It was just time for my regularly scheduled oil change and alignment. I I was told along with the oil change and alignment that I needed a new air filter. I was told they had the parts, but I sat waiting for the part's for two hours. They didn't bother saying that's why my car wasn't ready. It wasn't until I stood up saying I'll come back for the filter that the part guy showed up. I took my truck home and the very next day I notice when I started my truck, it was sputtering. I didn't think anything of it until I noticed it was becoming more and more persistent everyday. Then I noticed when I got on the beltway my truck was struggling to accelerate and vibrating. I'm thinking what is going on. I called the owner back and told him what eas going on. He said bring it back. I told him i just started a new and will call when I can take a day off. Over the next several weeks I started to realize it was the oil. They put the wrong grade of motor oil in my truck that's why my truck was sputtering at start up and while idle. I called the owner and told him that i think they put the wrong grade of motor oil in my truck and explained why. He immediately got defensive. Saying they put the right grade in according to the instructions. I told him but my truck was fine and this was not a problem. He said to bring my truck in but if that's not the problem then I'll have to pay extra. How much you want to bet even if that was the problem they wouldn't admit it. And would probably charge me for unnecessary work to cover up the mistake. I said my truck is worse off than it was when I brought it in. It's the oil, mistakes happen. We argued because he didn't want to admit that it was the likely problem. I took my truck elsewhere and had them change the oil to full synthetic, which is what the maintenance schedule says is the required grade. Well, you guessed it, after the new changed oil , my truck is purring like a kitten. NO SPUTTERING!!! NO VIBRATIONS!! Pars put the wrong oil in my truck that could have caused serious damaged to my engine, if they didn't already. I'll have to wait and see. So, lesson learned, i dont care how many years a business tout family business or experience, they are hiring non skilled workers working on your vehicle. I went to Reliable for 6 years - and was always happy until my past couple of visits. They kept my…read morecar for FOUR HOURS for an oil change and did not tell me that a tech had been injured, causing the delay. when I called at hour 2. If you would've told me that someone was hurt, I would've taken it back the next day. But that option was not provided and then I was made to feel bad about it when I complained that the appointment took so long. They also misdiagnosed a problem with vibration in my vehicle. I ended up replacing the front struts, which probably would've needed it down the road, but it was not urgent or the cause of my problem. They also quoted over $500 more than any local shops for the struts. They were even more expensive than mitis! And they wanted a down payment as a deposit for the work. I've never seen this before. Not just here but anywhere! The kicker is that it was not the struts at all, instead there was a driveshaft problem that they should've seen because I asked them to look at the alignment, steering, and rear differential. They also missed the fact that a rear strut was leaking during that same check (which should've been obvious if they were actually checking the rear differential fluid). When I called to ask why the service was so inconsistent with the actual issue, and to see if they would issue me a refund based on the extra work I had done because of them, I was hung up on. I'm not sure what's going on with the manager but she used to be a very nice person. Not lately. Don't get me wrong, are used to rave about this place. I even took down a five star review in which I joked that I hope they did not get too popular because I liked getting good appointment times. I wish this place was good. They were good for a long time. Not anymore. Watch yourself. Who asks for a deposit especially from a long term customer - over six years I've been going there and always trusted their suggestions and prices. Maybe COVID has affected the way they do business.
