But you know how that goes. Finding a new mechanic is akin to looking for contractors. It's hard to find a reliable, trustworthy, do what you say you're gonna do type of shop. So, on a friend's reference, I gave Autobahn a shot. First off, have you met Frank? He's at the helm when you walk in and is once of the friendliest people you'll meet. I'm pretty sure he is the man I dealt with over the phone to make an appointment. What's even more impressive is he called to confirm the appointment. Aside from the big box dealer mechanics, who does that? Pretty cool. I bring my car in and we talk about my issue. Now mind you, it's a small shop so don't expect to sip on coffee and watch Day of Our Lives while you're waiting for your car. You'll have to drop it off and come back. There's literally no room to 'lounge'. Frank tells me they'll call me by the end of day. Within hours I receive a call detailing information about a recall, how I should proceed, similar cases they've had in the past with my Mercedes GLK-350, and so on. Now mind you, I already knew what the issues were. My old mechanic had told me and I was planning a date/time to drop it off for repairs. But I didn't know all of these other details, which gave me OPTIONS! We all love options. At that point, they had me. Just knowing they were trying to SAVE me money versus finding ways to have me spend more was clutch! My car was ready for pick-up the following morning. When I came to pick it up Frank gave me more information and I was on my way. I've gotta say, it also made me feel better that they have a secure lot behind the shop to keep cars overnight. I like that. So, for now, I think I've found my new mechanic. I'm glad as I was tired of making that hour-long trek to my old shop. Not that I can't go back, but like I said.......... it's nice to have options.

During that time he was without transportation. They finally contacted him to say it was repaired but it started doing the same thing it did before he left it with them. He took it back and they still took 2 weeks. I rode by many times & it was on the lot parked. He was overcharged based on other shops estimates and he had to pay more each time he picked it up. I've heard them advertised on WRBS and believed they were trustworthy. Very disappointed.

When I asked if someone could take a look at my truck, I was told, "No, I'm not going to lay on wet pavement." I understood that the ground was wet, but the way it was said came across as rude and dismissive. When I politely asked him to repeat the estimate, he responded, "I just told you an around-about estimate," in a condescending tone. I explained that I was simply trying to do business and didn't appreciate the way I was being spoken to. His response was to tell me that I could leave. I left feeling disrespected and unwelcome. I can't say why I was treated that way, but the interaction left me questioning whether bias may have played a role. Regardless of the reason, no customer should be treated with that level of disrespect. I took my business elsewhere and would not recommend this shop based on my experience.
