Outstanding customer service from the night manager to the day manager of 12/23/18. We had left a hotel, Super 8 of Oceanside, 20 minutes prior on the 22nd because it was filthy, not taken care of, holes in the wall and bed bug stains on the bed. At the Best Western Palms of Oceanside, it was very well taken care of, nice paint, clean and a very pleasant staff! We had even left food our room refrigerator and the manager retrieved it and held at the front desk! Thank you for you excellent customer service! read more

The staff and manager were very accommodating. The free breakfast (Denver omelette, Hillshire like sausages) were not good, but I do not judge a hotel by "free" breakfast. They do have flaky waffles, cereal, and pastries for those who prefer it. We loved the room setup, TV, window, shower, and being located near the pier... (more on that) Not thrilled about the hard water, lack of freezer space, and my wife didn't like the bed (too hard?). The location was difficult as well. A beautiful hotel located between a homeless infested Motel 6 and some other low end cop visited hotel. Also hard to access if you're headed North on N. Stayed here again and had another amazing vacation. Maricella and Eunice greeted us each morning with a wonderful breakfast and they were very friendly. Weekdays we had omelets, bacon, or waffles. Weekends were eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Every day there was a choice of coffees (vanilla or regular creamer), drinks, cereals, muffins, danishes, apples, and bananas. Not sure who cleaned our room, but they did a great job and I'm very picky about clean sheets, room smells, clean bathrooms, etc... no problem here in my stays. We felt safe and had no issues parking a larger SUV. The front desk was always pleasant. It's a quick walk to the beach, pier, and restaurants. Gets an A! From the moment I arrived, it was a wonderful time. The hotel does not offer bell service (silly me), but the general manager decided to come out and help with the luggage. How awesome is that. I found that the staff was very friendly, informative and reliable. I never had a problem there. Very cordial team here. Things to know about this hotel: 1. This was once a Motel 6, from what I heard. it was converted years ago into a Best Western and, this year, its new look was reintroduced, bumping it up to a Best Western Plus. Best Western has three hotel types in its repertoire: the standard hotel with general amenities; Plus, which offers more upscale decor, larger rooms, a hot breakfast and is especially well-tuned for business or leisure travel; and Premier, which are the chain's elite, higher end hotels with personalized services and more extensive features and amenities. 2. No parking fee, a pool and a hot breakfast? Sweet! They also have washers and dryers on site, $1.50 per load each. They even sell detergent. They also have a little side shop near reception for snacks and toiletries. And they have vending on the second floor. 3. The rooms run smaller -- I couldn't find the square footage. I went with the king suite with a kitchenette, which came with a microwave, refrigerator and stovetop. There was also a flat screen television in the room, which I never used. But all this is a sweet addition, especially when you have a longer stay and have no interest in eating out every single meal of the day. Also, the room had a cute little nook for eating, and a desk for work. Bathroom was nice and tidy -- standard. Oh! Low-flow toilets, yea! No jet streamed tub, but very nice. 4. You'll want to go for the third floor rooms at the very back of the hotel. It's a trek from the front (FYI: there is wraparound parking, so not problematic if you don't often need to chat with reception, but the back end elevator had not yet been installed when I arrived), but it offers the best views. Much of the beach view is obstructed by short hotels and vacation rentals, but you can still see the water from your room, and even an awesome sunset! 5. The hotel is located blocks from the beach. But you will want a bike or a car. There is no easy, direct route to the beach because of the train tracks and a gentle slopping hill. You have to walk a few blocks over, then several blocks down to reach the beach. 6. The hotel still uses wall-mounted units for heating and cooling. But the one in my room was robust! Keep the room nice and chilly. 7. Free WIFI, but it was so, so very slow. I had tons of connectivity issues while I was there. And this was for general browsing, not streaming back to back episodes of anything. But, overall, yes -- this was one of my favorite traveling experiences. With a gorgeous hotel, beautiful beaches, delicious eats and fun activities nearby, I have not a single serious complaint. read more

Off the main downtown area of Oceanside by about ten minutes by foot, this place offers a decent place to rest one's weary head. It's also about ten minutes away by foot from the beach. The area around is quiet and this hotel has done its best to isolate its grounds from the other hotels around. With palm trees, various outdoor areas to sit, a pool, and a unique outdoor fire pit, it creates a small oasis where one can relax. We came here for a family wedding. We stayed four nights total. The room was decent with all the commodities one could want. Our room had a fridge, microwave, iron, hair dryer, and plenty of plugs to charge your electronics. The bathroom was a bit cramped, perhaps the only aspect I didn't like, with small counter space and shelving within the actual shower. Other than that, the bed was soft and comfortable and for the most part the evenings were quiet. On our first night, we had one family with a screaming child running up and down the hall but luckily that was only for 15 minutes and not at the fault of the hotel. They offer a breakfast every day from 6 to 9 on the first floor. They also have a vending machine area on both the 1st and 2nd floor for those that might get the midnight munchies. In addition, they have a small store with basic snacks, drinks, and toiletries to get one through in a pinch. Overall, the staff was pretty helpful. As we mostly used this place as a spot to sleep, it served the purpose we needed it for. It was also much more agreeable to stay here for our budget compared to some of the hotels downtown. I'd stay here again if I was visiting family. The last thing I'll mention is that they have an In and Out across the street from it that comes in handy if you want something quick to eat. read more

I walked in here and sat in the lobby less than a half hour to charge my phone so I could check reviews for this hotel and transfer money to my bank account for payment. First of all, the lobby is not much larger than a bathroom with tacky, cheap looking, uncomfortable furniture. The staff were watching the lobby TV and only after 20 minutes did they think to put the remote back so customers can see what they want. They also ignored me when I walked in. When I tried asking about rates/rooms the only person to make eye contact was a small, dishevelled, poorly dressed man with no name tag or anything to indicate he worked there. He was just staring at me relaxing on the customer side of the reception desk. He quoted me over $400 for 2 nights which is frankly ridiculous for a budget hotel chain outside of a major city. I said I wanted to check review sites while charging my phone which was another 10 minutes. With no one else in the lobby and a mostly empty motel, he demanded I leave the premises immediately for sitting in the lounge checking info on it on the internet(consider my time there was less than a half hour). He also refused to show me a room first. This rude character ranks in my bottom 10 ever encountered for business managers at hotels or restaurants. The area is also sketchy with a strip club nearby and fast food across the street(motel is not on the beach)=no nice atmosphere compared to a nice hotel on the beach. NOTE: This street where several motels and a strip club are all located near each other is known for drugs and prostitution based on my research on the area. I strongly urge tourists and families avoid this street entirely. It is possibly acceptable for businesspeople, adult singles/ couples etc but not families and tourists. read more

Absolutely the best get alway hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean. The pool and Jacuzzi nice and warm on the cold weekend we stayed with towels by the pool. A nice breakfast with a large hot and cold selection. The hostess is wonderful, has a continuous warm smile and ready to help. The very very best part of this hotel is their service. The front desk is outstanding. My husband and I have stayed at many 4 star hotels and this Best Western beats them all in customer service. I highly recommend staying here. read more

This was our second visit to this property and this visit proved to be 1000% better than our first. Don't get me wrong, the facility deserves 4 stars as does most of the staff. We just had an incident the first visit that did not sit well with us but management talked us into giving them another chance and it paid off. The property is large with a huge parking lot and several rooms on each of the 3 floors. Rooms have been updated and most have nice showers without the stupid tubs. Does anyone still take a bath at a hotel? Gross! We are Diamond Members of Best Western and they treated us that way. In fact all staff were kind and went out of there way to make our stay enjoyable. As with most Best Western Hotels a hot breakfast is included. There is a good selection of food items and drinks and we managed to enjoy what they had each day. We have stayed in a lot of the Best Westerns over the years as we average almost 50 hotel stays a year. This Best Western ranks in the top 10% of the Best Western's we have visited. Not a JW Marriott but also much nicer than the Motel 6. The Best Western Plus Oceanside Palms is well deserving of a 4 star review. read more

Stayed for 1 night, and checked in late. The guy at the hotel desk and the security were both clearly on drugs. Then one of them left a post-it note on our door with his number and a message to my wife saying to "hit me up". Completely unprofessional and trashy. The next morning I brought it up to a different man and woman at the desk and they did NOT seem to care or take it seriously. Stayed here for a weekend trip. Me & my friends were very happy. From the staff at check in/ check out, to the cleanliness of the room we stayed in. Everything was great. It was comfortable, a great walking distance from the beach and so many restaurants. Parking was so easy and available. The staff was extremely happy and friendly. Stayed here recently, for the price not bad but there are some issues we had with the experience. The beds are not comfortable at all and on top of that they move around everytime yii move or get up for some reason they dont have anything on the bottom of the mattress to keep it to the platform surface of the bed, they havin parking lots right outside of windows so if ur on the first floor u can expect people to wake you up of you dont park your car in front of your window, and even with all the lights on in the room, it still felt extremely dark. The good points are the fridge in the room works great and keeps stuff very cold, the breakfast there is good and plentiful and plenty of parking. Will we come back to this hotel probably not just because the cons out way the pros. If they got better beds then probably give it another try but otherwise not going to happen. read more

I called before booking and specifically asked if they had an ADA room with a roll in shower on the FIRST floor and was told yes. Upon arrival, my room was on the THIRD floor. I still got my roll in shower, but would have been stuck in an emergency. Disappointed. Also, I called a few days before my stay and specifically asked if they had a rubber no-slip shower mat and was told yes, they do. And after testing and seeing that their shower floor was in fact slippery, I requested one, only to be told that they don't have any. Disappointed. Our room keys often didn't work and we had to ask several times for them to be reset. This was most disappointing when we parked in a handicap blue spot only to be unable to get through that separate entrance. Breakfast was good. Housekeeping was good. Worst place ever. I've never once had a hotel try and preauthorize a reservation unless I didn't make it to my reservation. I made it to the hotel by 1145pm and apparently my reservation was canceled at 730pm. I worked in the hotel industry myself and the only reservations that were prepaid a night before were the 3rd party reservations. read more

We travelled to Cali on a last minute business trip and scurried around looking for a hotel at only a few days out. I looked around and the reviews for this hotel were great. Although it has been a long time since I had even considered staying at a Best Western, I knew that word of mouth recommendations should not be taken lightly. When I was much younger, my family and I would take family vacations and the Best Westerns were considered more upscale at the time. Over the years, I have found that the brand has struggled to keep up with the times. NOT THIS ONE. This hotel, somehow, has managed to find GREAT people to employ as their staff. From check in to check out, to the breakfast crew and the cleaning crew, LITERALLY EVERYONE was so kind and pleasant and helpful. I read gushing reviews like this on their Google page, but thought, surely this must be someone affiliated with the hotel and not an actual customer. Who gushes about a hotel like this? But I kid you not, the entire stay was made memorable by the wonderful staff. As for the decor, the BW has remained... traditional. The entire look of the hotel has not changed much over the years. Everything, however, was pretty tidy, and the only complaint I had that I never brought up to the staff was the slight musty odor in the room that didn't go away even after opening the window (GREAT plus!) and circulating with the air. The only reason for the four stars in case someone has issues with the smell, which I know is hard on some. read more

After previously staying at a dump in Oceanside a couple of months earlier, it was so nice to find a place that's clean, well-appointed, and full of friendly and competent staff members. We stayed here Saturday through Thursday. We enjoyed our stay and had no issues. They have laundry on site, fitness, computers, a small store, beverages available 24/7 and vending machines. The staff were all kind, but Brandon went above and beyond. My son asked if he was working every day. The breakfast was good. I recommend going before 8, as it was packed with guests. The pool is heated, but it was still too cold for March. The hot tub was great. I would stay here again, for sure. It is clean, quiet and has easy parking. read more

I was tempted to give a 3 star review, but the issues here really had nothing to do with the hotel itself. I actually got a very good rate by using the booking link on Yelp (cheaper than orbitz, Priceline, kayak, etc). When I thought that I might have to extend my stay, the front desk staff was very helpful and took the time to look up rates and availability, so I really appreciated that. The hotel itself was pretty nice. They have a cool sitting area outside with a fire pit, and the room was comfortable and clean. The shower was a bit on the small side, but the water pressure was decent and it got hot enough, so no major complaints. I wasn't able to sample the included breakfast, because I left before 6a (I know, I know), so I have no opinion there. So, what was the bad part, you may ask? Kids. The hotel was overrun with middle schoolers! There apparently was a big lacrosse tournament nearby, and I guess the Best Western Plus was hosting many of them. And as you may expect with middle schoolers- they were loud and a bit rowdy, which didn't make for an exactly peaceful stay. Not the fault of the hotel, but had I known, I may have chosen elsewhere. Recently renovated hotel w/ very comfortable rooms in a great location near both the harbor & the main streets w/ bars & restaurants. The room had all the necessities - comfy bed, tv, & small but well appointed bathroom , plus a few perks - coffee maker, fridge, & microwave. Also there are washer/dryers on each floor which is helpful for all the towels & clothes that end up being used during a week at the beach. Alright I used to go to this hotel many times when it was Motel 6. Here is what has changed: 1) Rooms are bigger. 2) No more central air-- they now have window A/C units 3) Real breakfast -- Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage Links (all nuked); make your own waffles; cereals, danishes, breads, juices, coffee. Coffee seems to be 24 hours. 4) Computer area with 3 computers and printers. 5) There is a workout room now -which had a couple of stationary bikes and treadmills, plus a universal gym. They had towels and I think water. 6) Upgraded furnishings in the rooms. 7) A lounge and an outside sitting area with a fire pit. 8) Flat screen tv in all rooms 9) They now have a mini-store, so you can buy snacks and other items. Here is what stayed the same 1) Bathrooms -- exactly the same with odd shaped bathtub shower combo 2) Pool/Hot Tub- still with a 10pm closing time, even on weekends. Other odds and ends -- I've noticed when I stayed there on a Monday night, they had free pizza in the lobby read more

Convenient location off Coast Hwy with friendly staff, updated and clean public areas including area that serves complimentary breakfast. Room was clean with coffee maker, microwave and fridge, and plenty of towels in the bathroom. Cleaning starts promptly at 10am so you'll hear vacuuming in the halls and staff talking. I decide to stay in this hotel because of good reviews but our stay was not as pleasant as I expected. First our tv remote was not working when we first came. On the following day, when we came back from our trip, we found out that our room was never cleaned. We were all tired and coming back to a nice and clean room would be reviving. Best experience I've had with a hotel! I highly recommend best western. The price was very reasonable and the rooms were very clean, comfortable and accommodating. The customer service by Brandon was exceptional! Immediately, he greeted us with great energy and was very talkative and informative. We had forgotten a couple things and all we had to do was call Brandon downstairs and he was able to accommodate us right away. He recommended we do their complimentary breakfast and my boyfriend and I were quite impressed with it since it was free. They had a decent selection and you were able to make your own waffles! Only thing was that it was a bit crowded but hey, to be expected for free food. There was plenty of parking available! The location of this hotel was amazing, the ocean and famous pier was just a mile away. There was plenty of restaurants near the beach as well. Or if you wanted a chain type place to eat Carlsbad, the surrounding city, was only 8-10 minutes away. The small city was so quiet and perfect for a mini getaway. Great stay, great price and not far from the pier/beach. Very clean, comfy and quiet. Front desk and staff are very friendly and welcoming. There is an ice cream vending machine, pool and jacuzzi. Lots of cozy areas to sit and relax in. At night there's a romantic and cozy fire pit in the front with a seating area complete with tables. The continental breakfast is a full breakfast with a plentiful supply of scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles/syrup/butter, apples/oranges/bananas, hot & cold cereal, yoghurt, juices, teas, coffee machine and muffins/pastries/bagels with cream cheese! Just reminisced about my visit to Oceanside in April and remembered that this spot is really nice, affordable, a quick drive to the beach, right next to an In-N-Out Burger (which for an east coaster is a no brainer) and most importantly, the staff was extremely friendly and cool. I stayed here a few weeks ago with my mother and it was actually a very nice setting. Surprised at how much prettier and well-kept this hotel is than the other Best Western location on Oceanside Blvd ( a total dump in comparison, imo. ) The rooms are very nice and staff here are so accommodating! I'd stay here again given a choice. Continental breakfast is served until 10. They have a Jacuzzi but I was unable to take advantage of it while I was there. Maybe next time. read more

My family and I stayed here during our trip to Legoland. We were very happy with this location we were within 15 minutes of the park, traffic was never bad though we went during the week we arrived on June 13th. and we left on Wednesday, June 16th. The rooms Were nice and clean, the staff was courteous and the complementary breakfast was decent. Staff Responded to our request quickly. One night my grandson threw up on the bed, we called the front desk and ask for new bedding and they brought it within minutes. We didn't have time to enjoy the pool. We will be returning. read more

My son was panicking telling me "mommy they're kicking us out" how freaking embarrassing and no is not cheap I paid $162 to stayed in a quiet area in Oceanside BUT IVE LEARNED MY LESSON IM NOT GIVING BEST WESTERN MY BUSINESS ANYMORE. This place was very nice. The rooms were nice and clean. We didn't expect to be staying at a hotel so it was an unexpected expense. While there was nothing extraordinary, it was nice. The only gripe I had was that we checked in at 2 a.m. and they still expected a card for incidentals, which put a $50 charge on my card. I understand they have to do that and hold that money until they inspect the room, but it was still not great for a 10 hour stay. read more
