We tried probably 4 cake bakers before we met Nicole and we're so glad we waited for the best! Nicole knows her flavors and nails the texture of cake sponge and buttercream. The only hard decision we made with Nicole was which flavors to pick, and we ended up with peanut butter and jelly and chocolate strawberry balsamic. Some of our family pre-wedding wasn't sure about the less traditional flavor choices, but they were definitely the right choices; we heard nothing but rave reviews from all our guests! I was going back and forth about whether or not I should post this because honestly I HATE leaving bad reviews but she honestly left me no choice. I also want anyone reading the good reviews to proceed with caution because this is NOT a quality or professional vendor! I would leave 0 stars if I could! Backstory: We booked Nicole for my sister's wedding and were extremely happy she agreed to make a cake on short notice. My sister had to cancel her whole wedding due to COVID-19 and had to start from scratch with vendors for a zoom wedding. Nicole also agreed to let us rent her cake stand for $30 (which was super overpriced considering it was gold plastic), but it was an emergency so whatever. Wedding Day: Nicole did NOT deliver!!! She showed up with some itty bitty cake, equivalent to a baby smash cake size when I told her that we needed a cake for 15 people. Also there was NO design, it was SUPER plain. I didn't make a big deal because my sister was already stressed, so I decided I'd speak with Nicole afterwards regarding our dissatisfaction. This is what I told Nicole via email about our experience: "We appreciate you allowing us to book you on such short notice, as well as you coming through with the cake stand last minute, but I need to give you some honest feedback regarding the cake, as we were extremely disappointed. There were several areas of concern: 1) The size of the cake was not conducive to the 15 person count I gave when I filled out the initial contact form. We didn't even have enough cake to feed our 12 person party. 2) There was absolutely no design. I gave a picture of a design and stated that it was for inspiration only. As we were impressed by the cakes on your site and Instagram, we were excited to see what type of creation you would come up with, especially when you said you would work your magic. We were not expecting a plain white cake with a few gold flakes. 3) The cake was extremely dry, the strawberries did not taste fresh (maybe frozen or freeze dried), and the icing tasted store bought. Overall this was not a very good experience and I did not receive the value I expected for the price that I paid. I didn't say anything when you arrived because my sister was already stressed and I wasn't going to make things worse. We did talk after you left though, and she told me was expecting a much bigger cake with more of a design, but she would "make it work". She shouldn't have had that burden on her special day. If you have any suggestions on how to rectify our experience, I would welcome that discussion. I will promptly send the stand as soon as you give me a mailing address." Nicole responded that should would meet up with me to collect the stand and then we could discuss in person. She ended up sending her assistant to meet with me and NEVER made any mention to our poor experience. Now I decided to let it go, but this morning she reached out to my sister about not being tagged as her vendor because my sister was featured in a popular wedding IG account. My sister graciously thanked her for her service but again expressed dissatisfaction and she didn't even reply!!! Talk about no class or professionalism!!! She was able to ask about being tagged but didn't have the decency to rectify our issue?? Do not use Nicole Bakes Cakes unless you want to ruin your wedding day or event. She makes tiny overpriced dry cakes and you'd be better off going to the grocery store instead. At least there you would get customer service! We paid her $105 for a POS cake and poor customer service! SMH read more
