Great, local, small Associated Grocers grocery store, perfect for making quick in and out trips for your daily needs. There's a few spots in the lot in the front and side, and a lot to the left of the store. There's also bicycle parking. There's usually an officer out front in the evening both for safety and to ensure none of the patrons of the establishments nearby are parking in their lot. The store could use a good scrubbing now and then, but it's usually a most pleasant experience. They also hire some great high school and college kids. They can be a little pricey, but you're paying for convenience and local in addition to the the goods. read more

I'm a regular at this store and have been for 20 years. I've never had any issues with anyone or anything . With that being said , today will be the last day they will have my business. Bet-R reminds me of a time when grocery shopping didn't involve mega-stores that also sold children's toys and automotive parts. This is the grocery store that your mother used to take you to, and that's a very good thing. Bet-R has a delightful "local" focus, which means every aisle has Louisiana specialties. The fruit and veggies are fresh, the store isn't dominated by freezers full of prepackaged meals, and the fresh meats are surprisingly good. The service at Bet-R is also "bet-r" than most. Bet-R has the best and most affordable breakfast selection. I love their biscuit sandwiches. The sausage, egg, and cheese is always delicious. The spicy chicken biscuit is yummy as well. I'm honest with my reviews. I'm glad that others have had good experiences. I have been assisted quite a few times from the guys in the freezer/ meat section. Otherwise, forget it. I have received nasty looks and zero greetings. I was very offended the one day I brought my youngest daughter. They regarded us as if we'd steal a loaf of bread, or like we told them to get off break to ring us up. Yesterday confirmed it. I got a few groceries, came to the register. No greeting from the young lady. I realized I forgot an item. I went back in. Once more, went to the register. No greeting. As soon as I am handed my receipt, the young lady (maybe between 18-22) said very cheerfully and politely to the lady behind me "hello, how are you?" I realize I have not been overthinking anything. I am a black woman, and all the cashiers from what I have seen are black. Yesterday, the lady next in line behind me was white. These cashiers need to learn manners, and learn to not treat their own race as if we don't deserve decent customer service. I'm only one person, so my dollars may not be missed. But you have definitely lost a customer in me. read more

There are a few things that make Bet-R stand out. They have a great butcher and always have beautiful fresh cuts of all kinds of meat. The wine selection is the biggest in town. They make a point of stocking numerous local items and if they don't have it they have specifically got it for me on multiple occasions. The last thing is everyone in the store from the cashiers, stock boys, butcher to the owner are all the most helpful and nicest people you will find. Great grocery store. What makes it stand apart is the butcher. They don't have prime tenderloin or berkshire pork chops, but they have the lower cuts, the offal, things you can take and make some incredible creations out of. Fresh cut stew meat, every part of the chicken (read: feet), tripe, smoked ham hocks, neck bones. You get it. This has been my go-to grocery story of choice ever since I moved to the area after graduating college. It's a smaller neighborhood grocery store with a friendly down home feel about it. The selection may not be as varied as some of the larger chains but you'll have no problem finding everything you need here displayed in a logical easy to find manner and if you can't, there's always a manger or another friendly face on every aisle eager to answer any questions you may have; that's something you don't alway get at the larger places. Being greeted and recognized by the managers and employees makes this place feel like home and my shopping experience a pleasant one. The customer service is phenomenal. Their beer and wine selection has also greatly expanded over the last few years. I'm always picking up a new bottle of something that I've never tried before. There's also a deli which serves lunches and breakfast daily at a very reasonal price. If you don't live in the area, you may not come here but you're really missing out. I can't imagine going anywhere else for my daily needs. read more

Everyone that works there is incredibly friendly. I don't shop for all my groceries there, as they don't always have everything I need and it's a little more expensive than other places. They have a great selection of wine and beer these days. They had a great sale on sodas not too long ago. 3 12 packs for 8.88! That was a steal. Do that again please!! The neighborhood Blue Ribbon grocery is a great local gem. Bet-R is highlighted by a great wine selection, outstanding meat, fresh fruit, hot plate lunches, and friendly staff. I love this little grocery store! I wouldn't go here to do all of my groceries, but it's perfect for when you need just a few things or a missing an ingredient or two. There are a lot of local products sold here (Fresina's pasta is amazing!), and the beer and wine selection is excellent- there were more varieties of pumpkin beer here than at Whole Foods in October! I'd give the staff and management of/at this store 10 Stars, if I could. I wear leg braces and shopping for groceries wears me out... Seeing me struggle, the management offered to deliver my groceries to my home free of charge. I opted instead to fax them my grocery list then go to the store to pick them up. Bet-R is my go-to neighborhood grocery store. Cliff and staff ALWAYS provide friendly service. They go above and beyond to make you feel like this is YOUR store and are always willing to order something you want. Now, some of the offerings are a bit limited, but this is a relatively small store. They have come a long way with their expansion. They have an extensive wine and beer selection which is GOOD! The only thing they need to elevate them to that next level would be a butcher to offer fresh cuts of beef, chicken and fish. Other than that, this place is great! read more

For a neighborhood grocery, it does not get any better. The staff is friendly, the store is clean and they go the extra mile to help find anything I am looking for. The produce is always super fresh! And I have priced the difference in shopping here and other stores- and the difference is pennies.
