Sushi was cold and undercooked. Never had a dragon roll worse than this place. Very unfortunate

It seems I am due for an updated review of this particular Mio Sushi. I was just able to eat here right before a show at the Patricia Reser Center, which is right across the street. My friends and I had such a great experience although I always have wonderful food and excellent service here. At any Mio Sushi location, I highly recommend ordering their sunset roll and the double crunch roll. I've been here before with a large group where each of us ordered a different roll so I was able to try a lot of their menu. I love going with different friends so that they order things I've never tried. I have yet to try anything on their menu I have not liked. This time I definitely grabbed a cucumber salad but I did not get any shrimp shumai. They do have shrimp shumai and I highly recommend it. I also highly recommend their tempura. read more

This place is only really just kinda okay. Food wise I got the Nigiri Set that came with miso soup and I was generally unimpressed. The best were easily the salmon followed by the tuna. The salmon was very tender and nicely sized. The tuna, akami style, didn't have that fishyness I dislike. The eel was as expected and so was what I think was the yellowtail but neither were strong in fresh flavors. The octopus was chewy and the other white fish was mostly tasteless. Tuna rolls were also just fine. Overall, the portions were nicely sized but nothing was spectacular. I think one issue was the sushi rice itself not being all that good but idk. The service was pretty great actually so I'm very confused by the other reviews, maybe they're new. Quick, attentive, always easy to ask questions about stuff. When a drink was spilled by another customer the instant I looked over at the staff one had a paper towel, then a real one, at the ready instantly. The overall presentation was good as well with the place looking fine enough, though nothing is memorable. Wouldn't really go here again even though it's fairly priced for a sushi place. read more

Sushi was average what really was disappointing was the level of customer service. I took my toddlers and wanted to eat outside. They made my order to go and literally gave me ONE napkin. Ordered some sushi via delivery. I thought the fish all tasted pretty fresh and appreciated that they saved on packaging to get everything into one package. The flavors all seemed pretty good to me and were as advertised. If I had a thing I disliked, I felt the rice was just a little hard. I think they could have also easily cut the roll pieces in half to even out the rice-to-filling ratio. I was fairly satisfied and would try them again in the future. read more

Came for lunch last week at 1pm and the restaurant was very clean (restroom clean too), two entrances and seated. We had a gift certificate and the amount must be used in full during one visit. The menu can be written on it seems which is neat and the food came fast. We got some nigiri, assorted tempura entree, nabeyaki udon, and some orders to go. The nigiri was fresh and nice cuts (one order is 2pc), balance of rice to fish was good. Something I appreciated was that the soy sauce was capped to remain fresh and assume due to the pandemic. With the udon it was quite filling, udon was hot and had some veggies in it as well. Great for a cold day. The assorted tempura came out piled high, presented well and though the batter for the shrimp was a little thick, it was still filling as it came with rice and miso soup. The order to go also came out on time as we were checking out, wrapped well too. As we were dining, a lot of to go orders were picked up and there was a section in the middle for them. The process seemed well organized. A quaint spot in the middle of the busy downtown Beaverton that offers a fresh and filling meal. read more

Overall: Sushi is good, service can definitely be improved. Atmosphere: We came and ate inside. Looks like they don't have a lot of customer dining in because it was very informal. They had the to-go station right in the center of the restaurant. There was no music playing. It was even a little awkward. Food: The sushi was good. I recommend coming during happy hour that way you get them discounted. I like to think of Mio sushi as fast food sushi. Service: The lady who was the hostess and the server was very antsy. Got takeout from Mio Sushi one day with my family and had a pretty good experience. I placed a lengthy phone order with no complication and the food was ready on time. We got a couple rolls, the sushi and sashimi combo, and a chirashi bowl. We've tried a few of their rolls in the past, and they've all been pretty tasty. All the fish is nice and fresh and the rice was cooked well, though I think the Mio in Hillsboro actually has fresher ingredients. I would highly recommend the salmon belly, it's fresh, fatty, and tasty. Mio has pretty standard prices for sushi (not super cheap) and is a solid joint to visit if you're craving sushi, but not anything crazy to write home about. read more

It really needs a good cleaning. The windows in front and back are filthy. The floor was dirty and it was disorganized with cardboard boxes being used as containers. Back tables filled with "stuff". Just got my delivery.....No avocado in the California roll and barely any cream cheese in the Philly roll, just the tiniest microscopic sliver that couldn't even be tasted. And small amounts of the other ingredients. Not very fresh. Rice was glue-y. Disappointed and obviously this business must be suffering because the quality has taken a steep nosedive. So sad. I have had take-away from here several times, particularly the salmon teriyaki plate and the assorted tempura (with shrimp). Both of these are very good, and the portions are quite large, especially the tempura set. I love tempura and have it in many Japanese restaurants, including in Japan. I would order from here any day of the week. That is how much I like it. I have never eaten at the restaurant and thus cannot comment on the dine-in experience. read more

Sushi rolls were overloaded with pasty, overcooked rice. They also weren't cut completely. I can honestly say I could've done better myself. Definitely not what I'd expect from this chain. I called to speak to a manager, but the manager wasn't available. Instead, I offered some honest, constructive criticism to the person answering the phone (1/17/21), who told me "somebody from a different location" was making the sushi that night, and nothing else. Save your money and go elsewhere. Restaurants still in business at this point should be bending over backwards to earn and retain business, not acting indifferently toward unsatisfied customers. Obviously we've been placing a lot of takeout orders for the last year. Mio is on our list because the food is fresh and it's local with no UberEats fee. But man! Even their takeout service has been horrendous. I've learned to order early because they're never ready on time. Today is just a cherry on top. Placed an order around 5 for delivery 6:30-7. It's 7:47 now and my Uber driver has told me they are still waiting for the food to be ready. I get there are probably some staff shortages with the heatwave today, but I placed the order almost 3 hours ago. At what point do they have accountability? Sorry, Mio. We've been doing Sushi in Portland for about 12 years and have yet to find a place we like better than Mio Sushi. We have never had a bad meal here. Their service is always good - if you go often enough they recognize you and remember what you like. Dinner for 5 at this location tonight. They have lots of ornate rolls, but honestly I like the simple dishes the best. We had a wonderful evening, arriving early enough to get a break on our Sapporo beer for happy hour. The garage doors were open to the outside on a beautiful day. Their prices are reasonable, and our sushi order was large enough to come out in separate platters, which is nice when you order the rolls that have tempura or other cooked/hot ingredients. I heartily recommend this place. Reading the other reviews it appears that many of the issues are with delivery orders, and you have to wonder how many of the problems originated with the delivery service. read more

One star is sufficient. The Spicy Salmon and the Saba alone would have been 3 stars ( meh) but the Spicy Tuna sank the stars to one. Look at the attached pics. Look at the Celery to Spicy Tuna ratio. It's like 3 to 1. I asked for Spicy Tuna, not spicy Celery with a tiny piece of Tuna. I tasted no tuna. I only tasted the soy sauce and the celery. Look at all that celery. VERY disappointed. Maybe they're stretching the tuna to make sure they had enough for the evening, should they get some actual business. Oh, and by the way, this was my second time going to Mio Sushi. Service was lackluster last time but this is the only sushi place in the area that I can find and I wanted to give them another chance. Every restaurant in the round was packed, with seating indoors and outdoors, but Mio Sushi? EMPTY, both times I went. Perhaps not every likes sushi, but still, that's never a good sign. Empty of customers, but FULL of employees with nothing to do but stand and open up plastic bags and move the hand sanitizers around on the table while pretending not to watch me like a hawk. There were about 6 employees and about 2 sushi chefs with nothing to do but watch me. Every minute or so I would suddenly look at whoever, and they were always caught looking at me and then suddenly looking away. I WAS THE ONLY CUSTOMER FOR THE 30 OR SO MINUTES I WAS THERE. The only employee who was not watching me was the male employee who stood half the time, staring at his phone, then seated the other half of my time there, staring at his phone. It wasn't until about 5minutes before I was done that a customer came in to get his order, and a woman wanted to be seated outside that the male employee must have decided to work. There has to be something to do there. Why spend the time standing around, doing nothing? Aren't there floors that need to be swept, counters that need to be wiped, toilets or sinks that need to be cleaned or disinfected, or more celery to cut? By the way, the 1st time I went, I asked the waiter if the tea had sugar. he said yes, but then he recommended a lemonade with a sugar free strawberry syrup. I said ok, but about halfway through drinking it when he stopped by to ask how was everything, I asked "are you sure this is sugar-free, because this is really sweet." He assured me then said "I know the syrup is sugar free. I'll check to see if the lemonade was sugar free." The lemonade was not sugar free. I was furious but said nothing because I decided I would workout harder that evening just in case my blood sugar was dangerously high that evening. Bottom line, if you're looking for ALOT OF CELERY AND LITTLE TUNA in your spicy tuna, and if you don't mind being stared at by every employee in the building because they have no other customers-if you want a restaurant all to yourself without even asking to have it all yourself- then this is the place to be. My wife and I have been going here since 2018 and have always had a great experience. Service is always wonderful, dishes are prepared very well and consistently, and the space is always clean and organized. During Covid I've really appreciated their setup to pickup takeout, and all 8+ takeout orders have been correct with no issues. (Remember to tip well during takeout! They're still serving you, and there's way more that goes into your meal besides just the table side service). I was surprised to see their average rating was only 3 stars at the time of writing this review, because we've always received 5 star service and will be returning for as long as we live in the area. read more

Located in "The Circle" in Beaverton, Mio is directly facing the performance area and tonight was one of the nights when some Renaissance play was performing. Restaurants that outline the perimeter of this place are usually packing patrons who likes to sit outside to dine and watch the performances. Mio Sushi has all the bells that makes this place an attractive place to eat but lacks the whistle in the food to accompany it. The Spider Roll was the blandest roll I have ever tasted in my life. There was 0 flavor and I did not see or taste any tuna in there at all. Do not waste your time ordering this roll. What saved the dinner was the Sashimi Combo. It consists of 3 pcs of 4 fishes. It was decent, not bad, but nothing spectacular either. Mio isn't a place to eat amazing sushi, but I guess it's a decent place to chill and watch some amateur performances on days when it's not raining in Oregon. Terrible, I alwaysed loved MIO back in the day when they only had one store. Over the years quality has gone way down. They have 16 restaurants now and This time draws the line. The "fried" rolls were served just as offputtingly tepid as the rolls that were supposed to be cold. Each roll was indistinguishable from the next. Sort of a beige blob of vague sushi flavor. Even the rice tasted entirely unseasoned. I am very easy to please with sushi, but this was absolutely the worst I've had. Honestly disgusting. I had 1 piece of each roll and tossed the rest. Visited with a group of my friends. This location is pretty typical of most other Mio sushi locations I have already visited. Me and my fiancee shared several rolls including the Dragon roll, a spicy tuna roll, and a couple others. My Fiancee started with a miso soup, which tasted fine but felt luke warm. Otherwise the food was pretty stock standard without many highlights. The main short coming was the staff who felt short with us as perhaps we walked in a little later than normal (around 8:30). Their sign also said they closed at 10 PM, however when we tried to leave at 9:30 we found the front doors to be locked already which I found to be odd. read more

First time trying Mio sushi and was pretty disappointed, I ordered mio sushi and St Helen roll. The tempura shrimp in the roll is not crispy, it's very soft, like cereals in milk. It's $22 and the portion is only good for one adult. read more

The order of udon contained fish cake despite the fact that their website menu says that the udon order comes with bean curd unless meat is in the order. I ordered udon with no meat and yet was unable to enjoy my meal. I also requested no wasabi and sure enough wasabi was in the order. I asked for a side of sriracha and did not receive that either.
