You would think that I would learn my lesson when staying at a Super 8, but here I am again. This one was not as bad as a stay in another area, but it wasn't anything to seriously congratulate. I booked ahead of time online before showing up. Real quick stay in the area to see a few things I hadn't seen before. When I showed up I was checked in fairly quickly. However, the room I was given just felt like an afterthought from my booking. I once again was given the accessible room. Most times I wouldn't care about this. But this accessible room was not all that great. I got into the room and honestly before I even got to the room, was not impressed. This room sits right next to the entry/lobby. That meant that you heard every little thing that happened. Including, but not limited to, people coming and going, breakfast in the morning, people coming and going from the pool area, and the loud chatter and laughter of the hotel staff. I thought that even with all that, I would be able to rough it out, but the room held some surprises for me. I started to get set up and attempted to to use the outlets. No matter which outlet I tried, they did not work. I needed to be able to use the outlets as I would be working a bit while here as well. Before I got any further with setting up my room I did the short walk from my room to the lobby desk to ask if I could change rooms. When I went to change rooms the staff were a little skeptical to do the room change. I informed them that I would be doing work while staying and needed outlets that work. Their concern was that the only rooms available were on the second floor. They must of thought because I was in the accessible room that I wouldn't be able to do the second floor. Why so much concern you ask. Because this is one of the few hotels I have stayed at that does not have an elevator. I assured them I am fine with that, me being in the accessible room was your doing by assigning me the room, I did not request that during booking. Once I get the room changed, I climb the stairs and set up my room. I come and go while staying here. Instead of having to go through the lobby all the time, I use the exit closest to my room. Convenient and since there is no elevator it really doesn't matter. When outside you can tell by looking at this place that it was at one point part of a larger hotel complex. Or maybe I'm wrong with that, but by looking at the surrounding buildings and hotels they all look similar. A cluster of buildings that are all hotels on a dead end street. The second room wasn't horrible, but it wasn't lavish either. Plus sides here, fridge and microwave in the room, ample space to work from the room, although there was no desk. I had to use what is basically a dining table to do my work. Bathroom was sufficient enough to use. Nothing over the top. read more

I would like to start by saying. For a Super 8, it wasn't bad at all. I was in town for business and was greeted by Shell! She was awesome. We had great conversation and she made me feel good to be staying there. I was in room 111, a handicap room, which is bigger so I didn't mind but I couldn't help but wonder if anyone else may ACTUALLY need the handicap room. My ONLY complaint is the fact that I couldn't keep my curtains open because everyone takes their smoke breaks directly in front of the window. You can hear their conversations, some more colorful than others, but none of my business to share nonetheless. Would definitely consider coming back! Even went walking around to take pictures of some attractions. read more

Motel was clean,desk clerk was more interested in the movie on the lobby to than checking me in,someone that rude to customers shouldn't be a desk clerk. The room across from mine had a dog that barked from 530 last night until 4am this morning despite my complaints yesterday. The clerk told me that this has been a problem and that others complained. I paid more than several other motels since they offered breakfast. But leaving at 5am since I didn't get any sleep I didn't even get that.i understand that they are dog friendly and a occasional noise that makes a dog bark is understandable but 12 hours of a dog barking is NOT Acceptable at all. read more

This is an okay hotel. It is run-down and tired. It is in desperate need of updating. We chose it because we have Wyndham rewards and we're able to use points to get a reduced rate. Front desk employees were friendly and helpful at check-in. We had our dog with us and the pet fee is less than most hotels at $15 per night. When we went to our car to get our luggage, there was a group of people smoking outside the front door. On our next trip to the car (since there was only one luggage cart for the whole hotel), the smoking group moved to a car in the parking lot and we're all sitting in it. After going back inside with the dog, we came back to the car after about 45 minutes. There was a group of hotel employees standing near our car, again, smoking. It was the front desk clerks, a guy with a Super 8 shirt and two others. Everything else was fine. The hotel wasn't full and was relatively quiet. The next morning at checkout, we had been charged double for our dog because we checked in online. (?). Apparently, they had trouble with the online check in system. (Why not just disable it until you can get it to work right?) The front desk person couldn't give us an updated statement showing the refund. She said we had to check our bank statement in the next few days to see the refund. I already have it in my calendar to check it on Wednesday this week. This causes your patrons to have to worry about one more thing in their already busy lives. Fix the system. This happened at another hotel we stayed at where they charged us double and said the refund would show on our credit card. We had to have the credit card company go after them for the cost. Advice: Don't do the online check-in and check your receipts! read more

Stayed here recently on a visit to Gettysburg. It's just outside of the historic district but close to everything you'll want to visit. The hotel seems relatively new and is very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice sized and very clean. The beds are very comfortable. Only complaint is the coverlets on the end of the bed needed washed. Why bother if they can't be kept clean. Breakfast room was spotless with the regular options but always kept up. I would recommend asking for the woodsview so you aren't looking out at the parking lot. Plenty of restaurants in the area as well. Easy drive to York and Lancaster when finished at Gettysburg. Worth the stay. for a low price and low cat fee of $15, we had a clean, good size room on the first floor with good A/C. very friendly staff. vending machines, ice machine. I'd say the only thing which still doesn't deter me from staying here again, is that it seems older with the sink outside the bathroom just inside the room door, basic necessities. needs a little TLC in the bathroom such as caulking but none of this is a deal breaker for the cost and the positive points. also in a little area with other hotels so feels safe. I'm torn about this because staff were nice and allowed me to have my dog with me whereas Quality Inn was a mess about this (see review). But the physical plant is old, worn, and just dinky. The sheets were frayed and pilled in places. The sink faucet dripped. The totality of soap and shampoo supplied was a single tiny tube of something akin to dish soap. The building is quite close to the main road so road noise is meaningful throughout the night. read more

We stayed here for our annual civil war reenactors meeting in town, I reserved the room on Travelocity. Front desk was very nice. Our room was very nice and updated. We really enjoyed the breakfast area I think I gained an extra 10 pounds due to eating the mini waffles. read more

I wanted to go in the indoor pool but didn't have time since I only stayed overnight & it was closed when I got there. It's not easy to see off the road. However the staff was very nice, they have their own breakfast area available in the mornings with a fair selection of breakfast food and they do have Gideon Bibles in the rooms (which would please my mother but upset the woke liberal contingent). Fair warning: you will encounter a Southernesque vibe in this area and this hotel was no exception. They even have a nice lobby with seating if you're meeting someone or waiting for a room. Definitely a solid hotel and one I'd remember if my family wanted to vacation in Gettysburg. read more

Extremely disappointed by my family's stay here this past week. We booked this particular hotel because it was not as expensive as some of the other local hotels, had a pool, free breakfast, and we were only staying one night. We checked in to a room on the second floor around 4:15 pm on Thursday. By 5pm, after being in the room for just a short while I started to show signs of having an allergic reaction. (I'm extremely allergic to cats). Sure enough, upon inspecting the floor and bedding, it was COVERED in long, white cat hair. By this point my left eye is bright red, covered in huge hives, and starting to swell badly. I quickly scrub my hands and face to get any hair or dander that's causing the reaction off. I grab a "clean" towel from my bathroom and dry my face, only to discover it too was covered in cat hair. I'm in pretty bad shape at this point. My throat is extremely itchy and I'm starting to lose my voice. My eye is almost swollen closed and my face is starting to swell from the cat hair towel. (Even though I washed my face and hands again, the damage was done.) I then called the front desk while I can still talk and tell them the situation. They tell me to come downstairs and they will give us a new room. No apologies, not even a fake upset voice that a room was so badly covered in cat hair that it caused a pretty nasty allergic reaction in a guest. I could barely see or speak so my friend who booked hers and my room ran downstairs to get the new room key. Thankfully, the new room was just across the hall. My friend inspected it for hair and thankfully found none. The room had an extremely intense musty smell so she had to open the window and turn the ac on to help cycle the stale, wet smell out. The room was also covered in a thick layer of dust, missing items (like tissues, trash liners, plastic liner for the ice bucket,etc), the bathroom toilet needed a good cleaning as did the fridge, and the ice bucket was just gross looking. Covered in dust, grime, and numerous stains and scuff marks. But it wasn't covered in cat hair so it would have to do. Nothing during this stay made me want to give this place a second shot. I will definitely be advising my loved ones to find other accommodations. The staff never apologized, never came to the room to make sure everything was alright, and in general seemed to not care at all. Final note, these weren't the only issues. My friends room contained a toilet that had not been cleaned and a dirty rag waiting for her when she opened the door (it was laying right in the center of her room.) When she asked if housekeeping could come up and wipe down the toilet she was told they were not there that night and she would have to do it herself. To finish up, it was very disappointing and was an utter waste of money. Over $75 to have a nasty allergic reaction (that I'm still hoarse from) from a cat hair covered first room, and the second room's only highlight is that wouldn't kill me to sleep there. read more

My wife and I travel to the area often and we always stay at this hotel. It has become sort of a second home to us. Even just now, I was looking at pictures of the rooms and it brought over me a feeling of comfort and a flooding of great memories that brought a smile onto my face and a feeling of comfort washed over me. Traveling in general is such a freeing and joyous activity, that it makes me feel alive and happy just thinking about it. But the one downside is that many hotel and motels take away from the happiness that goes along with travel. Some are dirty, or loud, expensive or not conveniently located. This hotel, only adds to your Traveling experience. The staff is very pleasant and super helpful. The hotel is conveniently located, it's just a short drive to Walmart, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Giant supermarket and other stores and restaurants. It is also very close to the battlefield and other popular sites. They have a killer setup for continental breakfast, I recommend the mini Belgian waffles. And if you're not feeling like eating breakfast at the hotel, Perkins is right next door and they offer a discount of you show them your room key card. In addition to all of this, the beds are comfortable and make you want to sleep the entire stay until you remember that you're in an amazing town. The shower is wonderful. And the prices are very reasonable. I recommend a stay here to anyone planning a vacation to historic Gettysburg. read more

This is a great value, for the price--only 75 bucks for the night and it covered both dogs(big ones!). The green space outside is ample, and baggies for waste, provided. Comfortable beds, nice staff, ok breakfast. Cons? Hallway smelled like smoke. Some room lights did not work. Dirt, dust, crumbs, wrinkles, and stains-- they need a new cleaning staff. I'd prefer to spend more on a super clean room-- that said, the price was right for what we got and I'm always thankful for folks who accept dog guests. read more

We decided to stay at this hotel because of all the good reviews. Well, yelp proofed us wrong the first time. We have absolutely no high standard in hotels but cleanliness is a must. The first room which was given to us was just disgusting. The small of old sweat was all over. The beds looked like someone just left the room... Front desk staff assigned us to another room without any questions. Thanks for that. 2nd room looked clean on first sight. Big urgh was the bathroom. Old dried piss on the toilette and hairs in the shower. The rest of the room was ok. Maybe we just had bad luck, but this super 8 stay was pretty disappointing. read more

Literally the worst hotel. I went here with the intention to stay in a Nice-ish room but that quickly changed when I walked in to a non matching sty of a room. The emeritus where shame full as the carpet surely didn't even match the drapes if you can call them drapes they only go about half way across the window then stop not even on a second track. Was sitting in the window to get like air and then an annoying employee came out and made me get out of it. The following day when I was gone they put extra locks on the window so I couldn't even open the window enuf to get mu head out. This infuriates me the most, i mean like what an annoyance. There is also a lack of insufficiently placed plugs around the room literally there is like 4 at most and there is none in the bathroom which could be very useful. The place needs to be reworked from he ground up but it has some potential. Ps the air conditioner is very old yet another reason I needed the window open as far as I did. read more

This hotel was definitely decent and a good location near the Gettysburg sites. Pros: -Pool had good long hours, was a decent size, and had a hot tub. It was also great that we went in the morning without annoying kids around, but that's just good luck -Breakfast was pretty well rounded. It had toast, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, waffle maker, fruit, cinnamon rolls. Definitely some good stuff to fill up on before a big day. -Room was clean and spacious. Cons: -The room clearly used to have a hot tub in it as evidenced by the existing knob in the bathroom, which is fine it was taken out, but the layout of the room was kind of awkward. The bed was to one side of the room and the TV in the middle. Since it was a longer room than usual (probably to accomidate the previous jacuzzi) but the bed was at an awkward angle to even see the TV. There was a chair on the other side of the room, but since I (and I assume most people) sit on the bed, it would have been great if the bed was in front of the TV and not off to the side -I've been to hotels that have a few outlets right on the night stand, and this one didn't. The room really lacked available outlets -I've also noticed a few hotels lately ONLY change sheets if you leave a sign on the bed. You aren't doing it for the environment. You are cheaping out and I'm paying too much for that. Overall a decent experience and a good price. It is near the sites but also near some shopping if you need to pick anything up. I've definitely stayed in more mediocre places, but for a place to rest after a day of walking, this worked just fine. read more

We travel a lot and to be honest, we generally avoid Super 8's. The price was great on this one and the reviews were pretty good so we gave it a shot. We're happy to say that our experience at this Super 8 was very good. The staff was friendly and he rooms were clean and comfortable. The location is also nice as it is away from all the hustle and bustle of Gettysburg itself. It was nice to be able to enjoy Gettysburg, then retreat to a quiet, comfortable hotel. The room has a nice design and is visibly clean, but none of the amenities are currently offered, the cable is spotty, and the internet is unusable. Fridge/freezer is not cold even though it is 100% turned up. A genuine disappointment given how nice the place looks in their pictures. read more

The price was right...and they were fine with us arriving at 10 PM on a holiday weekend, but the bathtub was dirty (someone else's hair on the wall and crud on the floor of the tub around the bathmat), the room smelled slightly odd, not many plugs, and the safes had just been installed and were not working. The breakfast consisted of orange/apple juice out of a fountain drink machine, a waffle press, oatmeal, some cereal, and the ability to make toast. The hotel is well located just outside of town and has plenty of parking. Its nearby a Dairy Queen which was a nice place to visit after a day of touring. Just don't go expecting anything other than an ok place to put your stuff at the end of the night. read more

I am going to echo Patrick and say that this isn't the nicest hotel in the world and the Ritz is it's twin sister, but this is an amazingly affordable hotel in Gettysburg with easy access to downtown, 15, stores, shops and the battlefield. What really made this place awesome was Dimitri, the night desk clerk. With his kindness and helpfulness our unexpected week long stay with him was made comfortable and almost homey. That's a lot to say, especially when we were in town for my mother in law's funeral. Admittedly, we weren't the easiest group to deal with - about 10 rooms in all, various age groups, many drinkers and some special requests (extra things, adjoining rooms, etc) but Dimitri did everything with a smile, as did the lady during the day time. The hotel's indoor pool and spa were really nice amenities, the beds were comfortable, and while the maid service was a little slow, they were nice and did a good job in making up our rooms each day. My review on this hotel comes by way of a one night stay. I had the opportunity to view alot of the other suites on the first floor as my team members and myself had pretty much the whole floor booked. The place was very clean, staff very friendly. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The beds were engulfingly soft and comfortable. I never really liked just a shower and toilet in the bathroom area, and having to walk out to find the mirror and sink area near the door of the rooms. But got over it pretty quickly. I made use of the heated pool and the hot tub was heavenly. Also well kept. Amidst all the other hotels posted within walking distance of each other, the Super 8 was priced just right...and worth a nice relaxing stay. read more

Looked for a affordable weekend in Gettysburg. Booked the super 8 on Expedia.com and got a good deal. Judging by the photos, I figured it was a nice place. And it is... However, starting at check in I was a little disturbed. Normally when I check into a hotel I ask the front desk agent where the best place to grab a drink and eat is. The lady at the desk decided to instead tell a story of a miscarriage the last time she drank and wasn't helpful with any recommendations. Personally, I think it's her job to be well versed in the town she works in. Checking into the room, everything appeared clean and had white bedding which is nice. However the hinges of the toilet seal had fecal matter and dried urine caked on it. You can tell the attention to detail lacked severely. The free breakfast was good but crowed. Make your own waffles but wait in a line because it takes 2.5 minutes each. You usually get a ignorant mom that's hogging both irons. The yogurt left out was expired. There is a nice indoor pool that also has a hot tub attached. I didn't use the pool but walked in to take a look. The remote in the room as gunk between the buttons and the burrow has white splatter marks. But for $110 for 2 nights, you can't complain too much. Thank god for antibacterial wipes. I might return. It's a decent place for an affordable weekend. read more

This is okay, not great for a budget motel that takes dogs. What I didn't like was: * the hall carpets are filthy. * there are tons of cigarette butts and rubbish strewn around the grounds and parking lot. * the 800 number folks will give you one price, but then the hotel will charge you another and act like it is your problem. For example, I was told on the phone that there was a $10 charge per night per dog. It ended up being $12 per night per dog, and the hotel does NOT honor the price given by the 800 number folks. This is a poor business practice. * The in-room safe is an additional charge. What I did like: * They accept dogs. * It seemed safe. * It is off the main drag, and my room was quiet except for other guests letting their kids run up and down the halls. read more

We booked the super 8 last minute as we were staying in Gettysburg for a day on our way to DC. It was a good place for the money. We were put in a handicapped room, which means we had a big bathroom and I assume the tub was larger than most! The room was decorated nicely and included a micro fridge, which for some reason doesn't seem to be a common amenity among hotels these days (even places much more expensive than this one) The bed was big and comfy, there was a flat screen tv, and all the things you would expect from a motel were provided. The breakfast was pretty basic, and since we were in a handicapped room, we were right next to the front counter/breakfast area so we heard all the guests and their kids, but it wasn't disruptive. Also, there's a small inside pool, which I'm sure is a plus for anyone with kids! read more

For a cheap (I paid $64 a night for 3 nights for work). It's what you'd expect from a cheap hotel, just a little better. Don't expect the Four Seasons, but if you expect an average Super 8, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Remnants of smells suggest this used to be a smoking hotel. Beds are okay, pillows are limp, but aren't all 2 star hotel pillows? Shower is solid, fridge and microwave. Quieter than I would have expected. Lots of dogs but I never heard barking. You can sleep time the TV and a sizeable amount of channels for an establishment like this. Breakfast is assorted breads and cereals. Grab your USA Today before they run out! read more

The absolute worst hotel ever to stay at. Over priced for crappy rooms and crappy customer service! Reserved a room for four adults and one child. Was never told I had to purchase a cot for the child and when I asked for more blankets they were sent up unfolded as if they were just pulled out of the dirty laundry. There were no blankets or comforters on our beds only sheets and when we decided we weren't gonna stay we asked for a refund and it was the biggest ordeal ever. Only one girl on duty who was new and was unwilling to make it right. There should never only be one person working especially a new girl who can't handle customer problems. read more

I'd give it a 3.5 if I could. Just out of main town of Gettysburg, very easy one road to get there within 3 minutes. Pool was warm and nice. Breakfast was lacking, but I didn't expect much. Rooms were big enough, beds were comfortable.I always wish there to be a laundry room, but oh well. The staff was friendly. The continental breakfast was decent. It felt VERY COMFORTABLE. the only drawback is the bathrooms are a little small and the sink is across opposite the short hallway - not part of the the bathroom.
