I ordered the Pork Katsu it was fine. Nothing to write home about. Granddaughter ordered a couple of different sushi rolls. My girl could live on sushi and can give you a rundown on every sushi joint in the greater Beaverton area. She wasn't excited and spent half the meal chatting about where we should have gone. On the urging of our son and girlfriend to try this place, my wife and I checked it out. Wow we have been missing out on a great restaurant in our backyard. Upon entering we were showered with greetings from the staff. The place is small but is very warm and cozy and friendly. The food was amazing, flavors were on spot and then some. I love Miso soup and honestly this was the best I have ever had, not sure how they made it as it is a simple item, but it was fantastic. The Katsu was perfect with a light crunchy crust, I hate when you get Katsu and the breading tares your month apart. My wife really liked her sushi, the presentations were top of class which matches the quality of the food. It makes you feel you made a great choice. The service could not reach a better point 10's for the attentive service we had it really made our first time there a great experience. And a side note wow ... You order everything on a tablet at your tables (they have pictures for every item which I loved) best salmon I've had west of Portland!!! Both the server and chef were so friendly too. I recommend rolls that have things added in top of California rolls if you like to eat California rolls. The bahn roll was also really good. The overall experience was great. Bethany Sushi as of October '22 is under new ownership (Jay & Min). So all the previous reviews need to be read with a grain of salt. That being said, I came in with previous experience bias (which was a B) and for now, it's a solid A... I mean wow... The wow factor was sashimi slices served as it was designed to be, not "we gotta cut corners because prices are soaring slices." I get it, every establishment has to find their right balance of lease, staff, and profitability, but for now, Bethany Sushi's new owners have given their dishes lush, thick slices of fish with great variety. The chirashi bowl had escolar and ikura! Impressive. The volcano roll had healthy amounts of scallops, the Washington roll super tasty and cleverly presented. The bento box also came with a nice sesame dressing, with toasted sesame seeds... a nice touch. Ambiance hasn't changed much, they shuffled some tables around and I feel like buying jeans in a Gap store with the jazz music but it's totally normal. I don't like giving bad reviews but I'm in awe of how many stars this place has and I was misled to come here. If you're craving sushi this would not be my first choice- we ordered a few rolls here and the fish was not fresh and the rice was super sticky. I asked for a side of ginger and it was spoiled. Ordered from here, and I rarely do 2-star ratings, but I can't believe that Bethany Sushi would push out food like this for delivery. My entire order, with the exception of the plain salmon maki, was horrible. Soggy yaki soba noodles, drenched in liquid. My husband's Philadelphia roll had krab in it, first of all, we've never had krab in a Philly roll, and on the website, it did not list krab as an ingredient. In the beef bento box, there were more onions than beef. Lastly no soy sauce or wasabi for the sushi. I am kind of flabbergasted honestly. The key might be, never ordering delivery and dining in. Yeah, I know, I am salty, I'll be over it, 5 minutes from now, but do yourself a favor and do not order delivery, or you'll be as salty as I am now. read more

While the 6 piece crispy Veggie Tempura was good, the Udon soup hit the spot! The soup was a generous portion in 2 large containers. The broth was flavorful and filing with chewy noodles and a heap of veggies - broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, etc. The tofu was worth the small upcharge! I was on the fence on whether to order the Udon soup and so glad I went for it! If this review was on food alone, it would a 4-5. We've been here before and always had great food. However, they have recently updated their process and you order everything on a kiosk at your table. You are able to see photos and descriptions of all their items. While ordering this way may be great when they are busy and you can save on wait staff, we were the only customers. It felt weird having to order refills of your water on a machine. Or hitting a "call staff" to get a box. It took all the personal touch out of the dining experience. As such, you wonder what you were tipping for. For decor, they've added partitions to make for a secluded dining experience. I'm mixed on this as it seemed to have added clutter in the small dining space, but would be nice if the place were full. I think we are going to stick to take out moving forward. But if you are looking for a nice dining experience out, this is no longer the place to go. Bummer. read more

Great service and reasonable price. I had Chirashi. Chirashi's quality depends on sashimi. They put pretty good size fish including grilled salmon. Grilled salmon is rather rare to find on Chirashi, but it added smoked and fun flavor to plainness of sashimi assortment. An interesting idea successful for me. Rice seemed to have a bit much vinegar but also presented touch of sesame oil which I love as an east Asian. Overall, I felt having a reasonable Chirashi which is uneasy to find in Portland and Beaverton. read more

Only one woman working as the waitress, hostess, and answering phone calls for the entire restaurant. The table I was sat at was less than an inch next to another table. The computer I had to order food from required me to click each and every item to read wha type of fish the sushi roll was. I mean how am I supposed to know what a spicy girlfriend or ex boyfriend or whatever the heck type of made up roll they come up with is? When I asked to see a paper menu so I don't have to play this tablet tapping game, the waitress/hostess/cashier said that the restaurant only had one paper menu and I had to wait for the table next to me to finish with it. I mean at least give me a QR code so I can look at it through my phone. Lastly the table they sat me at was less than an inch from a table that a family was sitting at. I thought it was not intimate for my experience to be easedropping on their conversation. Sushi tasted gross and expensive too. Sometimes we just need sushi AND we need it delivered to our house. While we are in pajamas. After 7:30 when I finish work. After messing around on a couple delivery apps to see what it would cost ( um my teen ran up a tab of $110 at one place in their order form and was going to hit " submit order"...NOPE), we decided on $21 bento from this place close to us but delivered for $1.49 with a total cost around $50. Better but not great. We do not really frequent this place and have not been there since the new ownership. We have a couple other places we really really like. Gotta spend single mom cash carefully. It was ok. Not amazing. It did arrive really fast. Kid's bento had a smallish piece of "ok" teriyaki salmon ( extra $1), gyoza (out of a freezer bag), Cali roll ( ok by her report), a medocre iceberg salad, and rice. There were soy sauce packets, ginger, and wasabi in little cups and wooden chopsticks. There was dipping sauce for the gyoza. My bento had chicken katsu ( a little hard but crispy and not greasy, my kid stole half), California roll ( it was just not my fav, kind of flavorless), the same salad, rice, and 4 fairly small pieces of nigiri ( salmon, tuna, red snapper maybe, and one I didn't recognize but I liked it ok. Possibly squid). My katsu had a dipping sauce of ketchup mixed with something. Mustard? Sriracha? Not sure. Also got a cucumber salad (sunomono) that looked huge but had bagged greens under it . It was alright. $6. Not awesome. I don't think we would do it again. We had slightly more flavorful bento delivered by another place recently for less money. Kid wants to give it a four.
