Day 2: I head out to the hospital very early in the morning and plan to come back in the afternoon. This time I call ahead at 12:30ish -- I let the front desk know I'll be heading back in an hour or so and ask that it be cleaned so I can rest when I arrive. I get back to my room -- not clean. What the heck!? I honestly wouldn't have worried much about missing one night of housekeeping, but given that this appears to be a pattern I'm not pleased. I might be back for a 1-night stay in the future, but if I ever have to stay multiple nights again I'll be rethinking my hotel choice. Getting a clean room shouldn't be so hard. read more

This hotel was surprisingly humongous. It looks like a typical decent hotel on the outside but the inside is clean, well-kept, and customer service was great. The room was very spacious as well with clean sheets and great lighting throughout. I don't know why this place has received only 3 stars but I had a very comfortable stay and the breakfast buffet was pretty good. Bed Bugs!!!! Beware! This place is dirty anyway with stained carpets throughout and my bathroom was not clean. The next day, my mom noticed bug bites all over her arms (she sleeps on her side with 1 arm under the pillow) and I noticed bites on my stomach. We called the manager to report the issue so he could shut those rooms down for bed bug treatment before someone else stayed there and he denied there being a problem. We checked reviews and there were several complaints of bed bugs. We stayed on the 3rd floor, so definitely avoid unless you want to go through the trouble of boiling your clothes and treating all your luggage with diatomaceous earth like we did! The stars are for the hotel (building) itself. My wife had a conference here. The staff were excellent! They were always friendly and super helpful. This appears to be an older hotel that they have attempted a face-lift on. I thought of it as putting lipstick on a pig. There are some nice touches, but staying here for 3 nights we found there to be too many things that made our stay not pleasant. First of all, it's not in the best part of town. One person mentioned they were scared to park their car there. One night I did notice security walking around the parking lot. It is free parking. The room itself was decent. The beds were ok. The room was warm when we entered, even with the air on. We turned it down to 60 for the remaining of our stay. I did go to Target and bought a box fan the next day. The next big issue was the hotel wifi. It was some of the worse I've ever experienced. It was probably because of the conference and everyone was on it, as it picked up speed around midnight. The next problem was the shower. It was abysmal. Extremely low water pressure and very hard to find the right temperature. It also lost pressure at times while taking a shower. Also, the shower curtain was too short for the curved rod so it was hard to keep it closed. The pool was decent. Only 5+ ft. deep. It has trees all around it, so it was littered with leaves and tree junk. Not a biggie and really nothing you could do about it. The breakfast buffet was good. You could have eggs made to your liking, or you could just go straight to the pre-cooked food. I had eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, and home fried potatoes. They were good, until I added the salsa. Then they were great!! The service was also very good there. Although the service was very good, we would not stay here again. read more

I came here for a week long conference. First impressions were nice looking lobby and elevators, and workers seem friendly. I got to the room that I am supposed to share with two other people and found out that there is a policy of no pull-out beds. We would've been stuck with two double size beds for three women. Thank goodness we had brought an inflatable mattress, just in case! The other cons of the room were poor lighting and a balcony lock that didn't actually lock. (See picture). The hotel didn't provide free coffee or hot chocolate packets like most hotels do. It was quite disappointing. I came by here for a weekend conference. They have an attached conference center that makes this an all-in-one stop for groups of up to about 200 people. The hotel itself was clean and well kept, and I never had to wait in line long for anything. They have a restaurant on the far end that seemed a bit pricey, so I'd go to one of the many other places around the area (it's near a mall) to grab a meal. Their grab-and-go near the bar did have reasonably priced items, though. The conference center was solid. They were able to accommodate all of our needs extremely well. The catering was spectacular, the rooms were well-kept, and it was an impressive experience all around. read more

So far so bad. First of all we arrived late on our flight an hour and they still were unable to place us in our room for another THREE HOURS! Second, the ice machine on the 3rd and 4th floor (our floor) were BOTH broken, I was advised to travel to the 7th floor for ice. The phone is broken (can only call front desk) , although the front desk lady did put in a work order for someone to come look at it which was nice. Whoever answered room service phone was not the nicest for 8AM. Probably because we kept trying to figure out how to call. HOWEVER THE STAFF HERE IS VERY VERY NICE, FRIENDLY AND SEEMINGLY TRYING TO BE HELPFUL. Seems like the owners just really need to fix the place us. Shower was kind of janky too. read more

Jonathon greeted me as if we had been friends for years! I travel a great deal for work and often enough the desk staff are not very receptive, of course Jonathon does not fit that model. That goes to the rest of the hotel. The grounds are terrific and the pool is lovely. I found the lounge was well apportioned, and it was clear that Jonathon's attitude was shared by the bartender and the hotel staff. There is a mall near by and other amenities to spend your day at, but the real reward is coming back at the end of the day to the friendly staff and upscale amenities. I'll be back. read more

Checking in was fast and simple. There was a folk convention happening during my stay and the staff was thoughtful enough to put me on a floor without the people attending so my room was nice and quiet. The room was clean and the bed was really comfortable. Plenty of room and a balcony which was nice! 69th Review! Nice! I got to stay a night at the Holiday Inn Austin Midtown last week, and I was blown away by how nice this location was. Considering the central location to so many cool spots to shop and eat, the fact that they go above and beyond to make this place stand out speaks highly of them. My room was perfect. It had an amazing view of the town, and opened up with a cool balcony. I also really enjoyed sitting outside by the pool. The kind lady at the desk gave me some great tips on places to go for food, and pointed me in the direction of delivery options. I really appreciated that. Hopefully I can stay again, because I definitely want to get back down to Austin soon. read more

This was my first time staying at this Holiday Inn in Austin and it was walking distance to venue I need to get too. Loved this place because when I asked for a handicapped room they gave me an an amazing corner room with a real tub(not a hard plastic tub but a big fat porcelain tub and excellent adjustable shower with hand rails everywhere. The beds actually helped get a painful kink out of my back and made me free of my walking cane for the next two days. The restaurant on premises offers a level of convenience not often found in urban hotels. Restaurant service all day with good quality food and choices. Wife and I celebrating (late) our 22nd anniversary this weekend. First stop, Austin. This was a nice hotel, just in a crappy neighborhood. Think Valley View mall meets Skillman Street apartments. There was literally a mall behind us that was closed and isolated. When you get inside, you definitely don't feel this hotel pretty much is located in a wasteland. When we checked in, there was an issue with our reservation. Hotels.Com's definition of the "standard" room's bed size was "bed". I called and the guy said we would have a king. We get there and they tell us all their king rooms were booked. I was very nice and expressed that wasn't good enough for me and showed my confirmation with the king bed noted. After a little hustle and bustle, we got our room with the king bed. Sorry, I am married. We don't sleep on (2) double beds. All in all though, it was a place to sleep. Bed was OK comfy wise. Good flow in shower. No breakfast unless you order in advance and for the $$$, not worth it. read more

Oh and the wifi password is simply 'austin'. Stayed in 712. The room was cute, dainty. It had two full sized beds rather than queens or a king. Loved the fact that we had a balcony!!! I think it's standard, but yea - totally neat. The parking is disastrous after 10pm. Meaning be ready to walk. I've stayed here twice in two weeks. There was some very good and some not so great. Lets start with the good. The rooms were spacious, nice decor and lighting. Plenty of outlets for charging electronics. The bed, pillows and linens better than expected. The hotel looks great. It's modern and clean throughout. The not so great. On the first stay the television didn't work. I were too tired on a late arrival to change rooms once I realized it. When I notified staff no response or apology. I hope it was addressed but couldn't tell from desk clerk. The breakfast was over priced but the worst part was the quality. I didn't anticipate top notch food but this was pathetic. The eggs were ice cold along with the coffee. I overheard other tables mention it to the waitress and still when she brought my coffee it too was literally cold. Most of the items on the breakfast line were not fit for health code conditions. On the second stay I planned not to eat there but received a free voucher from hotels.com. What the heck lets see if it's better. It was better this time hot coffee, eggs were hot. The oatmeal was looking pretty bleak still along with questionable fruit. This visit I arrived in the non smoking room to the strong smell of smoke, stuffy hot and air conditioning that did not work at all. After swapping rooms at 1:00am just dragging in from a red eye flight I found a room that was in proper condition. It was a wonderful nights sleep finally. There is promise here and if they could find some consistency this would be a highly recommended hotel. Currently it is wildly inconsistent and I split the difference with a 3 star review. The value here is very good first night I paid 100.00 on a Thursday night. On the return it was only 52.00 on hotels.com plus free breakfast. For that price even with the problems it's a great deal. I'd love to see a hotel that is so close to getting right take that next step. read more

Room was dirty from the seat at the desk, to the nightstand, and even the bathroom. The personnel are very nice and welcoming. We booked a room with a roll in shower because we need one - one of us is paralyzed and uses a wheelchair. Room wasn't ready when we arrived at check in time. Then we were given a room with a bathtub. He CANNOT get into a tub. Then the front desk staff argued with us about how an accessible room with a bathtub is ADA complaint. Ok sure, but we need a roll in shower. Like we booked. Then they gave us a new room with a step getting into the shower. Yup, still can't use that shower. Asked to talk to a manager- Jessica was not helpful and not apologetic. She and her co worker Gina said it was our fault for booking online because the hotel doesn't communicate with online bookings so they couldn't guarantee us a roll in shower like we had booked. Bottom line- we were not treated with respect or compassion. Avoid this hotel. read more

Affordable with terrific, friendly service in a good location for restaurants and access to locations north of downtown (avoiding the 35 traffic). Recently renovated, modern looking rooms. Great bar service but small. Excellent and efficient breakfast buffet. Comfortable beds with great workspace in room. Balconies, some with a nice view--I enjoy watching the traffic on 35 and 290 or around the corner, the UT Clocktower and downtown. Golds gym right across the street! Comfortable beds, fridge and large desk available. Elevators show hotels age but the rooms seem remodeled and great lighting. Restaurant is unmarked and down long corridor, good luck finding it. Hotel gym is paltry. Shopping mall next door is vacant so a bit eerie feeling with neighborhood but I would stay here easily again for business. Hardest, most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on, the closet door doesn't shut, there was a lamp shade on the floor when I walked in, and I don't know where it goes, bedside lamp is broken, the pillows and shower curtain smell like they need washed, there was hair in the fruit at the breakfast buffet and the staff just said "ok" and didn't change it out when I told them. The ice machines don't work on the 3rd and 4th floors. Very thin walls-I can hear the person next to me using the bathroom and their music. The guy at the front desk is nice though. read more

I've never stayed in a Holiday Inn Express, but this is all I could find under $300 on last minute notice on this spring break week. thankfully, it was just a one night stay for a morning UT tour with my daughters. First the positive, the gentleman at the front desk was very nice. The negatives: stained blanket, holes in the sheets, no coffee, phone didn't work, AND we found bedbugs. Very mediocre. Rooms are pretty beat up. Ceiling above our shower was leaking heavily. It started leaking at 11pm. Hotel moved us to another room. We had to pack up everything and relocate. They put us in an even more beat up room with a bathroom that had mildew all over. No compensation for the hassle of waking up, packing up all of our stuff and relocating. There's construction going on near the hotel. Seems like it's worse on the even number room side of the hotel. No fans in the bathroom. It's like a sauna when you shower.
