Our room reeks of cigarette smoke so badly. When we first arrived it just smelled like perfumey cleaning chemicals, but as that wore off the smell of old cigarettes really shone through. I woke up in the middle of the night because it stinks so badly and is giving me a headache. The rooms are designated as "non smoking" but someone before us was definitely a smoker. It doesn't smell as if it was a one time thing, you know the scent when someone smokes inside their home for years and it just becomes part of the walls and furniture? It's like that. I would never book here again, very overpriced for what you're getting. read more

Tried to check in Had to wait two hours past check in time Went to a wedding reception, came back the card does not work for my room so they put me in a room on first floor. My pain meds and everything else are in my room. I'm down here suffering in pain from my recent knee surgery and can't get it. Early today when I couldn't check in I saw breakfast station Cockroach was on counter don't eat here people I better get a full refund I'm here one more night I'm supposed to be at a wedding tomorrow. I am absolutely shocked to see people giving this place a rating with more than 1 star. Aside from the rooms being extremely outdated, they are dirty & beat up. The toilet seat was in worse condition than one in a public gas station. I truthfully didn't feel comfortable using the bathroom or shower. There are only 2 towels available & no matter how much you change the temperature in the fridge, it froze all liquids inside. I will absolutely never stay here again. read more

We did a staycation in Oceanside and were very pleased with this hotel. It was a lot better compared to other higher-rated hotels we've stayed at regarding cleanliness and quality rooms. The staff was friendly and respectful. For light sleepers, you might ask if there's room away from the freeway because you could hear it through the night. I stayed at Comfort Suites Oceanside on 11/10/2025, booked a double queen accessible suite (roll in shower), as my traveling companion is wheelchair bound. I booked it around 3 weeks earlier. When we checked in, the concierge explains that the elevator is broken. This is a problem as my friend cannot get up the stairs. The only available room on the ground floor is a single king bed, non-accessible room. Exhausted from traveling, we accept the downgrade as the concierge said we'd be reimbursed for the difference and also reieve 20% off (he called his GM to confirm). However, I asked again at checkout and the new concierge said we'd have to go through Priceline. Makes sense. But when I called Priceline, who called the hotel, they lied and claimed that we got the accessible suite! I don't understand why they didn't reach out to me beforehand about the elevator. I am very unhappy with the whole situation. Also, the shower faucet was almost impossible to turn - and I couldn't get it closed all the way. Shower curtain was all torn up, and the tv had remote issues. Breakfast was great though, the one lady who ran the breakfast did a great job. read more

Our first visit was for a family reunion, and this time, we returned under more somber circumstances for a funeral. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Diago, one of the managers, and the entire staff for their kindness and exceptional service. Traveling from Los Angeles, we requested an early check-in so that my elderly grandmother could rest for an hour before the funeral. Diago and his team graciously accommodated our request, and their understanding and hospitality meant so much to us during a difficult time. We brought the kids for a beach trip from Vegas. We got a room with a balcony and it was by far one of the best rooms we've had. It was very spacious. The room was very clean upon arrival. I was nervous after reading reviews about the cleanliness and noise level but I must say that I was surprised that there were so many negative reviews. We weren't able to hear the highway noise at all unless we were sitting out on our balcony. We will definitely use this hotel again if we return for a visit. read more

For the price you pay you think you would get what you pay for when you stay here. If you want extra towels, you need to take them your dirty ones. The employee working the front desk(with tattoos) needs to find a job that doesn't have to do with customer service, asking him to do his job was a huge inconvenience for him and he was in his muscle shirt while working(really!?). Nothing really special about this place. It's long past due for a interior upgrade. I've stayed here before, the rooms are comfortable but dated. I was upgraded to an XL suite. I had a separate office/living room which had a old couch on one side and a desk on the other. The room was large enough to accommodate a coffee table a chair or two and an additional TV. There was also a jacuzzi that I didn't have a chance of try. I've stayed at all the Choice brand hotels in this town, unfortunately, this ones the best. read more

I had to reserve a room online. After I entered to date and tried to book the room I had to change the type of room. Continued to check out only to find out the date reverted back to whatever the website default was. I immediately called to change the date and was told I couldn't do that and it had to be cancelled and rebooked. I was so delighted by the friendly service I received upon check-in. I was greeted by a lovely member of their staff, that was Nadia. As Nadia checked me in, she noticed my Choice Rewards status and thanked me for being a longtime rewards member. She also allowed me to help myself to a beverage and snack of my choice...Wow!! She was so nice and treated me as a real guest. What a difference from the previous hotel I had stayed at the night before. To go on about Nadia, I had food delivered and I had failed to request paper plates and untensils. I went to the front desk and asked if she could at least spare a few plastic forks, she said, yes and to help myself. She asked if I needed paper plates and said just to help myself. She just went far and beyond her job duties to accommodate me and she should be recongnized. The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable, free Wi-FI, and free parking. They had a pool and oustide spa, however, the spa appeared out of service, unfortunate, because my husband and I love our spa...we managed. They had a fairly decent breakfast and it was kept clean. The nice lady, Caritina, worked very diligently getting the tables clean. She worked with a sense of urgency in keeping the breakfast stocked. I really appreciated her helpfulness, and her kind and patient demeanor. I highly recommend this Comfort Suites if you have visit Oceanside. They were very accommodating to their guest. read more

Craig: Daytime/Early night Clerk My experience with the comfort suite starting last night was good. All because of the young lady that was working and studying for classes showed compassion. Compassion and understanding goes a lot further than anything thing else you might have to offer. I left my home last night because I did not feel safe. Basically this young lady was doing her job and studying at the same time. Showing compassion and understanding as I said before and I'll say it again. They moved me into another room which I was kind of excited about with the hot tub. Nothing worked right in this room. So I called to the front desk after the maintenance man came and checked on the water and it's their faucets that were ass in backwards. Went out on the patio oh of what they called the Presidential suite, everything is black like nothing was ever cleaned. I had stopped at the store to get a small bag of Epson salt so I could soak, cause I was having a lot of pain. So I decided noway am I paying all this money. I called and explain too Graig, I was not happy with the room and I was checking out and if he could please call one of his sister companies and find a room for me. Because let's face it, summer started and it a holiday weekend. I put my bags in my car, came back in to ask if he found a room for me. He first said but we don't even have any sister companies. I was like you have a whole CHOICE HOTEL/ CHOICE PROGRAM dude, but you couldn't even do your job for somebody that's kinda of in distress. On top of it all, he said you used the room he said it was 4 hours and it was two, yes of course I'm charging you.. I'm not one of these people that like to give bad reviews. read more

Our room reeked of cannabis. At one point in the evening it smelled of... a not-solid bowel movement. None of us smoke or had any digestive issues. The pillows felt as though they were stuffed with old, twisted rags. The furniture and towels were oddly stained; and not in a subtle way. When attempting to shower, the pipes began humming and the water pressure plummeted. ... But they do offer free batter and use of a waffle iron from 6:30am to 9:30am ... so, yay!? read more

The first impression was hmmmm .. I've never stayed at this business.... The greeting was polite courteous and fast- thank you, Jessica. The entrance made a good impression that it would be a good stay . Got our keys and into our room. Everything looked very clean.. of course we still sprayed our disinfectant for extra protection. The rooms were surprisingly quiet. Mattress was firm and comfy... breakfast was nice ... the breakfast crew on 11/23 were on point! Seeing the maids so courteous and cleaning the walls later on just threw it up a notch.. all in all, I gotta say- it was a wonderful and restful stay. Jacuzzi suite without a working tub!! We checked in last night cause my husband wanted to surprise me with a quick getaway to relax a bit and once we finally got around to utilizing the tub, there wasn't any water coming from the spouts. The night manager said all they could do was credit us $50. That doesn't even cover gas here, let alone the fact the only reason we came was because of the jacuzzi. If you are staying here for the suites, call in advance and ask them to go upstairs and make sure everything is working. It's the next morning and I really can't believe that was their solution when we wouldn't have wasted money on a hotel room. read more

This place is a bit of a contradiction. The staff are lovely. There are clearly not enough of them. The building is in disrepair. Warped doors, broken outlets, wobbly toilets and the list goes on. The price should either be halved, or the hotel needs a full scale overhaul while investing in more staff. read more

My husband and I took a short (3 day) break from the heat of interior CA and stayed at this hotel. It was delightful. I have only 3 areas of negative comment. We stayed in a handicapped room. The couch is much too low for a handicapped visitor to get up from with ease. Replacing it with one 6" higher would be a great help. The tub is a standard depth tub, which is extremely difficult to step over and into. I suggest putting a walk-in shower in handicap rooms an adding a shower chair for persons such as myself who cannot step high enough to get into a regular tub. The shower control is quite high. There is no way to reach it if you are short or handicapped. Other than those concerns, the staff was all great and very solicitous, helping in every way. The room is very comfortable and nicely decorated. Overall, a delightful place to stay and we recommend it! read more

My husband and I have stayed at this property several times in the past and then we chose to stay again for 2 nights. Sept 24 and 25th. There was no dresser just an empty box with no drawers. So of course we could not unpack. There was lots of light that came through the door as the door did not fit properly. This property has really gone down hill. The Wyndham Resort was *supposed* to be where my Oceanside vacation package was booked, but "sometimes we get overbooked," the guest services crew said w/ Kool-Aid smiles & Hollister looks, as if that was supposed to sit well w/ me as I hoofed it back to the local Dew Drop, where I was alternatively booked. Rme. But the Comfort Suites is purdy fancy for a budget hotel. The best part: the rooms are CLEANish. Well... the rooms are--strictly speaking. Do NOT expect to take the fam for a pool dip because the jacuzzi & pool double as pigeon aviaries, & the local pool guy--apparently--doesn't get this far north of the beach. There are other spots where the hotel shows additional lagging in upkeep, like the bathroom's welted wallpaper. And the dusty bookcases behind the bed... except that there are no bookcases, just mite mounds. O_O Mite City! To the Comfort Suites's credit, most hotels, quoted as being "a short walk to the beach", are actually twenty miles away, but this really is a quick walk--ten minutes, maybe. The greatest issue here is safety, with which I didn't feel secure. There was an obvious breach, & someone entered my room while I was gone. Fortunately for my sanity, I had before & after photos, just in case. I've had it happen before at a hotel: my leaving the "do not disturb" sign on the door only to come back & find the room perfectly disturbed. And "disturbed" my room was upon return. Perturbed, I was, upon aforementioned return. O_o Some unsavory folks had a "meetin'"... (or "rally"?) behind a gray pick-up-truck one afternoon. Moreover, to my surprise, 'Bruh' Man' aka 'Doo-Rag' checked in here, too. (Ohh, can't we get rid of this guuuuyy? Caaaannn'ttt weee? [Yes, I'm wining. I've driven more miles than I care to add up today--Calabasas to the OC, then on back to LA. I have a right to cry! Waaaggghhh!]) Oh, and crack it to the waffle iron long before breakfast ends!!! Of course, it ends at crack-o'-dawn-o'-clock in the morning, but if you're not there ON TIME... Allz I'll say is that the 'kitchen guru' is more Ginsu & Gangsta' than sage. Unlike some local hotels they are open late and have people on call. I was pleasantly surprised as the 3 previous hotels I stopped at had no vacancy, must be a convention in town, but the front bell desk person was friendly and helpful, let me see the room prior to booking eventhough there were no other options available like a suite. I did startle him as it was late. My initial nighttime view of the place was that it seemed small, but the next day in the bright sunny morning I saw a kitchen area with continental breakfast, a business center sign, vending and ice machines and check out was simple and easy. Ample parking, easy to find and much nicer looking that the motel next door. The bed was tall and comfortable, a little too soft for me, but the half pillows we called them (basically take a pillow and cut it in half and they give you like 5 of them. Blankets and covers were the usual the blinds took a bit to figure out the true blackout blinds were way in the back. Basic tv was minimal and mostly Spanish or commercials. Bathroom was clean, the whole 1/2 and full flush options were weird and I kind of of thought the bathroom needed a mopping. It's not a bad place to rest your head for a few hours and it's better than any motel in town. read more

I have stayed in many hotels and some have been decent and par, but this one just kept giving surprises as the night went on. We spent $265 for a single night with taxes. For starters, there were pieces of trash all over the parking area from overfilled trash cans that still weren't emptied the next day when we left. Parking was unbelievably difficult with such a small lot we could barely fit in the very back. When we walked in the appearance of the hotel lobby and hallways seemed nice, until we got into our room. The elevator had dim lights and the ceiling grid was all broken and busted. When we were walking down the hallways we noticed the air vents were filthy. Then when we got into the room the couch was not even a couch and very unbearable to the point where we didn't even want to sit on it. The wall had spackle from holes being filled that weren't even painted over. The leather on the back of the desk chair was completely worn off and to try to cover this they put long strips of Velcro over it. The room was very dusty and hardly even clean for that matter. The water pressure in the bathroom was good but the design was terrible because the door would stop in front of the sink so if you were in the bathroom the door had to be closed. Then the fridge was so cold it froze our beverages and was not adjustable. And last was how uncomfortably hard the bed was. Everything about this hotel was filthy and not worth what we spent.
