The refrigeration unit noise continued for nearly an hour and made it impossible to sleep. I reported the issue to Front Desk Supervisor Agustin Bastida, but the response was disappointing. I was told there was "nothing he could do," and when I stated I would file a complaint, his response was simply "go ahead." What we didn't expect was how convenient and walkable the area would be. From restaurants and local markets to downtown Oceanside and the beach, everything was within reach. As the family's designated Uber driver, I appreciated getting a break while they enjoyed the surroundings on foot. Thursdays brought the lively night market, and with the beach just a few blocks away, they could easily play in the sand or go for a jog along the shoreline. Oceanside is quickly becoming a foodie paradise, packed with craft cocktails and family-friendly options--and this location put us right in the middle of it all. The hotel itself was a pleasant surprise: plenty of parking, exceptionally clean rooms, and all the essentials, including breakfast in the morning. This place is your fairly typical Best Western. It was neat and clean, but certainly nothing special. I thought it was a perfectly acceptable place to spend the night. I was able to snag a fairly good room rate for the night, so in all fairness I think you have to rate the place in relation to how much you paid for the room. Obviously, this is no Marriott or Hilton, but it's also a lot cheaper. So you get what you pay for. read more

Clean, well run establishment, with many impressive appreciation awards from military. For some reason, I missed it the first time around as there are several hotels in a cluster at the intersection. They accommodated us in the middle of the night, after visiting a family member in the hospital. They were considerate and checked the room personally before checking us in to make sure it was good. We felt safe staying here, even though the area looked a little rough at night. The location was close to everything one could need and nearby beaches and plenty of shopping. And a short drive to Carlsbad. The bed was firm but adequate and we slept well. The room was clean, and the grounds well maintained. There are pretty seaside scenes by each room number. We loved the generous, quality hot breakfast. The attendant was professional and made sure everything was filled. The tables were clean and the food tasted delicious. The coffee was great too. And they had plenty of fresh, great tasting decaf and juice. We were looking for a clean, accessible, safe, affordable place to stay, and we were very pleased we found this gem! My family of 7 stayed utilizing two rooms. I booked the room through BW directly not through a third party. I was told we could have joining rooms but when we got there the hotel didn't have that option. That meant my wife and I had to split up the five kiddos amongst the two rooms. Not ideal for my wife and I. That miscommunication during the booking loses the fifth star. The accommodations were great and everything was clean. The rooms were larger than expected. Slept solid and the AC worked really well. The morning breakfast was great for our big family. Overall experience was good. read more

You have to admit for the price this is a good value. The staff are really nice. The breakfast is free and ample. Lots of cold and hot options and you can even make a lunch to go if you are into picnicking like we are. The location is central and walkable to a lot of very good restaurants. The hotel is freeway close and it might seem noisy at first but in the building and at night you don't hear traffic. You do hear footsteps and sounds in the room from other travelers but at night while everyone is sleeping it's quiet. The beds are "firm" as other reviewers have mentioned. There is ample and free parking. No resort or valet fees to deal with which is really nice. It seems that other hotels in the San Diego area charge the resort, tourist and parking fees which really drives up the overall cost. You also get a small pool and jacuzzi on the property which are nice options. So a really nice choice for a quick get away. read more

Pros: Great location in Oceanside within walking distance to beach and several restaurants (including a Starbucks and In-n-Out). There's a HUGE street fair every Thursday within walking distance. They offer a free hot breakfast daily from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. (although we didn't take advantage of it). There's plenty of parking in front and around the hotel. Cons: I'm not sure if this is in the safest area, especially because of the run-down Motel 6 next door. The rooms are slightly dated and it's probably a good thing our room didn't have a lot of light (which likely hid a lot of dirt and nastiness). And unfortunately the walls and floors are very thin! We were here 3 days and each day we had to go to the front desk and get new keys as our room keys never worked. In 3 days we had 9 room key changes! Thin walls, noisy. Old hotel, needs upgrades. Next to a run down Motel 6. Not a safe area. Go to Carlsbad a few miles away. You'll get much more for the money. This place is lousy! Never again!! read more

We are surprised at some of the poor reviews written on Yelp about this hotel, and based on our stay last week we disagree with the broad-brush bad reviews. Housekeeping was immaculate. Our room was more spacious than expected. It was raining torrentially during our stay, and the heating in our room was efficient and easy to use. The public areas were pleasant. Other guests we met were smiling and having a nice time. Plenty of free parking. Carlos at the front desk was pleasant, professional, and entirely knowledgeable each time we needed help, and a credit to the hotel. The complimentary breakfast selections were uninspiring, but we aren't really fans of breakfast foods so maybe we are in the minority. We were hoping there were yogurts and/or fresh fruits, but there were none. The breakfast room was full of other guests, so it is possible that others had eaten up the good stuff. On a side note, we had dinner at Joe's Crab Shack at Oceanside Harbor Village and had a delicious and great time. Even though it was raining, the views were worthy. read more

We stayed here for a few nights when we were in town for Legoland. The location was pretty good, really close to the freeway and not far from downtown Oceanside. The lobby area seemed updated and clean and staff was friendly. Plenty of parking and the firepit outside was nice. We got a suite and overall the room was decent. The room had a good sized walk in closet, and the kitchenette space was nice. The room seemed a bit dated though, a bit dark, and the bed was a little strange- basically a mattress sitting on a table like platform. Also I didn't like how there were 4 small pillows (maybe half the size of a regular pillow) on the bed instead of bigger pillows. Overall the room was clean. The breakfast buffet was nice. It was a pretty good spread with good variety and we enjoyed that during our stay. Overall a good stay. read more

This was a very nice stay. We wanted to be on the ocean, but this hotel is about 2 blocks up. When I went to check in, the attendant Tobias, at the front desk moved us to a room "with a view"! We could see the ocean off a ways. Tobias was so accommodating; and in more ways than one; he was Just downright friendly. We forgot a few things and he made sure we were good. He seemed to be that way with everyone. Around the hotel: There's a clean, nice sparkling little pool outside. In our room things were cozy, yet a bit small. The beds were doable, not the best but very clean. There was was a small gym that was functional. What is more, I loved the two sitting rooms with large TVs. But we especially loved the fire pit. We always travel with our largest iPad and mini speaker. We went and got free coffee and hot chocolate (Yep free!!! With creamers I n large fresh dispensers that was actually good!!!) So, we went outside twice, set things up and enjoyed a movie in the cool night air with a toasty fire and each other. We even moved inside to one of the sitting rooms and chatted for a bit. Just helped with spaciousness. We would certainly come back if we were to return to Oceanside. read more

Stay away from this place. Management is clueless, and doesn't care one iota about the guest experience. We booked two nights and arrived later in the evening, so we checked in and went out to dinner. After returning and going to bed my wife was bitten by what she thought was a spider. She turned on the light and it was a bed bug. We called the front desk and they said they couldn't do anything for us but bring us new sheets. Never mind replacing them, they just dropped them off at the door. We checked the second bed and moved there since everything in the area was sold out, but more bed bugs found their way out. Not sure if they were in the headboard, or where, but they are there. Left message for manager to call us, never got back to us and was never in when we stopped at front desk. After checking out we asked that he call us, never called, so we escalated with Priceline and manager said they checked and there was no sign of bedbugs so he denied any refund or fee adjustment. Submitted photos and video and waiting for results, but stay away from this dump. Go to Carlsbad and stay at a nicer place. This place stinks. read more

Me and my family (5 kids) drove from SF to oceanside. We checked in on Sunday with 2 rooms. Yesterday we went to visit family at 530pm. When we got back around 1030pm one of our rooms was opened. We discovered someone had come in, took a shower, used all my daughters shampoo , conditioner and toothbrush. They disposed of a dirty pair of pants in the trash and underwear. They then went through my son's bag and took some of his clothes. When reported to the front desk I was treated as a liar. They told me they searched the camera footage and told me no one entered my room. When asked how did dirty clothes get put in my room they said "I don't know- you tell me." He had no sympathy or empathy that me and my children were just violated. I said I wanted to leave and requested a refund. Our trip has 2 days left and booking a new hotel is very costly last minute for such a large family. He refused. He would refund me 2 days. I explained how disappointed I was with this customer service experience and asked to speak to someone in a higher leadership role and he said no. He continued to say this situation didn't happen. After going back and forth he then proceeded to tell me he was "evicting me" and my family. After we had our property stolen. I called the police and filed a police report. Obviously it was challenging to find a new hotel with such short notice. I've attached a screen shot proof of him lying to hotels.com stating they did not see anything on the camera. About 2 hours later the police called me to confirm they DID find the person on the camera entering our room and taking our property at around 730pm. We left at 530pm. I thought he said he looked at the cameras for hours? This shows this place is dangerous, no one is paying attention to strangers and the fact the manager is a liar and would try to cover this up shows what type of property this is. Do not stay here. The rooms are old and outdated and have a smell, and they clearly do not care about you and your family. This trip has now cost me double with having to change the booking and my kids are traumatized. Be aware!! read more

Loved this place! It has a microwave and fridge AND buffet breakfast. 6-930a for all guests. I was afraid that at 830 there wild be no food left, but they continuously fill up the food. Don't come at 920 though, you'll get scraps. But even with that they still ALWAYS have enough yogurt and granola, or fruit and Oatmeal. The water is not in the dining area you'll have to go out to the lobby, it's not far though! Great place to bring your fam. We went for a swim as well and they have towels outside for use! read more

We stayed in this beautiful beach area hotel for a few days and loved it. The hotel is beautifully decorated and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The check in and check out process was simple and quick. Our room was spacious, clean with a modern decor. The room felt a bit dark with the dark colored furniture and not any lights to cover the middle of the room. The room had all the basic necessities. I feasted with their complimentary breakfast each day. I did see a computer area, small swimming pool and the sign for the gym. They have a beautiful outdoor space and at night a gorgeous fire pit lights up to keep you warm. The hotel is 5 minutes away from the beautiful beaches and pier. Decent hotel for the budget minded traveler in the Carlsbad vicinity. Near the 5 freeway, only a mile from the water and only a mile from touristy waterfront dining, shopping etc. Legoland is just under 10 miles away. If you need a burger fix, In & Out Burger is across the street. We booked a two queen room for our family of 3 kids/2 adults. The basic room was narrow with little floor space. There was a padded upright chair next to the bed but no sofa sleeper which would have been nice. They did have a fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. The bathroom had a nice sized triangular shower but no tub. A desk and chair rounds out the small room with two queen beds. The sleeping arrangements worked fine for our young family. Kids slept three in a queen bed and since they are small it worked but 3 bigger kids would have been too cramped. Like I said there was almost no floor space in the room so if you had a portable crib or air mattress good luck. Pluses that we enjoyed was on site laundry room (overpriced at $5 a load for wash/dry), free parking, business center, and free full breakfast bar. read more

I was a bit concerned upon arrival that this Best Western might be in the seedy part of Oceanside, especially considering the other hotels on the strip and the abundance of gas stations and low-rent restaurants in the area. Never fear, however, in spite of its proximity to all that, this franchise both sets itself apart from the neighbors, while maximizing the way it employs the square footage it does have. For a price roughly half that of which you'd pay for the boutiques near the beach, you really get everything you need: A decent room, free breakfast, pool (with freely available towels!), fitness center, store, fire pit, business center, helpful staff, etc. Tip: If you're coming from the north, take Exit 54C for easier access to the hotel - otherwise you'll be forced to make a U-Turn on N Coast Highway, which is inconvenient at best, downright dangerous at worst. From the south, also employ Exit 54C. If you need to go to the beach (and this is Oceanside, after all, which does indeed feature an ocean), it's about a four minute drive, but if you're as walking-obsessive as I am (and if you're not, you should be), it's about ten minutes before you can dip your feet into the salt water. read more

I'M SO UPSET ! I stayed at Best Western Oceanside Palms hotel for 3 days this last week. I was there with my 3 children. At around 3:15AM on our last night there, my children and I had been asleep for several hours when we were awoken by a large boom and glass shattering sound. We were all terrified. I thought there had been a bomb exploding followed by windows breaking, or a shooting! I jumped out of bed to see what was going on, as I went by the bathroom I saw glass all over the floor, and I realized that the shower door had shattered. We had been sleeping for hours at that point. No one was had used or was using the bathroom. I immediately went down to the front desk and reported the incident to the front desk. They came up and swept up the glass and placed it in the shower stall. We checked out of the hotel a few hours later. Now I just looked at my credit card statement and Best Western charged me $500 for the broken door! There was nothing we did at all that would have caused that door to shatter like it did. We had been sleeping for several hours when it shattered. After seeing the $500 charge I called the hotel to complain and they had me fill out an incident report. Shortly after that I received an email from the General Manager saying that in his 10 year career he had never heard of that happening before and they sent an "expert" to look at it and said there was no way that happened on its own. Implying that I was lying! I'm so upset at this experience. And of course right before Christmas when I need every penny of the $500! This is just not right! read more

We were here for a week. Room size is good as well as location. However the house cleaning is a bit of hit or miss. But the biggest let down is the evening front desk especially "Andy". He can exhibits the exactly opposite of what a regular customer service is. There is lack of professionalism and basic courtesy and he would rather enjoy a nice evening with his buddy than help the guest. Booked well in advance and got a good deal for labor day weekend. In all, family was very pleased with stay here. Lets take it from the top: First, this place and the WHOLE city, is mask free. Its like your in another world coming from the SF Valley, or that Covid didnt happen. Not one staff member, not one occupant were wearing masks, so they dont enforce shit. Would be great for a Donald trump headquarters in 2026. Parking is aplenty and FREE. The property itself is sandwiched between 2 ghetto motels so the immediate area is shady, not to mention dozens of homeless meth-heads tweaking outside everywhere. So sad. But its very pretty itself, with a nice lobby, especially the sitting areas you can do your computer work, sit on the couches and charge phones, etc. Even a TV shows news/sports, cool. The complaints that most people have is its noisy; either we were very lucky or I dont know what because this was one of the quietest, cleanest hotels in this price range that I've stayed in...didnt hear a whisper all 3 days. Beds arent like 99% that sag and uneven, these had some backbone, to save mine, literally. Slept very well. each bed had a custom craned night light! Rooms arent big but do just fine...ample towels and toiletries, a fridge, and a sliding window to allow fresh ocean air in, a BIG plus. spotless, no hairs. The breakfast....well its best western. Ive stayed at a few so know what they have to offer, which is boxed eggs, bacon, nappy reheated potatoes, boxed liquid waffle station, some bland bread and bagels, 3 cereal dispensers that are semi-stale, and some sunny d, water, coffee, tea. Its packed in a very short time on weekends, no masks, everyone touching everything....yikes. There is an outside patio to eat as well, strongly recommend. We skipped this 2 out of the 3 mornings and ate out. Their coffee is surprisingly not bad and available 24/7 near the lobby vending machine, nice. Location, besides being in crackhead central, is very good. 10 minutes to the right and down is the beach. 10 minutes to the left and down is to the harbor. Loved walking in the early mornings, braving the human zombie elements. Only issue is the wifi, it lags here and there, but in general the whole city has awful wifi/reception. If they just copied hampton inn breakfasts they would be perfect. Still, gotta drop em a 5*, very pleased through and through. Oh, an in n out right across, bonus for your bunghole. read more

What a great hotel and location for such a fair price! Check in was quick and a smooth process. Brandon was at the desk and he was such a joy! Great energy, accommodating and knowledgeable. When we got to our room I checked the sheets. (Because I'm a wee bit particular about sheets! Lol!) our top sheet had some sort of a stain that I didn't like so I called down to the desk and Brandon was very apologetic and brought up a fresh set right away. Our room was clean and most importantly the bathroom was VERY clean. It looked updated and they had awesome complimentary toiletries. I was really impressed with the makeup remover wipes! I always forget to bring those and I felt that it was really thoughtful that they were complimentary. Breakfast was really good and had a great variety! I'm a bit of a germaphobe so I appreciated the cleanliness of the buffet and that everything was covered, secure and well kept! Even the utensils came directly from a dispenser! Boom! The hotel was very nice and clean. I liked how close it was to the beach/pier. The breakfast was good. They had choice of scrambled eggs or omelette, bacon, potatoes, pastries, apples/bananas, cereals, yogurt and drinks. They had told us at check-in there'd be waffles too but they didn't have any either day we were there. Not a huge deal although would've been nice. My son went to the fitness center a couple times and enjoyed it. I went down to the pool with the kiddos on Saturday night and the water was nice and warm so they enjoyed playing in the water even with the chilly weather. The downside? The noise on Saturday night was terrible and the staff should do more about it. I could hear loud partying from several rooms which kept waking us up. Even heard a girl vomiting loudly in what seemed to be coming from the hallway. Doors kept slamming. Ugh...If we kept getting woken up then I am sure the hotel staff could hear it. We had left a hotel, Super 8 of Oceanside, 20 minutes prior on the 22nd because it was filthy, not taken care of, holes in the wall and bed bug stains on the bed.
