The bare essentials are there. The room was clean and easily passed the blacklight test. When it comes to safety, there were no apparent issues. Water pressure in the shower was excellent, as was the piping hot nature of the water. As for the breakfast, while I didn't partake, it seemed adequate. Beyond these, refinement in various areas is needed: Mattress: Clearly showing its age and due for replacement. There was a prominent slant to the side that I've not encountered in dozens of hotel stays. I slept okay, but it could have been better, Service: The person checking me in was extremely kind, welcoming, and a total professional. The person checking me out, however, had a bit of "I don't really want to be here" in her attitude. Understandable, but not great. Housekeeping: This should have been daily, but the team apparently missed my room. Coming back after being out past midnight to find the bed hadn't been made was less than fun. Hockey in the shower: While there is a mat in the bath, as the soap ran towards the drain it became terrifyingly slippery. Add the lack of a grab bar, and I showered in terror of being wheeled out naked by EMTs. Sorry for putting that image in your mind. It didn't help things that the drain was slow. Bathroom door: the gap between the door and door frame was such that a mild pull would open a locked door. Non-issue when staying alone, but the fact remains. Bathtub: showing its age, as some of the glaze had worn off. Alarm clock: Kaput. Noise: There was no noise coming from the street. However, despite being on the top floor, there were occasional loud thumps! These were few and far between, but if you're not in the same room, YMMV. read more

I have mixed feelings about Best Western Plus Waltham. One one hand, the rates are reasonable (most times; not all the time). Plus complimentary breakfast and bottled water in the room is included. On the other hand, the beds can sometimes be a little too worn out, and the water pressure in the shower could be better. But it's clean and safe. So for the price, during a short stay, this place is fine. And there's a swimming pool & gym! read more

After a long travel day from Texas, we finally arrive at this hotel to check in. I was told by Ezra, a very nice guy, that our reservation was given up because there wasn't a credit card attached. The room was completely paid for, and I even had a receipt to prove it. Then Ruth, the manager came out and said she tried to call us (we were on a plane) to see if we could add a credit card, but she said she couldn't contact anyone. She offered us a choice of two blocked rooms: one with paint chipping on the ceiling, and the other with a faulty AC. She was extremely unhelpful, so I had to call the third party to have them sort it out. At the end of it all, we ended up in the room with the "not as powerful" AC. We arrive in the room, and there's empty water bottles, used bars of soap, used shampoo bottles, and full trashes. Bed was clean and everything else worked fine. Stayed here 9/3/25 , the lobby is very nice the water fall thing upon entry was enjoyable they also had fresh lemon/cucumber water & 24hr coffee bar which i frequented. The pool is huge for a hotel, probably one of the best hotel pools. The Interior has wood paneling throughout which transforms the feeling. It goes up to 8ft deep which I found interesting, most hotels only have 5ft, jumping into 8ft was so refreshing. The pool has towels available as well. The gym is located in the lower lobby and has a slight mildewy/mold smell. I feel like that should be addressed and the lower lobby should be transformed it feels very outdated and random. The gym has a few cardio machines however the peloton bike wasn't connected to wifi, and wouldn't work. The leg curl/extension machine also is incredibly rusty. The cables, chest press, and treadmills were fine however. They provide cold bottled water and towels there as well. The room itself is big for for the price , very spacious and has a good amount of storage. Upon walking in, I was uncomfortable by how warm the room was. It felt muggy. When i turned the ac on, it took about 15 minutes for it to feel better. There is a fridge, microwave, and coffee bar. The room is just outdated, it felt clean- but old. The wall paper is peeling, and the bathroom is outrageously small. The water pressure in the shower was also abysmal and it took a minute to warm up. It felt like 2010 in the room, which i had a love hate relationship with. Once we were settled, we were comfy. The location of this hotel is great. The view was fine. The bed was comfortable i slept nice, however the pillows are extremely soft. No bed bugs, nothing unpleasant in the bed. No stains, no smell. The restaurant, was 10/10. It was cutely decorated for fall, the waiter was kind, the food and drinks were solid. The breakfast buffet was solid. It had pancake machine, bagels toast etc, yogurt parfait bar with fruit and granola , fried eggs, sausage, oatmeal, cereal bar, home fries, and breakfast tortilla station. Very expansive, I was very satisfied. Overall the hotel from me gets a 6.5/10 , if you need a quick, cheap, decent weekend getaway - this is it. The pillows and towels smell like the last guy that slept there. Also, I was charged an incidental fee of $100. I ineeded to extend the days of my stay and was made to pay an additional $100, bringing it to a total of $200. It's been a month and I have not received the funds back or notice explaining why. If I could leave less I would. I was given a room and a couple days later noticed awful red bites on my face. They are so itchy and sore. Had it looked at by a Dr and was told it was a bed bug bite. I was moved to a different room prior to them knowing about it due to doubles all being booked and I was given a single. Told several workers who told me I had to wait to speak to a manager days later. Spoke to someone and they took my info and a Pic of my face. Im hoping I hear back soon about this. Also was told it is a dog friendly hotel and the other day a manager came and was so rude and instead of being respectful to me started getting so upset cause my dog barked a few times while I was at work while they had workers working in the room next to mine. He is usually quiet unless someone disturbs him. I spent well over 2k here. As a paying customer this isnt ok and I plan on making it known to other customers. Also the rooms arent all that great. Employees are very nice. Breakfast was very good. Beds are starting to sag. Major problem was the elevator noise. If you're in a room close to the elevator, the noise is extremely annoying and sounds like an electric motor turning on and off, the frequency depending upon the amount of elevator usage. It's the loudest elevator I've encountered in a motel and, apparently, people are constantly complaining. We asked to change our room, but were told they didn't have anything much better available. The adjoining room strenuously objected, and their room was changed. Unless this type of noise doesn't bother you, ask for a room away from the elevator. read more

Meh, i guess you get what you pay for. We stayed 1 Night, $130+ basically because the location worked for us to to walk to Ruth Chris and a semi local museum. I grant this place1 star for the staff at front desk who were all very pleasant during check in and also check out. I give another 1+ Star specifically because breakfast seemed well taken care of. There was a well dressed gentleman who seemed to be working the area refilling and greeting all the patrons. This was a Sunday morning and really this place desperately needed him, he was a breath of fresh air and seemed to take pride in his work. the fridges were stocked down there with tons of yogurts, there was also baked goods and some sausage patties and scrambled eggs and LOTS of juice/drink machines but no ICE?? weird, but the lovely gentleman went out back and grabbed me a cup so i could make an ice coffee. Again, he is a 10! My last 1 star is granted because the Copper Tavern restaurant located within the hotel was pretty descent. Drinks were good, but literally $14 same price as Ruth Chris. As far as the actual room goes, MEHHHH! Cobwebs in corners, bath could def also be cleaner along with sheets looked a little scummy. Thankfully i booked a balcony room because the place on the 6th floor was hotter than hell and we slept with the door cracked open in December! We only live about 45 min away and around 1-3am i definetly almost packed up to leave due to screaming guests in the room nearby that seemed relentless. The lady just kept screaming "Joey doent leave me". After listening to her whine and complain for that long i would have left her too. This is one of the dirtiest and least maintained hotels I've ever stayed in. I had to move my room twice. The staff working behind the front desk are super friendly and do their best to accommodate, but this property is seriously in need of a gut job. The first room wasn't clean. The toilet seat was dirty. There was visible skid marks. I was appalled. Nothing was wiped down either. I was moved to a second room which was also dirty. Nothing was wiped down but the worst part was how moldy the room felt and smelled. There was visible mold in the AC wall unit vents which I wiped down myself. There was mold on the walls. Every breath felt like I was breathing in musty air. I could not sleep. The next day I was moved to another (third) room. It was the best out of the other two however it still felt pretty gross. The entire property and rooms a have a terrible musk to it. The carpet was dirty. There was a mystery bar straw next to my bed and the door had fingerprints next to the lock which resembled blood. There was also no hot water twice. I came back from this trip with an upper respiratory infection. The air is not cleaning this property and I'm not sure how they are in business. Again, the staff behind the front desk were very understanding and did their best to find a clean room, however they all seem to have problems. I would never stay here again. The salmon at the hotel restaurant also made me sick. Two stars only because the staff was understanding and tried to accommodate. read more

Nice location. Very safe. Bed was more on the firm side, and the pillows were super soft... after about 5 min your head sinks in and you have to fluff it... Overall not a bad stay. It was very quiet. Did not try the pool but it looked very clean and new. The hotel had a bar and restaurant that closes at 1 am. Pubic hair in the bathtub. Broken computers In the media center. Rude staff. Overpriced rooms. What else can go wrong? The associate that checked us insisted that we didn't have a room even after we showed them the confirmation number. He then argued with us telling him we said the wrong name. Later on in the night I called from my cell and told them the room number and asked for a wake up call. I was baffled at the employee's response. The crazy rude employee working night shift who answered the phone asked me "Does your phone in the room work??" And yelled at me to call from it and hung up the phone. So much for hospitality. People on the east coast are so rude!!! To top it all off the housekeeping let themselves in my room and woke me up at 7:45 am and asked me if I was checking out today! Checkout time is 11. One of the worst stays ever. Total dump. My credit card was compromised as well as my daughter's while staying there. (Both banks closed access to our bank cards). I called to speak with management and they failed to get back to us after calling many times. Obviously top Mgmt is awful and they should go back from where they came from. I will continue to destroy this company everywhere I can. I have pics of the Indian that was stealing from us and BofA is on it. The one star is only there because I can't post without it... it isn't any indication of anything slightly good or pleasurable about my experience** I don't know where these excellent reviews are coming from. The "Plus" is not what we experienced at all! I arrived and there was water damage in the bathroom, The enamel in the bathroom tub chipped so where I thought it was dirty,the carpets were dirty, there was a stain on the shower curtain, and water damage over a bed on the ceiling. Called to have my room changed and before they could, he asked "have you slept in the bed yet?" Which tells they had no intention on cleaning out the room. It's COVID, clean the room!!! So I had my room switched from water damaged bathroom to a mold infested room. The second room had a broken closet, cracked sink, another beat up tub, dirty desk and broken drawers! You can tell that neither one of the rooms I have been cleaned - ever. We cleaned with Lysol wipes and the amount of dirt was unreal! There has to be a level of cleanliness that they're are unaware of. The carpets were definitely not clean because I found food, stains on the wall, on the curtains and trash behind a chair. Door locks weren't secure. I've never stayed in a hotel so filthy! It's now dubbed the Bates Motel. I will never ever stay here again. Nope. I don't recommend it. If "pay cheap, get cheap" was a hotel, it's undoubtedly the Best Western Plus in Waltham, Massachusetts!! That was not a deal or a steal, it's the waiting area before the entrance of hell. Skip this one, go elsewhere. I have been in hotels that have poor management before but this stay. If this is the best they can then they should not do it. First of all if your gonna out a white bed cover over the blanket..... it should be clean. Dah.... I needed 2 non smoking rooms with full beds and I do need them close. Rooms across the hall 20 feet apart... not to shabby. We get in the 4 th floor ... and the odor of 100 day old tobacco on a warm humid night fills the air. The outdated old smelly dirty carpet adding its own special odor in the mix. The carpet followed us into the first room, as did the faintest hint of that mix outside but you can air that puppy out and spray some perfume. Of course the next room must be better..... but I open that room at the end of the 4 th floor and get hit with what can only be described as a room everyone in the building goes to for a smoke break. I went down to the lovely young man standing behind the desk. He was shocked the room smelled this way, ( Sarcasm break: I don't think it was this guys jobs to keep the place in decent shape for the 4 stars on trip advisor or the " very good" status that was reported on hotels.com. ) This lovely young man required clarification on the situation (the room smells like an ash tray was not clear) . I repeated the reservation is for a non smoking room. He did his job by asking if we had touched anything while we were there... you know they had COVID "training "... My reply to him was sincere and explained I could honestly not take a breath without vomiting and my head pounding from the effects of this horrible smell to touch anything other then the door handle. He then offered me a room down the musty gross hall almost directly opposite of the building from the first room. You know... I didn't know how far apart the rooms where to make any comment on the distance between rooms... feeling overjoyed that there is something else on the same floor. I walked in, and the smell was decent. Still felt more like that hostel in New York I stayed in some years am 20 years ago. It had a toilet, sink , 2 beds to accommodate 6 humans... it smelled far better then the toxic exhaust room I just left and it's got a roof to house my family for this temporary housing situation. My kids did remote learning in these rooms... my husband worked from these rooms, luckily my daughter could go to preschool and escape this building while I went to work. We didn't bother with the bag breakfast. I did try to get us closure.....the next morning, I kindly asked what can be done.... my kids room had an room adjoining room, so clearly I asked for that room..... but I was told it was reserved. How did that happen? Is that what the Plus stands for in Best Western Plus. I missed the place where I could reserve my room down to the room number. The room was vacant at the time of me asking and sure enough.... it was occupied later that day.... by group who thought since the place smells like cigarettes why not light up... well.... that stuff travels. Maybe non smoking means something else these days. Bottom line: the impression this leaves is poor. Nothing about this is quality. Nothing felt clean, looked clean, or smelt clean. There is no way people are being held accountable for their role here in this hotel. Not management, not housekeeping, not reception, and defiantly not maintenance. The message this hotel gives is " we don't care why your here, we don't care how it smells or looks, just appreciate the clean Lobby. Who ever owns this establishment ..... your going to want to work on this little lemon... pronto. I'm certain you didn't intend on grossing out the locals. Fellow parents of school aged children.... this is not a safe place to stay. It's our second of 4 nights we booked but we are done..... the residence next to one of the rooms sealed the deal. We first stayed here in 2008 for 10 days during our honeymoon. It was under renovations at the time (which is why we could afford to stay here) but even then it was comfortable and relaxing. They had a pool and a in-house restaurant/bar. We visited again in 2012 and stayed here, but at that time the pool was closed for renovations and the restaurant had left. We stayed once more over the past weekend and it was fantastic. The pool and restaurant were back, but even more surprising was that they had upgraded our room from a Queen to a King-size suite. We have no idea why, as they were completely booked up, but our room was awesome. The room included a free breakfast, which was a hot breakfast. They had scrambled eggs (precooked I am sure, but actually seasoned nicely), potato hash browns, sausage or bacon (depending on the day), and a pancake conveyor belt machine! No waffle maker, but the pancake maker was so cool I tried it several times. Lots of bread, french toast, muffins, five types of fruit, cereal, juice, etc. My wife paid, so I don't know how much of our bill was the "free" breakfast but I was happy with it. Getting to the place involves some tricky driving on one-way streets, as does getting back to the expressway. It is on a hill, so it is easy to see, but there is no straight way there. If you come at night and/or aren't familiar with the area, you will likely get lost. We will be back again! read more

I asked for a blanket cause I'm always cold and a nice clean warm blanket was provided. Free hot breakfast served from 7-10:30. Coffee and tea was provided in the lobby all night long. Complimentary bottled water was provided in the room. Hotel parking was a breeze. And the restaurant attached was pretty decent too! We are definitely thinking about coming back without a doubt. This motel was overpriced. We paid over $600 for one night. We were told by the front desk manager that all the hotel prices were high in the area for that night. We went ahead and booked on the spot but before we ever even entered the room or took our luggage to the room we found another motel, the Hilton Garden Inn, just a block away, had the exact same room for $300. Of course, since we had already booked the room, and even though we hadn't even set foot in it, Best Western Plus would not allow us to cancel. The hotel itself looks nice and the staff has been great. The rooms looks nice but after some closer looking you see where the flaws lay. The cable goes in and out and so does the WiFi. House keeping clearly cuts some corners here there with clean up as to seeing previous occupants things and items left in the room. The breakfast buffet the supply is great and has a good variety of foods to feed your hunger. The pool was heated and the workout room was nice as well, an added bonus for us who like to not miss a workout. The room walls are thin so you can clearly here you neighbors next door. The house cleaning staff has their thieves, I left behind expensive clothing in my room, on the tv stand, I called and asked for them to look for it in lost and found and they claimed that housekeeping did not find it. My father paid for a couple of nights in the Best Western in a temporary emergency situation. I was very impressed with the upkeep of the property and the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. it was certainly the most comfortable motel stay in recent memory. The front desk didn't know what she was doing. I tried checking in and she started to go through papers looking for my reservation a few times. She took so long that I had to double check my reservation. Her co worker ended up telling her to search me up in the computer and she found me right away. Comparing the other guests check in compared to mines was a big difference. The tv and bathroom is small, blankets are extremely thin! I had to put the heat up really high. The room is spacey but needs some work to it. Note: The pool is still under reservation. :( read more

This is a fair hotel. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. We came for a long weekend to watch the Red Soxs and enjoy Quincy Market. However it is beyond my reasoning why the hotels website does not disclose that the pool is being renovated. We have a toddler and choose this hotel because of the way they described the pool. No mention that it was under renovation. This non disclosure is unacceptable. Lastly and by far the worst offense. Who in this hotel's administration and management decided it is great idea to charge an exorbitant amount for a candy bar, $3.50 and a can of soda also $3.50. You make no money off of these sales and you just turn the guest off. Real stupid idea Best Western. I'm not coming back based on principal. Dumb administrative and management moves. The Best Western Plus is a great place to stay. The staff was really friendly. The rooms are nice. It's in a great location and attached to a bar/grill. I did not like the fact that the pool was not in service (summer maintenance) but that is a minor detail. I enjoyed a nice big bed in my single room. The bed was pretty comfortable, complete with plenty of pillows. Also, my room had a balcony with a spectacular view where you can watch the sunrise and sunset. I also really enjoyed the fitness center. This fitness center is above average for most hotels. It has pretty much all the standard equipment and plenty of space to move around and get a good workout in. This hotel has plenty of FREE parking and complimentary breakfast, two things you'll usually pay for at hotels this nice. I would highly recommend this place!!! Don't be discouraged cause it's a Best Western, this is a very nice place. read more

The room was dirty, the phone did not work, the pool was to cold to use, and staff was never helpful at the front desk. I understand staffing issues but at check in I was told that we would not have any housekeeping due to Covid we were staying seven days. It would not have been a big deal if they would have given extra towels and toilet paper when asked. They held money on two different credit cards. And then overcharged me after I left. I left two messages with no response and called corporate with not much help either. Will be canceling my Best Western credit card and never staying with again. This hotel has a gorgeous lobby, pool area and restaurant. We tried the restaurant which isn't bad and had ok food. We didn't use the pool but did grab the to go breakfast in the morning. That was typical hotel food. We booked a king bed with pull out couch and balcony. The first room we got had a very dirty bathroom and the bed spread was dirty. We randomly got a call asking if our room was ok. This has never happened before and we travel a lot. I said well it's pretty dirty in here. So they told us to come down and grab a key to another room. We switched rooms and went to it after our dinner. We were shocked when again our bathroom was dirty. This time we found a dirty toothpick on the floor, hair everywhere, tub leaking water and heart confetti everywhere. I walked down to the front desk and kindly asked if the room was checked before giving it to us. They said no they go by the computer. The staff was kind and understanding the entire time. I was cranky from our drive and the fact that our baby was having a surgery at children's the next morning. I refused to switch to another room. I wanted that one just cleaned. That didn't happen tho. They told me to speak to the manager in the morning. At least the bed in this room was clean. Shower was wacky with pressure the next morning when I used it. This hotel needs some tlc of the rooms. Wall paper is peeling, tile work is done wrong, mattresses are not great. The manager the next morning did adjust our room fee but wouldn't waive it because we stayed. So she took off $99. Not sure if it will come off seeing as we are still pending the transaction. She wanted me to write a statement to the housekeeping manager. I felt weirded out by this. She should be able to tell that person get your staff is not cleaning the rooms. Check them before you leave. Needs a new housecleaning staff asap. Would be fine for people looking for a fun hotel night. read more

This has been the absolute worst hotel experience I have ever had. This facility is in disrepair in spite of what was said to have been a recent renovation. The bathtub was not clean, and this was the worst interaction with a desk clerk that I have ever had. I travel a lot, and took this risk with this hotel and regret it fully. I would not recommend this hotel in any way. read more
