I also love the neighborhood feel of this place. It has the kind of welcoming atmosphere where you see loyal customers coming in regularly, and the staff has always been friendly and pleasant to work with. As an added bonus, I've also ordered from the sandwich shop next door and really enjoy their pastrami sandwiches. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the custom cake decorating can be inconsistent. In the past, I've had more than one cake that wasn't decorated according to the order instructions, and the bakery actually had to remake it. While I appreciate that they made it right, it does make me a little nervous whenever I place a custom order because I'm never quite sure if the final product will match what I requested. Thankfully, this most recent order was perfect and reminded me why I keep coming back. The quality of their baked goods is excellent, and when the decorating is done correctly, they really deliver. If they could improve the consistency of their custom cake orders, they would easily earn 5 stars from me.
