The Fresh Market is what Whole Foods SHOULD be! I did a stop here back in early October. I'm glad I did as this place brought back some nostalgia to me as there used to be a Fresh Market in Loudoun County, VA where I used to live before closing to make way for a Trader Joe's. Walking around, I was pleased to see the ready-to-make gourmet meals that included delicious goods such as a bourbon peppercorn steak, peruvian inspired shrimp chaufa, and korean beef stir-fry. Lovely seeing different meals from different cuisines. And of course the deli area where you can get sandwiches, ready-made sides, and pizza. And the ready-made salads and wraps as well. And then there's a candy section and coffee area with fresh coffee beans; oh I should've grabbed something from there! I left with several items that included a 6 piece order of wings, side of dirty rice, veggie gyoza dumplings, and a curry chicken salad. All of which made for a great meal since I could pick numerous items that wouldn't break the bank. I wanted to try the calzones but I knew it would be too heavy for me. Definitely next time! My happy place haha! Every time I am in need of a meal, that isn't fast food, I always end up at Fresh Market! Especially, the $20-$25 meal kit section. Every week, Fresh Market has this deal that feeds up to 4 people for $20-$25. This week, I got fried sandwiches, buns, a pound of pasta salad, green beans AND a dessert all for $25. It even came with directions on how to cook the meal. I mean this is a steal! It took me a while to find this section in Fresh Market, but it is right by the deli and meats. This store is so easy to navigate and always post the sale clearly so you can see it on items throughout the store. Very clean and staff is always willing to help. I never spend too much time in here because it is easy to go in and out pretty fast. It is also in a great part of town in my opinion. Love the wine selection and of course the candy section. One of my favorite grocery stores! I love the Tuesday deals on ground chuck and chicken breast (2.99/lb). Customer service is on point! I come here for specialty items that I can't find at my regular local grocery store. I also love their fresh ground peanut butter. Another fun option is the "Little Big Meals" for $20. Home of probably the best store-bought biscuits and croissants made at their bakery. OMG! When I first had their biscuits, I was hooked. I didn't even need to warm them up and just had them straight out of the box and they were so good. Have you ever had food where you craved it again and again right after you ate it? Well, this was how I felt about those darn biscuits. I've always been a big fan of their croissants, but those biscuits... next level! During the COVID-19 epidemic, I've enjoyed going to Fresh Market because it's not busy, no lines to go in and the prices for the little that I buy are still affordable. They always have fresh organic kale, fresh juices, yummy bakery goods, ready-to-eat meals and so much more. One of my favorite prepared foods to buy there is the buffalo chicken wrap. So, this pandemic has brought upon many food aversions - red meat is one of them and chicken is slowly gaining momentum. That buffalo chicken sandwich is about all I can eat, when it comes to anything that comes from a land-based animal. Customer service has been great. Everyone has been wearing masks and they don't even allow you in the store unless you have a mask. If you don't have a mask, they have a supply of disposable ones at the front. Truly one of the best markets in Baton Rouge! My wife and I try our best to divide and conquer different errands, but when it comes to a trip to TFM, we always go together because of how much we enjoy going. Now unless your grocery budget is much higher than mine, I wouldn't do your everyday shopping here. But you can find some great deals here for high-quality food. The ambiance is absolutely wonderful! You'll usually hear some light classical music playing, smell the aroma of nice flowers, and everything in the store is extremely clean and organized. My favorite features of the store are the, deli, floral department, and bakery. Starting with my favorite - the deli. All of their meats are extremely high quality. Their regularly priced meats are definitely more expensive than Costco (the other good place to buy good meat), but if you look for their weekly deals and other specials, you can get some great meat at awesome prices. For example, on Fridays during lent, they have a BOGO deal Wild Sashimi Tuna Steak ($14.99/lb)! On Tuesdays, ground beef and boneless/skinless chicken breasts are $3.99/lb, and they do a great "Dinner Deal for 4" deal for $20, which is a MUCH better alternative to Blue Apron or Home Chef. Every week, there are different weekly specials... for example, this week all USDA prime steaks are 25% off! Next thing I love is the floral department. A dozen beautiful red roses for $11 or a mixed floral bouquet for around $15. Such a quick and easy way to freshen up your kitchen table! Finally, the bakery. Similar to the deli, you can find some great deals. Last week, they had a BOGO deal on their nut breads, which come in a huge variety of flavors. The bakery also serves "almond pillows" which are some of the best cookies on the planet. Apart from the good food and prices, the staff is extremely friendly and you rarely have to wait in line to check out. They also have some great free samples, especially the coffee, and by request, you can sample almost anything the store sells. Great place to shop for groceries or to pop in for a quick meal. Very elegant decor and atmosphere. Tina of fresh coffee beans to chose from. A large selection of cheeses and deli meats. They have a sushi chef that makes it fresh to order or you can get it already made. Lots of unique groceries line the isles from coconut waters to dishes from all over the world. Come with s lust and I guarantee you leave with so many other things. Today I picked up a fresh panini with corned beef and Swiss cheese. Amazing. Living in Perkins Rowe, this place is my go to store for cooking emergencies, last minute dinners or days when I run our of OJ for breakfast. They may be a little more expensive than the larger chain, but they have lots of healthy options, organic items, a great deli and meat counter. They are pretty small compared to other stores in the areas, but you can get what you need from daily stables, complete meals, cookies for sweet treats and a bottle of wine for sitting on the balcony watching the people wandering around Perkins Rowe. read more

I love this little specialty grocery store. It's so beautiful and unique. I always find wonderful gluten free options that I can't find anywhere other than Whole Foods. I can't give it 5 stars because a couple of employees behind the deli counter(prepared foods and rotisseries) have horrible customer service skill and very bad attitude. If you are ok with paying a little more in exchange for some interesting shopping then this may be the place for you. I'm a huge fan of their deli and have tried a handful of the goods. So far I have been very satisfied. Everything seems quite fresh and if you are on the fence about something they will let you get a sample. Sometimes there are excellent sales on items if you scout hard enough. For instance I found fresh whole mangoes for a dollar. The whole bean coffee selection is nice and if you have never had it, you really owe it to yourself to give it chance. They have a wide range of treats and candies in the bulk area. When I lived in Tampa I would go to Fresh Market to browse, pick up something from the deli area for lunch and maybe a fancy little dessert/coffee for dinner that night. This is a high priced gourmet market, but for the unique items you find here the price is worth it. On top of that, the staff is happy and helpful. The item that I found myself missing the most here was the flavored coffee. The price is good at around $10/lb, its in bulk so there is no pressure to get a full lb., and its fun to try new flavors. I drink a lot of coffee, not just flavored, but if you like flavored coffee their bulk section is the best. I would drive an hour just to buy flavored coffee? Oh yeah I would! No one looked or acted like they were being forced to behave that way. That's just genuinely who they are as people. And it's their entire staff!! From envy apples, to gummy legos - this place has it all. I love shopping here because I trust the produce and they have an amazing fresh meat and bakery section. They have alot of organic substitutes for items I usually buy so I love to try those. They have a great beer and wine selection and lots of beautiful flowers to welcome you in the door. The cashiers are always friendly. I love going to the bakery because everything always looks so delicious and so gorgeous! Last time I went I limited myself to one dessert and got a canolli. Absolutely delicious. Perfect crunch and just the right amount of sweetness in the ricotta. I am excited to go back just to try some more sweets. I got some smoked applewood bacon from the butcher section and it is amazing. I have made it into BLTs and had an amazing breakfast with it. A very swanky market (my term for all things expensive and unique). I randomly came in when I rode by and seen an advertisement saying that had Cotton Candy grapes in! I immediately did a U-turn and grabbed the 2nd to last bag they had on the floor. These grapes really taste like cotton candy I wish I could have came earlier and purchased a a bag that wasn't as picked over. As I waited for the coffee to brew (they were out) and since it's an affordable price of 1 buck I decided to walk around. They have a lot unique food and drink choices.. The meat is very fresh and so is the salad bar. I'm sure I will be back once I finish this bag of grapes but I can see myself stopping for speciality items but the way my income is setup I'll still be grocery shopping at affordable average everyday American stores! read more

Also, I can't always find what I need and I don't think it's organized as well as it could be. Their cheese selection is nice, just not as good as Whole Foods. It's a Fresh Market. What more is there to say? I come here once a week to grab a healthy dinner when I travel to Baton Rouge. They have a nice selection, though I wish they had a hot bar, a la Whole Foods. I recently made grumpy noises to a clerk about the fact that they had started selling out of rotisserie chickens by 8 PM many Mondays, and the next week the problem was fixed. So that's nice. Shop nowhere else! Yes, it may seem pricey but its very good quality, always fresh and well stocked. Pay attention to their sales because they are well worth it. They provide the highest level of customer service from grocery stores I have ever seen. If you want good quality meat, poultry or fish you should get it here and skip all the others. they sell PRIME, most places don't offer that in this area. Kind of overpriced. It's small and doesn't have everything, but it's great for some things! It's basically like a much smaller Whole Foods. It's good for fresh things like fruits, veggies, deli meat, and cheese. Nice beer selection and like Whole Foods, they let you make your own 6-pack using a selection of their single bottles of beer. I like that it has a small town market kind of feel. The employees are very friendly too. If I'm in the Perkins Rowe area and need some groceries, I'd go here. I love this store. My Goddaughters live in BR & when I visit, we go to this store. Clean, with lovely displays, it is is a pleasure to shop here. The cafe l'orange is one of my favorite coffees in the world, and I can't get it in Texas, so usually stock up here. I love that there are so many things I can get here that are not available anywhere else. And if you are entertaining and want some unique and special treats, this is the place. the staff is usually quite friendly and very helpful. Fresh Market has some of the basic groceries but they also have a lot of the hard to find special items also. They have a huge variety of meats and breads, and their produce section always looks fresh to me and more colorful than some of the other markets.
