Update (2025): I first stayed at Crescent Suites years ago while visiting my sister at Brandeis University, and honestly, I didn't fully appreciate how good this place was until I revisited my notes. Now that I've had more travel experience, I can confidently say this hotel is a hidden gem in Waltham. The apartment-style rooms are fantastic--spacious, clean, and equipped with full kitchens, comfy seating areas, and all the essentials. It's more like staying in a cozy apartment than a standard hotel, which makes solo trips, family visits, or longer stays feel effortless. The service is genuinely warm and welcoming, and the breakfast is a standout--custom-made eggs cooked to order and expertly crafted coffee that beats any run-of-the-mill hotel fare. The location is great too--close enough to Brandeis University for visiting students, but also easy to explore Waltham's Moody Street for restaurants, cafés, and a little local charm. The area felt safe and walkable, and for outdoor enthusiasts, you can hop on nearby trails along the Charles River or Mass Central Rail Trail for some scenic exercise. We were staying one night in Boston and decided to stay here with all of the great reviews. Loved that this was away from the hustle and bustle of Boston and did not have to worry about the traffic of being in downtown Boston - or worry about parking! The good: friendly staff, nice welcome cookies, nice breakfast spread and drink options, small quiet hotel. Rooms are large and have a nice layout. The bad: water pressure in shower was not great and the walls are thin. I could hear the neighboring room - coughing, alarm going off in the morning, and closing/beeping of microwave. Overall I would recommend and stay here again. No issues other than just what we could hear easily. read more

Last Friday I came to this hotel to attend a conference nearby at the local hospital. Despite its name, it is rather smallish in size with a few floors, so it looks much bigger on the promotional literature than in reality. The travel website I booked on had a saving for a room with a queen bed, and kitchenette and the room were quite spacious, if not a little cold. On arrival, I found only one person at the reception desk who was helpful but did not particularly go out of her way to meet all my needs or point me in the right direction. And in fact she was the only person available that night, and when I checked out the following day. To her credit, it seems like the hotel had her covering every aspect from reception to breakfast arrangements. And in fact, there were very few employees around to meet the number of guests needs. And that's clearly something the hotel needs to improve on from a staffing perspective. So what are my findings: PROS: -Large rooms -they have basic amenities including an oven, fridge, and kitchenette -two televisions -large work desks -free wi-fi -Coffee and hot water pot available CONS -closets are rather small -The bathroom is a shower room only and could have been stocked with more towels, soaps, and cleansing essentials...a spare toothbrush and paste would have been appreciated -no restaurant...just a breakfast area with the basics provided -no shuttle service to and from public transportation and airport -not enough employees to meet everyone's needs Would I stay there again? Well if I am in the area probably, but otherwise no. All in all- an okay experience, but nothing to write home about. read more

We stayed at Crescent Suites in Oct 2010, and we loved it. Since then the economy has improved and their rates have increased therefore won't be staying there on an upcoming trip as this is not biz travel but on my own dime. Nightly rate including tax and AAA discount (April 2015) tops $200 so for 6 nights kind of steep for a solo trip. I don't know if they have weekly rates. With that said even at the higher price you get a lot more bang for the buck than staying at a corporate hotel, this is not a hotel room it is really an apartment. So for a longer stay or a family group (possibly requiring 2 typical hotel rooms) Crescent Suites is a great option. Also the excellent included breakfast would easly cost $10+ at a restaurant. So for a family group or business person on expense account this far surpasses the corporate hotels along route 128. And the personal service provided by the owner cannot be duplicated by a hotel chain. read more

We needed a place to stay with our dog while we visited our grandson in Arlington . The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. The full kitchen was spotless and well appointed. Coffee pot with coffee for the morning or a choice of Stash teas. Behind the hotel there was a well treed area to walk the dog. Complimentary breakfast was delicious, Both mornings eggs were available with meat and seasoned potatoes. Also cold cereal, oatmeal bagels and yogurt. We got married last October in Waltham, and wanted to find a hotel that was a little different for our guests. Yes, there are no shortage of chain hotels in Waltham, but our wedding theme was local and sustainable, and we wanted to extend this to the hotel, as well. By chance, we found out about Crescent Suites, and met with Michael Colomba, the owner. He couldn't have been nicer, and makes a mean cappuccino, as well. It didn't take much convincing that this was the place for us. The rooms are great, with full kitchens and all the other amenities you might need. The location is right up against the Charles river, where there are nice paths that will take you right into downtown Waltham (about one mile) or further along the river. The immediate neighboring buildings are a little sketchy, but apparently Michael is planning to buy these properties and expand the hotel in the next few years. My work booked this nice little hotel for me because it's just up the street from one of our offices, and while it's not the Ritz, it is a great and welcoming place. More like an inn with all modern amenities you could want, it is run by a very nice family that makes you feel you're staying in their 4-story guest house. Located just next to a river-walk, the hotel is quiet and relaxed. The rooms are nicely appointed (the "kitchenette" was larger than my actual kitchen at home) and clean. The complimentary breakfast is an actual breakfast, not package danish or cereal, made every morning and the owner will definitely push a homemade cappuccino on you. Make sure you let him - one of the best cappuccinos I've had in a while. In all, I highly recommend Cresent Suites, though I can see how the appeal might be limited by its location in relatively sleepy Waltham. read more

I have been a Yelp member for over a year and have never written a review before, but this place needs to be spoken for. We LOVE this place. From my very first experience with Crescent Suites, I spoke to Julianna who was very accomodating and held the last room for us because I didn't have my credit card ready and I was booking last minute. My sister was graduating from Bentley and we needed a close hotel. Everyone we have had contact with has been an absolute pleasure. Crescent Suites is a cute, quiet establishment tucked away near the Charles River in Waltham, MA. It's close to Moody St which is easily the most "happenin" part of the Waltham neighborhood. It's just walking distance from the historic Watch Factory and the riverside path which is beautiful walk to explore. The suite I stayed in had a king bed and a kitchen with a microwave, dishwasher, and oven. The place is cute and the staff are friendly, leaving cookies at the front desk and snacks/fruit by the front door for you to grab. A few areas of improvement: The bed I slept in was quite stiff in an uncomfortable way (especially for side-sleepers). The breakfast is okay but sort of hit or miss and kind of underwhelming for a hotel "breakfast bar". It's clear that they're trying to cut costs based on the quality of the food they provide for breakfast and even the "groceries" they offer for purchase (think microwave ramen and mac & cheese). Also the room I stayed in suffered from some noise pollution from the room next door. This is because there was a door connecting the suites which made it easy to hear the other residents. Noise-level really depended on the guests staying in the connecting room at the time but I'd definitely recommend requesting a room that doesn't have a connecting door. I'd also suggest the kitchen be stocked with some type of cooking oil/soy sauce/basic spices or provide it on request. read more

The Crescent is located in unique but convenient location, with both business and residential properties. It has a great feature--a long walk along the river out the back door. In fact, it is a short (10 minute) walk along the river to downtown Waltham and great restaurants and a movie theatre. We stayed a week, had our dog, and he loved it too. The rooms are all suites, large and well-appointed with a complete kitchen. The place is clean and serves a great breakfast. To top it off, the front desk staff is very helpful, friendly and professional. No question, this will be our go-to place to stay in Boston. read more

She is a country dog and is amazed at the city goings on and the river. She excitedly returns to our room and feels at home. I wish she was this good at home lol. This place is the antithesis of a typical chain hotel -- and that's a GREAT thing! It all boils down to the vision and work ethic of the owner, Michael, who truly (and personally) runs the hotel the way I'd like a hotel to be run -- exceptional value, the total absence of nickle-and-dimeing me to death, and more, contribute to a true demonstration of "hospitality." The room we stayed in was their smaller suite - a bedroom larger than typical with a full kitchen attached (including an oven, microwave, coffee maker, fridge, plates, silverware, glasses, etc.). The furniture was comfortable (although I found the bed just a bit hard.) The bathroom was fine and did not suffer from the dim lighting that many hotels feel is sufficient. As another poster mentioned, the hotel sits next to a couple of slightly "sketchy" buildings, but that is more than made up for because the rear of the hotel is set against the Charles River and its bike & jogging trail. The hotel also provides a beautiful large grass picnic area adjacent to the trail with tables and high-end gas grill/smokers; a beautiful way to "get away" on a nice afternoon. WiFi is free and worked quite well (even in the picnic area.) And then there's the constant offer of "can I get you anything" every time I walked in, but it's never a "what can I SELL you" -- because they do not charge anything extra for ANYTHING! It could be a fresh-made cappuccino, a bottle of imported sparkling water, fresh-baked apple turnovers, grilled sausages or pizza in the afternoon, and more. And then there's the breakfast -- every ingredient fresh to the point that they slice their own potatoes, season their eggs perfectly, and more. I've stayed at many "luxury" hotels, but I can certainly say that its only at the Crescent Suites that I felt truly welcomed as a guest, rather than as a wallet to be emptied. I was looking for a reasonably priced hotel around Boston that allowed dogs and it took me a long time to find a good place, but I am so happy I found the Cescent Suites Hotel! They allow pets for no extra fee and their rooms are quite modern yet still have a touch of home. The beds are super comfy, you have a full kitchen at your disposal, and the bathroom is well designed. The best part is that there are trails next to the Charles River right behind the hotel which is very convenient for walking dogs. There is also a playground, a place to grill and some sun chairs out back. When you arrive, they offer to make you an espresso or capaccino which is a nice touch. It is a bit confusing navigating your way back here after visiting downtown Boston, so a GPS would be helpful (hotel is located in a residential neighborhood). I believe there are restaurants within walking distance of the hotel as well. The BEST part is the most wonderful included breakfast. Fresh eggs with cheese and ham, scalloped potatoes, bagels, etc. They also make a delicious capaccino. The kitchen nook is very inviting. If I return to Boston, this hotel is a MUST to stay at. read more

The hotel is clean, roomy, and kids-friendly! Better bring fishing-rod because you can catch big fish in the back of the hotel. The view of charles river here is wonderful. My kids brought bread and fed the ducks.. they enjoyed it. You can grilled the fish in the hotel backyard while your kids could play swings. A very solid place to stay, particularly for families and groups, at a very good price. Perfect for families visiting Boston College, Brandeis or BU. The breakfast was insanely crowded on the weekend, so don't come for that, but otherwise the whole experience was wonderful. Very clean, well constructed, fast, free, dependable WiFi, a basic exercise room, excellent customer service that included a terrific directory to the area, beautiful area in the back, on the Charles RIver. Michael (the owner) is fantastic. everything about this place was great. the rooms were sparkling, the staff was super friendly, and super affordable. from the moment we arrived we were treated with the best hospitality ever. we were offered cookies and a cappuccino. Michael was also very helpful in recommendations for our day trip to Boston. i just can't say enough good things about this place. so if you are looking for a great place to spend a day or a week or a month in waltham, i highly recommend Crescent Suites. walking distance from downtown Waltham and to the commuter train to take into Boston. Why would you stay anywhere else? I am in my third week residence at the Crescent Suites Hotel in Waltham. It has been absolutely delightful. Michael, the gracious owner, is a master of detail. The lobby is warm and welcoming, with a candle flickering to greet guests on a cold night. The rooms are immaculate, tastefully finished to feel more like a room in someone's home than a hotel room. The full kitchen is spotless and outfitted with all the necessary accouterments, including even a garbage disposal and granite counter top. The white duvets are so clean, the towels thick and plentiful. The desk provides ample room to set up an office, and the room is so bright that it is a pleasure to stay and work there. There is a lot of cabinet and closet storage space. The staff is excellent. Kate and Katie at the desk could not be more friendly or helpful. The ladies cooking breakfast know their craft and prepare a sumptuous breakfast every day. Even the coffee is great and piping hot. There is a heated garage downstairs, with remote controls given to guests-this was very helpful during multiple large snowstorms. The parking lot is plowed continuously during storms to make egress a snap. Directly behind the hotel is a segment of the Charles River walk, which provided a welcome diversion for my dog, who was also welcomed at the hotel. The rooms, by the way, are well insulated and very quiet, unlike most hotels I have visited. You would never know there is a dog or two in residence. If you are planning a visit to Boston this is the PERFECT place to stay. A short drive gets you to Riverside Station for an easy T ride into the city. A hotel stay does not get any better than this; it is well worth the price. read more

Most impressive were their eco-friendly practices, including reusable plates, utensils, mugs and cups, recycling available in lobby, conditioner/shampoo dispensers, and option not to wash linens daily. Only criticism is too many single use food products, which are wasteful, and could easily be replaced with more sustainable products, particularly the cereals, yogurt, syrup and sugar. We spent two weeks in this hotel while our daughter (attending college in the area) recuperated from surgery. We brought her dog along for moral support and the hotel was welcoming and accommodating. The hotel, the staff, the location are all exceptional. We are very happy to have found them. Close to restaurants and shopping, with a lovely walking trail along the Charles River. My wife and I have stayed at the Crescent Suites Hotel twice. The Hotel is perfect. The owner and staff are warm, courteous and very accommodating. The guest rooms are large, well-designed, and exceptionally clean. All have fully equipped kitchens, flat-screen TVs, good quality furniture, and very comfortable beds. The bathrooms have high quality fixtures and are well-stocked with plush towels and toiletries (even a first aid kit). The free breakfast includes individually prepared espressos and cappuccinos, exceptionally delicious coffee, and a huge variety of hot and cold foods. You can have eggs cooked to order.
