Stayed here for a few nights for work and it was a decent experience. Hyatt House is an apartment hotel featuring a full kitchen, separate living/sleeping area, along with amenities including a gym, pool, bar, restaurant, and coin laundry. Property is located in a quiet industrial park with plenty of parking on-site. There are several hotels in the vicinity too. Check-in was a touch odd as their system was "down" and I got my key merely by showing my ID. Wanted to grab a bite at the restaurant, only to be told that both the bar and restaurant were "closed" that evening only... There are limited dining options within walking distance. Downtown Waltham is a quick 10 minute Uber ride away. The 1 bedroom apartment was spacious featuring a full kitchen, including a range, microwave, and dishwasher. The living area featured a sofa bed along with a separate TV. The bedroom featured a comfy bed, separate TV. The bedroom closet had an iron, but no ironing board. Plenty of towels, soaps, dishwashing detergent, dishwasher tablets were provided. It was a bummer that the body wash was empty when I attempted to use it. Breakfast was decent for being complimentary. There was usually some sort of powdered eggs, an omlette station, or hard boiled eggs along with some sausages, pancakes, pastry, and fruit selection. While the rooms in this hotel were fine, it tended to be loud from the neighbors, from above and from outside... coupled with the fact the AC unit was in the room with the master bed, which seemed like an odd choice (noise-wise). The staff was friendly, but despite asking for no housekeeping, that didn't keep them from entering the room while I was away after two days. Breakfast is fine. It's no better or worse than everything hotel chain at this level, which means I usually just stuck with the coffee. read more

We had a disappointing experience during our stay. Although we booked the room for multiple days, the cleaning staff attempted to enter our room as if we were supposed to check out. When we asked the front desk, one staff member confirmed we didn't need to check out and check back in since our booking was continuous. However, another front desk staff later told us it was our own fault, which was confusing and unhelpful. The miscommunication between the staff made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. read more

A solid 3-star place to stay. Rooms are basic, with comfortable beds. Bathrooms seemed remodeled with pretty/comfortably spacious showers. Looks like some rooms have kitchenettes but mine was just a single room, and still came with a mini fridge and coffee maker. The breakfast was a big surprise in the best of ways: so many options and actually some real food (which I never expect at this kind of place with their corn syrup jellies and scary hard boiled eggs). The oatmeal was delicious with nice toppings! They had a rotation of warm foods, like waffles, pancakes and eggs (that probably came out of a box but still - hey! not to be taken for granted!). The coffee was good and the dining area was pleasant. I'd get tired of it after more than maybe three days but it's a fine place to stay if you need to be somewhere nearby. Definitely nothing to get excited about in the "yay- we are staying at a hotel!" sense but totally fine, clean, comfortable, pleasant. Staff were all very nice. read more

If I could give this location a zero I would. Walking into the building i was immediately shocked by the tremendously dirty lobby and a horrible smell. hoping to give the place a chance I walked into my room. Way smaller than expected with no blankets for pull out bed. Sticky floors, half way connected toilet paper holders, duck tape on a place in the floor. The ice maker does not work and pool had no clean towels. Staff at bar was incredibly rude and kept giving dirty looks. I will never go to this location ever again and I hope this review leads others to know that besides the cheap prices this hotel is an absolute nightmare. read more

I do not normally rate a hotel based on its hotel bar, but I just have to say that we visited the hotel bar for a drink on a Saturday night. The bartender was horrible. She did not want to be there and made it apparent to the full bar of customers. To get a second drink, we had to practically beg to get her attention. Crazy because she must work for tips. At 11 o'clock she slapped our bill in front of us and told us that she wanted to get out of there. We were overcharged by $15 and she grudgingly changed the bill. Otherwise the hotel was fine. Rooms were a bit dirty and the bathrooms need a good scrubbing. Our room had a strange odor that we could not identify We stay here every year because of the location. My advice... It's just after spending an 18-hr day traveling and working, one isn't exactly thrilled to get to their hotel room and hear every word of their neighbor's, errr, dalliance? Despite the fact I was bordering "Karen status", she was patient, kind, professional, helpful. She got me a room away - and then another room away from folks who were very loud. She and Paul put me into a quieter one - well, so we thought. LOL Narrator: It was indeed not a quieter room. *wink* Meanwhile, hats off to Martine, Greg and Paul!!! Great team. So I woke up after not having slept well after working an 18-hr day and was truly considering changing my name to Karen. I was not in a good mood. But then I ran into Yolanda at the breakfast station. She had that area spotless and kept those coffee dispenser's full. Coffee is a big deal, my friend. In fact, I only get jealous of another woman if her coffee is bigger than mine!! *wink* So Yolanda and her breakfast saved my day!! BTW, about the breakfast station? Nice array of items from which to choose, including fresh mixed fruit cups. You often get whole fruit or canned fruit or soggy frozen fruit, but this was nice and fresh. Enjoy your French toast or eggs and smile at Ms. Yolanda because she's surely smiling at you. After breakfast, I was much happier but uh, not happy. I hate to be a customer but I am indeed a customer, and I didn't want to have my previous night's stay repeated. That's when I ran into Mgr Dorothy. Let me just say that, were I still in operations, I'd be stealing Ms. Dorothy TODAY. That good. Dorothy smiled with no excuses and no nonsense and just fixed the issue. All action with little talk. Yes, that kind of person still exists. Better yet? She's gotta be the nicest no-nonsense person I've met in a long while. Sweet even. She put me in this amazing room and handled my reservations and more. All of this, added to a clean room merits a 5-star review. Thanks to all. Added note: So I wrote this after I stayed one night and before nights two and three. Sigh. What to say? The 5-star stands because anything under the control of the people at the hotel is stellar - customer service, breakfast, cleanliness, etc. I have nothing but compliments for the people. But the walls are so thin - thin enough where it wasn't my neighbors who kept me up. Nope, they were merely speaking at perfectly acceptable noise levels. So do keep this in mid when booking. First off, service was fine. Room cleaning was also done very nicely. Other than that, really nothing so great in this hotel. It's shaped like 3 big circles so you have to walk forever to get to your hotel room if it's in the middle of the floor (as we did, many times). I never knew which way to turn to make the shortest trip. Worst thing was we got into our room on the first floor and the bathroom was teeming with ANTS. UGH the heebie jeebies. We immediately went to the front desk and thankfully the woman switched us to a room on the second floor without issue. No ants in this one, thankfully. I did notice while walking through the building that some rooms were being worked on, lots of ceiling tiles missing in one section of the floor, some wet or moldy spots on the ceilings in the hallways, too. What is going on?? The room itself was fine - air conditioning worked very well so we were comfortable both nights we stayed. Plenty of space and could have had someone sleeping on the couch, too. But, when you first walk in the room, the light switch does nothing. None of the bedroom, kitchen or living room switches do anything! You have to turn on the lamps by hand and I have no idea if you can turn on the kitchen lights - we never figured out how. So you basically walk into a very dark room and have to wander to find the lamps. Sink area and bathroom were both fine - shower worked well. Another small peeve is the bedroom and living room windows had double curtains - a thin one and a blackout one. This works great, except in the bedroom the blackout one didn't quite touch the bottom of the window sill and let in street lights and sunlight in the EXACT spot where it hits your face on your pillows. Comically accurate. Had to use my sleeping mask to block out that pseudo laser beam. Overall I would not recommend staying here. Ants! mold! sub par....stuff. There are about 3049 other hotels in that same area, so pick another. read more

TLDR: Booked a room here and was turned away for the hotel being fully booked, aka our room does not exist aka they probably just gave our room away. Please, do not stay here. For your own mental sanity. A reservation means nothing in this place. We requested an early check-in at 11 AM, and when we called the day of, they said our room was not ready and should probably be ready at 12PM. Since we had to be somewhere, we asked if we could just check in later in the night, like at 10 or 11PM since we had only 1 full day in Boston and we had plans to meet up with people in the city the whole day. Whoever we spoke to said - SURE! As long as it's before 12AM/midnight. So we proceeded to enjoy our day. We get to the hotel at 11PM. The front desk asks us for the last name and first name that the reservation was under. Then she proceeds to tell us that she sees our reservation but says they're all sold out and that there are no rooms available. Basically we had to scramble and find a room to sleep in for the night - elsewhere. All the Hyatt House offered us from the front desk was 1 point on our membership and a refund. We did not care about any of it, and just wanted our room that we RESERVED. Not really sure why the system being down has anything to do with our room not existing, when we were not one of the 10 bookings that happened today. We booked this room a month ago, so it should very well be in the system. Also, if we weren't in the system, why did the person earlier say our room would be ready by 12? What happened to that room? Did they just sell our room for a higher price to someone else because we paid a lower price than what someone who just waltzed in would pay? We will never be staying at another Hyatt House. Although, the bathroom is pretty small, everything else is spacious. The staff is wecolming and very accommodating. The parking is accessible on both sides of the building. The hotel itself is located within walking distance of some eating establishment. Ideal for a nice and quiet getaway. read more

Horrible Horrible Horrible!!!! Construction going on at the hotel and wasn't made aware of it. Banging and pounding all day and night long. Very very loud. Stay away if you have young children or pets. Tried to call the front desk and the phone in the room wasn't working. Tried several times then used my cellphone to call. I asked if this was the front desk and the man told me to dial "0". I did that and got the same person who was at the front desk. For the size of the suite, the service, and all the amenities included, I thought that this was a great place for the price. My only complaint about this place was that I was checked into a room that smelled of heavy Indian food. It was a good thing I was able to block off the smell overnight by closing the double doors between the bedroom and the kitchen/living room area. The next morning, the lady at the front desk quickly checked me into a different room. Overall, the entire suite seemed pretty clean. Although I didn't make use of the full kitchen, it was nice to have it there and it definitely helped to have a fridge during my stay. There's one TV in the main area (with a nice couch) and another TV in the bedroom. I was glad the hotel offered free wifi, otherwise I would've felt out of touch with the outside world (this area seems pretty secluded). I took advantage of the free breakfast everyday. Considering it was all free, I thought the selection of food was decent. I wouldn't recommend drinking the milk they put out though. I took a huge gulp of skim milk one morning, and it tasted like it was close to spoiling. I managed to go to the gym a few times during my stay. Although it's a small gym, the machines work well and each cardio machine has a small TV attached to it. The hotel even provides free headphones. I do wish this gym was bigger though, because if quite a few people are there, it gets overcrowded pretty easily. If you're planning on staying around Waltham for at least a few days, this would be a comfortable and convenient place to stay. read more

My stay here was comfortable and pleasant. Staff was great! I stayed for two nights. It was like a home away from home. The room was very spacious. The living room was a delight. The bedroom has a television and an amazing bed. The bathroom was well lit and roomy. The Equipped kitchen was surprising, oven, coffee maker, dishwasher, etc.! If you plan on staying for a day or two feel free to bring groceries. :) They offer a laundry room ($2 for the wash , $2 for the dryer), coffee & breakfast. Not too many places within walking distance so be prepared to drive. Once in town there are plenty of places to eat and shop. Waltham is great and so, so glad I chose the Hyatt House. :) read more

Recent stay in Waltham found us at the Hyatt house. Great proximity to the bike trail although you can't ride from the hotel. Or you could, but you would be taking your life in your hands! Room was spacious with kitchenette living area and private bedroom. Breakfast was generous with him let's do order, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt fruit and hot variety which varied from French toast, pancakes, bacon, sausage, and oatmeal. Variety of fresh fruits fruit, cereal, donuts and breads for toast. Heated outdoor pool was still available in late September. Only complaint was noise, we were in the front of the building and found a lot of conversations and car alarms until 3 am. read more

I unfortunately got covid a few days before my staying and the manager did not approve my refund when cancelled - basically they prefer me coming and staying at the hotel with covid and spread the virus around, than protect their clientele, they do not care about service, about safety, all what they care is about the money you pay.. and I did not get my refund! I am more conscious about spreading the virus and get people sick at the hotel than them.. please stay away of this place! read more

OK to be fair, the hotel that we received was a junior king size bed suite and it was absolutely fabulous. It was top floor, one common wall, corner suite which is exactly what I asked for. My husband and I were traveling the night before we had to leave for Los Angeles and we checked in at midnight so everything went really, really well. The problem came the next day when I was naked in the living room, getting ready for a shower and the maid entered into the room. When I said get out because I was startled, the maid had the audacity to stand in the living room and ask me when I was leaving or when am I checking out. I told her to get out and she stepped back into the hallway I slammed the door in her face because I was mortified and pissed, and she stood behind the door and asked again when am I checking out so she could clean the room. Upon checking out I gave this information to the proprietor who informed me that the GM would be calling me the next day. This was October 2 and it is now October 4 and I still have not heard back. Shame on Hilton they should be teaching these ladies how to knock on the door and ask if a weary traveler needs service before entering a room. read more

Good location for business in Waltham but the rooms aren't well maintained. I had a problem with my room's temperature control not working properly. Night one, it was running full blast AC. I reported the problem in the morning and they didn't exactly fix the problem. They went the full opposite way to no AC at all, so the room was boiling. Night one: 50 degrees in the room (I'm surprised I didn't get sick), night two: 80 degrees in the room with the window open all night (no screen either, hello bugs!). My wife and I were visiting Boston for a few days and we thought this was a nice and decent place to stay. However, our last few nights weren't the greatest. The night before we left, a couple was staying next to us and they were being extremely obnoxious and noisy (saying foul words and yelling) We made a complaint to the front desk asking if they can send someone to their room and tell them to please lower their voices since this was around 1am and my wife and I were preparing to leave the next day. There was no resolution to this complaint and the front desk even asked us what is the room next to us- asked us "can you step outside and check what room number it is" When the front desk asked us, we were puzzled because how does the front desk service not know the hotel layout? Also, my wife and I slept in late the next day since we were bothered by the noise the night before, room service knocked on our door around 9am with the nerve to ask us what time we are leaving!!! we are still sleeping and your check out time is at 12 noon. We felt like asking guest in the morning what time they will check out so they can clean the room is disrespectful . If you are planning to visit Boston area, do not book here. read more

For the most part, my experience at Hyatt House deserves 4 stars. The rooms were surprisingly comfortable and perhaps newly remodeled. The fact that all rooms are suites (and legitimately have 2 rooms) with a full-sized kitchen is a huge bonus. I enjoyed being able to make my own coffee in the morning, being able to toast a piece of bread, and having a fridge. The kitchens are much more modern than what you find at Homestead Suites or Extended Stay. I found the rooms to be comfy (especially the sectional couch), the bed to be pleasant, and the bathroom to be a bit average. I was a huge fan of their free (and FAST) WIFI along with their free breakfast every morning. I was actually pleasantly shocked that they really provide a full free breakfast every morning (typical fare includes scrambled eggs, a variety of toasts, waffle maker, pastries, cereals, fruits, french toast, breakfast potatoes, sausage or bacon, coffee, tea, juices, yogurt, etc.). Although during the weekend the buffet was a bit crowded there was never really any shortage of food. The weekday was pretty dead and they still served a full breakfast. The food was actually good (hey, it's free) and definitely allowed me to fill up and skip lunch! I would have liked to have tried one of their 'free evening social dinners' as well during a weekday but I wasn't around. How can you go wrong with free breakfast and free dinner!? The hotel price was good...I booked it on a 48 hour deal for about $80 a night which I thought was a bargain for what you got. Not sure what it normally runs. The staff was pleasant and actually allowed me check-in at 9am because I had, had a red eye into Boston. Very nice. My only complaint is the incredibly thin walls. I mean VERY thin. I was on the 2nd floor for one night and it sounded like bodies were being dropped on the floor when the family above us moved around. I could also hear their baby screaming all day. I called the front office to ask for a different room and unfortunately they didn't have any available but assured me the family would be checking out the following morning. The family then unfortunately extended their stay and I heard the same noise all day and night again. Finally they moved us to the 3rd floor which more quieter and more pleasant. I would recommend asking for a 3rd floor room, if possible. Or else you'll hear your neighbors quite loudly. All in all, not a bad experience and I would return if they ran a similar deal. read more

I agree with the other reviews regarding the pathetic breakfast options but since I don't eat breakfast, this isn't a big deal for me. I love the fact that the suite is actually a suite, with a very spacious living room, modern kitchen, and comfortable bedroom separated by double doors. Loved the two flatscreen televisions, and the big bed. Received warm welcome upon arrival and was settled in quickly, and immediately connected to their genuinely high speed free Wi-Fi. The location can't really be helped - aside from it's classy and compact Moody Street area, Waltham is a nasty, anonymous, un-walkable, un-bikeable, suburban town consisting of bland, isolated office parks, horrendous traffic, and a highway exit which has been under construction for at least 15 years. Anyone who is expecting to be 'just outside of Boston' is in for a rude surprise. But none of that is the hotel's fault - they are to commended for offering a bit of an oasis in an otherwise dreadful area. read more

I was here for a family wedding for 3 nights. Comfortable beds and great breakfast included. We had a 2 bedroom suite for my wife and me, my mother in law, and my brother in law. My half of the suite life was fine, but the other bedroom had TV and phone issues that were not completely addressed by the staff. In addition, my MIL couldn't find here denture and thinks the staff cleaner disposed of the by accident. She expects full financial compensation... I think she will be disappointed. Brother in law used what was supposed to be a heated pool. He found the water quite chilly. Had a drink at the bar on Sunday night...was quite nice and the bartender was friendly. The area is convenient with many restaurants in the area. Easy access on and off I95. I could the price to be quite excessive for the quality and amenities... This is one the BEST places my family and I have ever stayed. We had a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen. They even supplied plates, bowls, cups, glasses, and flatware for 4. Pots, pans, cooking utensils, dish towel, dish soap were also supplied. My husband and I enjoyed closing the bedroom doors while our daughter, her friend, and our 10 yr. old granddaughter comfortably slept on the pull out sleeper sofa, and side sofa. I can't stand hotel beds but this is the first one where I did not wake up stiff and sore. The front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. The continental breakfast had a very large variety of items to choose from, including an omelet station. The bar prices are pretty high and the food prices are ridiculous. A beer and mixed drink were almost $20.00. There are not easy to get to places in this area so you have to drive no matter where you want to go. This review is primarily for the Hyatt House Waltham's bar, "H Bar." My husband and I arrived around 10:30pm on a Thursday night to find the bar almost closing (at 11) - but there was still a party of 3 or so. Our bartender, Eric, was so friendly and knowledgeable! He made us feel like the bar would be open for several more hours with his generous pours and excellent conversation! He helped my husband choose the right alcohol and ratio for an old fashioned, and was generous with his Chardonnay pouring for me. He knew the area well, was so down to earth, and truly made us feel welcome. He was a gem to find on a random, late Thursday night. We are first time guests, but couldn't recommend the Hyatt House and Eric strongly enough! read more

We have stayed here every time we are in the Boston area for the last 12 years, we average a stay per year. The facilities are nice and quiet and really help balance the busy feel of being in town and crowded on the T. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are fantastic. We have been in everything from a 2 bedroom suite to a 1 bedroom conference suite. As parents, it is nice to be able to go to bed, shut the door and actually sleep. The kids love having their own area and we appreciate the mess being confined to their area. The breakfasts are popular with our family, the kids eat a variety of options. I appreciate the fruits that are available in addition to the very carb heavy options. The evening snacks are nice but could certainly be refilled more frequently. read more

Approximately two hours after checkout, we noticed that we left our cooler bag (large, fairly new, clean) in the refrigerator. We made our way back to the hotel and the staff said that no item was found in the room but to try back tonight. After multiple calls and emails, the staff dismissed the stolen/missing property from the room - we were told to follow-up with a supervisor (given name, phone number) - two emails sent and no response from the Hyatt House. It absolutely surprising and disappointing that a hotel chain like the Hyatt can show no care or attention to the concerns of a guest. I felt dismissed by the staff with no regard to my property. read more

This hotel has so much potential. Our room was clean and spacious; it had an awesome, fully-equipped kitchenette; and the beds were comfortable. The front-desk staff and breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful. There were two big downfalls that made our stay unpleasant: the noise and the smells. We had a corner room on the 2nd floor, right next to a side exit. Apparently this exit was the smoking place. So every time people went out to smoke -- hotel staff and guests -- they would slam the door that was right on the other side of my head when I was sleeping. Then they would stand outside talking, fighting, yelling, laughing...and I could hear all of it. This happened about 12 times each night. The hallway wreaked of smoke, and I couldn't open the windows on an otherwise ideal spring evening due to the smokers. At one point people were sitting in a car blasting music out in the parking lot. I called the front desk, who went around to talk to them. Then it started again, so I called the desk again... The night-shift guy was pretty much impotent. This charade of blaring music, slamming doors, and smokers quarreling and guffawing went on most of the first night. Needless to say, it really affected my visit to Boston, as I was so exhausted the entire time due to lack of sleep. This was especially frustrating, because the beds were actually really comfortable! To top it off, the front-desk staff was rather unresponsive and unsympathetic when my mother complained about the noise and smoke. In fact, the hotel seems to invite smoking there, as there is a cigarette disposal at the exit. Otherwise, even if you're lucky enough to avoid the outdoor noise and smoky odors, the doors everywhere are thunderous then they close. So be prepared to get startled awake at least a few times by your neighbors! After a frustrating sleepless night, though, you'll be greeted with an impressive breakfast. I'm grateful for that. This is a great hotel with a free shuttle, decent breakfast, full kitchens, suites with separate bedrooms, nice layout, full bathtubs, pet friendly and with windows that open. The renovated apartments are very nice while the others are dated in appearance. Staff is excellent. Lots of nearby restaurants that the shuttle will take you to, including several within walking distance. For the price I have to go with five stars while it's probably a 3.5 star hotel overall. read more

The only issue that I had with this hotel is that when I booked it; it showed that I had a king suite with a sofa bed and a kitchenette... But when I got there the lady gave me a Studio room with a king bed, microwave and mini fridge. So I went down there and explained to her and even showed her the confirmation I had on my phone when booked online and she told me that; that's not what she had on her end and all the rooms were booked and there was nothing she could do about it. So when my friend got here we were both disappointed, I had told her the whole situation and she was not too happy either. So then we both went down there, hoping that it was someone different on shift and she was going to explain the situation to them as well... Only to our surprise that it was the same person. She still told the lady everything that happened and the lady acted as if she didn't just talk to me and ended up giving us the room that I originally booked... Remind you my friend is a little older than me and a white female and I am a black female... It's very frustrating that when I went down there; there was nothing that could be done but when she went down there, she got us a room right away....it was my birthday on top of that so I wanted the room I booked for a reason. read more

I stay at Hyatt hotels about 4 times a year, evenly split between business and vacation. This time I went to this particular location for business. It was typical for the "Hyatt House" brand -- a decent, relatively clean, safe hotel that is several steps above the "Days Inn" type of hotel but not as nice as a Marriott Courtyard. The location of this hotel is convenient -- just on the outskirts of Boston, very convenient to major highways. It is just behind a Westin and in the midst of several other small mid-range hotels so the neighborhood had a safe feel to it. Within 2 miles there were plenty of places to eat, and a gas station was less than 1/2 a mile away. The staff at the front desk were pleasant, nothing to write home about, but they were fine and did their best. Not the type of staff you'd see at a Hyatt Regency, but this is a Hyatt House. The carpet in the facility was old and the building is beginning to feel slightly run-down but not too bad. The room itself is a mini-suite -- kind of like an efficiency apartment. Lots of room, especially for one person. Could easily hold more. The room itself was the bright spot, and most important really. The bed was not overly comfortable, but it was good and I slept very well. There was no excess noise. Breakfast, free, was crowded, but to be expected. The food was not great, but you get what you pay for. Their lowest point on breakfast is their coffee. It is atrocious. The in-room coffee is much better. Hotels in Boston are very expensive, and this one was at a good price point, so I wouldn't mind staying there again if it was just me. If there were others that were within $10 of the cost, I'd stay somewhere else, but this one was A-OK. read more
