For the price point, this was an excellent choice for us. Except for the worn carpeting, the room was very clean and thoughtfully laid out. My husband had a recent injury limiting his mobility, but it was very easy for him to walk from our car parked in their lot and up to our room. Check-in was a breeze. Rachele B. at the front desk greeted us warmly with her winning smile. She was efficient, kind, and covered all the essentials. She is one of a dwindling group of people who know how to do their job well and take pride in doing it well. She takes ownership, treats guests as though they had selected her hotel, and she does her best to try to make them happy and comfortable. Best hotel? No. Worst hotel? No. I give this place a 3 out of 5. The rooms are spacious and there is a nice little kitchenette and living area but it is just not very well taken care of. My shower had some sort of residue on the handle, there was an open safety pin on the floor that I nearly stepped on. I mean, it's not the worst but it needs some attention. In addition, there were sooo many kids in this hotel - what's going on with the kids?! They were in the halls, I could hear them running up and down, some were sitting in the hall outside my door, reading books. Where do I start? The infrastructure in our room (204) needed work. When the refrigerator would cycle it was so loud that it would wake us at night. The maintenance staff told us to turn down the cold control to prevent ice build up. That would work for a while. then it started again. We had to turn it completely off for 2-3 hours, then on to about 2/3 cold. Then the next day, it started again. The dishwasher did not work. We opened the breaker panel to find that the breaker had tripped. We reset it and the dishwasher worked, but shook and shuddered. It's not secured to the cabinetry and was very loose. The vanity in the bathroom needed a coat of paint. The seal on the shower door was loose, causing water to leak onto the floor. The water control in the shower fell off, landing on my foot. The cable to the TV was loose, and constantly needed to be tightened. There are no cable services like HBO, CNN,FOX, FX, etc. Just local channels and their sub-channels. The place was clean, but everything was in disrepair. Security- When we checked in, I wasn't asked for an ID or CC. The lady at the desk just looked at the name that I'd given her on her computer, issued us our cards, and detailed the breakfast and pool hours. Two nights later, we found that we'd left our card at our daughters. I just walked in and asked for a card to our room and was issued one. Again, no ID check. In this day & age, that's very lax and unacceptable. Breakfast- Basically the same every day. Scrambled eggs, under cooked sausage or decent bacon, and under cooked potatoes. Some fruit and cereal. Rarely was there any 'real' silverware available unless you got there early. More often than not, we had to use cheap plastic that broke. No lids for the coffee cups. One evening our grandson spent the evening. He's 5. We called down to the front desk and asked if they had side bumpers for the sofa bed. They said they did, and would send them up. Ten minutes later a gent knocked on our door with a garbage sack full of bedding. We tried to tell him what we wanted, but he didn't understand English, kept saying 'Front Desk.' We called the front desk, and were told by a different person that they didn't have such a thing. Another evening, we asked for coffee pods at the front desk, and were told that they didn't have any, but would find some and send them up. I pointed to a drawer that had been full of them the night before; she opened it, and gave me four pods from the nearly full drawer. No one seems to know what they're working with. The pool was always out of towels; we had to ask for them. The fresh water shower at the pool had to be held up with one hand, the knob that secures it didn't work. The staff were as kind and accommodating as could be expected with that they had to work with. But the place seriously needs work, and there's real difficulty in communicating with anyone but the front desk and maintenance staff. One morning I asked a housekeeper for 'four bath towels', and she gave me four washcloths. It strikes me that they're trying to save as much money as possible, hence the cheap cable and lackluster breakfast, and a generally confused atmosphere. I'd like to read of improvements before we stay there again. read more

Due to our family's needs, we try to stay at hotels with the suites when we are in Boston. Residence Inn typically fits the bill, we can sit quietly with our more elderly family members and not have to worry about going out somewhere, which is it's own hassle. This was our first time at the Needham Residence Inn, and it was nice enough that we will likely make this our new home base for family visits. This is clearly a newer hotel, and you can see it in the design. What I really liked was how open it felt, like you could grab your breakfast in the morning (continental!) and sit down and not feel that you were sitting practically on the group at the next table. In these times, space is king. Check in and check out are easy processes and there were a handful of luggage carts available. I'm not the person who needs a suite when traveling, but the needs of our extended family require it. There's lots of sitting areas and you can fill up the fridge with leftovers from your dinner if you want. We have elderly family that benefit from the couches in the suites. If we can make everyone comfortable, then that's one less thing to stress over, and who doesn't want that? The rooms are comfortable for a few nights, and the TV rotated so we could have it facing the bed or the couch. You can definitely tell the building is new in the bathroom, which was larger than I thought it would be and had a nice setup. We were there for a jam packed weekend and I felt relaxed in our room. I know the Needham Residence Inn will be our new home base for our family gatherings. It's convenient and comfortable and any hotel that can make these visits easier is a win in my eyes. read more

The computers in the lobby were a bit out of date and slow. Getting into my gmail was a trick. But the free breakfast was good and changed up a little day to day. Great place to stay for business. I really enjoyed the size of the room and the L shaped couch. I travel quite a bit so it was nice to be in a newly modeled, spacious, and modern space for a bit. The bed was very comfortable and the space was perfect for a long visit. I don't usually get breakfast or say much after check-in, so I can't comment on those amenities. However staff was very friendly and everyone was very accommodating. The hotel itself is very close to the Needham downtown area and is about 30 minutes from Boston. I liked the location because I enjoy being out of the hustle and bustle, and parking is free. It is next to a smaller outdoor mall area and there is a really great sandwich shop close by (Mighty Subs).There is also a Trader Joe's and grocery area/bagel shop about 10 mins away so there are options. I will defiantly be back! read more

If you need a Residence Inn in the area, this is the way to go (if you want downtown, the one at Fenway is for you BUT parking is outrageous there since it is valet-only): right off 128 (and the great new exit, decades in the making) and close to everything in Needham Center or the mess that has been created on Needham St with all the stores (note to those not from the area: bypass Needham St if you can, or wait until 10-11am or mid afternoon on weekdays). Free parking is plentiful in Needham, the ladies who run breakfast keep it immaculate and there is a lot of yogurt and fruit should you not want to eat the wonderful coffee cake (because one piece always leads to three pieces). Rooms are clean, the showers are nice and make the bathrooms feel even larger than they are with the glass enclosures. As others have mentioned, the only real "con" IS the CocaCola plant next door, and they start work early. If you are a light sleeper, mention in the reservation that you would like a room AWAY from the Coke plant and in an odd-numbered room. Bear in mind that half the hotel faces the plant and half does not, so if you are a Marriott Gold or Platinum member (like myself), your chances increase GREATLY :) The only thing I miss are the nightly (complimentary) snacks which are nice after a long day, but I could survive without crackers and cheese. They do have a bar so you can get food without having to go out, and they are one of the very rare Marriotts that sell Diet Coke in the market (DC is my one bad habit, so it is appreciated...and oh-so-fresh since it is bottled across the street). read more

Very warm and friendly front desk girl (Hispanic). The rooms were nice too. Unfortunately, the elevators wreaked of dog urine the entire stay we were there. They allow dogs so I understand the dilemma, but the smell was so bad and it was never cleaned! It smelled like our faces were literally in a toilet. It was unbearable in both elevators! They tried covering it up with sprays, but it was it desperate need of a carpet cleaning or change of carpet. Housecleaning service was good and the rooms were clean and tidy, however they missed a full cleaning day even after we confirmed it with the front desk. This caused us to require towel and trash service late at night and the workers bringing up blankets were indifferent and not very friendly about the drop off. To clarify, they were not housecleaning workers, it was the night runners who were not very nice. The actual housecleaners were friendly, though they talk too loudly in the early morning hours when you're trying to rest. Overall, the hotel has a lot of potential to be great, they just need to keep their elevators fresh and clean, have friendlier staff visiting the rooms at night, quiet down the housecleaning staff in the early hours, and make sure all front desk personnel learn from the Hispanic girl. She went above and beyond for us at every request. read more

Nice new hotel yet it won't be possible for me to stay here again due to the noise level coming from the Coca-Cola distribution plant next door. (Who builds a hotel next to a trucking facility?) As I write this at 6 am EST I've been awake for 3 hours due to noise of truck beeps backing up, trucks being loaded for hours prior to getting on the road- a complete lack of sleep during key hours of the night. I stay at Marriott's constantly, this hotel doesn't work for business travel, will have to choose another hotel next time. The least staff can do is put unsuspecting Marriott Rewards members in odd numbered rooms if possible to avoid the noise. read more

I stayed here briefly while traveling to Boston. The hotel was one of the cheaper ones you can get about a half an hour outside the city. The room I stayed in was very clean and looked relatively new. The room included a kitchen, a king bad, and a huge bathroom. Breakfast is included in your stay and was one of the better hotel chain breakfasts I've had. Their andouille breakfast sausage was nice and spicy and the coffee station was a little fancier than just cream and sugar. I also went to the gym in the morning to bike. Their gym is a decent sized space with plenty of natural light. Overall a good experience at a very clean hotel. The breakfast in the morning is a plus and its in a decent location to get to downtown. read more

This is my new go to hotel. It's much closer to my daughter's college than I realized. I pull up top a newer hotel that looks very nice outside. The lobby is extremely nice and well appointed. I was checked in by "John". He was so nice and just so helpful. He gave me some great information about my reservations. I get up top my room and was really happy. The room is Georgous. The kitchen is new and modern. There is a really comfy soda and av nice flat screen T.V. The bed is super comfortable. I stayed at a Marriott property in the city for the previous 2 nights. The room was 3 times the cost of this room and to be honest, I prefer this room. I'm booking this hotel right now for my next trip to Boston in a couple of weeks. read more

My experience with Residence Inn will be written in my journal as an absolute nightmare. There's a lot to say, but for the sake of easy reading, here's a breakdown: - I leave work around 4:30pm. There is a corporate event the night of at 7:00pm. My boyfriend checked into the room earlier in the day with my outfit and all my items for the event. - I arrive at 5:00pm. My boyfriend and I walk up to the room, but the card doesn't work. He goes downstairs to grab a new card, but it still does not open the door. He goes down a third time, and now (at about 5:40) a young man in casual clothing (certainly not work appropriate) waves a magnet in front of the door. It does not work. He says he'll be right back. - It is now a little after 6:00pm and the man does not return. My boyfriend and I go to the front lobby where the woman explains she called the technician, who left an hour ago. The door cannot be opened and the room cannot be accessed. The woman can not give a timeframe for when the technician will be there, and asks us to sit in the lobby, even though we've paid for a room. She is not apologetic or accommodating. - About 6:40pm, I go up to the front desk and ask why am I sitting in a lobby when I payed for a room. She gives me the key to a tiny corner room. She tells us she'll call the room when the technician has arrived. - At 7:20pm, the technician is working on the door. He fixes the issue promptly, but I am now late for my corporate event. Let's fast forward to the morning... - Right before 8:00am, we have a housekeeper knock on the door. We tell her not now. She asks when we will be leaving. Again folks, this is while we're still sleeping. She asks WHEN WE WILL BE LEAVING! I am still outraged by this. - Fast forward maybe half an hour? A housekeeper just walks in the room. No knock, not a single warning. She just walks in on us and said that since there was no "Do Not Disturb" sign hung on the door, she didn't think it was a problem to start cleaning. The manager refunded me for this stay, but I cannot stress my displeasure with this hotel strongly enough. I wish I had payed more for an overall better hotel and experience. read more

I thought that I slept on Papa Bear's bed because it was too hard and uncomfortable. Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable. I couldn't find the ice bucket and there was no ice in the fridge and ice maker was off. I had sausage and scrambled eggs for the breakfast. Having home fries would be nice but it was not there. I booked the residence Inn for its close proximiy to an interview location. That being said I would definitely book again. The night staff both at check in and in the bar area were super friendly, efficient and great conversationalists. I went up to my room and found that everything was neat, organized, clean.. and there was a kitchen ( WITH MICROWAVE POPCORN INCLUDED!!) The bed was a nice mix of firm and soft and the sheets were pristine. I went down to get food ( mostly because after being stuck in traffic for way over an hour... there was no way I was driving again). I got the chop chop salad with chicken. The chicken was moist the greens were fresh and the kitchen accomodated my gluten free-ness. I was rather indecisive in terms of drinks and the bar tender made a bunch of recommendations after i defined what i wanted as "sweet but not fruity." She was great! Overall, I was sad that I only stayed one night. As for the other details... great price, amazingly spacious parking lot, and not the hardest place to find. read more

Pros: great location.....close to many restaurants.......Clean hotel from top to bottom.....rooms appear to be brand new.... bathrooms huge....comfortable bed....large couch....great kitchen......very friendly and accommodating staff...free parking(which is hard to find anywhere in Boston or its suburbs). Cons: Paper thin..... I mean PAPER THIN walls and ceilings. I heard my next door neighbors going to the bathroom and was awakened in the middle of night by regular conversations of people walking past in the hallway. Breakfast was disappointing. Kind of what you would expect at a days inn....and previous posts are correct about the COKE plant across street. LOUD very early in the morning. I would have asked for a room change if staying another few days. Overall though, I will definitely stay there again. Pros definitely outweigh the cons. read more

This hotel is very nice. It has great staff and very fast service during COVID-19. The room was big, it has a very nice gym, the pool was nice, and it was easy to park. But the only thing was that they need to fix on the front, and side of the shower their was mold, they need to fix that like I said, but it was very nice and I do recommend coming here. It felt very clean in the lobby, and the room. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Do come here if you don't want to stay in the city part of Boston. read more

They do have a complimentary hot buffet breakfast in the mornings and they offer complimentary socials in the evenings some days, but I think it would be nice to have the option for room service. GYM: Though up-to-date, very small. Two treadmills, two elliptical and a stationary bike. Open 24 hours and has tv's mounted. Will probably use it tonight. I would stay at this hotel again, but again, I was disappointed about the lack of food options available, especially since this is in an industrial area, nothing really in walking distance. Wow! I was very impressed with the Residence Inn Needham. I booked a standard room with a king bed, but must have been upgraded for free - my room had a full kitchen (complete with a fridge and dish washer), a living area with large TV, and a huge bathroom. It was probably the nicest hotel room I've ever stayed in. The hotel itself is new and the check-in staff were friendly. They offer free breakfast in the morning. I couldn't believe I was at a Residence Inn - I felt like I was at a much ritzier boutique hotel. I'd definitely recommend this location, and will certainly stay here again next time I'm in the Boston area. read more

The staff here is AMAZING! They made a huge, clean hotel with awesome amenities even better. Free breakfast = win, always. Free *healthy* breakfast with hot options, Greek yogurt, waffles, egg whites, Nutella in adorable tiny containers = more of a win. Our room was huge and luxurious, super modern and nice. There's also a free shuttle to the train station (ask them about 30 minutes before you'd like to leave and they'll get it all set up for you). A lot of people complained about the noise from the Coke plant, so we were proactive and just kept the AC fan on all night and didn't have any issues. Being super jet lagged probably helped as well :) Seriously cannot say enough good things about every staff member here! Thanks for a great trip. read more

The hotel was clean, the price was reasonable, and the staff was friendly. The room was well appointed though I did not find the mattress especially comfortable. Parking was ample but the parking lot was very awkward. Additionally, I have a full-sized pick-up and could not easily park anywhere near the front door. (That's not a criticism as that's par for the course for me but someone might find that useful.) The workout facilities were typical for a hotel (just the basics) and the pool was microscopic. Don't plan on swimming laps. I didn't try the breakfast so can't speak to that. My biggest challenge with the place is the location. No restaurants nearby and delivery options seemed pretty limited. Close to my office was a bonus but a little frustrating finding decent places to eat nearby. Still, the room was a nice size and clean and that's the most important thing for me. read more

It's right in the middle of what has to be the most depressing office park in America. There isn't so much as a convenience store walkable to the hotel, much less a restaurant. It's just a big parking lot surrounded by office buildings. Also--make sure you get a room facing away from the Coca Cola plant unless you like the sound of trucks loading and unloading early (very early) in the morning. First time stay at Residence Inn Needham. Hotel was recently renovated and looks great. large room, comfortable, clean and the price was excellent compared to other hotels nearby. Staff was friendly, breakfast was good and the hotel is convenient to Boston without the city price. I travel a lot for business and will stay here again. I am very sensitive to noise and regarding the construction as I read from other reviews, yes there was some noise but it did not start till 8AM on weekday and was not very loud as the room noise is well insulated. so overall a perfect place for me. read more

What a great place to stay! Totally impressed with this Marriott. It is newly built I think, it looks new anyway which makes me believe it is well cared for. They have free breakfast which is very similar to the Hampton. Very impressed with the fact they have free breakfast and it is good. While they were able to move me to a different room, they denied my request for a discount for that terrible evening. we go to boston once yearly to see the red sox and stay at the residence inn needham---have had issues occasionally in the past but this time the experience was great!! the inn is convient to Boston and Fenway park and the rooms there are comfortable with a big refrig so drinks and food could be kept in the room. They offer a free breakfast that is ehh--the hot food is not great but they do offer bagels, rolls,juice ,fruit cereal and coffee which is good..Coffee is avail 24/7 which is great and they offer a sweet snack complementary in the evening--The only negatives are there is really nothing near the inn if one wants food or a snack--only the overpriced inn offerings and make sure you ask for a room not facing the coke plant due to noise---they also offer extra Marriott points for declining housekeeping which is good but results are guest putting their garbage outside there door which could attract vermin so they need to figure out a better system We did have a great visit there and the NEEDHAM residence inn will be our go to site in Boston read more

I was awakened by loud drumming & booming music, and thought "Someone has a full drum set in the room below me and is practicing in their room? How can this be?" I called the front desk to find out that in the building next door at Tripadvisor headquarters, they are having an event. How ironic. How thoughtful of the folks at Tripadvisor to have a loud event right next to a hotel where guests are staying. It's not the Residence Inn's fault. Unfortunately they are situated between construction on a building that sits next to a parking lot, so every morning I hear the crash and boom of caterpillars and trucks pounding pavement. I asked to switch rooms and was told the other alternative was to hear road noise and Coca Cola trucks all night, because we are next to a Coca Cola plant. Lovely. They have provided me with a sound machine to drown out the noise and I have earplugs. They also gave me foam pillows in addition to the standard ones. Other than that, the staff at this hotel are helpful and it's clean. The rooms are nice, and they offer treats for guests during the week, such as italian grilled sausages between 6 and 7pm. I have to say, the staff have been extremely helpful during my stay here and go out of their way to help you. There is always free parking, and they have a pool and free Wifi. The hotel itself is five stars. Fairly new, has a bar, and includes breakfast with your stay. The staff is great and you can get outside food delivered. However, please be warned...if you are not an early riser you may want to find another place to stay. There is a Coke distribution facility right next door that has a huge fleet of trucks that get rolling at 5:00 AM on the dot - AND IT'S LOUD. I've stayed here many times and it's like clockwork. If you can, ask for a room ending in an odd number. This will put you on the side of the hotel that's furthest from the noise. Turning on the HVAC fan in your room may also help drown out some of the noise from the tractor trailers.
