Place had everything we need, it was comfortable, we also hanged out around in the common areas they had free coffee and tea. They had Free breakfast included, it was decent, had made your own waffles with plenty of toppings and hot options that changed during the week. Every staff member we encountered was delightful and professional. We took over the BW with family & friends as our son's wedding was at a local venue. The BW is convenient to town, McDaniel College and the local area. The hotel is a little dated although clean and well kept. My bed was comfortable and pillows supportive which can ruin a night's stay at even the fanciest of places. For two nights we loitered in the hotel lobby with a rolling cooler of beverages, food all while sharing family stories and togetherness. BW was accommodating and offered a complementary breakfast from 7-10. I'd stay again if in the area! read more

I do not recommend that you stay in this hotel ever. I had the worst experience here and the customer service was poor. There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom that was disgusting. But the biggest issue that I had was that I was put on the 2nd floor of the hotel and there was no elevator. I am older with a knee replacement and the other knee that has issues, and when I asked to have a room on the first floor they said there was not one available. I was forced to walk up at least 30 steps numerous times, which was not healthy for my knees. I contacted the Best Western and they said there is nothing that they can do about this. I told them that they needed to email people during alumni weekend or when they get the registration that there is no elevator. I do believe that this has to be a violation of ADA. I am informing you about this, as I would not recommend that older alumni stay at the Best Western in Westminster. They do have a paragraph hidden on their website that says there is no elevator but I had to hunt to find it. I have never been in a hotel that didn't have an elevator when there was more than one story. Older individuals may be placed on the 2nd floor in a hotel without an elevator and will be required to walk up many steps. I never thought this would be a problem for me, but lugging a suitcase up 30 stairs with a knee replacement does give me some limitations that I would hope that a modern hotel would accommodate. The hotel staff did NOT inform me ahead of time about the lack of an elevator either with a phone call or in the emails that I received from them confirming the reservation for the 50th McDaniel College Alumni Event. I requested twice to have a room on the first floor. But they said they could not accommodate that. I contacted Best Western and the only compensation for that awful weekend there was a discount for a future stay. I am not planning on travelling anytime soon to that accommodation does me no good. Once again, I will not be supporting any Best Westerns. There is no Best about this hotel chain. They are not even listed with the Better Business Bureau. read more

It was ok. The "queen beds" were by no means Queen size. They are tiny. The room was clean. But the breakfast was as disgusting. And I mean disgusting. We went across the street to ihop. I recommend doing that. I rarely post reviews online and have never posted a negative review as it is always my preference to seek resolution of issues directly with a business. However, in this situation, I feel impelled to post - to inform any travelers considering a stay at the Best Western Westminster. I recently booked a two-night stay at this hotel (4/12/25 - 4/14/25) as it was in close proximity to a university my son was visiting. The staff was very friendly, and check-in was quick and easy. However, on the second day of our stay, my son and I discovered carpet beetles on the walls between the beds and on the windowsills, two areas where they are commonly found. Unfortunately, carpet beetles were somehow introduced to our home a year ago and we spent the subsequent 9 months, in collaboration with a pest control company, working to eradicate them. It cost us thousands of dollars to fully rid them from our home, and the process to do so entailed the following: bi-monthly pest control treatments, disposing of mattresses, rugs, and some furniture (they infest and consume fibers from fabrics, leather, paper, etc.), and daily vacuuming of every corner of the house. It was a long, time and labor-intensive endeavor. As a result, my family is way more familiar with carpet beetles than we ever wanted to be. We know what they look like, what the skin they molt/shed looks like, items and areas they tend to inhabit, etc. We also know they travel on clothing and luggage and, therefore, can easily be transferred between different locations. So, to discover them in our hotel room, and realize we had been exposed to another potential home infestation, was upsetting. I spoke with the on-site supervisor, requested to check out before the second night, and asked for a refund for both nights since we now would need to take measures to ensure we did not return home with beetles. The supervisor agreed to refund the second night, but asserted she did not have the authority to refund the first night. Of note, the refund granted was not the amount in full for the second night, as promised. The supervisor came to our room (206) and we showed her the carpet beetles. She informed me she would text the general manager of the hotel (Morgan B.) and ask her to contact me. I called Morgan myself the following day and left a voicemail explaining the situation and requesting a return call. I subsequently completed a general survey sent by Best Western and provided information regarding my stay. Additionally, I called the corporate number provided on the email to speak with the individual listed (Larry C.). I was told I would get a return call within 2-5 business days; however, I did not hear back from corporate after five business days, nor did I receive any communication from the general manager, Morgan. I did receive another customer satisfaction survey, which I completed a second time on 4/20, providing detailed information regarding the beetles and the names and phone numbers of the individuals I had contacted, but from whom I had not heard back. The next morning (4/21), I received the following email from Morgan: "Thank you for completing the survey regarding your recent stay at our property. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for not exceeding your expectations. Your satisfaction is important to us and we will be using the feedback you gave us to implement improvements to ensure we offer a better experience for guests in the future. Once this was reported, we called our pest control company to come and inspect the room. The room was left how you checked out so that could inspect directly. They did not find any treatment needed upon inspection. We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention and have done all necessary steps for our hotel. Best Western Westminster Hotel" I am shocked by Morgan's response. Her lack of concern and written acknowledgement that the room was not treated is incredibly concerning. Considering what is known about carpet beetles, the likelihood that other rooms and common areas have carpet beetles is very high. Potential customers deserve to know they risk exposure staying at the Best Western Westminster and understand that the longer the infested areas go untreated by the hotel, the greater the risk of exposure over time. Had to cancel my booking due to a situation that arose from a recent suicide. Booking.com informed me that the cancellation was free of any charges. This hotel charged my account anyways, and has refused to refund my money despite showing them proof of the cancellation. So far I've heard excuses ranging from booking.com failed to notify the property of the cancellation. I'm sure they have an automated system, so unlikely. To "That's booking.com's policy, not ours." Booking.com has been nothing but kind, and helpful in trying to help me get my refund. The property has no interest it seems in complying however. Contacted Corporate Best Western, they keep apologizing for the frustration I must be feeling, and that third party websites are shady, and can't be trusted. Nevermind that they're allowing the third party sites to sell their services, and do so knowing that shady practices are being used according to them. This might be an okay hotel, and I had enjoyed my previous stay there, but this entire situation has soured my opinion of Best Western, and I would urge you to choose a different location. The rooms smell like mildew (we moved and our second room smells the same) and all the hotel guests have the pleasure of sharing community plungers (the manager said they have more than one plunger "in the maintenance closet" but you literally have to walk down to the hotel lobby and ask, at which point a dirty plunger is handed to you in a garbage bag, presumably straight from the bowels of another guest's toilet). Really? For all that we pay per night, Best Western can't afford a plunger for each room? The breakfast is a sad display of options with no vegan milk for the lactose intolerant (aka the majority of the population), an assortment of meats and very few fruits and vegetables. Try Airbnb. Stayed here the past three nights. Coming back soon for more work. The hallways have a funny smell, but the room itself was nice and clean. Bathroom was nice as well with granite tops. Room had a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot. Plus there is free Wi-Fi. I stayed in a room with a King Size Bed which was decent, but could be more comfortable. The sheets are a little scratchy, but I am use to a much higher thread count at home. I will like bring my own sheets next time. The breakfast was okay. They do have an omelet and waffle station. The breakfast is open from 6-9:30 am M-F. and a little later on weekends. The staff is very friendly. There is no gym here so you will either have to work out in your room, outside, or find a gym nearby. Apparently, this is the nicest hotel to stay in Westminster when I have asked around. Other places had issues with bed bugs 2 years ago. And another place apparently has a lot of illegal actions occurring there. So, while I am working around the area, this will be my headquarters. read more

I made a week long reservation at this hotel over Christmas for my family. Unfortunately, before the checkin date, my son got sick with Covid and we had to cancel the entire trip. I canceled 3 days before the arrival date and asked for a refund. I provided proof of the positive Covid test. I was told too bad, I had booked a "booking.com prepaid non refundable reservation." Only a 2 star hotel but they get a extra star for being a good place for a overnight. Clean room. Easy check in. We got a jacuzzi room which worked perfect. Very clean. Some parts need updating or fixed. Such as the side doors key swipe to get in you had to hold it against the wall and swipe your room key. Just little stuff like that but would def stay again! This hotel is fine. I usually like to stay in the Holiday Inn Express so that's what I'm comparing this to. Room was clean and didn't smell. Nice looking outdoor pool. My room was very similar to a Holiday Inn room with the same coffee pot, bed and tv. This is not a dump. I will definitely stay here again. The Main Street in the town has a few nice places and I would highly recommend taking the 1.5 mile drive. There is an Irish Pub on Liberty street that was great. Breakfast at the hotel was really good. In addition to the usual items found at a holiday inn spread there was an omelet station. The omelet guy was very friendly and made me an awesome omelette. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! This was one of the worse hotels my family and I have ever stayed in. My frist reaction was that it was okay, a bit dated. There was no elevator as well as the entire family was spread out to different wings and floors of the hotel. It made it very difficult for the elderly members of the family to see everyone that came for the wedding. The stair well smelled like cigarette smoke and mold. We had to hold our breathes to walk up the stairs to our room. As we walked down the hallway, we could clearly hear the sounds of others using their restrooms. Our room was pretty clean including the bathroom. If you used the shower the water soaked the entire floor making it very slippery and dangerous. When we called down to get more towels for the other people in the room, we were told there was no one available to bring us any. When we walked down to ask for them they responded with "oh we were just about to bring them up" which was a little aggravating. After coming back from a wonderful wedding, various members of my family got evicted for a noise complaint that was NOT from their room but from one from down the hall. The night management was extremely rude and lied to the police, forcing the out of state members to split in two. Half of them drove three hours back to their homes, not getting back till 4:00AM, and the other half were forced to uber to another hotel. read more

We stayed at this hotel because it was close to my sister's house who was watching our kids while we went to a wedding. We wanted to be close but still have a night off. The price was definitely reasonable and comparable to others we looked at so it was perfect. Since there was a gap between ceremony and reception we used that time to check in. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. We we delighted to find that our room was huge. We booked the King suite with spa tub. There was tons of furniture but also open space (I assume for the sofa bed). The bed was also very comfortable. My fiancé walked over to Safeway and the liquor store to get some snacks and drinks. After the wedding I was able to shower and relax in the spa tub. Great for soaking angry feet that have been in heels for hours. We also walked over to Katana in the shopping center for Sushi and Ramen. The breakfast was tasty and fresh. We parked along the side so it was easy in and out. We are actually planning to stay after thanksgiving dinner with the kids so we don't have to drive all the way home. My only negative is that the water pressure is not ideal. Luckily I wasn't planning to wash my hair. Definitely not a deal breaker though. read more

1 star is too high... Do not stay here especially for large family events. The night staff "men" are the most unprofessional people that our families have ever encountered in a service business. What should have been a joyous wedding celebration ended in wrongful evictions in the middle of the night escalated by these 2 dishonest, antagonistic men. The general manager who never personally spoke to me, lacks the management skills to justify and resolve this horrific incident by simply crediting us the night stay we never had. The Customer Care Corporate Office in Arizona is useless. You have to be relentless to get them involved and they respond with sympathetic generic emails and pretend to act as mediators but do nothing because as they say "their hands are tied". I'll spare the long details, but the hotel overcharged me 4x for guest rooms that did not belong to me. The hotel admitted the error but would not reverse the charges until they recouped the charges from the proper guests, which they have not been able to do. I'm currently working with my credit card to dispute the charges and have the funds returned. The room was fine for my purposes, but do yourself and a favor and choose the days inn or boston inn down the road instead. I booked a weekend online. When I got to the hotel, I was told they wouldn't rent out to me since I'm under 21. Considering they asked my age online & for my card info...online... You would think they would let me know that beforehand. Anyway, I asked to speak with a manager since I was confused. I booked a king size for the whole weekend!! She spoke to me as if I were a child, and kept giving me the runaround as if she didn't even know her own hotels website. I called the international hotline & they tried to get it straightened out for me. Was told my reservation would be kept, and my guest could put it in his name (he was of age). I told them "ok, we'll be back later." We show up a few hours later. The night guy refused to check us in in my guests name. He wouldn't tell us anything, other than: "I can't rent out to you, I can't rent out to you.."... Overall, very rude staff. I've never felt so humiliated in my life. When I tried to explain my confusion to the dayshift manager, she said "I can't believe you would just put your age online like that." Again, clearly not familiar with her own hotels website & also trying to insult me. She came across as a very cold person who didn't give a damn about anything other than getting her money. I was told my card would still be charged, too. If the manager wasn't so rude about the whole situation, I would have reconsidered coming back after I was of age. However, that will NOT be happening. My wife (and dog) just stayed here for 3 days and can't say anything negative about our experience. The staff was super friendly and even made our dog feel welcome. The hotel is currently rbeing emodeling but it was hardly an inconvenience. Breakfast was temporarily moved to the conference center across the parking lot but not a big deal. The hostess and omlet chefs were very nice young men from the local college and did a fine job. Rooms were clean and are what you would expect at a BW but they are all scheduled for facelifts after the lobby is done. We will be staying again in the coming weeks and look forward to the experience. read more

Was planing a trip to Myrtle Beach and wanted to bring our dog with us. Found this hotel about half way through and it accepted pest so we thought perfect. We didn't get there until about 11 at night as we were driving. We were told when we booked that they did not have king beds but could book us in a queen room. When we arrived my husband and I were told pet friendly rooms only come with 2 double beds. Not thrilled but too exhausted to argue we took the room. When we got to the room it was very dingy looking. After settling in we decided to watch some tv. About 30 minutes in I as well as our dog started to itch. I being a nurse freaked out thinking it was bed bugs but saw no indication of it on the mattress or in the beds. Needless to say we slept about an hour total and got back on the road very early. Both my dog and I continued to itch throughout the vacation but i had no rash or bites so cracked it up to being a hypochondriac. We got home and my itching slowed but the dog continued. Today I decided she needed to see the vet and as i was on the phone while petting her a flea jumped off. I have had this dog 7 years and she has never once had a flea, and has been on one of the strongest flea and tick medications since she was a puppy. I am disgusted by this hotel and infuriated that now I need to deal with the cost of treating the dog as well as fumigating my home. You could not pay me money to go back to this fleabag motel. read more

Considering the price of this hotel, we couldn't have been happier. Driving through the beautiful state of Maryland was a surprising treat and checking in to the hotel was quick and easy. Matt was incredibly nice and the grounds are beautiful. The room and bathroom were clean and nice. There were no strange smells or dinginess as some other reviewers have noted. I have awesome memories of studying for finals at your hotel. I actually live 2 minutes from the Best Western but my house is so loud that I could never focus on studying. Everyone there is very friendly and inviting. Granted it isn't the best hotel in the world but I appreciate the good service. My most memorable moment was watching the local Carroll County Government channel that I don't get at home. Our room was beautiful and clean. Staff very helpful and friendly. Over the years we have stayed here many times and have slowly seen it slide down hill. This visit was a complete turn around. I stayed there for 2 weeks on business. The fireplace in the lobby is a nice touch but the room I was in(101) was beside an ice machine and the stairwell, so it was quite noisy. So stay clear of that room. They Don't have a fitness room so I had to travel a little to go workout. They do have coin operated laundry there so that was convenient. read more

A request to check out 1 hour later because I was attending a function that started at noon was so rudely rebuffed that I just turned around and walked away without another word. This hotel ranks in the top 2 worst hotels I have ever stayed in and coming from a weekly business traveler that says a lot. I usually stay in Hilton properties such as Hilton Garden Inn, Doubletree or Hampton Inn but the closest to my appointment was 25 miles. I wasn't sure if I was at the correct location when I pulled into the parking lot as it was virtually empty and the building looked old and dilapidated. The lobby wasn't terrible but once I started heading to my room which was on the second floor I realized that this hotel is straight out of the 60's-70's and did not even have an elevator. After lugging my bags up the stairs I was completely grossed out walking down the hallway by the disinfectant smell. The room was clean but the carpet in both the hall ways and room was stained and I didn't feel comfortable walking in bare feet. The bed was horrendous! Not only did it feel like I was sleeping on a plank but the mattress was visibly old and uneven with a heavy slope to the left. Will drive 25 miles the next time I have to visit this area to ensure a decent night's sleep. Note: being a female traveling alone I did not feel safe at all in this hotel. They don't have the bars to lock the door but have the old fashioned chain that stretches across the door. read more
